I've come here tons of weekend nights, never a bad time. There is a $10 cover though, but that's because there's usually a live band and house DJ. Always a mix of 80's, 90's hits and club jams. Honestly have never eaten here and I grew up in this area, we had a party of nine which wanted to eat at The Chegg but the wait for a table was almost three hours. We ended up getting a table for dinner shortly after a few drinks at the bar. Bar tenders very attentive and friendly, which is hard to find at times. The server was O.K., nothing blew us away with our experience. Food was okay at best. There are too many amazing places near by to eat which makes this a tough call. Just OK. I mainly go there for dinner though not the bar. It is never crowded when we go in there, I think because the food is really nothing special and it's expensive as all get out! Plus it's a little dark in the dining area--and you can see into the kitchen from the dining area. I guess that's a plus for some people but for me not so much. (which were very weak for what we paid) my boyfriend explained to the bar tender we paid a $20 cover and $16 for a drink that barley had alcohol... instead of the bartender accommodating his paying customers, he immediately called the owner and the bouncer over to kick him out. They then got extremely physical and even grabbed our friend to push her out as well (While she was just trying to communicate) I was the last of our group to walk out and I calmly tried talking to the owner, and he guided me out without listening to me explain how I thought his bar tender was ignorant instead of considerate. Wound up here by default due to the crowd July 4th week. For a party of only four, we were sat pretty quickly and the Food was EXCELLENT. The Scallops with corn risotto, Seafood scampi & Crab ravioli along with fresh Oysters and the lump crab meat with Avocado apps were all outstanding! My first time in LBI and we had no idea where to go as the reviews were all over the place. Marlin looked pretty nice. The menu didn't have a lot of options - a couple pizzas, some pasta and a few seafood items. In the end our check came to about $90. We had 2 beers, a soda, half dozen oysters as an appetizer, and the scallops and the stuffed shrimp for our main meals. I liked the warm bread and great service (very nice attentive waitress) but not much else. The oysters weren't cleaned particularly well but we ate them. The scallops were cooked decently but had no flavor. The mushroom "risotto" was not a risotto at all as it was dry and sticky with no flavor. The seasonal vegetables were fine. My boyfriend said his stuffed shrimp were ok but I tried a bite and found it also completely lacking in flavor. It was a disappointing seafood experience and would not recommend it. At the end of the meal I went to the restroom and discovered it was smelly, a little dirty and had broken locks on some doors and flies. read more

My experience at The Marlin was a very good. This was my first time experiencing such a wonderful establishment. The food was amazing. The service was the best I have ever seen. My servers name was Fred, he is a very good waiter, he has a very good personality. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to taste wonderful food. Also this restaurant is totally family friendly. Overall the environment of this restaurant was AMAZING!!!! Unfortunately the reason it not 5 stars is because the men's facility was not up to par. My family and I went to this restaurant while on vacation here. When we walked in the host walked up to us and didn't smile or say one word. Then once we were seated there were 3 tables surrounding us that were empty but had the used dirty dishes and cups still on the table and they were still like this over an hour later when we were leaving. The table next to us received their dinner but never their appetizer and were told the order was lost so they'll take it off their bill but they still didn't receive them, which personally I feel they should've received them for free then. Anyway, the food we received was good, I will say that. Our waiter then asked if we needed anything else and once we said no he said he would bring the check. Then we saw him have a conversation at another table (which is fine bc they were customers too) and then go to ANOTHER table to take their order and they were a party of 8+. The manager saw us sitting there for 10-15 min and asked if we were waiting for our check and finally she brought it to us. Overall, the food was good but I would not go back to a place that didn't clean 3 dirty tables the whole 1.5 hours we were there and forgot other tables food and our check. I have been a customer of the Marlin for over 20 years. I had a house there but now We come 1 week a year. I made all my reservations for the week 2 months in advance and wrote down who I spoke to. Since we are a group of 10 including 4 children I only go to places that take a reservation. Originally I made a reservation at the Marlin for Friday the 23 then remembered about their lobster special being Monday. So I changed it. I wrote down the names of the people I spoke too, one was Jennifer and one was Michelle. Called that day to confirm not only did they not have my reservation they denied having people work there by those names. If you know me ,which you don't , I am very meticulous about this. You can imagine the difficulty and frustration I felt being responsible for the group and finding something in such short notice. Needless to say I would never trust them with my reservation again and you've lost a long time customer. read more

My family and I when to the marlin for dinner for my daughters birthday. We had a reservation for 6pm at 7 we still had no food and all the tables around us were served. Then they brought all the food at different times half the table were served .The food was cold and did not taste good at all. At the end of the the night everyone was served but me and I revived the check and my plate to take home. This was the worst service I have revived ever. I am is the customer service business and would never treat my customers in that fashion. Um... NO We were a party of 10 for a friend's birthday and were seated at a table over the carpeted section of the restaurant. I guess someone couldn't be bothered to properly clean the area after the last guests, so I had to sit through dinner trying not to touch the greasy table and doing my best to ignore the crumbled crackers that occasionally made their way into my sandals. Our drinks took a solid 20 minutes to get to us, and then we ordered. I got the vegetable pizza, which they should rename "the onion explosion" for accuracy (no joke - there was a pile of onions on the pizza alongside a couple of peppers and one or two slices of zucchini). Sauce tasted like chef boyardee... gross. way too expensive for mediocre food and service. And then there's the nightlife.... (crickets chirp). Definitely will never be going back here. My friends and I called to see if there was a band on 8.19 and they told us yes and there would be a $10 cover charge. Before we got in we had to show two forms of ID...strike #1. Once we get in the girl at the register tells us it's $20 per person...strike #2!!! We told her over the phone they told us $10 and she said no way. That is absolutely ridiculous for a little shore bar plus, she was so rude! However, it was late and we just wanted to get in after waiting on the long line outside. When we got in we got drinks at the main bar, which totaled to $19, then got the exact same order at the side bar for $21...strike #3. By the end of the night we were dodging broken glass and spilt drinks all over the floor...strike #4. If someone spills a drink a worker cleans it up at every other bar I've been to. This place was absolutely amazing. I've been here before, so this wasn't my first time at this place. When we went through the front door we were greeted by happy faces who seated us. We started by ordering drinks from a very nice waiter, and then we were almost surprised by an even more happy waiter who took our order. The menu has everything that everyone would want on it - burgers, pasta, seafood, meat, salads, soups, pizza, you name it. Did I also mention that they have an open kitchen with a brick oven to make the pizza? It was delicious. For my main I ordered the Truffle Burger, it was fantastic, it had truffle aioli, everything. People in my party also had mains which were delicious, along with lobster avocado salads which I tried myself and can say that it was one of the best. Wandered into this restaurant for the first time and didn't know what to expect. I was blown away! Excellent service! Our waitress, Tiffany, was friendly attentive and a pleasure in general. She went above and beyond not only in terms of service but in making us feel truly welcomed. The food came out almost immediately and our server gave us excellent recommendations thereof. Not to mention the food was INCREDIBLE along with the mixed drinks each of us got. We will definitely be back anytime we're down in LBI. From the atmosphere to the food to our server, everything could not have been any better. I look forward to returning again and telling those I know all about this restaurant. I really liked the atmosphere and location! The food and drinks were good, too! I gave this place three stars because of the service in the beginning of the night. We waited almost 15 minutes for drinks. We ordered alcoholic drinks and water upon arrivals. It took 15 minutes to get alcoholic drinks and then 5-10 minutes more for water. When I was a server, we were always told to have water on the table within the first two minutes. Service eventually picked up! read more
