I've been coming to Marquee Theatre for years and haven't been disappointed yet! I have seen so many great bands here that I've lost count but here are a few that I really enjoyed: Thrice, Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, La Dispute and Taking Back Sunday. No matter where you are inside the view of the stage is great, sound and lighting are always on point and you're never far away from the bar. They added balcony seating a few years ago. Marquee Theatre offers limited parking on site but there is a parking garage across the street. The price for parking is typically $10 (wouldn't be surprised if it's gone up). It's also located along the light rail route if you'd rather avoid driving. All in all, Marquee Theatre is a great venue to see your favorite artists perform. read more

Came here tonight to see Social Distortion. It was my first time there. The small parking lot leads to the entrance. You can only carry in a clear purse so be aware otherwise you're walking back to your car. The concert was standing only so wear comfortable shoes. 1800 people is sold out and it's packed. The beer soaked floors & dark stale air gives the perfect combo of a dive bar and concert venue. I love the vibe & look forward to seeing more bands there! read more

Was asked by a security girl if I was pregnant while in line for an event. I told her no, I was not pregnant, and asked her what on earth possessed her to ask such a grossly invasive question that is in no way relevant to security screening for a concert. She was apologetic but my experience was stained for the rest of the night by this offensive and grossly incompetent security girl. I'm very choosy about what to Karen about in this world and I'm in the process of lodging a formal complaint against the venue for this incident. Honestly, don't go here. Aside from their grotesquely rude and incompetent staff, the venue is pretty trashy. The speakers are garbage quality and you have to download an app to pay for drinks, and hey! Maybe you'll also get asked if you're pregnant by security, when you are clearly not pregnant! I never ever want to come back here because of my horrible experience. read more

Went here last night and as we're waiting in line to get into the venue, a group of 5 security workers (not using guards on purpose as it was far from that), approach us demanded that we move our Lexus car or it will be towed! We were absolutely shocked and speechless because: (1) we don't have a car.... We have a truck and (2) we parked at the top of the garage parking across the street with plenty of spaces non reserved and (3) a couple walked all the way from this same garage to wait in line with us, and they were just as shocked. After we explained that we didn't have a Lexus nor parked near here...they walked off like nothing happened. Zero apologies, no change in attitude after they realized they had the wrong person. We get it that there's a lot of people attending this event but if you can't keep a level headed approach and stay calm, then you're in the job. Get new security that care to protect people, not bully and push fear on people inaccurately! read more

Dear dopest bands of the 2000s. PLEASE CHOOSE A DIFFERENT VENUE. The most important reason is the sound, this venue was an old theater (which is usually really cool) but they took out the seats and carpeting and never appropriately addressed the change in acoustics. The other reason ( not important to the band) the venue itself is dangerous. They give out drinks and when asked, can provide no lid. Tonight we could smell hard drugs being smoked and like this wasn't even a tweaker type show. If I wanted to be there any longer I would have asked for a refund. I don't want to feel my lungs being tight after a show because of drugs I didn't even use. Messed up. Like realistically they go harder for vapes with nicotine or weed and like this is why people bring hard drugs. It won't set off the metal detectors and then they mess up the show for everybody else. I use to love the Marquee, always a fun open GA venue and have been a patron to many shows, heavy metal, hard hip hop. This place has become inadequate, a security staff that are afraid so they take heavy measure quickly. It's like the high schoolers that got bullied standing up for themselves. If this venue is gonna stay legit; I suggest legit staff and security. Your concerts would be much better without the egoistical power trip y'all are bringing. read more

I personally love this venue. It is super intimate and it never feels too crowded. We have attended 2X for the KNIX secret show. My only complaint is the bar space is small. We always get 2 drinks when we get there since the lines seem never ending. We just have learned to plan our time accordingly around getting drinks and using the bathrooms before they become too crowded. Parking is very limited but there is a parking garage nearby that can be used. read more

I've been there twice. 1st time I got felt up by security, it was pouring rain and the smoke from the outside permeated the place. They allow smoking right up next to the doors. 2nd time was great. Decent acoustics, nicer security, no smoke stink. I was not impressed that you have to buy water or use a dirty looking decrepit fountain. Not cool. It's a desert climate, and not everyone wants to get drunk and dehydrated. At least provide cups of water to people buying alcohol. By the end of the night it was crazy with all the screaming stumbling drunks. The restrooms were basically a vomitorium. I felt sorry for the cleaning crew. They charge $10 to park, cash. Not bad. The parking lot was well lit from what I saw. This place is not for the weak, but I'm glad to know of this small venue. read more

The owner Tim reached out to me and offered me a hard copy of the Morrissey ticket. Unfortunately, with my busy schedule, I'm unable to stop by and pick it up. I did send him an email asking if it could be mailed to my mom's home in Arizona since I've been commuting from Philadelphia. I haven't received any response yet, but maybe my email got lost in the junk file, so I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. ~Hipsters Bartender dude wouldn't allow me to get an NON-ACOHOLIC beverage without a wristband for alcohol. I'm 36 and pregnant. I put my normal size bag in the car because it was too big according to the TSA style entrance frisking, metal detectors, flood lights etc. (so my husband had the money.) We were only there to see the 1st band because my husband knows him (co-worker). Then went home. Wasted half of that time over something so dumb. Love the marquee, great sound and great stage. Busy shows can get a little hectic so balcony seats are great for the big shows since they have a bar upstairs. My only complaint would be they do not have draft beer upstairs but not really a big deal. read more

I am not sure what is happening at The Marquee with their overcompensating and escalating security. I attended The Fortunate Youth show last week and personally witnessed 5 people removed by security within 20 minutes of the headliner...and we were 10 feet from the stage so only had about 10% view of the entire venue. One man protested being kicked out and was taken by force and ultimately taken to the ground and held down by 8 men including 2 Police officers. He was near me and did nothing wrong but expect a reasonable explanation for being removed by security. Marquee security escalated the situation that led to a man simply defending himself. He was arrested I'm sure. It was gross and obscene. I hope he sues the place. One guy was removed for "dancing suggestively" according to security. Oh yeah-my wife and I were removed because security said she was "stumbling around". She did have 3 drinks but was in no way drunk or causing a disturbance. She simply didn't walk a straight line out of the women's bathroom where security followed her to me and they told us we had to leave. We are 50+ year old professionals and avid reggae concert-goers having a little fun but never out of control. We have never been treated so badly especially when we were completely minding our own business. The other 2 guys were about 5 feet from us and randomly removed by security. I have no idea why but I can attest that they were not causing any disturbance. I am sure there were countless other removals that night that we did not witness. The Police had cruiser outside and were harassing people as they were booted out of the show. I guess The Marquee finds it offensive to have fun. Needless to say-all shows on my list at The Marquee have been scratched. I recommend that you do the same unless you plan not to dance, have a beer, cheer, or be happy. Worst ADA viewing area ever, had to fight to get up there to start, and then they refused to let me have my friends join, I tried to speak to the manager who said it was at capacity, I was the only one in the entire section the whole show. Nobody will answer my emails or calls, terrible customer service. It's 2021, segregation is unacceptable!! Not to mention they were jumping over me to lift stools above and over my head for able bodied VIP. This is the worst and most dangerous concert experience I've ever had. read more

I was nervous about the show I was going to hear because I've read all the reviews. Their website FAQ is pretty passive aggressive, but a great representation of what to expect. Honestly if you don't interact with the staff, it's not that bad. My experience was fine, but I did go prepared. Left early and brought cash for the parking, used the bathroom before coming here, brought a small clear bag, had my tickets and ID ready, didn't interact with staff, and saw a great show. read more

Went here from California to see Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness in July. Andrew and his wilderness band are amazing performers. The opening band, Michigander, was also amazing too. The venue itself has good sound, and good size stage. The staff weren't rude as some might say. The parking attendants were cool too, very laid back in the 100+ degree weather the Arizona desert has to offer in the summer. Overall, good venue to see a band. read more

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the Marquee has such low reviews. There are not nearly enough venues like this! This is a GREAT place to see any type of show because it's a smaller venue with great acoustics/sound. It's standing room/general admission only and there is a main floor and upper balcony, but there is honestly not a bad spot in the house, even when it's packed. Full bar outside the stage area where they're usually running drink specials. There's also a huge patio where smoking is allowed, and a little stand selling cigarettes and vape stuff, as well as a small food stand. I'm always stokes to come here for shows! read more

Parking is $10. They have a parking lot, but if it's full, they'll make you park in the parking garage across the street and then you'll have to walk around a three-minute walk to the venue. I did see some empty spots behind the cone, but the person said it was full. Maybe it's for the VIP or something. Upon entry, the process was fast. They'll ask to see ID if you want to drink alcohol and then they'll give you a wristband. Next move over to the next table where they will check your ticket. It's a quick scan off your phone. And then you're in. The inside the venue itself is pretty nice spacious and clean. Not too sure what all the negative reviews were about. Restroom is located on the right side. The restroom for the men was pretty clean and well-maintained. No issues here. Once you get into the main area they have the general admission which is pretty much on the floor. They do have the mezzanine or top second level floor, but you have to pay more for those ticket. Maybe it's because you get to sit down and have a small table. But if you're going to a concert, why would you sit up on the second floor? Stage is pretty big. the lights in sound system are on point. I saw Boyce Avenue here. Good show overall. There appears to be quite a lot of shows that are coming through this venue. Would recommend checking this place out if you do have an artist that is coming here. In conclusion, if you can split the cost of the parking, which is $10. Then it should be no issues here. All the negative reviews might be outdated or something. And the staff that were working when I went were nice. Sign note, Location is pretty secluded from everything else. read more

I would give this place 5 stars for viewing a band as there is not a bad spot in the house. I would give it 1 star for the acoustics as every band I see there just sounds loud and bad. We went to see the Offspring show. Tickets said gates open at 6pm and show starts at 7pm. When we arrived at 5:30 there was already a long line in the sun. 107 degree day. We waited in line. And waited. And waited. Finally some dude with a bowler hat came out and said the band showed up late so now they were not going to let people in til 7pm and the opener would start at 8pm, the Offspring at 9pm. They had a small container of water wjich quickly ran out. Security took forever. Opener sucked. The Offspring was good. Management of the event was terrible. read more

Had such a fun time here tonight! Came for a girls country dancing night. Drinks are overpriced but the space is cool.

This venue has great acts a lot but it's the worst for service. I have seen some of my favorite bands here including Galactic, G Love, and most recently, The Mars Volta. No matter when you arrive, at the search table, they will make you throw away something in your pocket. This latest time I was there, it was a pack of gum. While I was in line, the kids were looking through what they'd confiscated and fist bumped over the many marijuana dispensed by a unsuspecting patrons. I wish the acts I want to see would read these many negative reviews and look for better venues. read more

Came to see Common Kings, Sammy Johnson and other reggae bands here. Production people could be better in transitioning from sets. Clear bags only, no weapons. You will be searched. Drinks are expensive and cash only is preferred. They have an ATM with a 0.50c fee. COVID test required and on-site testing available. Bathrooms are really clean and the powder room lady was nice. She had essentials like perfume and toiletries for a small tip. High heels not recommended, ground is not leveled. Parking was easy to find for a reggae concert. read more

We came here to see The Black Jacket Symphony. We had a great experience with all the staff. The band was having some lightning and sound issues so there was a slight delay opening doors. Staff were great at letting everyone know what was going on. The inside was very clean well organized and setup nicely. Definitely would attend another event here. read more

I went to see the Crash Test Dummies last night at the Marquee and it was my 1st visit. I was impressed at how nice this place is and how clean it was. The only downside is you have to stand. The AC was working great and the sound system sounded great. Security did there jobs and access was easy in and out as it is right off the 202. I will come again. read more

I wish I could leave a zero star review because this place was horrible! First the parking situation was crazy. They made me drive around several times to try and find a place to park and I ended up getting trapped in because it was already busy. The security didn't even offer to help me find a place to park and then as I got up to the entrance I wanted a wrist band to drink and 5 people looked at my ID as if they thought it was fake?!!! The show and stage are great, what really upsets me is how strict their security check is, and the fact that they rob you of anything they don't allow inside the theater. I went to see Starset tonight, and I had my THC cartridge because why not? Weed and THC stuff is legal, if it's normal to get drunk at concerts, why not get high with THC products? They confiscated my $60 cartridge and refused to give it back when I was ready to leave the show. I don't understand why it is restricted, it's legal, and it's not like they sell THC products inside the theater. At the very least I do not understand why they refuse to return items to their owners. The confiscation bin has plenty of backpacks and bags that aren't transparent, I can't imagine what expensive valuables are taken from people permanently simply because the Marquee Theater refuses to return anything. Why do we continue to patronize a business that has kick ass bands come thru and everything about the "rest" of their business show how much their employees hate dealing with their patrons. I can literally name five different bands I love play here and hated the rest of the experience. Shitty beer choices, patio closed 40 minutes before band is scheduled to be done, and just overall the feeling they hate their jobs I want to support music here in Tempe but have a better experience in downtown Phoenix. I've been to countless shows at the Marquee over the years. I love the variety of entertainment you'll find here! Most recently I've seen Ellie Goulding, Animal Collective, and SBTRKT. As a kid I have a vivid memory of going to a Russian cat circus at the Marquee (yes, Russian cats doing tricks). Overall the venue is nice - tons of space for crowds and/or dancing, good sound system, large stage, ok bathrooms, and a bar. I'm not a smoker so I can't give you a report on the patio. Vodka and cranberry is $6, beer on tap is $7. read more

is there a way i can leave a zero star review?? my friends and i attended the oneus concert on feb. 2nd, 2023. i have been to concerts there before and this was by far THE MOST unorganized concert i've been to. the staff members were absolutely rude to many...aside from one female staff that was TRYING to get us organized, with no help from management or her fellow coworkers. the line arrangements were horrible. a child can organize better than the staff did. an incident happened when we're about to be let in to the venue and that caused a stampede of people to storm the door. people got injured and staff members did not do anything to help. this was a traumatic experience for many of us. read more

BEWARE! Quite possibly the worst show experience I've ever had. Paid a premium for balcony seats and the sound was AWFUL! But don't even get me started on how incredibly RUDE security was!! A nice gentleman offered me his seat/stool during set break and the 9 year old security check literally called 2 security officers up to kick me out. To her dismay, they let me stay after requesting to speak to her superior. This place is a JOKE!!! read more
