However, when I returned two weeks later, nothing had been done. She promised that if I came back the next day, my items would be ready, but that turned out to be untrue. Once again, she provided excuses for the delay and advised me to call before my next visit. When I called, the owner's son answered the phone and abruptly hung up while yelling for the staff member to take the call. When she finally answered, my items were still not ready. The following day, I went in again to retrieve my belongings, only to find they were still not available. I requested a refund of my deposit, and I had to assist her in locating my items, which were scattered throughout their disorganized shop. The owner was present during this encounter, and when I explained the situation to him, he was not particularly helpful.

When I entered this store on March 26, 2026, for services rendered, I was told that I would have to pay in full ($40.00) repair fee before I could have my shoes resoled and it would take a week to repair. I paid the requested shoe repair payment with my American Express card. When I returned to pick up my shoes on April 4, 2026, I forgot that I had prepaid the $40.00 requested repair fee to the owner and paid another $40.00 in cash at the time to picked up my shoes. I wasn't given a payment receipt at the time for the second payment. When I returned home, I remembered that I had already paid for the shoe repair services via American Express as requested a week before the shoes where resoled. I immediately returned to the store. Before I could enter the store, he saw me before I could open the door and locked it. It was near closing time. It was the weekend, so I returned on Tuesday April 2, 2026, with my shoes in my hands and told second him of my repair payment for services rendered. He wouldn't repay me the $40.00 and asked me for receipt that he didn't give me. Lesson learned: Always pay with a credit card and get a receipt. This store is not worthy of your business. Pass the word.

I took the shoes down the street to Old Towne Shoe and Luggage Repair--$30 for same service--still grossly overpriced but at least I'll have $5 more dollars in my pocket after the damage is done.

I returned after nine days, but they needed more time. There had been no communication that he was struggling to clean some of the shoes or that additional time was needed. When I returned 14 days after the original drop-off, he told me he needed five more minutes. I ended up waiting another 30 minutes before receiving my shoes, and they were still only partially cleaned. The sides of the soles had been cleaned halfway, and the bottoms had not been cleaned at all. When I pointed out the remaining dirt, the cobbler became very argumentative and took no responsibility for the poor communication, repeated delays, or incomplete work. He used a paper towel to remove some of the dirt while simultaneously insisting that it could not be removed--which made no sense because I could see it coming off as he wiped. Having to haggle with a professional about whether a visibly dirty shoe is actually dirty is unreasonable. He offered a small discount, but considering the two-week delay, lack of communication, extended wait at pickup, and condition of the shoes, the discount should have been much more substantial. I understand that some stains may be difficult to remove, but customers should be informed when there is a problem or when more time is needed. Based on this experience, I would proceed with caution.

As somewhat of a snob when it comes to good cobblers, I can say that Louis the owner, really knows what he is doing. I have brought many pairs of dress shoes, Mostly my Allen Edmond's into his store and have never been disappointed with the result. They take the extra time to make sure that the job is done correct, and it really shows in their end product. One of the big marks of the good cobbler are the finishing touches they put on a pair of shoes when they are re-sewn; they take the time not just to sew the bottom stitches on but also make sure they cut a groove before stitching. This adds about six months of life when having a pair of shoes resoled. Aside from dress shoes, I have also taken my Sperry Topsider's in to have the insoles replaced, and Luis seems to be able to add new life to a pair shoes that I would've thrown away. The products that they stock or a top-quality, and I often buy most of my polish, conditioners and shoe trees from their shop. I am a big proponent of supporting local businesses, especially people who have a skill, and take the time to do the job right. Give this little gem of a shop a try, you will not be disappointed!
