One thing to note about this place is that its cash only. Many signs indicating cash only upon entering. So please, have cash! This place is great. It's small so if you find any empty seats or table, just grab it. Someone will be right with ya! And everyone there is so sweet! Food was great! Nice and fresh. I'm going to be one of those people who have been here before my "Yelp" days but in a weird twist today I wound up "back in the neighborhood" & came for some breakfast/lunch (the photos of my food I got will explain) & got me what I needed to get me out. I did a 2,2,2,2 Russ's special with coffee & overall man I will say this this'll give some of my local places a serious run for their money. Coffee they keep you going & service is indeed excellent plus the place is getting a really good revamp so it gives you a nostalgic feel & kind of a bit to the previous one that had the place & okay years ago a fire did happen but they returned & when new ones came in they just making it better & though men's room was a little tricky feel of tiles don't worry because they getting that set as well. Meal call it $20.00 & worth it plus I admit it's nice to come back to some of those roots/places that you know. read more

First time here and it was super cute and vintage, filled with regulars. FYI they are CASH ONLY. Service was friendly. We ordered an omelette and a breakfast sandwich with home fries and a side of onion rings. The food was tasty (though unseasoned) but it took 40 minutes to come out. It wasn't very busy and it's a small place so I have no idea why it took so long. Would have given it 4 stars if it weren't for that. read more

Couldn't believe what we went through today. Been coming here for year under the older staff. We sat down didn't get approached for over 15 min. Got coffee out our order in and waited over 45 min. While we watched others who got there later then us get fully served. And finish there food. We spoke with the waitress and she said our food was next but never answered us the question why are certain tables being served before us. So as we waited I watched the cook skip out ticket several time and another waitress was putting her tickets ahead of us. Another couple came in and got served within 10 min. I got up and approached the cook and she admitted to skipping orders because she needed to catch up. Asked for a manager and NOBODY wanted to step forward. The attitude stink these new people are careless. Will not go there again. I had family from New York here and after bragging how good this place is, we left super disappointed and will never go there again. read more

if I could give this place zero stars it would be more generous than the horrible service I received because they don't even deserve to be in business. Might as well have a confederate flag next to Russ's name. Reminded me of some segregated South where customers should sit somewhere quietly to just wait and wait and wait while their preferred customers get served and eat after you're sitting to witness their complete disregard for time and management. We watched while 4-5 customers came in fresh off the street and get taken care of before us. When we asked our waitress she just didn't know and didn't take any accountability. When we asked the OTHER waitress she seemed to be the one who controlled the flow of why the cook would put through the orders she wanted to skip over ours. That OTHER waitress looked at me with hatred when I questioned what and why and how we waited an hour for no food. This was such a great find!! We love comfy neighborhood diners for breakfast and this is that!! The corned beef hash, while canned, was put on the grill and was good, as were the eggs and hash browns. My husband had Soecial #3, which was the equivalent of breakfast and dinner - huge! Everything was tasty and filling. The local rye bread was yummy. The restaurant is very clean and we loved the jukeboxes at each booth! The server was very pleasant and efficient. AMAZING BREAKFAST! We stopped in before heading to the equine affair at the Big E and it was delicious! We just searched maps for a local breakfast place and figured we'd give Russ's a try! What a hidden gem! The waitress was the sweetest, the woman who delivered our food was just as nice! The pancakes and French toast was the BEST we ever had. The home fries were delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly! Definitely making this place a stop next year when we are back in this area! read more

Also if yours does come with toast and you'd like to sub an English muffin it's a dollar or dollar fifty extra! Mediocre coffee. The waitress knows her regulars, asked how I enjoyed myself since she had not seen me in the place before. Ate here a few dozen times for breakfast while at Baystate. Five stars for a combo of above average diner food, excellent and friendly service. Lots of times the waitresses and cook will break out into song with the radio and a few times so did the patrons, kind of fun. But the real shining star here are their specialty pancakes usually only around on the weekends. If they have the cinnamon swirl on the menu GET IT, it's amazing and served with a glaze. Found this place on yelp. It was a few minutes from the hotel I was staying at in W Springfield, so very convenient for early breakfast. We were in town for a hockey tournament and wanted to grab a quick bite before the morning game. We found Russ's and although the restaurant was full, we found a couple of seats at the counter. We were in and out in 30 minutes which was perfect. This is a very no-frills, diner type place. The food was great, service was fast, and the value for the money was excellent. This is a good ol' fashioned diner that is located up the road from Baystate Medical Center. It has some solid breakfast options - the breakfast sandwich is decent. There are some fancier breakfast joints with some slightly better food, but if you need a quick bite to eat after a night shift or need a bite before work, come here! A classic old style breakfast and lunch cafe. First make sure you bring your cash because they don't accept cards. I'll start with the service. All the waitress were friendly and gave us time to pick what we wanted. Made stops to make sure the food was good and if we needed anything. The price is worth the trip also. My meal, a two egg, broccoli, tomato, and Swiss omelette. It was served with a side of home fries and wheat toast. My girlfriend ordered a side of home fries and a grilled muffin. For my toddler one egg and toast meal. We all drank water and the price came to 18.19! Not bad for the amount of food. Now what they lack in taste they sure do make up for it in quantity and price. My girlfriend didn't eat her home fries or muffin. While she's a very picky eater, I myself can side with her and say the food just had no real flavor to it. The potatoes are nice big cuts but they are bland. My omelet was more veggies than egg and cheese. The veggies at least tasted fresh. Couldn't complain about the wheat toast. Plus you'll have to get over the fact the cooks don't use gloves. Overall I don't think I'll do breakfast again. I'll try lunch before I put it on the no thank you list. read more
