Ok so I really don't understand the hype in the ratings. I guess maybe because this is one of the few 24 hour places around? Anyway food wasn't horrible, but overpriced for sure. Again don't get me wrong, the food was not bad at all. Was not priced accurately though. Next issue. Now mind you it was 8pm on a Tuesday but still the staff was extremely disfunctional. There was one gal doing all the work, Liz I believe was her name, and that was it. The host or manager maybe? Blue shirt, he was pleasant and helpful, but there were 2 other waitresses standing around talking... For the HOUR and a HALF we were in there. Meanwhile Liz was running acrossed the place waiting on virtually every table. This is why I would say service was bad. If Liz had a reasonable amount of people to manage I believe it would have been more than acceptable. She was even correcting the cook! Liz needs a raise (substantial at that being virtually the only reason I would return) and the tools fooling around should be fired. Very poorly run. On the plus side the scenery was nice and unique, they are 24 hours, and they have Liz. I'll sum it up to that. Will not be back unless I have time to wait for Liz to bring me my food. read more

worst experience ever at Marlins! 3 tables had customers at them. 10 tables had not been cleaned off and when we sat down our table had ketchup smeared on our table. the waitress came over and placed the menu over the ketchup stain and when our food came placed our plates over ketchup smear! didn't offer to wipe down table! waitress didn't come back to our table after we got our food. food was burnt to a crisp!!! Marlins in Aberdeen has really went down hill!!!! Felt like had to take a shower after that experience! Food was good except for one sandwich getting burnt. waitress we had was horrible!!! wish I wouldn't have left a tip!! I believe the waitress didn't return because table was dirty was one sandwich was burnt and didn't want to have to deal with it! BUT HOW CAN YOU NOT CLEAN OFF TABLES!! I was looking for something light for a late dinner and went for the soup and salad bar. It turned out to be the saddest salad bar I've seen in a long time. Basic lettuce with some tiny carrot shreds in it. There were virtually no other vegetable options to add to it aside from some pale cucumbers and some radishes. No tomatoes, carrots, peppers, olives, mushrooms, peas. I then turned to the soup bar. This was mixed. The potato soup was cream based and extremely bland. I did try a little bit of the chili and it was quite good with a little spice to it. I also had their apple pie, which was really good. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I'm giving two stars based on the food I had. The staff were great and I'm guessing other items might be good, but I won't be back to check. read more

Located at a gas station (truck stop), Marlins provides the locals a place to come and visit with each other and enjoy a hot meal. There are specials throughout the week (Wednesday all you can eat spaghetti & Friday all you can eat fish) to draw folks in. My experience was average. I am not a local and guess I was looking for something with a wow factor or something an actual cook prepared. I was presented the option of breakfast buffet or order off the menu. Most items are short order type food items. I decided against the buffet so I could get fresh food. I waited nearly 30minutes for my food. It tasted ok. Overall, there's nothing here to draw me back. Nothing about it earns my business over any other place in town. I wouldn't steer people away from it however. Most people here know each other and genuinely enjoy the fellowship which was a factor I couldn't share in from being out of town. read more

Waited over an hour for our breakfast food. Not one word from the waitress on the status of our order. I went to the counter to ask how much longer it would be and informed them how long we have been waiting. Our waitress came back with excuses and no mention of taking a little off our bill. The table behind us waited an hour but left, fed up and without food. The food was good and hot, at least, but the service was poor. Never saw a manager come out. Will not be returning to that mess anytime soon. read more

Probably some of the worst service and food in 48 states! Ordered the Sunday special, pot roast at 4:37 and was then informed that it was only from 5-9. I told her to bring it to me at 5. At 5:07 she came and re- took my order! At 5:23 I received my dinner from who I think was the bus person. Mashed potato was a crappy instant. I think the pot roast came from a boil in bag because of the water on the plate. Veggie medley the garbage of what vegetables were there. The roll was Hawaiian roll so that tasted fine but they don't serve butter they have "spread"! I took my salad to go hoping they couldn't have done that wrong but who knows. I guess I shouldn't expect much considering where I am in the country. read more

Now THIS is what I like to see! A truck-stop with an excellent restaurant that cooks good ole' homemade favorites like omelettes, pie and hot sandwiches. Not only can we get diesel fuel, clean our windows, take a nap but we can also have a good meal. My kinda place. We always eat our dessert first and we loved the large selection of pies they offered. We ended up with a slice of coconut creme and the cherry pie. Cold or hot, they were delicious. Definitely take some to go! Now we were absolutely starving and chose to go with the big breakfast which came with country fried steak, two eggs, hashbrowns, and toast (opt for the biscuits and gravy instead, trust me) and get yourself a side of bacon! Everything was wonderful. I loved the fact that you can add onions and cheese to your hashbrowns and that the bacon was crispy! Service was spot-on, our table was clean, the prices were very reasonable and the food was great, we will most definitely be back to Marlin's. read more

I liked it, my wife and I like going out to breakfast. We just came from a city with five times the population, it was easy to find a good place to eat, also there everything was opened on Sunday. Here it's not so easy, places are either closed, or not our favorite. This place wasn't bad though, I judge a place by getting the same thing everywhere: Pancakes, eggs and bacon. No one should be able to mess that up, and marlins didnt. read more

Great value, great service and delish food. Had the two dinners for $20 and we got the country fried steak dinners complete with potatoe, veggie, coffee/tea and a piece of pie! Kids eat free on Sat. Night. Can't ask better than that. read more

Is this the worst restaurant I have ever ate at. The service was terrible, food was cold and management is rude.

This used to be a good restaurant. Had the all you can eat spaghetti. Where do I begin? The noodles were not cooked right. The sauce tasted like it was made from ketchup and butter. The meatballs were small and hard. And the promised garlic bread turned out to be ordinary toast. I thought I was being a Nancy for complaining but could only eat half a plate. Now as I lay in bed at 4 am, my stomach is churning, and I know I picked the wrong entree. Maybe even the wrong restaurant. read more

My buddy and I had dinner here while on a Pheasant hunting trip. The 4 star rating is a joke. Both of our meals were like a cheap TV dinner. We literally left there hungry and had to stop at Taco Johns. This place gives truck stops a bad name. Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere. read more

I'm from Louisiana and I lived there in Aberdeen for about 10 months and it was my absolute favorite place to eat! The service is great, the bathrooms are cleaned. The food is amazing! I definitely recommend trying the cheese curds and the pot roast! read more

I really enjoyed this particular stop for breakfast and dinner when I took my family there. The place is very clean. Kid friendly. Very nice and friendly staff, too. Our waitress, Kerry, and the supervisor, Nick, went out of their way to chat with us visitors passing through town a few times. I think it's rare to pass through a small and busy town, stop at a local diner, and have people in it so professional and friendly, that you want to return again just to get to know the people! And the food was great too. I forget the exact name of the meal on their menu, but if you order their cornbread layered with eggs & gravy and sausage, you won't be disappointed! It's like a sausage McGriddle, only larger, fresher, and better (because it has delicious gravy, too). The second morning we stopped by, my wife ordered the same meal too, because she tried the cornbread meal I ordered the day before. So delicious. read more

I was born and raised in Aberdeen and have eaten pretty much everywhere in this town in 39 years. Marlins used to be Starlite turck stop and I think I only ate there a couple times growing up. It changed to Marlins at some point and I went there back in 2007 because it was the only place open in the middle of the night. The food was absolutely delicious. You get big servings for a decent price and the people who work there are very friendly. It isn't a super classy place because it's a truck stop but that doesn't matter. The food is the best in town. I even got my mom who usually likes fancy places to like going there. I will even go to other Marlins in the state because I know I'm going to get great food. Their Hot Beef and Hot Turkey Combos are wonderful. Ribs and Cheese Omelettes are great. Everyone should try this place out. It's like home-cooking. Love it!!! read more
