Unfortunately, Marlow Shoe Repair is not the same place I remember from a few years ago. I brought in eight pairs of tennis shoes to be cleaned and was told they would be ready in seven days. I returned after nine days, but they needed more time. There had been no communication that he was struggling to clean some of the shoes or that additional time was needed. When I returned 14 days after the original drop-off, he told me he needed five more minutes. I ended up waiting another 30 minutes before receiving my shoes, and they were still only partially cleaned. The sides of the soles had been cleaned halfway, and the bottoms had not been cleaned at all. When I pointed out the remaining dirt, the cobbler became very argumentative and took no responsibility for the poor communication, repeated delays, or incomplete work. He used a paper towel to remove some of the dirt while simultaneously insisting that it could not be removed--which made no sense because I could see it coming off as he wiped. Having to haggle with a professional about whether a visibly dirty shoe is actually dirty is unreasonable. He offered a small discount, but considering the two-week delay, lack of communication, extended wait at pickup, and condition of the shoes, the discount should have been much more substantial. I understand that some stains may be difficult to remove, but customers should be informed when there is a problem or when more time is needed. I would never come back here. The owner John said he didn't need the heel caps that came with the shoes because they use the same but you can see they don't have the same. Super bulky and I request for the high to be cut down per the owner advice but it doesn't feel like that was done when I wear the heels. The gummy's on the black shoes is black around the edges. The 4th picture is a shoe that I only wore once and the gummy on one of the shoe has a gap and the guy Chris who did it said it was my shoes which he seems to blame all of his horrible work on the shoes. I said then why does the other shoe not have a gap (see 5th photo). Last but not least my brand new nude shoes that I just got and never worn is absolutely ruined!!! The shoes are damaged with black shoe polish, scrapped up and the work done on it was horrific. I'm so disappointed and when I asked Chris about it he said it was the shoes fault. Photos 6 through 12 is a brand new pair of shoes worth $1100 and never worn but look at them now. I should have taken my expensive shoes else where and I regret ever going here or bringing them coffee/donuts. Never again!! The owner has the nerve to say I brought in nearly destroyed shoes!! Sir you are never there and I brought in two more pairs which one was brand new and the other one was worn once! I called the shop to speak to you and you are never there John and Chris never knows when you are coming in. You all ruined my shoes and I will be calling my bank to fight the charges. read more

Marlow shoe repair gave new life to two of my favorite pairs of shoes. I've had these Dior boots for over 15 years and the wear and tear was really starting to show. On top of that, I tripped and managed to separate the heel completely while also destroying some of the leather. Realistically, I knew that it was time to let them go but couldn't bring myself to do it. So I put them in the back of my closet for a couple of years and tried not to think about them. Then, Marlow Shoe Repair came into my life and promised me they could be saved. I had low hopes but had nothing to lose so I went for it. I am very happy to report that they did a phenomenal job!!! They look as good as new and the heels actually feel better than the original even! It was the same case with the Chanel heels. Writing a review on behalf of my mother. She took a pair of clogs to be repaired. Her request was to replace a gold nailhead in the front of the clog. The owner replaced the nailhead with a gold screw that looks nothing like the original nailhead. He also destroyed the wood inside of the shoe making it unwearable. The wood was damaged and nails are sticking through into the inside of the shoe. When my mother picked the shoe up, she showed the owner the damage and he denied responsibility and yelled, "Get the f*** out of my shop." My mother left the shop embarrassed and afraid. Let me begin by presenting flowers to this establishment. Exceptionally adept at creating shoes, fixing them, using high-quality materials, etc. As a regular customer, I often brought back the same pair of shoes and boots. I was devastated to learn that my boots (knee high leather Stuart Weitzman) --which I had received as a gift from a deceased family member--were likely donated because the ticket I presented was a year old. I paid for the repairs in advance and was asked to leave the boots because upon picking up the boots, they needed a little extra attention (gosh, wish I would have taken them then). Though I've called left my number and made visits to retrieve the boots within that period and thought I had established a rapport I am heart broken. I even mentioned to shoe cobbler's assistant that I had been in and called, he said, "It did not matter". One has two options when learning they have a devastating illness: let it bring you down or accept it and go on (I went with the latter). I've recovered, in remission and now caring for a loved one diagnosed with a blood and bone illness. John offered much encouragement and even helped me set-up my iPhone after my Blackberry stopped working back in April. Again, a great establishment. read more

I have owned a large Coach tote bag for 20+ years. I took very good care of it and rarely used it, but the zipper detached from the bag. I decided to try to have it repaired because the cost to replace the bag would be outrageous. I decided to see if Marlow Shoe Repair could repair the bag. Christian explained that he would have to meticulously remove and replace the zipper by hand because of all of the leather detailing. The workmanship here is shoddy to say the least, and the man working there knows nothing about customer service. Brought in a pair a boots to have the lug heel replaced. Both shoes were level when they were left to be repaired. When I picked them up, the lug heel had been replaced, but the left shoe is sitting uneven (the heel sits up in the back) while the right shoe sits flat and even from heel to toe. This man, in the name of customer service, wouldn't even take the time to try to shave it down a bit to make it even. It wouldn't have taken much to do it, and you could clearly see that they were uneven. This man immediately started yelling and arguing and refused to consider what was being "SHOWN" to him. Anyone could see that one is flat and the other is not. The man that works there is extremely unprofessional, argumentative, and unwilling to work with a customer in a kindly manner. The man there is very mean and nasty and refuses to service the customer properly even when warranted. If you're looking for professional and courteous customer service from a shoe repair establishment, this is not the place. Oh My! I just picked up a pair of boots and two authentic designer purses. Wow! All items look brand new! What I appreciate is that during drop the craftsman inspected each item and solicited my guidance on what I wanted done. He took his time explaining what could and could not be done. Lastly, he was honest about the time needed for quality craftsmanship. The boots were resoled and polished to a brand new shine. The purses look just like they did from their respective retailers, All the nicks and dings were repaired. The insides were cleaned and outside polished to perfection. The color matching, where necessary is flawless. Based on the outcome, the cost was worth every penny. I'll be back tomorrow to bring additional shoes. This is a one-person operation, at least the two times, I have patronized it. Patience is required during peak times. The lady in front of me did not have her ticket. It's unfortunate that in these difficult times a business would be haphazard with their customers. I've used Marlow Shoe Repair on one instance before and they did a great job, which is why I decided to take my boots to them again. I called first and all they have is a voice mail saying they are open come on through. I noticed their hours to be sure I was within their open times. I get there only to find a note that they will be back in 30 minutes. I wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait some more. The very FIRST visit, I took about 5 pairs of shoes. The first thing the dark haired guy said to me when I took my shoes our of the bag was - wow, you've got some really good shoes. Score! I went to this shop hoping that a hip brace could be repaired. I needed to replace parachute buckles and strappings on my daughter's hip brace. I attempt to hand sew the pieces but I did not feel comfortable that it would hold. i needed to be sure that the belts were secure. Within minutes; the repair man solved my problem by adding snaps! Recently, I dropped off 4 pairs of shoes and all were repaired very quickly and repaired very well. The customer service was truly remarkable. My Ferragamo shoes were vintage and had multiple problems with the sole, but Marlow Shoes was able to restore beautifully. The Ferragamo shoes were previously repaired by another shoe repair stores in Tysons Corner Mall and the soles fell off after less than 1 year and was unwearable. Again, Marlow Shoes repaired this really well. Lastly, Marlow Shoes placed their special Italian-made red soles on my Louboutins. I have not seen another shoe repair store able to put the red sole on these shoes and of course, we (shoe lovers) want to preserve that red sole! You can't go wrong with Marlow Shoes! read more

This place is absolutely horrible!!! I took well over 12 pair of collectors edition Nike/Jordan's to Marlow Shoe Repair (Tech's name is Christian) to have the soles reglued! After keeping my shoes for the majority of the year (kept postponing my pick ups due to their claims of repair challenges) they failed to fix a single pair!!! And when Christian finally admitted to me that they could NOT fix any of my shoes, I came in to pick them up only to find them all recklessly tossed in a filthy plastic container and covered in black dust/dirt and now completely destroyed! I will NEVER solicit this dump again! I greatly regret ever going to this place!!! As now my collectors edition shoes that simply needed some sole regluing are now still needing the soles redone and filthy in ways I'm not sure can be cleaned!!! I advise any/everyone to NEVER solicit this negligent crap while of a "business"! I just walked out of this place of business feeling like crap! That's not because of the product service but, due to the manner of how the owner with "more than 30 years" of experience dealt with me as a former customer. I had a purse strap repaired, but didn't notice until recently that it was glued and not sewn, like the original strap as I assumed it would be. So, I returned with the purse to inquire about this. The nice Black man (I wish I knew his name) took the purse to the back... then the owner came out "to address my concerns" however the tone of the conversation turned to him berating me for asking about other options because I wasn't expecting the glue, which I could have done myself. He did inform me that it could have been sewn, but they don't have the machine to sew this style; however, he guaranteed that the strap would not come apart because of the type of thermal glue they used. While still conversing, he walked away with the last word stating "I've been doing this for 30 years and have a line [ of 4 people behind me] of customers who can vouch for the work we do...." interestingly no one behind me said nothing. They looked like they just wanted their shoes, and this is the only option. I don't know....smh. But silence. Seriously, with 30 years of experience one would think you could handle customers much more professionally. I gave it 3 stars because of my previous experiences with the nice Black man and funny Hispanic guy (I wish I knew their names... slackness on my part) and the guarantee of the strip. My recommendation is that the owner stay in the back and let these two deal with the customers. I get the feeling that the store has been in the family for more than 30 years and passed on to the son. I may be wrong, but it's my theory. At least in my head, it makes sense as to why I received such treatment. Because most of his experiences have been sheltered in one particular world. I really try to analyze and see where things may have gone wrong, but I was in a great mood before going into this place. I took my Burberry slip-back black high heels to Marlow shoe repair. The bottoms needed to be replaced and the leather was moderately damaged and the color was blunt. The next day I received a new pair of Burberry shoes. Well, they were not a new pair, but the pair I had given them the day prior. I swear they looked better than when I first bought them. They replaced the bottoms of the shoes and polished the leather so they brand-new again. The service was amazing and flawless. I'm a lifelong customer of Marlow. Hanna, the man who helped me, was amazing and is so knowledgeable. In the past I would throw away old shoes even though they were designer and cost me a lot of money. Great place to get your shoes fixed. I went to have my heels fixed on a pair of boots. I wore the heel down to the nail. They fixed it perfect. The only thing that wasn't pleasant was the customer service. They guy who took my shoes barely talked to me. he had me to sign a paper and he just handed me a ticket without explaining anything to me. This place is great for shoe alterations. I brought them my Valentino boots to add a zipper. I don't understand how any designer can make boots without zippers, but that is another story. To even get my feet into the boots, I would need zippers. The owner spoke to me directly and assured that this can be done easily without damage to the boots. The cost of the alteration was quite reasonable as well. A week later, I went to pick them up and they look and fit beautifully! I will definitely be back with more shoes and boots. read more
