Stopped by here after a recommendation from the bartender at our hotel! Let's just say I was not disappointed. From the half door ordering, to the street eating this spot feels like an authentic pizza joint. Disclaimer: All pizza consumed here was always late night and after days spent at breweries and bar hopping. On a recent trip with the fellas, we stopped in here every night on the way back to our Airbnb. It is definitely a popular spot as there was always a line, especially if you come after last call. They sell pizza by the slice from a window from the side of the building. The employees are straight business and get them slices out quick. I'm sure it gets annoying selling to the late night crowd, but they handle it well. I've only came late night when the options are smaller and have only had the giant slice of pepperoni. The first night I went with one slice, but the second night my friends and I got lots of slices to take home. It reminds me of a New York style pizza. I've been here on multiple occasions for a cheeky pizza slice even at times I'm trying to eat healthy. The slices are just so tasty! My fiance loves the New York Style pizza so it only encourages me to go more. Sadly, due to covid, there is no dining in which is unfortunate as the inside of this place is awesome! No trip to Denver is complete without a stop at Marquis Pizza. Their BBQ seitan is what dreams are made of. And bro, they have vegan calzones. I get mine with mushrooms, bell peppers, BBQ seitan, and black olives. They use daiya cheese FYI. The calzone is pretty sizeable, but that doesn't stop me from devouring the whole goddamn thing. Marquis gets extra points for playing metal and having wicked stickers. They also stay open really late, but I'd recommend swinging by for lunch or an early dinner. Didn't make it past the customer service to try the pizza. Let me preface this by warning everyone that the online menu is $4-5 dollars less than what the menu price is at the establishment. Just saying, it's a tad misleading. Around 6:30 pm on Friday 8/18, we tried calling them to place an order that we could pick up. We called the number on their website (which is also the same number that google offers for the establishment) multiple times over a 30 min period. No one answered... no worries, maybe they're super busy and can't answer the phone. All good, as we only live about 20 mins walking distance and really wanted to try it after seeing their yelp rating. We got there (btw, literally nothing was happening in the kitchen/ordering window. No pizzas being cooked, no prepping, just 2 dudes hanging out) and the guy with a pony tail that "greeted" us at the ordering window was INCREDIBLY off-putting and just gave off the energy that he hated his life and didn't want to try to have even a gram of customer service or any interest in us trying to buy anything they offered. It's almost like he wanted us to leave. These kind of encounters I always take with a grain of salt and give the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, it wasn't giving that this guy was just having a bad day (check out the ton of other 1star reviews. I'm no detective but there seems to be a pattern) This is the norm. Wow, this experience was shockingly uncomfortable. Maybe the guy was trying to play the whole " I'm a brutally cold, tatted, too cool for school, don't look at me or I'll kick your ass guy". That's cool, i guess. But maybe keep him back (like far, far back) in the kitchen instead of being the first impression in potential customer interactions? Just a thought, idk. First night in Denver, I didn't know what to eat. Approach by a lady that suggested we get pizza. Right. I don't know her at all but since the knew a place I went with wth right. The service I have to say was pretty fast on a -4 degree night. With a show going on next door it was reminiscent of New York. The whole ambiance was a great intro to the city. Now the pizza was hot and served on two plates, however I cannot say that I was impressed. I didn't know the sausage was sliced instead of crumble, not bad. But, sauce to cheese ratio. I don't remember tasting any sauce and a few times I got a bite of cheese. I give it to them there was sausage in every bite, but the combination of meat to cheese just didn't quite get there. Cool little pizza stand in downtown Denver that's attached to the Marquis Theatre. We got food here during a show at the theatre but there's also an outside entrance for anyone looking to grub after hitting one of the numerous bars on the street. Their pizza is comes in large slices, wide and thin crust style, which is one of my favorites. The crust, sauce and cheese are all delicious and well-cooked. Personally I wish the toppings were properly cooked into the slices rather than just thrown on top because they fall off really easily when you try to eat it. But overall the pizza still tasted really good. The pizza is slightly pricy ($6 for a combo slice) but since it's pretty large you hopefully don't need to buy more than one. read more

Marquis Pizza was recommended to my co-workers and I from our uber driver after a night of bar hopping downtown this past week. Being downtown Denver and in the location we were, there really weren't very many options for food or at least any that we could find. Trusting our maps we ended up finally finding the place and once we arrived it was a pretty long line. The pizzas are offered in an al la carte type of style where you just basically build your slice and our full box. Hungry as I was I felt like I could've ate a whole box. I saw the slices from people exiting and quickly decided I only needed maybe two if that. While waiting to place my order I noticed the frustration from the two guys who were working behind the counter. At one point it was only one person who was taking orders running the register and making the pizzas. Now granted this seems like this could be a pretty frustrating circumstance but the level of disrespect that was being displayed from these workers was uncalled for. After placing my order there were more and more people lining up outside and finally one of the guys hops over the counter almost knocking my coworker on the floor just to turn off the "OPEN" sign. While doing so there was no "excuse me" or hell even a "sorry" he then proceeded to walk outside and basically tell people to leave because they wouldn't be making anymore pizza. They were down to about 8 slices and so whatever was left was left and he pretty much yelled out to people that they were wasting their time. Once I received my pizza I sat at one of the few table tops and started eating while still watching this unbelievable conversation between the two guys saying " next time don't fucking show up right before we close" as one walks back to the freezer. Yikes! At one point I was mad I even gave these jerks my money but when you are hungover and extremely hungry you make do. If I'm ever in the Denver area I would never return regardless of how good the pizza was. Very disappointing & terrible first impression! This place was recommended for great slices, but I have no idea since I couldn't get my order delivered due to a $15 minimum that is not posted anywhere on their website or mentioned when the order is placed. Someone took my order and immediately charged my card before someone else called back less than 5 minutes later to say they couldn't make a bike delivery for less than $15. The salad I offered to add to increase the order wasn't good enough and the guy really didn't seem to care one bit if I got my lunch so I just agreed to cancel and refund my money. A week later, no refund. I call back and speak to a manager (Jake) who said he'd "see if he could get that refund for me" which made me question if I was actually going to get it or not. So one month later, still no refund to my card. When I call again, the "manager" named Jake seems clearly annoyed that I am wasting his time with this he offered call their accountant again or bring me my cash as the only options - combined with a salty, poor attitude that seemed to challenge why I would bother over $9 from the beginning. Hmmm, why would I have a problem with giving you money for absolutely NOTHING in return? Ya know what - I won't bother! Keep the $9! If the pizza is anything like the customer service, I'm not missing anything and definitely won't risk a pricey group business order with these guys after this. read more

This place was a saviour to me a couple of times when in Denver. Many places in DT Denver do not open late so after going out and having a bit of fun with the bars and all and you get those late night munchies so what are you to do? Well this is the spot to hit up to even late at night. What's even more great is after 5 pm they have vegan slices. And they are giant slices and they make them thin crust and they heat them up and put on any veggies you want. I recommend the mushrooms as they are giant big mushrooms and they taste great with the pizza sauce. The people who work here are great and super nice. The menu is very vegan friendly. And if you come before 5 pm they still can make you a vegan calzone or pizza at any time of the day. What's great about their pizza is the crust is chewy and not doughy, the sauce is nice and thick and rich tasting. And best of all the vegan cheese they use is not overdone. Most places at home I have to specifically ask them to cut back on the cheese. A little is perfect and they do it perfect here for my taste. The only thing I have to warn you on is if you don't like noisy then this may not be your place. Almost every night they have loud bands playing music right behind the pizza place. They also have very limited seating so it's more a place to grab a slice and eat on the street or just stand at the counter.
