A solid movie theater! The decor is obviously outdated, but it is clean and serves its purpose. We went there on a Tuesday and were able to get discount tickets for Barbie. It's a bonus that the seats recline, and the sound system was great! The bathrooms, while outdated, served their purpose, too - but I have to tell you, they were not the most maintained when we were there. But again, it's a movie theater and you're there to see films. All of the workers were polite, the popcorn was decent, and I love that they offer flashback films on certain days. We'll definitely be returning when we are in the Tom's River area! read more

This theater has seen better days. The seats designed to recline did not work in the theater I was in. It became a game of chance to find a seat where the reclining mechanism work. When this was brought to staff attention, they had no knowledge of the issue and only said swap seats. The hallways are filled with boxes of supplies and equipment. They are understaffed and the few employees they have all run the concessions, sell tickets and also do the clean up of messes. While the movie was decent on the screen, the facility needs a clean up and more help. read more

Terrible experience. I come here all the time and never have I had a problem like this. Today me and my friends went to see a movie that was rated R. Never before has our age mattered we've always gotten in. Today this really bored worker gave my friends a problem about their age after they already bought the tickets, so they decided to come watch it anyways. She came back in the theatre a few times because she had nothing better to do with her life and after half way through the movie kicked them out. The fat managers wouldn't give us a refund. In the movie theater world it's not hard to score a five star review. Just sell popcorn made sometime after 2005, offer spooge-free seating that reclines and show the features in something approximating digital quality. Oh... and mop the science experiment flooring more frequently than every other Tuesday. I'm happy to report that the Marquee Cinema in Toms River checks all the boxes. The theaters look (and smell) clean, the popcorn tastes fresh, drowning in whatever solvent they're passing off as butter these days and the picture quality makes my cataracts extremely happy. Now, if I can only get the old lady behind me to stop asking her caregiver what year it is and why Clark Gable doesn't make movies anymore. Frankly dear reader, I don't give a damn. First time to the movies in years! Lotsa years. The electric reclining lazy boys were great. Our theater #10 was very clean. The other patrons were respectful and civilized. With the demographics of the area I'd expect that. Wasn't disappointed. I didn't buy popcorn or anything as the prices were criminal. The lobby could have been cleaner, lots of popcorn scraps on the floor, but it was late at night and the kids cleaning looked tired out. Compared to AMC this theater was definitely a solid theater. Inside was outdated but has the old school nostalgia feel to it. The seats were nice and comfortable and also reclined, had food options in which I got the medium popcorn that tasted great. Good prices for food and movies. Renovated, use to smell like old socks. Great reclining chairs. Other than that, the place is mismanaged. How hard is it to have nachos stocked, since they're on the menu and all. Hot pretzels are microwaved and soggy. Popcorn is so salty your feet will swell. Half the time no one is even checking tickets so I'm the sucker who pays while other people are just walking in. This movie theater is the location I frequent most in our area, and with a recent increase with my movie attendance (shout out to the MoviePass) I have been here more in the last six months than the last six years. Ticket prices are fair, and the concessions / popcorn is reasonable priced, and staff is always helpful kind and upbeat. On the weekend late nights I have seen police force around this location just generally patrolling due to the high percentage of large groups. I love the updated reclining seats of this location as compared to the other theater in Toms River across town (since the time if this review). As far as the bathroom cleanliness and overall theater appearance its hit or miss. I have seen it as its worst and also at its best. Since this theater is in a busy shopping center a Con is always the Parking, while a Pro is that a CVS for cheap candy options is located across the parking lot and is walkable. read more

Comfort - The theatre has the new leather recliners now, but you have reserve seating, which is good & bad. Good, for when you want to make sure you have seats next to each other, but, bad, when you get to an almost empty theatre, and there's someone right next to you. Hopefully, after the movie starts, you might be able to find alternate seating, and hopefully the people in those assigned seats aren't just running late. Cleanliness - For the most part, the theatre is clean, save for a slight grunge to the men's bathroom, and a broken fixture or two. The cleaning job was mediocre. And, it's not the first time I've been there on a slow night & it was like that. So, I have to assume the bare minimum of cleaning jobs is acceptable, and never is strived for to be better. I'm not looking for Biltmore quality clean, but I shouldn't have to feel like I need to wash my hands...after just washing my hands. Snacks & drinks - Smuggle your own in, unless you want to pay an arm & a leg. Seriously, $4 for a box of candy, and it gets worse from there. And, I know this is all theaters nowadays, but that doesn't justify the prices. Hit the dollar store, or your local anywhere else before you go, and stock up on movie supplies. They'll probably be fresher anyway. Customer Service - Standard mediocre. No one stands out, or probably cares to. I mean, it's only a job at the movies, right? And, don't mention the prices. You'll get a less blank stare from a wall. Also, being that you can buy your tickets online, they have an auto check-in machine in the lobby where you can scan your tickets, but the back of the machine was facing the door, nor was it pointed out to us by the employee checking us in. As I said, standard mediocre. Parking - Plan to arrive somewhat early, as the parking lot is shared with the rest of the shopping center, and some of those restaurants have timed, or reserved parking in the areas in front of their establishments. If you're cutting it close to start time, prepare to miss the first couple of minutes, as the parking lot is usually crowded. Over all - It's not a horrible experience, and I'll go again, as I've been there before. The potential for it to be better is there, however, I don't see it being realized anytime soon. read more

I really don't know why I didn't review this place sooner. This is, simply put, my go-to theater. I've dragged friends here from all over, simply because most AMC theaters I've been to end up feeling run down and dirty. This small chain, thankfully, is the polar opposite. First off, stadium seating. Booyah. I really don't know why other theaters in the area haven't converted to this yet, but this is a huge bonus. No longer do you have to worry about the tall guy with the 10 Gallon cowboy hat blocking your view. Second, they use really nice DLP digital projectors here, which makes every movie look like a giant LCD TV - crisp and clear. Third, and perhaps most importantly, they keep this place pretty damn clean. No sticky floors, no trash in the isles, and no chewing gum stuck to the seats. Seats are pretty tall-backed and downright comfortable, too. The prices are on-par with AMC and other nearby theaters, if not slightly cheaper. Concessions are about average as well. All in all, a great theater that I have no qualms about visiting time and time again. read more

The other nearby theaters the ones in sea court pavilion and the one in brick are just so old and haven't been updated that I don't feel right sitting in the seats and it just smells like aforementioned scent. I was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and attended a matinee at this cinema in the summer of 2011. The most disturbing part that sticks with me after so much travel is a circumstance that occurred, met with gross negligence. I attended along with a gf at the time and we watched The Hangover II. Amongst the audience were a cluster of underage kids in this rated R movie. Upon alerting the staff I was met with the rebuttal that "we don't sell tickets to minors here" but asked them to it check out for themselves. Returning to my seat in the upper row with a dozen of these unaccompanied minors in front of me, the usher came to the entry, looked up at the audience, paused for three minutes, and returned to her desk. Nothing was done about the situation. These kids were not 17 or 16, they were 12-13 year olds. The content of the film made me very uncomfortable with these children sitting close. They were obnoxious as well, but more or less I was concerned about the content they were viewing. read more

Marquee Cinemas 10 is, as a previous reviewer noted, the best movie theater in town. That means that it is nicer then the AMC Loews Seacourt 10, which it is, but so is just about everyplace else. For example, my unfinished basement, spiderwebs and all, is nicer. Try it yourself - pick anything. Ask yourself, "Is the space under my refrigerator that I haven't cleaned in seven years nicer than the Seacourt?" See? It works. But Marquee Cinemas is considerably nicer than that. It is very clean and spacious, has ample parking, and stadium seating. There is a concession stand, and they show films. The sound systems are quite good, and they use RealD 3D projectors, the latter of which give me a headache. In short, it's a modern movie theater. In order for one to get five stars from me, it would have to have a full bar and wait service. But I unreservedly give it four. read more

There is nothing like going to visit the fairly new local movie theater which is kinda-sorta close to home, and finding out that it's actually a nice experience! I have always hated movie theaters. The crowdedness, the eleven dollar popcorn, and the line that seems to follow you home! Marquee 10 is a little different. It's large, and open interior is welcoming with a cool modern decor! It's lines are never long, and the prices of things are comparable to other theaters, minus a few cents... so... kudos there Marquee! They use hi-def projectors, which are awesome. Sound is great, and seating is comfortable. In all, a decent experience. Not too much to say! Prices of tickets are not out of this world, but snacks are a little pricey! I simply do not understand this place. As in, cannot wrap my head around how poorly run this place is. I live in Jackson, so my options are limited as to where I can see a movie. It's either Freehold Loews, which is currently under major renovations, or the Maquee here. For a good, long while, I was here just about every single Monday morning with my cousin, seeing a movie, and never had a bad experience. It's a Monday morning, so it's slow, and everything seemed fine. I've also been here on Sunday mornings over summer or Christmas breaks when it has been great as well. Good service, good flow, etc. However, the last few times I have been here, I just cannot get over how unorganized this place is. First, I have absolutely NO idea why they never use the outdoor ticketing area. I feel that if they had that open as well as indoor, tickets woud sell a lot faster and there would be less of a wait for customers to get in to see the movie. But, I have yet to see it open while being here. EVER. Secondly, the queue for food is always ridiculous and confusing. Instead of having people either shout orders to one person handling the food, it's 1. order 2. staff gets your popcorn, etc 3. you pay. When you do it like this when there are a million people waiting, it just makes for a TERRIBLY long wait. I just don't know if the staff doesn't know how to work together to get through the customers or what, but it's driven me mad the last few visits. Now, as far as the overall movie experience, it's been fine. I have yet to have a problem inside the actual theater or the quality of the movies themselves. All I can say is that a 2-star is all this place can pull off right now, because I have most definitely experienced better. Get your act together! read more

Best movie theater in town. It has "stadium seating" so you don't have to worry about that dude's big head in the row in front of you getting in the way.The projectors are all digital so you don't have all those spots and lines like are your conventional theater.I don't buy snacks when I go to the movies so I'm not sure how the prices compare but I'm sure its about the same as others. Worst theatre experience of my life. Trash everywhere. Garbage littered all over every square foot of the floor. Paper plates, napkins, half eaten pizza, popcorn, empty cups, spilled drinks, greasy theatre floors. Loud teenage kids talking the entire movie. No ushers walking around. No staff anywhere. Tickets and concessions are slightly more expensive than the AMC in town. Now, granted the AMC in town has not yet been renovated and perhaps when they get around to updating the format there, cost will level off. Been to this theater several times and whether you find a clean cinema, pleasant staff, and all that stuff is hit or miss. Some days we have a good experience. Other days, not so much. If you're just going to sit in the dark and watch a film with a bucket of popcorn...you could do worse...and you could do better. read more

I love the fact that this theatre plays old movies on Wednesdays and Sundays and they have the most comfortable reclining seats. What I do not love is the over salted popcorn and they are severely understaffed. The theaters themselves are pretty good. I like the reclining seats a lot, However the bathrooms???? Smell so bad (at least the women's bathroom does). I've Never smelt something so terrible in my life and once in like 3rd grade I went to an actual landfill for a school field trip. I also know it's not just a one time thing considering I came here about two weeks ago and it smelt just as bad then as it does now. I know this shouldn't weigh that much importance to me, but I have a small bladder and I drank a large soda so I had to pee twice while being there and the smell is still haunting me. We came in for a 2:20 movie. I headed to the machine to purchase tickets with my movie pass. The guy behind the counter hassled me to buy the tickets at the counter. As soon as I pulled out my movie pass the "internet credit card processing machine was down." They also told my brother they couldn't accept him a fandango gift card he used at this same location a week prior because "they weren't a fandango theater" and were only accepting cash. When I asked why he wouldn't have told me it was cash only at the point I was going to purchase the ticket on the automated machine he didn't really know what to say. This was super shady. Wouldn't let us pay for movie after since we didn't have cash. Poor customer service, took manager 15 minutes to come down without coming up with a solution that would work for all.
