I went to FJ to size up a gold ring that no longer fit comfortably. From the moment we walked in they were personable, kind, and informative. The price for sizing was incredibly reasonable considering how much money everything costs now. They helped smooth out a gold chain that had a kink in it for free! They told me the ring would be ready in a week and it was ready in 4 days and the polish they did brought it back to life. I am so thrilled to be able to wear it and as a queer person, I felt so welcomed. Val was our specialist but other employees chatted with us and were so nice. I wasn't going to write a review but I feel I really should , to warn people of this Jewelry store! I would NEVER shop and NEVER EVER have any jewelry repaired at Fords Jewelers!! I brought my tennis bracelet to get fixed in the summer, they told me that it was stretched and that I should make it smaller and have a ring made from the diamonds they removed... showed me pictures, I picked the ring.... But when I went to pick up the bracelet and ring, the diamonds in the ring were much smaller than what was in my bracelet!! I brought it to their attention and they were saying it that it was my diamonds and it just looks smaller, I told them they were wrong, I brought it to the original place I purchased the bracelet from and I was correct, they were not my diamonds!! Two sales people and Barry ( the owner) were trying to tell me I was wrong..... but after I had it looked at by original place I bought it, Barry calls me on a Sunday (SUNDAY!!!). Telling me I was right, he had my strip of diamonds and they ordered me a ring!! I was very upset! He then had me go to " put MY stones in the ring". Which I just found out are still not mine!!! In the mean time the bracelet he supposedly shortened broke in half and the diamonds he put in the ring are loose because they are too small for the setting!!!! After suffering a stroke late September 2018 I found the chain of my Miraculous Medal completely knotted. I was walking home from PT and thought I should keep going to have it fixed so that's exactly what I did. Never having been here before I didn't know what to expect. As soon as I entered I was approached by a lovely women who listened through my tears as I explained that the hospital was in a rush to remove my medal to get me into the MRI. The chain had two huge knots and they were tight. She kindly helped me to remove it from my neck and she had it unknotted in maybe a minute or less. She was just KIND. I purchased a unique silver heart shaped coin wrapped in silver, the top had a pin to keep it together. Unfortunately, it got in the wash and the pin closure was lost. I brought it to Fords Jewelers for repair. After about a month I called to see where my repair was and they said they left a voice mail 2 weeks ago to come pu. I never got a voice mail. 3 days later the silver wrap the heart shaped coin was in opened up and could have lost it easily. The repair was useless read more

I came to this store to have my watch battery replaced after they took it in they came out to tell me the battery do not work I was ask to leave it to what was wrong with it and to call in one week to tell me how much it was going to cost the repair, I did and I was told $129,00 for repair and wait 3 weeks to order th part and another week to have it ready, two days later I returned to the store to pick my watch up as it was, I went somewhere else and the battery was replaced with no problem and the inner seal was broke, they order the new part, in one week I have my watch with me and cost me $ 24.00, about that, I saved $ 100.00 read more

Let me start by referring to another review, while I was not there 27 years ago, I have been there recently and as an interracial couple we had no problems at Fords Jeweler. The first time we went to just browse rings as we were working on getting engaged and had no idea what style was equivalent to what cost etc. I gave the saleswoman a list of brands I liked from Instagram and she showed me about 20 rings and I really loved one. They were about to close and she offered to stay but we said we would come back with the payment amount and to pick the center stone. They showed us tons of beautiful center stones in different styles and price points and ultimately we settled on a gorgeous stone that was slightly larger than what I had originally thought we would get but also cheaper! There was a different price point for cash which was how we were paying and we appreciated the discount. Super-friendly and some how even manage to fix things that the manufacturer says can't be fixed. Once, they didn't even charge me (I hope I don't get anyone in trouble for saying that). I live in Denver Colorado. I had the opportunity to work with Barry Berman because while on vacation, my Wife lost the diamond from her wedding set. I sent the ring to Fords after checking the reviews on yelp and seeing almost all 5 star ratings. Barry took care of replacing the stone (got a larger diamond so I also got a larger mount). The whole replacement took only a couple of days from the time delivered to the time it was on it's way back. Barry called me with updates to keep me informed. For decades, Fords Jewelers has been my family's and large extended family's go to place for watches, jewelry and repairs. My siblings and I have known Barry and his staff since we were kids - as they were customers of our restaurant for decades. My brother, cousins, aunts and uncles all live in NYC and NJ, and they all trust Fords Jewelers. From repairing my Dad's beloved family Rolex years ago while he was still alive, to Breitling watches, quality diamond engagement rings, and more, they've been reliable, trustworthy and very helpful in making the best choice for the entire clan. Even though I'm out of state, I called Barry for some assistance on a diamond engagement ring repair that's been frustratingly taking several months with another jeweler in San Francisco who originally custom made the ring. A side diamond had fallen out of the setting despite only being worn at most 6 times and the jeweler kept giving a whole host of reasons/excuses on the delays. Despite all the calls coming in, Barry patiently listened and provided advice. Being extremely knowledgeable on diamonds as a Diamond Master and on the repair process, he informed me that the repair should have only taken a week or two at most, including obtaining the right diamond, cutting and fit. He then assured me he would help with the repair himself and have it back to wearing in no time. As he and his staff have been reliable with all my family's purchases and repairs, that level of expertise and trust is invaluable in a jeweler and my only regret was not simply sending him the ring in the first place. read more

I went to Fords Jewelers to have my mother's watch (wind up) repaired. It is an antique and needed to have mechanical work done. They gave me an estimate, got my approval, and it came back and is working very well. It is not easy to find a reputable watch repair, besides having some beautiful and fairly priced jewelry. The staff are very accommodating and it is hard to leave a place that has so many beautiful items for sale. It's no wonder they have been in business so long. I decided to channel my inner James Bond, and had to first acquire the proper resources. The Aston Martin is still a work in progress, but I did get to acquire an Omega watch from this fine establishment. The selection was great, the prices were competitive but mostly importantly they were friendly and knowledgeable about thier products. I asked a lot of questions and tried on multiple models but they always made me feel like I was their top priority and not an annoyance. I have come here before to make minor purchases such as Alex and Ani bracelets and other watches and the service has been consistent. They nice part is they had the same level of attention whether I was looking at a $30 or $3000 purchase, which is just not something you get at other Jewelry stores. I also used to do some local charity work in the area years ago and I remember they would always donate a nice watch for their raffle/giveaways for at least every year that I remember being there. Between it's community involvement and exceptional service, it makes sense to support your community Jeweler here as opposed to the big chains. I have only used their repair service for watch battery changes, but that has always been quick and precise. My only gripe is that they didn't have any actual James Bond style watches that I could use as a bomb, pull a wire garotte from, use as a homing device, or deflect bullets with. Let me just say first off that my family have shopped at Barry Bermanns store for decades. Both my brother and I have purchased our engagement rings there so yes, we have given an enormous amount of money to this place. Today my fiancée and I went here to look at wedding bands. We got there about forty five minutes prior to closing, not if that should matter as a customer. It was really a matter of minutes that we found my fiancées matching band, they had two different ones, one around 25 points of diamonds and the other 36. I was opting for the one for the 36, well because she deserves the best. When I was looking at my ring, the female salesperson acted like it wasn't worth her time. Being kind of knowledgable about types of metals I still wanted some insight on what metal was stronger and more scratch resistant. When I asked about ABC metal, her response was " it's just a different metal". At one point she even noted that they were about to close even though we had a half hour to closing. This really put a bad taste in my mouth about making my purchase here. Not only did Barry lose two rings, he also lost 5 gifts that I planned on buying there for my groomsmen. Not sure it she was having a bad day or because it was near closing time, but that's not how you treat a customer. I'm bringing my cash elsewhere. read more

Fords use to be our go-to jeweler, but we'd gone less and less after we moved away. After today, I will not return. I took in three items for repair, and all three had issues, and one broke in my hands. First, it took 4 people, phone calls and much walking around to locate two of the items, which started my discomfort. 1) I had the head of my engagement ring replaced, and it was returned with dents in the ring where it was apparently clamped while the work was performed. The dents were very noticeable, and I was surprised it wasn't buffed out before it was returned. They corrected the error, but if you are a high quality jeweler, this should have been done automatically. 2) I had a pendant ring on a necklace replaced. It was soldered on with extra solder for strength (according to the manager), but the solder line was obvious on the front, and the surface looked wavy. This was a new part, not a repair but it looked "repaired." The solder should have been reflowed, but it wasn't. They offered to redo. 3) I had one earring where the flip back was broken, and asked for repair. They repaired it, but the wire they used as the hinge was not trimmed, and stuck out beyond the hinge about 2mm on one side. It was pointed, looked sloppy, and would be visible while worn. (Exactly like a poorly trimmed through-hole component on a circuit board) I asked it be trimmed. They said it should have been, and they cut it off. When they returned it to me, I opened the hinge to put the earring on, and it broke in my hands. Who is the repair team that doesn't bother to look at the items after repair to QC the work? Do you want your jewelry repaired by someone to doesn't take that final look to see that everything "looks good"? I'm not complaining about a couple little scratches that I might have put there myself and tried to pass off. This is symptomatic of the wrong person doing the job. All three jobs were poorly done. At that point, I was done. I asked for everything back to go elsewhere, and told them I would not return. After the issue on arrival that my items could not be located and the lack of attention to detail on all three repairs, I even started to wonder if I should be concerned if I'd actually gotten my own diamond back. Now I am concerned if the diamond setting was also repaired in a faulty manner that is not obvious to me now, although the solder is clearly thicker on one side than the other, so I will have to take it elsewhere to have it checked, too. 1 star for today's visit, but 2 stars overall because they used to be good and I still have first necklace my husband ever bought me from Fords. And because they didn't charge for the $21 pendant repair, in full disclosure. read more

My husband and I went to Fords Jewelers years ago to purchase a diamond anniversary ring. My husband, who is black, was constantly followed by the security guard, particularly when he was looking at watches. When it was time to pay for the ring, the salesperson assumed that we wanted to use their installment plan. She was so shocked when my husband gave her cash that he had to ask her for the change that he was due. My husband and I were made to feel like we had no right to even set foot in the store because we are an interracial couple, much less buy anything. My wife and I purchased her engagement ring and both of our wedding bands here. We shopped around for awhile for the engagement ring and undoubtedly the quality of the diamonds and price that Barry offered us could not be beat. After such a wonderful experience with the engagement ring, we went back for our wedding bands earlier this year and worked with another sales rep who was equally as patient and honest with us. We got our bands in January, but our wedding wasn't until July, so the sale rep suggested that I try on my ring in the spring to see if it still fits properly in the warmer weather. It was a great suggestion, because she was right- my finger swelled a bit and they were able to resize the ring for me free of charge based on the metal we purchased. They were so sweet- they even gave us a cake topper as a wedding gift! We will absolutely go back to Fords for any future gifts or jewelry needs! read more

Fords Jewlers sold me a sapphire ring and charged me thousands. Later, I found out from another jeweler that only the top layer of the sapphire was authentic, and the bottome part of the stone was not real sapphire. What a rip off. read more
