We checked out FunkHeizer's Diner, one of Huntersville's newer additions, and came away impressed! They opened in April 2026, and if this first visit is any indication, they're off to a great start. Nice Lake Life vibe throughout the restaurant. Our waiter, Eros, was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and on top of things without hovering--the sweet spot when it comes to restaurant service. But the award for best personal touch goes to Rob, the manager. When he took our reservation, he created a menu-sized sign welcoming us to the restaurant. How fun is that?! He also stopped by our table during dinner to check on us. It's those little extras that make you feel like an actual guest rather than just another table number. Now, let's talk food! I ordered the American Smash Burger and added bacon because... honestly, why wouldn't I? The burger was excellent, and the fries were crispy, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. Around the table we had the Breakfast Burger, Chicken Cordon Bleu with potatoes, and meatloaf. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and there were zero complaints from the table--and trust me, that's saying something! And then there's the price. Very reasonable, especially compared with other restaurants serving this type of food. It's nice to leave a restaurant feeling satisfied without going broke. Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices, and thoughtful touches. FunkHeizer's is definitely off to a strong start. Welcome to Huntersville--we'll be back!

Their service here is really good. They checked on us all the time, but we weren't rushed, they opened doors for us, filled our water, gave me a brand new coffee for the road, and were friendly. The food was good, my omelet could've been more seasoned, but the grits were really good. It's like a plain diner inside, not a ton of decor, but it was clean and nice.

We are staying in Concord and used Yelp to find somewhere new for dinner. So happy we followed the good advice to give this place a try. They actually had me at breakfast served all day. I saw reservations were not required so I messaged them a heads up about our 6 top at 5pm. They quickly messaged me back letting me know that they were ready for us. We arrived to many open tables with ours displaying a welcome sign holding our reservation. Though it felt like many different team members came to our table to assist us with everything from sitting us to menus, drinks, appetizers and refills our main server was Eros. He took our order of chips and quac (fresh and delicious) then onto entrees of sausage/bacon eggs Benedict with home fries, breakfast sandwich with home fries, smash burger and fries, meatloaf with mashed potatoes & corn and chicken cordon blue (stacked, not rolled and fried) with mashed potaties. Everything was hot, delicious and plentiful. We ended with chocolate cake and carrots cake with lots of spoons. (Yummy). We were sure to share our outstanding experience with manager Rob. By the time we left, the place was filled up with patrons. Look forward to returning again soon. Enjoy!

Fresh Egg - Where Diets Go to Die (Happily)…read more Our group of 4 1/2 (yes, somebody only ate half their plate because self-control showed up late ) walked into Fresh Egg thinking we were just grabbing breakfast... and walked out needing a nap and a moment of silence. Let's talk FOOD. That omelet? Fluffy like it trained at egg boot camp. Stuffed with sausage, ham, bacon, cheese basically the Avengers of breakfast. The home fries were crispy golden cubes of perfection. Not soggy. Not greasy. Just straight-up breakfast excellence. The ham slices were thick and flavorful like they meant business. That biscuit sandwich? Soft, buttery, and holding everything together like a breakfast superhero. And those cheesy grits? Creamy enough to make you emotional. Add melted cheddar and it's basically Southern comfort in a bowl. Portions? Generous. Flavor? Elite. Coffee? Flowing like we were at a caffeine convention. Now let's talk about Jonathan Jonathan delivered AMAZING service. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being forced, and on top of everything like a breakfast conductor running a delicious orchestra. Drinks stayed filled, food came out hot, and he made sure our whole crew felt taken care of. That kind of service turns a good meal into a great experience. The vibe inside? Busy, lively, happy breakfast energy everywhere. You can tell this is a spot people return to again and again. Final verdict: We came hungry. We left full. We left smiling. And yes... we'll be back. Fresh Egg you cracked the code.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere and a welcoming vibe that makes it an enjoyable place to spend an evening. The location is convenient, and the space feels fresh, modern, and inviting. The service was also a highlight of the experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helped make the meal enjoyable from start to finish. The restaurant is known for its casual yet upscale ambiance, which definitely came through during our visit.  Where the experience fell a bit short for me was the food. Everything was prepared well and perfectly edible, but nothing really stood out or felt especially memorable. It wasn't bad by any means--just not quite at the same level as the atmosphere and service. I went for the lobster tail ravioli, and it was just a bit too chewy for my taste. I was hoping for a dish that would make me eager to come back, but that didn't happen on this visit. I could, however, come back. I would give it a second chance and would like to try drinks from the bar.  Overall, Torrence and Knox is a great spot for the ambiance, service, and overall dining experience. If you're looking for a comfortable place to meet friends, enjoy drinks, or have a relaxed night out, it's definitely worth a visit. I'd return for the atmosphere alone and would be interested to try more of the menu in the future.

The staff was very friendly, and everything in the pastry case looked amazing. Unfortunately, the dining area was somewhat dirty and disorganized. I realize that was probably a combination of customers not cleaning up after themselves and the staff being too busy to keep pace, but there was food smeared in several places, and we had to do quite a bit of cleaning before we could settle in. We really wanted to love this place, but we left disappointed overall. My croque monsieur was the clear standout--a genuine 10 out of 10. It was absolute perfection. Unfortunately, my wife's classic ham-and-cheese baguette was the exact opposite. The ham and cheese were excellent, but the baguette was blackened on the bottom and so tough that she couldn't bite through it. She eventually gave up and ate only the meat and cheese. A baguette should have a satisfying chew and a good crust, but it shouldn't require a battle. When you visit a French bakery, freshly baked bread should be one of the highlights. The turkey salad side was also unappealing. It contained a seasoning neither of us cared for, and the overall dish felt greasy and heavy. It needed some fruit, nuts, or another bright element to provide contrast and balance. The tomato soup served with my sandwich was perfectly decent, but it wasn't noticeably better than a good premade soup from the grocery store. We also tried a pear pastry, chocolate chip cookies, and another pastry roll. Nothing was bad, but nothing was particularly memorable, either. Everything was simply okay. We would be willing to give the bakery another chance and sample some different pastries. The bread used for my croque monsieur was outstanding, so I would gladly return for a loaf of that if it's available to purchase. Overall, however, the experience was good rather than memorable, and we don't feel any urgency to return. To those about to nosh, we salute you--and hope you don't break your jaw on an overcooked baguette!

I tried the corn beef hash and while it was described as house made, I would venture to guess it's actually high-quality store-bought, corned beef, finally minced and seasoned with the potatoes even so it was very good! The grits were really creamy although you can tell they're cooked with chicken broth rather than heavy cream, which is the traditional southern way. It is a bit small inside maybe 10 tables total but they have a nice patio in front that's fairly expensive. I would definitely return as a regular to this establishment. I ordered and picked up, everyone was nice at pick up. I had to go with the famous food Network sandwhich, The squawking goat. This was a biscuit with perfectly seasoned fried chicken, topped with fried goat cheese and pepper jelly! Every bite was delicious. The fried goat cheese was fried perfect and when you bite into it, it oozed out. I loved the pepper jelly as well, it leaned more on the sweeter side but I didn't mind it all. We also tried the chicken waffles. Again very good. The waffle was seasoned nicely. I personally like my waffles harder, but could of been the drive back to house that softened it up. But the flavor was on point so was okay with it. The chicken like in my biscuit was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Tried their churro(iced) latte. Loved it, my mind was set on a super sweet drink BUT this was not at all, was a perfect blend and balance. We got a side of crispy potatoes, weren't a fan of these, no flavor and not really that crispy. But by time we ate everything else the potatoes were an after thought. That be the only thing I wouldn't order again.
