I have been reaching out to Ruth Farrington for months trying to get my cabinet doors replaced. The quality is not as promised and when I sent her pictures she responded that they would get me new ones. But nothing after that, no response after repeated emails. In store experience was good and we were excited to move on cabinets and new countertops for entertainment area. Within a day, got a call from representative and set up appt to visit our home. A few red flags at this point: no promised email for visit confirmation and late for appt on the scheduled day (I called her, and she said she was on her way). Took measurements and said I would likely hear from her in a week or two. Three months later, nothing. Probably best I didnt waste my money along with my time. read more

Johnson Builders aka Johnson Construction and Marling Lumber got a pretty good scam going on in the roof business. I heard from a friend at work that Rick Johnson is good at putting metal roofs on and he does a good job. He will take care of me the guy said. I had him give me an estimate and he said you pay for the materials and I will do it for $1500 labor. The total cost for a garage roof was $5,100. A little high I thought, but it needs to be done. He came and put it on after a few months of not communicating with me and letting me know anything. He just called one day and showed up the next morning and did it. It took under 4 hours to do. I actually planned on holding off, the guy waited so long to call me and let me know what his plan was. Originally, I wanted to pay for the materials upfront on my card and then pay him afterwards, maybe with cash. Now, I realize why he never called me back and had me pay for them. Before he put the roof on, I asked him how much the materials were and he told me about $3600. Plus $1500 for labor is $5,100. I called to pay my bill to Marling and the person who I was supposed to deal with wasn't there, so I spoke to another guy. He said the materials came to $2,300. Those are the only tickets open. There was one open ticket for all the metal and one for the lumber. I waited to pay the bill when the person who I was supposed to deal with was in. Her name was Monica. The deal was, I would just pay Marling Lumber the whole amount, and Marling would then pay Rick. I thought nothing of it. I called to pay the bill and asked how much the materials were. She said about $3,600. I said, I called a few days ago and they were $2300. Now they are $3,600? Can you itemize them for me so I know what I am paying? She said not right now. I said, so I am calling to pay you over $5,000 and you can't specify to me exactly what I am paying? I wanted an exact dollar amount and she refused to give me one. She also refused to give me a receipt. She said she would send me one by the end of the week. I told her, I am paying you $5,100 and you cannot give me an itemized list or a receipt. Again, she said no. I told her I was on to their plan and had been lied to about the cost of materials. She got argumentative then. The first guy was honest with me about the cost of materials, because he did not know about the scam. The second person I spoke with, Monica, was in on it with Rick. A week later and I am still waiting on a receipt from either Marling Home Builders, or Johnson Builders. I feel as if they do not want any receipts. Bottom line was it was a game, they both lied to me and I knew that they were trying to cover it up. I will never do business with either company ever again. I asked for an itemized list of costs and a have yet to get one a year later. read more

I took time off of work to accommodate the consultant's schedule. She was late to the appointment, and I had to call her to get any reassurance she planned to follow through. While professional and nice once she did show up, we were told we'd hear something in a matter of weeks. We're now over a month, and have had no word to tell us anything. Wasted my time, wasted vacation, will not be wasting my money. read more

So many problems with updating our kitchen. We worked with them because they had our cabinets that we originally had. We ordered more cabinets, crown molding, and counters. What should've been a easier project has taken months. Crown molding has come wrong twice. Quartz Countertops are still messed up. First measured wrong for our island. The back counter had a crack in it so they had to take it out and replace it, but had to come get the old piece to color match it to the piece next to it. Then they figured out the island but marling was supposed to move a cabinet and didn't. Now when we think it's done the counter isn't even glued down properly and it wiggles So much time off from work and coordinating schedules even didn't show up at all when they said they would. Marling has a lack of communication. I would never recommend them! So disappointing! read more

They are horrible. The subs tell them their schedule. Half a year for a small room with very poor lack-of-"craftsmanship." Don't trust them.

Bought a door 2 years ago no problems, go back to get another door, we want to match the doors. The salesman is no longer in sales. Encountered Jeff J, he writes up 2 "quotes" the proceeds to order the wrong door. We are told they make the doors themselves. WRONG!! They use a company right in the town that I live! We told Jeff we came in from Milwaukee to purchase from them. Do you think he could have said hey the door is made there, skip coming back here and the gas and pick up there? NO! We go back to Janesville, get the door come home only to find out it's the wrong door, he ordered the wrong size door! We call and get no where except to hear him say "ah huh, ah huh" We had enough and talked to Scott Bower the Manager he talked to JEFF and Jeff calls us back to say that he will order us another door AT COST!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! We said YOU SCREWED UP JEFF! He would never admit it! We said we can take you to small claims and then he talked to Scott his manager and said they would get us the correct door. We found out that we can pick up the door ourselves right in Milwaukee where they are made, NOT MADE BY MARLINGS!!! I called the owner TOM MARLING who questioned why I was calling him and I explained the whole story and he acted like he didn't believe me. He called back to say that JEFF made a mistake writing 2 quotes, Tom said he was sorry and I said we wasted gas driving to Janesville to get a door that was MADE in Milwaukee! He offered us a gift card for our troubles and I said so what we can come and spend more money at your store?? I don't think so! Bottom line....READ THE QUOTE THAT JEFF WRITES UP...HE MESSES UP AND NEVER SAYS HE'S SORRY ONLY MAKES EXCUSES! ASK WHERE THE DOOR IS MADE~IF IT SAYS WESTERN IT'S MADE IN MILWAUKEE, WI. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEM! OVER 100 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS AND THIS IS HOW THEY ARE TREATING CUSTOMERS! read more
