Lobster Roll (underwhelming)
Kenny C.

Unfortunately this is my second time trying Marlee Jean's, and my second disappointing experience. This time I got the Lobster Roll and the Chicken Wings. I am a Lobster Roll enthusiast, I have eaten Lobster Rolls from every north east coastal state and everywhere else I go - if there's a Lobster Roll on the menu there's a good chance that's what I'm getting. Unfortunately this one was one of my least favorites. There was no hint of sweetness, it was bitter and overly seasoned. The lobster meat itself was fine although I had to pick shell out of my mouth 3 different bites, and the flavors were just off to me. The roll was good, but we all know the star of the show is the lobster and it was just not doing it for me. The wings were dry. That's basically a deal breaker right off the bat, if the chicken isn't tender and juicy it's hard to enjoy them. I also had multiple flats with broken bones. I got the Cajun dry rub which was pretty good, but on a overly cooked dry wing it ends up overwhelming. You need a juicy wing to complement a strong seasoning. My first experience was right after they opened maybe a year ago or so, so I wanted to give them another try. Maybe they do good stuff with other dishes based on the reviews, but my experiences have been underwhelming.

Been twice now and frankly would enjoy making Marlee Jean's an every weekend date. First time we ordered then sat at the King Canary bar and this time sat at two of the four seats in front of the oyster bar. On both visits we've had the crab cake app and oysters. Other things we've tried have been the chili shrimp, ahi tuna wontons and grilled oysters. Also had an Alaska King Crab roll that was a special on the most recent visit. Everything we've tried has been fresh and delicious and the folks prepping it all are super friendly. Really great add to Davidson.

Poke bowl, truffle wedges and cuban panini

We very much enjoyed lunch at Marlee Jeans today. We were looking for a nice cocktail and some appetizers and that we got! I had the poke bowl and hubby got the cuban panini and truffle wedges. More food than we needed and was all delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is beautiful.

The shorty & Lobster roll

The Shorty & lobster roll were super good! The brioche on the roll was to die for !! Will definitely come back

Fresh oysters

Besides the attentive service and friendly staff, the food was delicious. I had fresh oysters and mushroom flatbread at my last visit. Highly recommend trying everything on the menu headed by award winning Chef Erick and Amanda!

Really delicious lobster roll! Maybe a little too much bread but really tasty.

Don't sit in the bar area, sit at the counter. It is an interesting upscale counter serservice concept. The seafood is fresh and most of the items are from the NC coast. Best tuna nachos and lobster roll I have had in a long time. Also the broiled oysters were really tasty. They just opened a week ago so I only expect things to get better.

Here was our experience: Ambiance: Very cute old building in Cornelius. Charming set up. Good for a date night or a smaller dinner. 8.5/10 Service: Our server was awesome. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Also, perfectly attentive. 9/10 Drinks: I had a Jack 12 year for $24 (great price) and an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof for $18 (not bad). My wife had a cocktail which was great and lovely. Bartender was super friendly. 10/10 Appetizers: We ordered 4 oysters which were perfect, fresh and well accompanied by homemade crackers and sauces (10/10). Also, ordered the brussels sprouts which were solid but less spectacular than their description (8.5/10). Entree: This is the one area that was a disappointment. My wife and I shared the tuna with crispy potato salad. I was super adamant that we want the tuna seared/ as raw as possible. Neither my wife or I enjoy cooked tuna. We even joked with the server to just "threaten the tuna with flame" as opposed to cook it. When it came out, it was at least 50% cooked with a little bit of pink in the middle. My wife was super disappointed and this kinda ruined her experience. Maybe we should have sent it back but we ate it. 3/10 If the tuna was cooked correctly, I probably give it a 5 star because we really enjoyed it. But cooking the tuna wrong in a michelin star restaurant after how adamant we were is kind of a huge miss. Maybe we will give it another shot.

We didn't use it on this visit, but they offer valet service, which is useful because of the parking congestion that can occur at Birkdale. My first impression was that this is a very beautiful restaurant. There is lots of lighting, thoughtful artistic pieces, and it has an airy, aquatic ambiance. Even the restrooms were lovely! There is an outdoor patio, as well as a front dining area where the bar is, and a rear dining area with visibility to the kitchen. The front and rear areas are separated by a glass waterfall sign bearing the restaurant's name. We had an absolute outstanding server named Saige. She was attentive and made great recommendations for us. To start, we had Caesar salads. The presentation of these was unique, having somewhat of a ruffled appearance. For the second course, we tried the sautéed shrimp with Cajun spice and charred bread as well as bacon wrapped scallops with Calabrian tomato jam. Finally, for the third course, we had the hanger steak with blue cheese butter and new potatoes. I love blue cheese, and I really loved it as an addition to this dish. Every item I tried, I would order again. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for dessert, but we've heard they are fantastic...next time! After dinner, we went and sat at the bar for a little while, and the staff there was just as delightful. Dining here was a whole experience that I plan to repeat again in the future!

Antico Italian is the real deal. After eating at plenty of so-called Italian restaurants, this…read moreplace stands out immediately. One thing I really appreciated is that they don't use garlic in their sauces. Instead, they let the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves, which is something you don't find at most fake "Italian restaurants around here. They also use authentic DOP San Marzano tomatoes, and you can absolutely taste the difference. It's amazing how many places overcomplicate Italian food when the best versions are often the simplest. The penne alla vodka was excellent perfectly cooked pasta with a smooth, balanced sauce that wasn't overloaded with garlic or heavy cream. The wine list was another pleasant surprise. The prices are very reasonable, which is becoming harder to find these days. My only complaint is the lasagna. They use ricotta, and I personally prefer traditional lasagna made with béchamel. That's literally my only criticism. What really made the experience even better was the owner. She came over, talked with us for a while, and you can tell she id passionate about what she's serving. That personal touch goes a long way. This is officially my new favorite restaurant. If you're looking for authentic Italian food instead of the typical Americanized version, Antico Italian is absolutely worth a visit.

They do not take reservations, so you have to get there to get on list. Today happened to be a perfect Tuesday evening to go; there was no wait. The waitress wasted no time to come over and share all the appetizer and main course specials. She did a great job explaining the dishes and answering any concerns. If she wasnt sure, she made sure to get clarification with any substitutions. Everything we had was very good. Each item was either fresh or well seasoned. After an amazing dinner, we were offered the dessert menu. We all were full but the waitress reminded us that we would get a complimentary teramisu or cannoli for my aunts birthday. We picked the tiramisu. Which was amazing. The ambiance is very warm with low-light dining. Will definitely be returning for special occasions or if company comes to town. See you again Antico
