Unfortunately I cannot give this establishment what it deserves. I made the mistake of taking my barely worn Dr. Scholls sandals to Smooth for Repair. And, I was very clear that I wanted the broken buckle fixed on the one shoe but he had to match it with the buckle on the other shoe. My shoes were not repaired and ready for pickup on the initial schedule date. I returned a week later and he could not find my shoes so I left empty handed again. Repeat. I returned a week later and did not recognize the shoes presented to me as mine. Smooth ruined my shoes. The buckles do not match or close. I could have done better than this myself with a hammer and nails. The gag is that I had to pay upfront for this piece of work. So, I lost the money that I paid for the repair and the cost of the shoes ($115). read more

It is like buying a new pair of shoes, but better. I took four sets of shoes to be repaired. I got the heels and soles replaced on two pairs, one in which was a pair of dark brown leather boots that are my favorite. My boots are polished the soles and heals have been replaced, they feel like new. I am very happy that I found this place in Waldorf. I love shoes! So I take care of my shoes and try to get the most out of them. I was in need of a new shoe repairman and found one not too far from my home. The owner was very welcoming and personable. He spoke a little about his business and where he started. I was comfortable leaving a pair of boots with him to repair. He asked how soon I needed them back. There was no rush. He repaired my boots within a few days. I was happy with the results. He also cleaned and attempted to make my boots look as good as new. I will definitely be returning with more shoes and would recommend you not throw out your favorite shoes but give Smooth Shoes Repair a try. read more

I called him on a Monday and asked if he clean a pair of shoes for me and if he could possibly have the shoes ready by Tuesday but apologized for the late notice, he said sure no problem. But when I showed up, he said I wish you told me they were suede but I will try my best. Normally he charges a rush fee, but since it was my first time he waved the fee. Wow. I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism and distasteful customer service I just experienced from this company. I support just about every Black Owned Businesses I can, but this is one I will NEVER give my money to. I opened the door to the establishment around 5:45pm...I couldn't even get all the way in the door before I was told that they were actually closed. I said oh okay (the door was obviously unlocked and their posted hours say 10-7 on Friday) and they said "what can I do for you?" I said "I'm sorry I thought you all closed at 7". The worker agitatedly repeated "what can I do for you!?" (as he munches on a fried chicken wing). I proceeded to tell him what the issue was with my shoes and he told me it was going to be a trial and error type of situation...no big deal. He told me to complete an order slip. He mumbled (or maybe just had a mouth full of food...not sure) what sections he wanted me to complete on the order slip. I asked him, "do I fill out just my name?" He, again, very agitated says "I said your name and number". I said "okay I didn't hear what you said." He says "it's all good vibes over here." Or something like that. I said "okay because I'm getting a little confused with this customer service I'm receiving. He began to rave about how he has "5 Stars on Yelp and blah blah". I told him I hope my review brings his 5 stars down to 4 and I left. Again, I will never support or refer this business to anyone. read more

My shoes are often evidence of how hard I walk. Two pairs of boots - one black, one a brownish camel color - were both in pretty sad condition since purchasing them in 2014 from EBay. On the black boots, the rubber heel was loose (I had to keep tucking it back in) and it had remnants of mud that I couldn't get off from a rainy day. My brown boots had a hole by the toe. I took them to Smooth Shoe Repairs and he replaced the heel with a hard rubber heel (nailed in, so it probably won't ever come loose). He repaired the hole in my brown boots and he shined and polished both boots so well, they look brand new. Both for a total of $60. Now, I don't need to buy any more boots. There's nothing like getting to keep the items you love. read more

I took a pair of Sperry Topsiders in because the leather laces had broken. He kept telling me that he had to order the right color of leather for the laces. I had to go back four times to get my shoes. One time he left them at home, another time the laces hadn't come in, etc. Finally he said if I approved the laces he had he would do them. He charged $30 and the first time I put them on the laces broke. He did not clean or polish the shoes. I will not go back. read more

Just switched cobblers from Annapolis to here to try a closer location and am extremely pleased of the quality work done by Shaun. Very honest guy and even better work. Brought in two pairs of shoes and he had them finished in a week re-soled and good as new. Highly recommend this shop for any shoe repairs!! Worth the trip if you are not local. read more

If I could give this business a negative rating I would. I'm all about reviews before I purchase things or services. Someone I know highly recommended this place, so I took my boots there to have them altered. My legs were measured and I paid a $30 deposit, have of what the services were. He said that he would call when they were ready, so I waited. Since I didn't receive a call, I went to the store and they were no open. Everytime I called, no answer and not open. Now all of this happened nearly two years ago, before Covid 19. When they were finally open, I was told the machine was broken that repairs shoes. Once again he said he would call when they were ready. I waited longer this time for a call a couple of months nothing. Also, once again the store was never open when I went up there. I mentioned this to the person who recommended this place and he said he would speak to him when he see the cobbler. It's been a long while and I'm almost sure he sold my boots and I'm out of $30 dollars. I will never deal with him again and if you want your shoes you shouldn't either. read more

I have attempted contact the shoe repair store a minimum of 20 times since placing my purse in for cleaning, it has been close to a month and I have unable to get in contact with the store. The voicemail is full and has been and there has been a sign on the door stating closed due until further notice. Very unprofessional, empty the voicemail and return your customers calls. read more

I was a first-time customer. I went to the store for the convenience and to try it out. I paid the negotiated price in advance. I was told to come back in a week. I returned the day before the pick up date just to check in case shoes were finished early. Told by the owner he was not ready for me yet. I returned two days later and the shoes were not started. I was told they were placed in the wrong bag for repairs. I returned 3 days later and not all the work agreed upon was done. I will not be returning to the store. Owner seems friendly enough but not dedicated to quality or professionalism. read more
