I would not recommend this jeweler. When we walked in, the lady upfront was extremely brusque to the point of rudeness with us. We got a quote on a bracelet that was literally five times what my local jeweller quoted. They replaced the battery for $16 in a watch, and the watch is still not working. I was a first time customer and will be a last time customer. I would recommend they be more pleasant and welcoming to new faces in the store and keep their rates more reasonable. read more

I came to Marlow's after my mom gave me one of her old rings. It had seen much wear and love over the past 63 years, and I wanted to bring it new life while keeping its history. I had a project vision and Marlow's helped me bring it to life. I had the previous stone removed as it wasn't salvageable and replaced it with a Ruby Star Sapphire (mine and my mom's favorite), which they helped me by sourcing. They brought in a few choices and allowed me to pick which stone I felt best fit the project. The basket required reshaping and extra work, but they did it so that the Star Sapphire fits beautifully. I love that I can carry around a piece of my mom. The ring shines and the sapphire has three star lines with indoor lighting and one distinct bright star in the sun. I was wanting to give a local business my business but I'm sorry that I did not find this to be a friendly or responsive store. I brought in a ring that needed a simple adjustable sizer installed. My previous jeweler was always able to do it while I waited. They, however, needed to keep it. When I hadn't heard back in over a week I went to check on it but it still wasn't ready. When I expressed my displeasure the counter person did apologize but I had to come back the next day to pick it up. For the $15 that I was charged, I felt their apology could have been to have not charged for it or at least given a small goodwill discount especially since I had to make another 1/2 hour trip back to pick it up. Here is my experience with Marlow's Fine Jewelry. My engagement ring was to small for me so i made a visit at Marlow's Fine Jewelry to enlarge it. They said that the diamond on my ring is not secured enough and suggested fixing it. The estimate took them a few days. After that time they called me and said that fixing is going to cost 390$. I decide to take back the ring and bring it with me to Poland for my upcoming trip. I was expecting lower cost for labor there. In Poland the Jeweler fixed it within about a MINUTE. He gave me my ring back and said that he is not going to charge me ANYTHING because the damage was very minor! It is pretty clear that 390$ for repair that was estimated by Marlow's Fine Jewelry was way to much! I am very disappointed! Obviously I am not going to use their service anymore. read more

Excellent customer service. I yelped them prior to coming, making sure they could fix/adjust my husbands necklace. The only reason I choose them was because they quoted me a shorter turn around time then 3 other places Yelp sends quotes too. (I'm a procrastinator to say the least) So off to Issaquah from Seattle I went. When I showed up, the lady in the front was so sweet and helpful. She was admiring my husbands 'delicate - handcrafted" necklace from India (I didnt even know how cool it was) and assured me it would be taken care of. She quoted me 48 hours and off I went. I've heard positive buzz about this jewelry store and I pass it daily en route to my office, so one afternoon, heading home after the gym, I decided to stop in. It was 6:40-ish pm and the red neon sign outside read "OPEN". I have a gorgeous turquoise and ruby ring that needs repairing and I thought I'd get a quote from the jeweler here. Well, despite the neon "open" sign, the etched hours of operation on the door read that the store closed at 6pm on weekdays. I peered inside the glass doors to see a man and woman inside, tidying and closing up shop for the day. They obviously saw me, as the man came to the door and told me to please come in, they'd be happy to help me! I replied that I didn't want to keep them, they were obviously closed for the day, I can easily return tomorrow. They'd have none of that! They introduced themselves as Will and Debbie, a married couple who own the store and live locally and have been in the jewelry business, like, forever. Honestly, I don't think I've ever met a nicer couple. They were so genuine and friendly, showing a real interest in me and my ring and how they could help. Even though I was there after hours. They truly wanted to help. As Will assessed my ring, I walked about the small store to admire the jewelry. Much was not my personal taste, as there were very dainty and feminine and traditional pieces. I'm more of a contemporary, larger-scale kind of gal. Many pieces were from estates. I could tell the stones and precious metals were all of the highest quality, though, and there was a good selection of watches. I loved a lot of the pearl necklaces, though, and most of all, I was really impressed with the silver chains. Some had the coolest links, some were clunky, others more delicate, and some incorporated large geometric shapes. I really loved the chains! Will gave me a quote for my ring repair (it's missing a ruby) and I noted that I'd have to budget for this job, but I totally plan on getting this done. And it HAS to be done here, with Will and Debbie, who I SO connected with and who are SO incredibly kind and nice. I never thought I'd be the type of person who has a jeweler, but Will completely changed my mind! Here's why we won't take any of our jewelry elsewhere ever again. Cleaning and knowledge: Once my fiance and I started talking about getting married, both of our parents loaded us with heirlooms that have been untouched for years. We brought everything to Marlow's to get assessed, cleaned, and checked out. He made everything from belt buckles, rings, and necklaces shine like new! It was very impressive. The knowledge he had on everything was unmatched. With over 40 years of experience, he took the time to explain everything calmly and offer repairs or resizes if needed. Every single time I go in to do something he shines my engagement ring up, it makes me so incredibly happy how great of a job he does. Resizing: I had one family ring I've had my eye on since I was a kid resized and deep cleaned here for such a reasonable price. He cleaned it so well I couldn't believe it was the same ring. The center stone was opal, which I knew nothing about. He gave me a crash course on opal and gave options for changing out the stone down the road. Retipping/resetting: The ring my fiance proposed with was a family heirloom diamond from the 1930's set in a platinum band. Since the stone was so important I had nightmares of losing it. He had it made at a family jeweler in Texas. I loved the ring, but noticed one of the prongs seemed uneven. I brought it in and Will examined it and saw and showed me that the place in Texas hadn't really finished the job right, and some of the prongs weren't nearly as sturdy as they should be. After he fixed it the prongs are even, nearly flush with the diamond for a low profile, don't snag on things, and I stopped having nightmares about losing the diamond! Creativity and vision: We want our wedding bands to be created with diamonds from my parent's wedding set. Although we don't have the rings in front of us yet, we enjoy the vision Will is helping us create without even seeing them! We look forward to working the Will and Marlow's for anything else we need. No pressure experience: We've been in a lot of chain jewelry stores and there's always high pressure salespeople pressuring you to buy things, upgrade, upsize, or just make a purchase you're not ready for. I love the fact that Will is so mellow, gives you the freedom to browse without breathing down your neck, and supports whatever you want. They have a good collection of variety of jewelry (both estate and new.) Will repaired my ring I brought in and sized a new purchase ring in a timely manner (even that they had their customer appreciation sale and were very busy.) He had called me after each job was completed to let me know item was ready to be picked up. When I came to pick up items he made sure to greet me personally and asked me how I was (like I was his dear friend, not like when sales people ask and don't listen to your response.) Best customer service I have ever experienced! My pregnant wife had a swollen finger and both her engagement ring and wedding band were stuck. We came in to get both rings cut and they treated us like family. My wife was having anxiety attacks before coming, but they kept her comfortable and smiling throughout our visit. Fortunately, they were able to get the engagement ring out without cutting. The wedding band had to be cut, but it can be fixed. I felt they were very professional and seem well experienced.
