The service was great, but this place is overpriced and the food tasted just okay. The pounded pork cutlets are popular so I thought I'd try them. I kept getting bites that were tough with chewy, hard fat. The broccoli casserole was bland and the cheese they use in it tasted like Velveeta...it was not good. The asparagus was fine. Came here recently during lunch and the service was below par and the food was just ok. We were seated quickly, but it took a good bit of time before a server took our drink order...and the food order. There had to be 3 other tables seated and at least 3 servers and a hostess present. But we stayed since the food is usually good and we were starving. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries and a side salad with ranch. The side salad was really good. The ranch is thick. The salad is super simple and topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions & cheese. That was probably my favorite part of the meal. The Grilled Chicken looked really good. However, the chicken patty didn't cover the bun (it was a tad small) and the meat wasn't seasoned well. The bun was way too big and bready. I understand that the bun is bread...it was just way too much bread. I had to take the top bun off to enjoy the sandwich. The fries were good and thick. Overall, I wouldn't order the Grilled Chicken Sandwich ever again! The servers should also help each other out...it's really sad to see poor service at a decent restaurant when the restaurant isn't crowded. read more

We had a good waitress and the service was good. The food was very decent and from a food snob that says a lot! My friend and I wanted to eat and with MCG being a bookmark on my list of places to eat I suggested this place. We got the boneless buffalo chicken as an appetizer which looked a little odd, at first my friend thought that they still had bones in them and were weird looking but they tasted right.The shrimp and grits were great, not the best grits I've had but definitely a good runner up, a little thin but with a great texture. The shrimp were big and plump and flavorful the sausage were sliced just right, where it was spread out but tasty. My friend got the pork cutlets which he said were quite good. Really good, in fact and he ate everything. My friend is skinny like a bird and I've seen him eat less than half a plate of food. He was starving but he did keep saying how good it was and even mentioned it the day after at work. Our server was very nice and friendly and kept asking if we needed anything else, but we didn't because everything was so good. She still checked up on us frequently nonetheless and her suggestion of the broccoli casserole was spot on. The owner, Mark even came by to see if everything was all right for us, which we assured him it was. On my second visit to the great city of Columbus, we had lunch at Mark's. I had the steak salad and it was quite delicious: steak was properly cooked and flavor was great. Another in our party got a really interesting peanut butter and jelly pork sandwich. He said it was good - it definitely sounded and looked out of the ordinary. Coworkers strongly suggested the peanut butter pie and it is kind of amazing. It is extremely rich - so much so I am not sure how people can eat an entire slice at once. I took a piece to go and felt like it would take me a week to eat the whole thing due to how rich it is! It's definitely worth trying. Excellent!! Not a whole lot to choose from in this part of town, but even if there were tons of choices you would want to choose Mark's. These guys truly know the meaning of "grill". We had scallops, shrimp, and a burger, all grilled to perfection. My wife had the mushroom burger that she said was delicious. I had the Caesar, add shrimp. A little too much dressing, but that's me. I had the Wise Blood IPA, enjoyed it. Fruity! The restaurant itself isn't much to look at, but that may just be an area thing. The people were outstanding. Absolutely fantastic meal!! Ordered the breaded pounded pork tenderloin with lemon sauce with sides of Mac & cheese and grilled veggies. The tenderloin was so tender it cut with a fork. The lemon sauce was amazing and complimented the pork, only wish there had been more of it. Mac & cheese was good, as was the grilled zucchini & squash. One of our party ordered the meatloaf with sides of sweet potato fries and broccoli rice casserole and loved it all. Their desserts are amazing, although not on the menu. The waitress i had was horrible a chic with dark hair and glasses if you get her immediately ask for another waitress! I asked her simple questions about the menu and she did not know the answers. I got the salmon she assured me it was grilled but its very obvious that it is not grilled. She didnt check on my table, forgot things that were ordered and had no kind of hospitality at all. By far one of the worst experiences ive had at a restaurant and it was most because of the waitress. The food is edible but nothing i would want to go back and get. Let's start with the broccoli "casserole". I wouldn't call it a casserole as it's just broccoli with a crap load of cheese but either way it is good. Just call it what it is and I still would've ordered it: broccoli and cheese. Now to the good stuff: that meat loaf and collard. um, um , um! Nothing but good! My date had the steak which was super small but I had no complaints about the meatloaf meal. it was a nice portion (topped with ketchup just like I like it) and the collards, OMG, I swear had been cooked by some old black woman in a head rag, nightgown and slippers and when I got up to go and inquire as to who "put their foot in them greens?", I was shocked that it was a tall, white man!
