To start things off, this Marriott Hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed at. The staff here provided service beyond my expectations especially the manager Nada. She ensured we were taken care of from the minute we walked into until the time of our departure. The other associate Michael at front desk represented the Marriott real well and professionally and it shows. Besides the staffs excellent hospitable service, the property is clean and well maintained as in the common areas, restaurant and rooms. Stayed at this Marriott during a family reunion trip to New York City. The hotel was very well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed a total of 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was perfectly located a manageable distance outside NYC. We used Uber and Lyft to travel into the city daily and it was about a 30 minute travel time depending on traffic. We ate at the hotel downstairs restaurant multiple times and had good food and great service. We also attended a banquet on the premises that I was thoroughly impressed with the hotels assistance to make the event a success. The hotels catered event food was very tasty and many people complimented it. I would definitely visit this hotel again when headed to NYC. The only complaint I had was the rooms and hallways appeared a bit weathered with use but it appeared remodeling was in process. But nothing that was unacceptable. This place has gone to crap. The last time we stayed here was about 4-5 years ago and I can honestly say I considered it a nice hotel at the time but not anymore. We booked a room out of necessity of not having a shower due to a bathroom reno and we wound up leaving after using the pool and showering. The AC in our room was squeaking so loudly and not blowing cold air. The room was clean but just old and dingy. The people renting rooms for the pool and acting like loud animals in the hallway, weren't stopped. The yelling and screaming was insane. You need wristbands to use the pool yet management isn't checking them because the pool was FULL with people that didn't have them. The hotel has been around since I was a child and we always enjoyed coming here.. sad that it's not being maintained. read more

My stay was decent. Stayed here two nights due to a wedding taking place close by. Loved the option to write me and my boyfriends breakfast order for the following morning the night before and choose a time and hang it on the doorknob so id have to avoid calling down & waiting for breakfast in the morning. Also my family couldn't stop talking about the showers, they loved it. Only down fall was online the hotel says that their pool is open 24 hours but just a heads up unfortunately it is not which is understandable considering safety hazards. Also the morning after my stay i had red itchy bumps all over the back of my thigh and searched up reviews on the hotel & other guests reported they had bed bug bites. It is no Millennium Hotel in the Financial District, NYC (my favorite hotel) but it will do when visiting family in New Jersey and wanting my own space. It is conveniently located near route 4, route 80, and Garden State Parkway. The rooms are clean and if you should ask or need anything I have found they accommodate with no problems. It comes with what I need the most: THE GYM!!! I work with what they have available and is just fine with me. The pool is doable but rather small good enough for small kids or young to older adults who just want to wade in the water. The restaurant downstairs has improved their menu a bit but the prices could use some improvement as well. My only real complaint is the noise level that can be heard through the walls. All night long as I was trying to sleep doors were slamming, kids were running and screaming, and usually this gets drowned out but the walls are so damn thin you could everything even footsteps of people walking down the darn hall. Overall, the place is pretty pricey ($139.99/night) it gives you the bare minimum and I recommend it for a quick stay but if you are looking for luxury stay somewhere else read more

We traded in almost all of our marriott points to stay here? WTH? This place was far from the best hotel I've stayed at. It was old and decrepit with paint peeling off of the ceiling in the hotel room and noisy people outside our room all night and paper thin walls. Plus their bar closed at midnight on a Friday night. That's fine but it would've been a nice place to meet up with our friends even just to sit as we took a late night flight into town. Now I know I'm rating this place low but I have to admit that the employees were extremely, extremely nice. They even sent up a nice bottle of wine when we checked in. If I were rating it on the staff, it'd be a 5 star. But unfortunately, I was so disappointed by the rooms and barely slept with all the commotion. DON'T BE DRAWN IN BY THE UPGRADED LOBBY AND BAR! This hotel is one of the biggest rip offs around. The rooms are very outdated and the service is terrible. My sink had backed up after my second night, and I called to have it fixed. Maintenance tried to fix it with drain-o, but it was too under-kept for a short-term fix like that. The sink was unusable! After speaking with management about the inconvenience, they didn't offer to compensate for my troubles. I had to prompt them to give me Marriott points. Even then, they didn't even offer to give me enough points for a night at their location. I had to fight with them just to get enough points just for a night at their location. I will never come back to this location. There are plenty of Marriotts in the area, so if possible, try one of the other ones. read more

I have stayed in over 100 hotels in the New York and New Jersey area because my in-laws live in the area. This is by far one of the best establishments I have ever spent a night in. The ambience is nice, customer service is great and on the one day that I checked in at 7 AM and was supposed to check out at 12 noon, that immediately greeted me and understood my woes of being a traveler and informed me that I can check out at 3 PM. From the moment we got here, we had terrible service! The front desk clerk had an Attitude when we checked in. The room we booked online was given away to another guest (we are 5 people so we booked a large room with 2 queen beds and a roll out bed) they put us in a tiny room with 1 bed FOR 5 PEOPLE!!!! To top it off we have come from an 18 hour drive from Orlando FL... the room is next to a pool and we have not been able to rest since we got here because of the noisy children that have been up since 6 am!!! We have complained several times and management has not done anything to accommodate our stay. The whole point of a hotel is for travelers to REST and we could not rest at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! So if you want to sleep DO NOT COME HERE. The only pro in this hotel, is the house keeping service because they bought out two roll beds but even then the room wasn't even that clean. This is very old and subpar for a Marriott. The lobby looks nice but as we walked in hallways to our room, the popcorn ceiling and peeling paint told the story of how old the hotel is. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke, had paint peeling off the walls and ceiling. The layout was not well. The television was small in the far corner from the bed and if someone was sitting at the desk you could not see the television. The closet was inside of the bathroom. The mini fridge was sitting on the floor in the corner. Our view was to the emergency stairs. Was definitely NOT worth the price! Better to stay at another hotel unless you can get it at a cheap price. read more

One of the worst hotels i have ever stayed at. I booked this hotel for my cousins wedding. Rooms are outdated. A motel i have stayed at was better than this place. The thing that turned me off the worst was the people who work at this hotel are dishonest. When asked why they were closing bar early they said the party the night before had paid to keep it open. I was next to my cousin and her future husband who stated they never paid for anything to keep the place open. When asked what they were speaking off they had no reply. These people lied to my face, and to my cousins face who paid thousands to stay at a one star hotel. I seldom review, but had to when i heard these outlandish lies associated with this crappy place. THIS IS THE WORST MARRIOTT IVE EVER STAYED AT! After this experience I will never stay at another marriott again! Shay is so rude and their whole sales team tried to bamboozle me and my husband on our wedding weekend! It was a nightmare! They charged us for breakfast for every single person that stayed at the hotel when knowingly we only had 25 people from my wedding show up to breakfast with vouchers! they charged us for 72 people! This is beyond wrong! I am really considering taking legal action. The stress and agony they caused me on my wedding weekend was so terrible. I will never forget this horrible experience. I blocked rooms for my wedding day in this Marriott. What a nightmare. Kim who was supposed to be helping me did not help me. I specifically asked for all of my guests to be on my floor so that there is no room complaint. They placed my mother on the 6th floor, groom's mother on the 2nd floor. Our guests were scattered throughout the hotel. Kim then has the audacity to bang on our suite door to complain about the noise. After that she apologizes for not putting all of my guests on my floor. She then goes to the groom's door and threatens to call the police on him because they were noisy. Of course we have our bridal party in our room and we are reminiscing about all of our memories. It is the night before our wedding. Kim was extremely rude and the night of my wedding she ended up calling the police on us because we were "loud." Everyone was dropping our things off from our wedding in our suite. I would never recommend this place. If you are having your wedding nearby and plan on blocking rooms please beware. Not only will your guests be scattered throughout the hotel, you will also not get direction cards until you ask for them several times. They made this process so much harder by not being attentive of what I booked. read more

I stayed here with one of my girlfriends for a conference we attended. We had no problems finding the place. The hotel has nice decor and polite, accommodating staff. We were really excited about using the pool, but when we got there is was like four degrees in the pool area so we laughed about not being polar bears and went to Medieval Times instead. Living in a hotel for a month means you want a hotel that has the basic microwave/frig in the room without having to wait until someone else checks out to get theirs. 2. No Wifi: Getting charged for my daily wi-fi when I'm a rewards member is a bit petty.. (my company books my room through a travel company, I attach my rewards number prior to check-in.) 3. Noise: Even staying on the upper floors did not help how noisy the hotel is day and night. 4. The food in the bar/restaurant is good, but way over priced for what it is. In the last 12 months I have stayed at no less than 25 Marriotts, Residence Inns, Renaissance and Courtyard hotels throughout this country. I can say that the staff of this hotel is the most attentive and freindly of all the hotels. From the GM Patrick, to the Bilal, Nada, Lauren, Anthony, Staci, Zayla, Megan, Michael and Gabriel, they always make me feel welcome and take care of any of my needs. While I will agree they hotel is tired and could use a remodel, the excellent staff more than makes up for physical issues. Stayed for a wedding ... beds extremely comfy ... but if asked ""MISS is the 1st thru 3rd floor is OK???""" And you say YES after a late night wedding you may be upset . I stayed here recently for for a wedding reception that was at the Montclair Country Club and everyone decided to stay here. HUGE MISTAKE !!!! Upon coming back to the hotel the lobby bar didn't want to serve anyone because we had just come from a reception. Nobody was out of line or too intoxicated and it made no sense to not serve anyone. I stayed at this hotel April 18,2018 -April 22, 2018 and upon check in and entering the room for the first time, I noticed stool on the seat of the toilet. Luckily I had disinfectant wipes and lysol spray with me to wipe the seat down myself. The bathroom never was cleaned by house keeping my entire stay. The day of check out, I noticed once I arrived to the airport that a bag was missing and I called the hotel to see about getting my belongings mailed to my home. I spoke with front desk clerk, William, who advised that he had indeed gotten the bag out of the room that Sunday and that they would mail me my bag on that following Monday 4/23/2018, and proceeded to ask for my card number to charge me for shipping. On 4/27/2018, I received a small package that I could already notice it was not the bag that I had left. I opened the package and inside was a lotion and toothbrush. I called and spoke with another rep Rachel who stated she remembered the bag and was going to speak with her executive manager to see what they can do about my missing bag. I have yet to hear from anyone with an explanation as to what recourse will be made to make this situation right and therefore I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to this area for a stay, as they aren't clean or honest people. read more

This is a completely sub-par Marriott. Just recently stayed there for a night and it just felt weird and creepy. It's obvious that parts of the hotel have been renovated, but other parts that were not renovated just linger and are obvious. In the room, everything was updated except for the 1970s TV that was so old some channels came in wavy. Also, the AC pretty much was like someone lightly blowing. We sweat through the entire night. This is a weird thing to notice but since I have never seen it in any other hotel room, it was obvious. The toilet was at a strange angle and was an industrial, public restroom style toilet. For a hotel room, it was bizarre. The water pressure was awful in the shower too. And while we understood this wasn't the hotel's fault, there must have been several weddings or events happening and our room was right next to the elevator and people were loud in the hallways til about 5am. I just think if the hotel knows there are large groups and parties going on, this should maybe be monitored better. While I didn't use the fitness room, I do wish I had because this was the one nice feature of the hotel. The fitness room had a lot of nice machines to use. We were only here for one night, gratefully, but if we need to stay in this area again, it will be at a different hotel. read more

I recently stayed at this Marriott and there is something going on here. What I mean by that is do not bring your children, if you're a woman traveling alone avoid this place and if you have to stay here let someone know where you are and to keep tabs on you. Experiencing it would give you the same eerie feeling and uncomfortable-ness. There is something here that is very well kept in the dark and I am unsure of what it is but it definitely is something. (Some) of the staff are very sketchy and it seems like eat or be eaten environment meaning if you're not willing to go with whatever is being kept in the dark (which definitely is something) you're preyed on. I stayed here about a week and a half worked a lot in the lobby so I was able to pick up on all of that. Safe area so people tend to let their guard down. But don't! stay alert and safe that is what I would recommend and if possible avoid this hotel at all costs! read more

I haven't stayed at this Marriott for about 20 years. Back then the air conditioning and ventilation system was fair at best ! Today it's even worse! The last time I stay here my car was stolen from the parking lot in the middle of the night ! When the local police came they advised me that this parking lot leads the county in car thefts ! The front desk personel are very good...almost to over bearing.....the lobby and rooms have been somewhat updated....the restrooms off the lobby are terrible....they need updating badly. The parking garage where my car was stolen has been torn down. The outdoor pool is gone. The nice restaurant on the top floor is closed. There is nothing besides a Dunkin Donuts within walking distance. They changed my room twice before I got a room that had a good air conditioning system. The worst....: I needed a limousine to take me to a funeral in the area. The company that they called for me was anything but professional. The mans showed up in a flowered shirt with a tan old Lincoln Town Car. He didn't open the car doors for us, The car was old and dirty. When I was leaving and needed a car to go to the airport...I called a service that I found on google....big difference...and a big difference on price.....the driver told me that perhaps the desk clerk people or the hotel itself is getting a kickback...that is why the price was so high???? Further, I can't remember the last time I was in a quiality hotel and had to pay to use a computer in the business center.....not only did I have to pay, but using the computer for 15 minutes cost me over $20 !!!!!! Very disappointing for a Marriott. The tub didn't drain properly. The AC/heat blows right in your face when you lay in bed. There were no outlets near the bed. You could hear everything that went on in the hallway (and it sounded like a fiesta out there). Basic internet cost $12.95/day. The Marriott in Saddle Brook is very nice and looks clean. We first checked in at around 4 PM and all was fine. We then went out to dinner and came back at around 10PM where we were greeted with a nice big cockroach in the bathroom floor. Of course we freaked out and ran to the front desk. Luckily Megan at the front desk was very helpful during this situation and was very apologetic. She gave us a free room upgrade, along with a bottle of wine and WIFI. I wasn't happy about seeing that in our bathroom but at least we got help right away and was treated right in this situation. The customer service in general was okay - we did also have a problem during breakfast time. The gentlemen who was working the omelette station took our order and somehow made us scrambled eggs instead of an omelette? Which doesn't make sense because you are working the omelette station, I didn't have an option to choose if I wanted scrambled eggs or not. It wasn't a big deal until he grabbed the plate from me and threw it out and took a deep breath in my face like it was my fault. It was just a mix up and he was acting like I made it a complete inconvenience for him when in reality it was his fault. Saddle brook, NJ Marriot hotel restaurant. We went there 42 years ago on our first date, I am sorry we waited so long to go back. I had the rigatoni with sausage and meatball in Bolognese sauce which was excellent and my wife had chicken picata That she said was one of the best she has ever had. the service was excellent and our server carol was very attentive.
