This food shop had a great collection of different flavors they have the family box and also a personal box of fudge and so many different varieties that even if you loved one certain kind of fudge, you would wanna try a different size box with other selections of flavors. I went with a box that hold six and chose coconut, Mexican mole (spicy!), maple bacon, salted caramel, Toll House, and M&M. Each flavor was unique and delicious. I'm kind of a purist and just like the fudge regular and with nuts- divinity is my favorite but I have yet to find a store out here that carries true divinity fudge, I think its the weather that plays a factor. It's a little bit expensive but its crafted confections so I am ok with that - now, if I bought it allll the time then yes, it would be pricey - but as a treat or for special occasion or season - sure splurge a little!! IF YOU are going to place your name on a fudge-making outlet, as John Maschal does at his County Kettle Fudge stores on Long Beach Island, the least you can do when your customers purchase $50 worth of your product is to make sure the vanilla fudge you sold him tastes like vanilla, and that the rocky road tastes like rocky road! I spent $50 on fudge that I handed out as gifts back home, and the rocky road tasted like mint, the vanilla tasted burnt, the "Toll House" was more burnt vanilla with a couple of chocolate chips and walnuts thrown in, and the triple-chocolate tasted of mint. The triple-chocolate was the best of the bunch once you got past the initial mint taste. Such an embarrassing gift, but I guess John Maschal's Country Kettle Fudge IS like a box of chocolates...you never know what you are going to get for your $50! Ugh! read more

Since my mom is a complete and total fudge fiend I knew that I was destined to find some to bring home for a gift during my Long Beach Island Rendezvous. Fortunately Country Kettle made it fun with their fresh and unique flavors and many gift box offerings. Usually the fudge game will offer your typical chocolate, dark chocolate, peanut butter, and either of the above with nut or marshmellow added. But the Kettle took it up a notch by offering varieties like mint chocolate chip, pistachio, and maple BACON! all are dished out by the pound, but the gift box offerings make it so simple to walk out with several options, that I ended up walking out with 8 good sized varieties for under $25. Add in the solid customer service and samples when needed, and it was a gift well shopped for. My mom and cousin both sent fudge to me. Both times it arrived stale. The tiny bit that was edible was not good fudge. My mom called about the order she sent me to let them know it was stale. I was hoping they would do the right thing and refund her. My mom had sent the fudge for Christmas and I know it wasn't cheap. They didn't offer to refund her money. Holy fudge! Pardon my French, but this is a must-do when shopping around in Bay Village. Skip the candy store on the boardwalk and make a bee line for this place if you have a giant sweet tooth. I've been coming to LBI for years and it has always been a nice place to stop at when shopping in Bay Village. I was there today and was very disappointed. The girls behind the counter seemed to bored to actually help you. Sorry to bother them, but that's why it's called work. Most of the fudge was as delicious as usual, but I purchased a sampler pack and one of the samples tasted like plain sugar as if someone forgot the extra flavoring. I have visited a lot of different Fudge shops and they are pretty much all the same. This location sits in Beach Haven village on the bay side near the water park. It doesn't look like much, but inside they make the fudge fresh everyday at 4pm and they offer more selections than I have ever seen in any shop. Plus they allow you to taste test any selection and sell the fudge in all different sizes allowing mixed boxes. The staff is all young kids but they were very friendly and helpful and offered selections on what their favorites were. We enjoyed buying samples of each however the prices are a bit steep. After all, it is only fudge but these prices were almost like buying truffles. Other than that it was great tasting and a nice treat! read more

The maple walnut fudge is right next to the peanut butter so it was clearly a mistake on their part and they would not replace it???? The maple walnut fudge was not eaten!!!! That is poor business. Tried a bunch of their flavors, wasn't really impressed by any of them (except maybe for the java chip). Tastes like straight sugar more than fudge, which might be more acceptable if they didn't have such high prices. The "spicy Mexican chocolate" tasted like nothing but cinnamon and the maple bacon was just bad (and I love bacon). Salt water taffy is okay.
