Waking up to your car not starting right before you have to be at work, is never a good feeling. My girlfriend researched mechanics in the area and Mark's shop came up on the list, as the top mechanic in Conroe. We got my car taken to his shop and by the next day he had found the problem ( a faulty battery and bad O2 sensor) fixed those issues, and changed my oil. His prices are fair and he even made sure to call me to explain to me in detail what was wrong with my vehicle. He suggested a place for me to buy a new battery from, so that I would get the best deal and warranty. I've been going to Mark's since 1999. I completely trust him and his team. I've recommended him to my parents and my friends and now they all use him as well. This is the first time I had to see him since I bought a new car in 2006. My car would hesitate when it was starting. I had to take it in to DeMontrond for recall repairs so I just figured they could look at it while my car was there anyways, and I told the the mechanic there my issues and he suggested testing the starter, battery, and alternator. I just replaced the starter and battery so I told them to just test the alternator. $75 later the had no clue what was wrong. I then took it to Mark's (which I should've just done in the first place after the recall repairs were done). He explained that the problem I had couldn't be the alternator so there was no need to test it. He told me upfront that if my car wasn't displaying the problem while he was testing it then they wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem, which makes sense. He tested my car for a couple of hours but unfortunately it wasn't displaying any problems. When I came to pick up my car he talked to me about it for about 15 minutes and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, and he didn't charge me for the test he had to run. My mom went to a different mechanic who told her she needed $2000 of work to fix her car. I told her to go to Marks. Mark fixed her car for $350 and it's been running fine ever since. read more

Mark is as down to earth as you can get. I don't know too much about cars in detail but Mark knew from my description just what the problem was and what it took to correct it. My AC was not blowing cold air. I explained that before the pandemic a mechanic had filled it with dye +Freon. When I brought my car in I was told "it was bone dry". Meaning no freon. To me that means I have a leak, right??? He suggested we fill it and see if it lasts.... I told him that was already done and only lasted a couple of days. He kept the car over night ( so no way he ran it for 2 days like he said) He continued to suggest we do it + change a faulty converter.... I again explained that was changed on the passenger side and it still didn't work. My frustration is this: if it was "bone dry" there is a leak! Fix the leak instead of trying every other thing!! If there is no Freon what does the converter matter???? Need the Freon right? So, after spending $360, I'm in the same boat. No cold air because there is a leak! I'm not saying the part didn't need fixing, but that shouldn't be the first thing! First see why it is leaking. Also this man spoke down to me with "you're not understanding", "I think you're confused", is this because I'm female? He also made it sound like I wasn't willing to spend the $900 he once mentioned..... I told him I just want it fixed. Did he think I couldn't afford it?? After I paid, another man, older maybe owner, said I should get rid of the car.... I feel angry, frustrated, taken advantage of, and my car is still blowing hot hair! Was told this guy was the best in town by a family friend. Happily brought him our vehicle for repair and to make a long story short, when we called to get an update he told my husband that people like us just bring him headaches because we didn't come to him first and took it to someone else (which is true- but we lived in amarillo just days before we brought mark the car. Of course we went somewhere else because we didn't even live here???) He also threw attitude because my husband addressed him by his first and last name (again- we were personally referred to him by someone who has somehow earned his business for years) and my husband was nothing but kind and cordial to him. VERY bizarre the way this man treats people. Told him we wouldn't bother him again with our business and that we would recommend others not bother him as well. read more

I had Mark do all four of the disc brakes on our Camry last week. While his work isn't free, I always feel he's reasonable, more importantly I trust him to make a fair and professional assessment of any problems my cars may have. It was over twenty years ago my Mother-in-Law told us we should be going to Mark's Automotive, so we gave it a try and I'm so glad we did. On this go round the dealer was telling me the brakes didn't just need to be done soon, but that there was uneven wear that may mean more than just a brake job...the dealers description suggested I may need new calipers plus labor. Mark looked it over and said No, it just needs some adjusting, cleaning and new pads. Mark's not really equipped for oil changes, so I have the dealer do them for warranty purposes. I'd give Mark more than 5 stars if it were available. If you asked what adjectives I'd use to describe Marks Automotive Repair, honesty, competence and professionalism would be at the top of the list. I've been going to Mark's since 2009, and I will never take my car to another mechanic. Everyone desires to have a mechanic they can trust, who has integrity, cares about quality, helping the customers and does all of that at a fair price. Mark and his team do all of those things. He does great work, and even tells you if you don't need something done. He helped me get 260,000 miles out of my 1999 Honda Civic. Also, after thinking I had discovered him all by myself, I quickly learned that most of my closest friends from church used him as well. My latest experience was him allowing me to bring in my 2013 Civic in during my lunch hour to have the A/C looked at. In 45 minutes I was back on the road with cool A/C Thank you Mark and team for all you do! I didn't like how Mark and William were very belittling because I am a woman. They treated me as if I dont know anything about cars or what's going on with mine. I took my car here to do the front brake pads alone and to do that and turn the rotors it came to $240. When I picked my car up I noticed a loud noise that wasnt there before. When I took my car back to there shop Mark's exact words were "are u talking about a noise that cars make when they are driving because u do know they make noises when they are driving right." So rude! Williaam was trying to give me the runaround (they didnt know I already knew it was my front rotors!!!!!) William told me it was coincidentally my back brakes now and that I needed to do them now!!! Ha what a joke!!! These guys definetely need to learn to treat women a little better!!!!! Going to try to get my money completely back!!! Will never return!!! And I will warn everybody I know about this dangerous shop and their attitudes towards woman!!!! read more

Found Mark's Auto Repair by looking at the Yelp reviews. My AC compressor needed to be replaced, which is a pretty expensive job. Mark and his brother were awesome! Mark explained the issue, what he'd do, gave me the cost for the parts and labor, etc. His prices were very fair and the work was excellent. I'd also like to add that he installed only new parts. Many other mechanics will install refurbished parts, which might be cheaper but don't last as long. Mark is the best and most honest mechanic i have ever met. A friend referred me to him about 15 years ago and I in turn have referred many friends and family to him. He takes the time to explain what is wrong with your car and will tell you if he can fix it or not. He has taken care of my truck since i got in 1997 and it is still driving very well at 200,000 miles! Mark has also taken care of a couple of cars for me as well. As a single woman, I trust him completely in that he will not try and take advantage of higher prices, etc. No one I have referred to him has ever had a complaint about him either.
