I was about to spend $30K for a new roof when I decided to get a second opinion from MARS last December. Best decision I ever made! Not only did they quote me about half the price, they were able to get my insurance to pay for the whole thing because there was wind damage; not a penny out of my pocket! Plus, all new gutters! They even took care of removal and reinstallation of my solar panels. From start to finish, the project took about 2 months, but the roof itself was installed in a day! High winds tore one piece of fascia off. Called Mars Restoration and they arranged for someone to come estimate the repair. He arrived and after inspecting and hearing the age of the house, claimed that we could get a new roof via insurance. I asked if we really needed a new roof when it appeared to just be one piece on the side of the house... I also told him we had records from the previous owners claiming the roof was previously replaced less than 15 years ago. He proceeded to show me pics of my shingles that to my unprofessional eyes did not look horribly worn/weathered. But what do I know? So then he said we could file the insurance claim and proceeded to call my insurance company from his phone with me on speaker. We wasted about a hour but got scheduled for an appraiser to come. This initial experience didn't feel great and I felt as if the representative was only interested in milking my insurance for a new roof. I asked repeatedly what would happen if insurance came back and didn't offer a new roof (since I really couldn't imagine a new roof replacement being offered) and the representative said we could continue to file appeals and I wasn't on the hook for a new roof if insurance didn't cover anything. I didn't know whether our roof was truly in bad shape but decided I had already wasted the time/effort to call insurance so I'd just wait for the appraisal. The insurance appraiser gave an estimate 2-3 business days after his inspection... it was about a $495 estimate for repairs. Not a new roof, not even close. We forwarded the estimate to the Mars representative asking to schedule the repair. We have not heard back from them. We wasted about 2-3 weeks waiting for the initial appointment, appraiser appointment and insurance estimate. And now we've waited 2 weeks for a response to fix our roof. This confirmed the earlier vibe where I just felt like they were only interested in replacing my roof, not helping me address the actual issue. Don't bother wasting your time. read more

MARS helped us with repairs after a tree fell and damaged part of our garage and one of the walls of our house. Salvatore Pirozzi is extremely knowledgeable and experienced with insurance claims. I believe he is also an adjuster so he knows both sides. The whole team did an excellent job with all aspects of the repair and working with the insurance company. They paid great attention to detail, left things very clean, were on time, were trustworthy, and were a pleasure to work with. We also worked closely with Joe-- he was a joy to work with, very responsive and on top of things! Lastly, during COVID, they respected all the social distancing and mask-wearing requirements that I knew of and I felt very comfortable. read more

This company is by far the best company I have done business with. Request employee Ryan Lothian. Ryan came out to assist with replacing my roof after the wind storm. The level of professionalism. He walked me through the entire process, explain my insurance claim and was only a call away throughout the entire process. Never seen a guy tarp a roof by himself on a windy day with no fear to ensure no additional damage would be done. Ryan has excellent customer service, available 24/7 via text from the beginning to the very end of your project. Southern Maryland, St Mary's County, Lexington Park. A hailstorm passed over my home on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Unannounced, a Mars representative soon came to my home about 3 days later asking if he could inspect my roof for damage, which I granted. He found what I thought was a VERY small amount of damage and asked me to contact my home insurance (USAA) immediately about potentially replacing the entire roof shingles and to file a claim, which I had no idea would be possible since there was such slight damage. Mars Restoration are the professionals - not me, so I listened to their story. He made it sound as if it was catastrophic and I should have the entire roof shingles replaced at the cost of my insurance deductible. After the USAA representative inspector came to look and document the MINOR damage, he wrote a report which reflected approx $99 in damage and approx $460 in labor. Since the damages including labor do not exceed my deductible, USAA has sent me a letter telling me I need to fix the roof at my expense and if I don't, then a denial of future claim may be the result. Mars Restoration did me no favors by telling me there was potential damage sufficient to claim my entire roof could be replaced. Instead, it would have been far better to tell me it's so minimal, that I need not be concerned. Instead, they caused undue grief and now I have a $560 bill. And when replacement of shingles is done, the roof will look like garbage since matching them is not an option due to color, fading etc. If complete replacement of all my shingles is estimated to be ~$30,000 (according to the Mars rep), then the $99 material estimate for repairs is in no way representative of needing a replacement roof. Feel free to draw your own conclusions regarding these sales tactics. Don't get suckered into this process and be misled. read more

They didn't even get as far as to perform work in my home before I was instantly turned off. Here is a timeline: Friday, February 26: Jake Blush arrives and assesses the roof from the ground and my damaged back door to provide quote. Quote was verbal and arbitrary. Offered to return on Saturday at 9:00am for official quote. Saturday, February 27: Jake did NOT show up at 9:00, and did not call to inform he was going to be late until 11:39 am (2:39 hours late!). He finally showed up after Noon to take additional pictures of roof and rear door. Provided different amount for door and roof with labor costs (higher amount). Said he would return on Monday, March 1 at 10:00 am with the contract and assured me that he would not be late on Monday. Monday, March 1(today): it's currently 2:26 pm and needless to say, Jake Blush not only did NOT show up, but never bothered to call to indicate such. I called this company to routed me to Jake who had a ridiculous non-excuse and let's just say that because of him, this company will never have my business! I am working and don't have time for businesses that hire folks who don't take them or their potential clients seriously. I have other companies who've provided quotes that will be getting my business instead! read more

They knock on people's doors and lie to their face about their neighbors having a leak. Told me that our neighbors roof was leaking and of course, when I checked with him, it was a lie. They will come after a hail to scare homeowners into having an inspection. God knows what else they will lie about after the unnecessary inspection. Avoid at all costs. read more

Went above and beyond! I was concerned about the integrity of my roof after some shingles blew off after a recent wind storm. The owner climbed on my roof that night and inspected it, then explained my options in simple terms. After I decided on what route I wanted to go, he talked to my insurance company for me and submitted everything they asked for immediately. I could not have asked for more from MARS! read more

A gentleman from Mars Restoration was going door to door after the windstorm last year. He rang my bell and asked if I was interested in an inspection of my roof. I asked the cost of the visual inspection and was informed it was free. I answered, "Yes." About an hour later, John McCoy arrived to assess the roof. There was damage. He informed me of what he saw and assisted with the imitation of my claim with my insurance company. *John McCoy rates 5 stars. He initiated the call with the insurance to begin the claim for roof damage. He answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. He was excellent. *The roof workers rates 5 stars. *Mandy, the receptionist, rates 1 star. She does not return calls as promised. I had to call each time and reminded her that she said that she would call me back. She had an excuse and apology each time. *The Hispanic gentleman, they used to replace the gables, spoke very little English. While working on them, he informed "I pick up part. Be back." He left and did not return. I called Mandy, who informed that he did not speak a lot of English. It was days before he returned to complete that part of the job. When he was finished, he left without letting me know he was done. He rates 1 star from me. read more

I had them 4 years ago through an insurance claim, they were supposed to fix a roof/ siding leak. They fixed it and it worked for about a year and the same leak appeared a year later. Since it was outside of the year I had to pay someone else to fix it. Now I guess they are doing free roof and siding inspections. While that would be nice they were unable to diagnose my original issue and properly fix it. The lady who called wouldn't take no for a answer about scheduling a free inspection, unfortunately I don't have time to argue with someone while at work so I called up on Monday to cancel when I did I was rudely hung up on. MARS Restoration replaced my roof at the end of August. Andrew was the excellent sales rep we worked with during the process. He was extremely informative and answered all our questions at the time of the inspection and estimate and all the random questions at different intervals there after. Andrew came back to the home a second time to help with the roof color selection and sign the contract. Also, MARS later removed a weird gutter placement above the garage. They were extremely helpful and of the three estimates happened to come in the lowest. If I had to make one critique it would have been nice of them to have cleaned the three sky lights but that in no way shaped my review. I would definitely recommend them for anything roof related. read more

We recently had work done by Mars. They replaced our roof and about half the guttering on our house. I was very pleased with the work they did and also the manager, Eric, who we dealt when writing up our contract. The workers who replaced our roof worked very hard for about 13 hours and worked until they got the job done. We just experienced an unusual high windstorm here and I'm so thankful to report all our new shingles stayed put! Our yard was littered with shingles that belonged to our neighbors with old roofs but thankfully our new shingles did not budge! I would contact the company again if I ever need anymore house repair done. read more

This experience started off great where they were very responsive and were able to come out quickly to assess the damage. I was also using insurance for this small project. The project changed when the HOA stated that we could not do part of the project which beyond my control. We were originally quoted a specific price and paid a deposit. Once the project changed I asked for costs of the remaining project to include parts and labor. They refused to provide a complete list of this information and still expected the same amount due at the beginning of the project. They could not justify the remaining costs. I was not unwilling to pay if it made sense, but it seemed as though the entire project was overpriced and they didn't want to be transparent in letting me know the costs because the cost wouldn't add up to what they were still trying to charge me. Needless to say I will never use or recommend this company. If you use them be sure to get a price list of materials and labor to make sure they are not over charging you. They really were charging me $1250 to replace to pieces of wood and to paint them. Rip off and they know it! Lastly, i was told multiple times that the owner would contact me and i tried numerous times to speak with the owner to discuss the cost of materials and labor and he clearly avoided me. read more

Hired them for an insurance claim. After taking longer than expected I started repairing the end gables on the house. After days of prepping that included scrubbing with tsp ,bleach to remove the mold and mildew sanding and filling cracks I got it painted. The other end gable was taller and had all the electrical lines running into the house I decided to leave it for Mars. I came home from work found a ladder in the back yard with a paint brush and a bucket of paint. The insurance co had pump jacks and scaffolding in the price to get the job done correctly.Mars worker started painting over green mold and mildew and had a third of it painted. Called the office and told them to stop, its not the way I wanted it done. They didn't listen and came out the next day and finished painting. There was 20' of trim that was allowed for replacement and only a 3 ft piece was replaced. Going into the attic my wife noticed broken plywood in the ceiling where it looked as though someone broke it from above. Mars was allowed plywood in the claim to replace any rotten plywood on the roof and its obvious they didn't use any. I held back part of the money to have everything done right. They took me to small claims court and they never showed up and the judge threw it out of court. Two years later Im Summonsed to court again from Mars. Good luck .There not for me. read more

My experience with Mars was great to start out with but has ended terrible I fear. A representative approached my home recommending that I have my roof inspectors for damage. I obliged. It turns out I was able to put a claim in with my insurance to get my roof replaced, and MARS agreed to facilitate this the entire dialogue with the insurer. My claim had a $1000 deductible that MARS negotiated they would pay should certain items were agreed upon, including the bypassing the of replacing my gutter guards. I get a new roof and it looks great. But now MARS is attempting to apply for a lien on my house because they claim that I owe them $504 dollars. Due to the invoice they submitted to my insurer at the time, which did not include the replacement of gutter guards they did not pay out in the final payment for them. For 5 months MARS has been harassing me to press my insurer to make them whole. I have made several calls to insurance in order to help, but they requested more dialogue from MARS and the company refused. Their representative spoke to me in a terrible tone. So now they want to hold me accountable for their blunder. If they did not want to pay the deductible they could have refused and I could have went with different roofers. This whole experience has been draining. The company has received all insurance monies that were afforded to me and they still are harassing me. I would NEVER recommend their services to anyone. read more

Horrible customer service! I contracted them to have my roof replaced and paid for through my insurance company and as soon as I signed the contract and handed them a portion of the payment, I never heard from them for another 4 weeks when I called to expressed my dismay over the lack of follow up. It took them another 4 weeks to finally come in to finish the job. I believe there's a lack of coordination between the sleazy salesman Rick that goes out looking for business and the rest of the company. Don't deal with Rick! He's the most dishonest person I've ever met. I will NEVER recommend their services to anyone. read more

They changed two roofs for me. I was happy with their work. The only downfall was they were hard to reach and communicate even before Covid.

I'm sorry Salvatore but nothing in my review is a lie. I never told you that I spent the money the insurance company sent. As I clearly stated in my last conversation with you, I deposited the check into my bank account which is still there. Furthermore, I was never offered to sign a contract with you until last week's conversation. As unresponsive as you all have been, it would be foolish of me to sign a contract after the horrible customer service I've received. Yes you came out and installed the tarp but you failed to address in your response the numerous times I called to get feedback on whether you had contacted my insurance company regarding the claim or what was the next step for me to take. When your rep came out to install the tarp he asked me to send him a copy of the claim, which I emailed to him. I called his mobile number as well as your office and left a message for him to let him know that I sent it and for him to contact me to confirm receipt. I never heard back from him. I called a few weeks back and was told that your records indicated that I was insured by USAA which is not my insurer. Whatever your reasons were, after 10 months of being ignored it became quite obvious that you all had no desire to work with me. I put in the effort to communicate with you and do followups but did not receive the same consideration in return. I stand by my review. read more

I am updating my review of MARS restoration solely based on the customer service experience with Joe. Joe came in after the fact when a window started leaking and I assumed it had something to do with the roof repairs (because, see previous experience). He climbed on the roof and literally fought off wasp to see what the issue was. Turns out it is masonry work that is faulty, not the roof. Joe patched it up the best he could and followed up several times to see how the pitch work held up. I WISH he was out contact with this company when we got the roof, the experience would have been 10 times better. Meh. That's how I feel about MARS. And I found them via Yelp so I wanted to leave a review. After the wind storm in March 2018, it was obvious we needed a new roof. Went through our insurance, had a representative from MARS come give us a quote. At the time the gentleman said they would replace our shutter and all the screens, and we would receive a discount. Great! We understood that the supplies being delivered and our roof being repaired was dependent on the weather however the communication from the company was poor. I called several times finally reaching someone who was very sarcastic with me. Supplies were delivered, roof complete, then they wanted the remainder of their money, without mention of the shutters and screen. I explained what the initial gentleman said and they got right on it ONLY to bring us a used screen (clearly worn and dirty) and shutters that were a completely different color from the rest of the house. Like not even close. I finally told them they needed to deal with my husband only because I was annoyed (also, only one screen was replaced). The kicker was the tech showing up to my house to remeasure my screens and saw me on my front porch and didn't speak at all. Walked right by me, measured and left. We did finally get shutters close to the color and the one screen. I have never been so happy to be done with a company and wouldn't recommend them. read more

Our house suffered roof and siding damage during a storm in March 2018. I first contacted MARS in March 2018. The sales rep who met with me was fantastic and trustworthy, so of the three contractors I contacted, I selected MARS. The repair lasted through October 2018, primarily due to waiting on materials (siding) and a crew to install the siding. At one point in the process a crew arrived to complete the job, but they did not have enough siding, so they stopped. And, after the entire process was completed, I had to contact MARS to settle the bill (that was in December 2018). The bill they provided did not even have a simple breakdown of material and labor costs and despite the lack of details, had errors that I had to correct. Additionally, throught the process of dealing with my insurance company, I was always uncomfortable about MARS trying to find a way to return my dedutible to me through the use of false billing. read more
