Enfield's best kept secret! Lindsay was so friendly and welcoming and gave us great menu recommendations - the Spin Dip Chick was amazing!!! Very small (less than 20 seats), and food is served on plastic plates with plastic utensils. But homemade bagels, English muffins, and biscuits. Pretty good! Stopped here in favor of McDonald's or Subway and we're glad we did. Prices were very reasonable and owners and staff made us feel right at home. The food had a very "from scratch" feel, we got the chicken and waffles and the breakfast quesadilla. Both were specials. The highlight for me was the generous side of mac and cheese that came with the chicken and waffles. Both specials and 3 drinks set us back under 24 bucks. You can't beat that! read more

Excellent fresh food! We ate breakfast here late on a Sunday morning. The coffee (also excellent), condiments and bottled drinks are self serve. Although the breakfast menu has fewer options than some other places, there are daily specials and enough choices to please most people. It is an intimate place, great for 2-4 people. Larger groups might not be able to be accommodated unless it's a slower day. Wait staff was attentive and very friendly which is very important to us. Great little breakfast/lunch diner! Mark's is settled right into the neighborhood which makes you feel part of the community and appreciate the historic buildings that surround. Each meal that I have had from Mark's has been great! Tasty breakfast burrito, their garlic sauce is very rich and tasty and their self-serve coffee is the way to do it. On my most recent visit, the chef (whose name escapes me) made me a custom spicy 1,000 island sauce for a Rueben, which was super accommodating and secured my patronage for good! I wanted to really love this place because I did atlas hours of scouring reviews on Google, yelp, TripAdvisor, and of course good old Facebook using the Enfield forum. Unfortunately, my expectations were completely underwhelmed and disappointed. First off this isn't really a restaurant. There's about 6 to 8 tables total and that's including the ones outside. It should be listed as a café that serves food but only if there's about 20 or less guests. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a table top inside but unfortunately it was right next to the cooler and where everyone decided to stand while they waited in line to place their order. It was so uncomfortable that my fiancé and I felt like we weren't even able to have a private conversation. You get your own drinks and coffee is very much like a cheap hotel service. I'm actually shocked that this place has such a rave reviews. That being said, I will be trying takeout perhaps once more for breakfast and for lunch before I fully rule it out. read more

I was impressed by their safety measures for COVID as the service at the window was great, I will definitely be going back again. The owners of this place need to decide what they want it to be and hire more staff because based on how good the food was alone our experience would have been great. Service is too slow for a take out place, there isn't enough room for dine in service unless you want to wait and wait and wait. They prioritize take out food over those dining in which means tables don't free up. The place is tiny but instead of having everyone order and pick up at the counter first come first serve and then go sit they have one poor girl waiting the tables, manning the counter, and I think she was cooking all the food. If we had decided to dine in we would have had to wait an extra 20 minutes to even put our food order in. They only have bottled drinks so bring yourself a water and a book and chair. Or call in a take out order 30 minutes before showing up and then leave. read more

I went to Mark's for the first time today after seeing pictures of their delicious food on social media. Well, everything tasted as good as it looked online. The buffalo chicken soup was yummy. Spicy enough but not too hot. I also loved the lemon poppyseed muffin. I was going to save it for breakfast, but I wanted to take a bite. I took one bite, then another until it was gone. Sunday morning breakfast. Looking for something new and spied Mark's on Yelp. Nicely remodeled old home. Lots of nearby parking. The server said it took over 6 years to remodel it from a condemned building. Excellent spot to pull in the local business. The server apologized for the plastics ware, said that because of the buildings infrastructure they could not put in what was needed for a dishwasher. When we arrived there was only one table open but needed to be cleared. Not a problem. We got our coffee and sat down. Service was quick and personable. I got the eggs Benedict because it was offered as the special. My plasticware was upgraded to something more sturdy to cut through the ham. My companion got the breakfast burrito. I was disappointed with my food, wishing I had ordered the breakfast pizza the neighboring table had. My poached eggs were hard cooked instead of runny, the ham was generous, but tasted sweet instead of salty, the homemade English muffin was yummy, the Hollandaise sauce was missing. I didn't notice until I had eaten half, (was focused on the hard eggs) but mentioned it to my server who found out the sauce had separated so the cook didn't put it on. She said previous customers had beautiful sauce. We were offered a discount on the breakfast or a remake, or a cinnamon roll. We plan on returning, I want to try out an omelet or the pizza, and I am a sucker for a good Reuben sandwich, so I want to try Mark's. TL:DR. 5 stars for service and atmosphere, 3 for food. It was my first time coming here because of all the stars on yelp. This place is right smack inside a neighborhood and the parking situation was weird. You either park on the street in the neighborhood or in some type of abandoned lot diagonally across the street. This place was clearly short staffed and one of the employees shared with me that this place was intended to only be a takeout place but that people would end up staying. This is a really tight space and not restaurant style space. We were invited to sit at a dirty table. Then asked to move to a smaller table. So ok, the food..I ordered pancakes and my husband ordered a breakfast sandwich. The food was bland. I received 3 massive pancakes on a disposable plate and a tiny container of syrup. The coffee was not anything special and basically don't come here if you're expecting a restaurant. I think all the positive reviews are from people in the neighborhood who probably enjoy the convenience of it being deep in the neighborhood. People who don't cook often or don't know how must enjoy it here. I'm still shocked this place had 5 stars. Seriously people, get out much?
