I stayed in an Airbnb in Bucerias and the owner of the house recommended "Marks for a steak". It took reservations to get a table, so make sure you call ahead, maybe a day or 2 before. Come here if you want a good "fancy" dinner. I thought the appetizers were better than the entrees, but the entrees were still very good. I got the lamb, but most people got the filet mignon. I think the thing to get here is the pork chop. The prices were all still very affordable, about $15-25 per entree for something that would easily be $30-60 in an American beach city. If you're in Bucerias for a few days, definitely check this place out. However, I wouldn't drive from Puerto Vallarta to just go here. If I came here again I would get some appetizers, and probably a good wine, good cocktail, and the porkchop or filet mignon. read more

The food had some problems, like a totally overcooked filet mignon ... and then there was Mark's wife who was SO in you face over the bad cooking ... like it was our fault for not liking well done ... Mark's is fabulous in every way!!! The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the ambiance is awesome! We had dinner and lived the food! Norma and the rest of the staff was great! Firs time to visit Bucerias to eat out for dinner, we found this restaurant as we walked out disappointed at Karen's for not having a reservation. We were so glad and this restaurant didn't disappoint. I ordered a salmon which was cooked in perfection and hubby had a squid ink risotto, was really good! Ambience was good. They take credit cards which was a plus as we didn't have pesos yet. read more

Absolutely loved this place! My husband and I even came back on our last night to enjoy the best of Bucerías one last time. The food is delicious! I had the Seafood pasta and it was hands down the best seafood pasta I have ever had. It was mildly spicy, (not mentioned in the menu) but it was a great compliment! It made it that much tastier. My husband had the rack of lambs and they were cooked perfectly. We both also had the salmon, which by no surprise, was cooked perfectly as well. It was served with mashed potatoes and caramelized onions. The portions were quite generous, def worth the price. Not to mention the hostess that served us was attentive through out our first meal. There is no children's menu, and there wasn't anything quite child friendly on the menu but the hostess offered to have pasta and butter served just for our children at a reasonable price. I wish I would have gotten her name, she was pleasantly accommodating. Overall, this place is def worth the visit when in Bucerías. Great food quality and ambiance. read more

Mark's is a nice touch being one of the few high end restaurants in Bucerias. It is in a nice neighborhood of Art Galleries. The ambiance is beautiful with great lighting. Half of the building is closed and half is open under the sky. We had delicious food around the table. I had the lobster ravioli and it was incredible with a homemade pasta and creamy red sauce. This place is a must visit when in Bucerias. read more

We've had many good experiences at Mark's. And I wouldn't be writing this if they'd answered my email, but it will be a very long time until we even consider going back. The waitress and the kitchen screwed up on almost every dish we ordered. I ordered a pork chop that came to me raw and when I asked the waitress to take it back and that I wanted it well done, what I got back 5 minutes later was a raw pork chop smothered in sauce. It's an embarrassment when you take new people to a restaurant that you rave about and then it turns out so badly. read more

I avoided this place like the plague last year. Its very touristy and high priced. My family wanted to go here this year so i went. The first thing i ordered oysters they were out of. So ordered the tuna tartar which was really good. I heard the seafood pasta was amazing. I gave it a try and it was blah. The sauce had minimal flavor. I also tried my parents dishes the red snapper which was really good but a very small portion and the ahi tuna which was a good portion and great flavor but when asked to box it up we lost a third of what we gave them. Not cool. Not cool at all. There service was extremely slow. Slow to get the food. Slow to get the check. Slow. I would bot recommend Mark s to anyone. Around the corner is El Brujo, go there it local and great. read more

All around fantastic experience! Definitely a gringo hangout but also a fantastic upscale restaurant. Good food, good drinks, good ambiance. Our group had a couple orders of the filter mignon. I had their miso steak salad which was a great. The marinade was rich and the steak tender. I'd prefer a bit more salad to go with the steak, but I imagine most would be happy with piles of meat. I also had the Sriracha chicken spring rolls - a stellar way to start the meal. The red snapper, shrimp, and lobster eaten by others in the party also received rave reviews. While this isn't an every night affair, Mark's is a treat that I'll definitely be back to enjoy. read more

We got into Bucerias late, and with no reservations things weren't looking good. But Mark's was accommodating and we were quickly seated. Great ambiance, decorated very nicely, and good, yet restrained service Food came in a timely manner and presentation was excellent. And quite tasty too! Prices ended up being about what I would have expected at home in California, so I suppose they might have been a bit high for here. Not a fan of their margaritas though. In fact, I've yet to find a good one in Bucerias. All in all though, an enjoyable meal at an enjoyable location. read more

We came here to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday night. I would never eat here if I were you. First off, this is one of the most expensive restaurants in the area. Be prepared to spend $20-$30 per person without alcohol. There is no AC- be prepared to sweat! You can get the same quality food for much less other places. The place was pretty empty considering it is the off season with only one other couple seated at a table and a couple folks at the bar. The menu and reviews on line looked great, and I was excited for the salmon special on the menu that night. The service leaves much to be desired, and the staff speak limited english at best. Aside from the owners who had English accents, no one seemed to be able to communicate or resolve problems. Upon ordering I noticed that our waiter did not write down the order. Not a big deal, there were only 2 of us. When we asked him to repeat it back we were glad we did, he did not remember what we ordered! No big deal, we just corrected him. Then came the complimentary bread. Nice touch and it looked amazing... except for the rather large ant running along the plate. When we pointed it out to our waiter, he extended his finger and smashed it on the plate. No joke, there were dead ant guts squashed on the side of the bread plate. We really wanted to have a great dining experience and not ruin the celebration, the bread was free so we let this slide. Finally, and I mean within a good 10 minutes (the place is empty) our 2 appetizers arrived. The heirloom tomato salad and tempura rolls looked good from afar. When the waiter set both plates down, we were shocked to see ants again on BOTH plates. We tried at length to explain to the waiter that there were bugs on those plates as well, but he just kind of smiled and nodded. He then walked away... We were stunned. He did not offer to replace the items, we literally had to call him back to tell him to return the plates to the kitchen. We were not about to give these high priced appetizers ($10 each) a free pass like we gave the bread. We tried our best to communicate with the waiter. I speak enough spanish to tell him that we were not going to eat food with bugs crawling on it. He did not seem to care, and just kept smiling and nodding. I finally got up and went to find the manager of the restaurant. When I finally found her, I believe her name is Jan, I told her of our situation. She seemed sort of nonchalant about it. She said it was hot, and the ants are every where. Her solution...? She offered to buy us a drink. I am not kidding... a drink? We do not drink alcohol, though at this point I was wishing I did. We kindly informed her that we were not drinking alcohol and that we would be leaving. She never once said she was sorry, she said the food was prepared fresh. We left and found a place 1 block away that was amazing and without ants and nice and cool with AC! We are not picky people. We are not unreasonable. We really wanted to enjoy this place and have a good meal for my birthday. Given the way they seemed completely unconcerned at the fact that we had bugs on our food, it made me question the rest of the kitchen and food safety here. I would beware of anything coming out of that place. Do yourself a favor, go to Lupita steakhouse a block away for a real fine dining experience with amazing food, service, and no ants crawling on your food. read more

Came here for our Anniversary dinner. There were some great points and some let's say needs some improvement points. Drinks were good, had the sangria it was ok, my husband had the Smokey margarita again ok, my friend had the cosmo mojoito again ok. Once we ordered simple drinks like a vodka soda those were strong and perfect. We started with oysters, ceviche, and the calamari. The ceviche and the calamari were amazing! The oysters were slightly warm and that freaked me out so I did not eat them but another person in our party did and she was fine afterwards. We then ordered two salads which were great! For entrees we had the tuna steak with pasta, the lobster risotto, lobster soup, and the special which was red snapper with lobster ravioli. I had the tuna steak and pasta it was delicious. The special my husband had was ok and our friends that had the risotto were slightly disappointed as they did not know it was going to be black risotto which was a tad dry. At the end they brought us key lime pie which was oh so good. The service at the end was almost nonexistent. I had to wave down our waiters to get the bill. They seemed under staffed and busy. This is Bucerías fine dining and to be honest there are so many amazing restaurants but the choice is yours. read more

We ate here with 2 families and 3 had steak and 2 had seafood and all were wonderful. I suggest the steak but also the gnocci and the wine list is very good as well. When a steak was returned firstly for being cold and then over cooked she told me I didn't know what I was talking about! She then proceeded to insult me over and over. Finally when I was ready to throw the food at her, she relented and asked what I would like instead and then tried to embarrass me by telling me, a) the rest of the table would have to wait a long time for it to be cooked and b) I might not approve again! It's rare to have an absolutely perfect dining experience but we had one here. From the decor to the service to the food, this restaurant does things right. Yes, it's on the expensive side but it's still much less than we are used to paying for high quality food in San Francisco! This meal would easily have cost $160 in SF, whereas it was only $85 at Mark's. The food was delicious -- macadamia encrusted fish in an amazing sauce of turmeric and tamarind, unforgettable key lime pie, perfect chocolate cake, and well, just everything was beautiful. If you have a big appetite like mine, you do need appetizer, dinner and dessert. A highly overrated, ridiculously overpriced and popular place in the Dorado area that appeals mostly to people who like to spend money. Its reputation is based on its elegant dining area and its attempts, and occasional success, at preparing good food of the "international" variety. The gazpacho is excellent, the service decent, but portions are tiny and stingy, and sides even smaller. There are no extras, no indulgence of the diner. Some of the food we had was inedibly salty. One meal we had there was basically ruined by the loud music of an awful small one-note band, singing and playing American oldies from the 60s and 70s, a distraction from conversation, an embarrassment and totally inappropriate to the intended ambience. Unfortunately this happens at other Bucerias restaurants and may be attributed to an abundance of tone-deaf (or actually deaf) elder retirees who are happy to hear something resembling music that's as reassuring as fading memories. There are far better places to eat if you're serious about food and prefer respect and generosity to pretense and pandering. Not a bad place for people who don't especially like good Mexican food, which can be found on most of the side streets nearby. read more
