Could not have asked for a better siding, gutters and painting experience with Orion. Not the lowest quote, not the highest, but we got solid, quality work with quality products and a very smooth experience, for a reasonable price. Their estimator came out and intently listened, laid out our options, and made sure we were all on the same page. He was honest and transparent about what could be done, what couldn't be done, and ultimately provided a very detailed, fair estimate. He was there when the crew arrived on the first day, and again took pains to ensure everyone was on the same page. The crew was respectful of the home, clean, efficient, and polite and friendly when we had to interact with them. The project manager visited the job each day and liaised between us and the crew, as opportunities for clarification arose. The crew's work was just as detailed and fastidious as the estimate, and everything they worked on, from the siding replacement to the exterior house painting and gutter replacement, went very smoothly. The end result exceeded our expectations, especially as the house is 70 years old with additions and oddly placed utilities and "old house things" that can make it challenging to work on. They took it all in stride and banged out some fabulous work, though! The house looks better than I've ever seen it. People keep noticing too, as we have been getting frequent requests to share Orions info with visitors who see their recent work during their visits. The good: Reasonably Priced and Decent Sales team The bad: Zero project management or follow through. In March I contracted with Orion Home Improvements to demolish and build a new deck. They failed to anticipate a new plat was needed and had promised no permits were required, as they would simply be replacing old footings. Both things proved untrue and we spent another 2 months obtaining the required permits. During that time Orion was not communicating and I had to call they every week for a check-in. May 3rd arrives and materials are delivered, a dumpster is dropped, and workers arrive. First two days run fairly smoothly with demolition. Day 3 is a half day, 0930-1230, "we are waiting for the permit", meanwhile the demolition is not complete and the dumpster is not filled, debris is piled in the yard. Once the the first permit comes in, the process is 3 more weeks with 1-3 workers per day, working 3 to 6 hours per day. Nobody communicates when they are coming or going, they just sort of show up. Three total weeks later a beautiful deck. Final permit/inspection is cancelled and another week goes by to get everything approved. Bottom line: Orion Home Improvement is unreliable and I will not be working with them again. read more

After a terrible wind storm, my parents townhouse roof suffered some damage. I did research and reached out to them. Brian was informative, attentive and prompt. He helped my family through the process and was even there when insurance came! We are very grateful. After the roof project was complete there was a corner that looked like it was lifted away from the gutter system. Jason and Brian had ensured us that the reason it is set that way is due to our old gutter system. However, our gutter system was still functional. My parents wanted to the aesthetics fixed with negatively impacting the performance. Bryan recommended that we upgrade the system and that would be the solution to the gap. We are currently working diligently with them and the new gutter system to get it fixed...I hope to update this review soon with only good things to say on the remaining project! ...to be continued.... I exhausted my efforts with this company. They made my parents spend almost an extra $650 to change the entire gutter system that did not need to be changed. I had several conversations with this company where I discussed my issued, but there was no resolution. In fact, Brian called our conversation "mute" at one point. The company is then stated that the owner would call-no dice. Moral of the story, they talk a big game, make you spend money with no proper explanation or a plan b for their mistake. Honestly, I wanted them to take accountability for their error, but that DID NOT happen. They're with 100% of the way until you signe the contract ($$) then communication is a disaster. not fair in their dealings. had a very small siding repair job (literally two strips of siding came off a 24in section)--called orion in jul to get an estimate, they said they don't do any work that is less that $600 but they have the flexibility to do it for less than that if they didn't need to purchase material. they came out and looked at the job--and sent me an estimate for the work and req down payment of $340. they determined no materials would be needed because the siding that came off my house was in good condition and it was easily replaced. they came out on aug 7 to do the work--less than 15min it took to fix the small job. no materials needed. october 6th--i get an email at 5p!!! telling me that i owed them another $340!!!!!!! two months later--another $340 for a 15min job with no materials!!! that was already paid in august!!!!!! go with someone else if you have a small job unless you want to be ripped off. read more

They are in the business of putting a contingency agreement in front of you to secure work then providing sub par communication. I've learned to wait a bit after work is complete to provide a review; it's been since March of this year that OHI repaired and replaced my roof due to storm damage. The entire staff were great to work with, they were flexible in starting as I had solar panels to remove before the roof repair could begin and we had extreme low temperatures to work around. They came in right after the panels were removed, and were able to finish replacement and repair over a 3 day period. They also repaired ceiling damage to one of my bedrooms due to the leak that occurred. Very pleased with the work 4 months later, happy to no longer stress each time it pours outside. read more

We had a leak somewhere in our roof. Our home is only 8 years old. I spent a lot of time on my own trying to figure out where the water was entering the house. I couldn't figure it out so I called reached out to Orion and two other roofing/construction firms through the Yelp system. Orion called me back first and I'm glad they did. They found and fixed my roofing issue like pros and at a fair price. They communicated well and were quick to answer calls and emails. No complaints here. All smiles. Two thumbs up. I want to like them so bad, especially since the first guy to come out to our house to give us estimates was so friendly and (seemingly) honest. We have had zero luck arranging for this company to come to do the work on our house. It took multiple phone calls and emails and revised contracts and finally we get the "final" contract signed and faxed. Then, dead silence from Orion. Fast forward to over 2 weeks after the fax is sent. They gave us a verbal promise that our house was "next in line" and would be gotten to within the week. Now they send us an email cancelling the contract, saying it's actually more work and more money. What? This entire process absolutely should not have taken several weeks. Nothing has been done and we are back to square one. Whoever is working in their office clearly is in no hurry to communicate with their clients. Waste of time, very disappointing. read more

We just got new gutters from Orion and love them! Jeremiah came out and gave us an estimate that I considered reasonable. He went through the options and helped us choose what was right for us, including some options we did not think of before, like a rain barrel to help with drainage and our garden. Two birds with one stone! He wasn't pushy at all, especially compared to other estimates we got. The work was delayed due to weather, which I can completely understand. I really didn't want someone falling off our 30 foot roof just keep a timeline anyway. They kept us in the know about this. The work, as far as my limited knowledge on the subject goes, looks very well done. They followed up with us afterward and ensured that everything was completed as expected. It's nice to know that there are companies out there that really do care about making sure their clients are satisfied. I would not hesitate to use them again. read more

As far as pricing goes they were comparable to many other contractors. They gave me a veterans discount so that sealed the deal (I also like utilizing companies that recognize and give discounts to service members and civil servants). Brian came by and gave the initial estimate. Professional and actually had me come up to the attic to see where the problem areas were. This really reassured me of where the issues were located and helped me understand the breakdown of the pricing for materials for the area that needed to be fixed. Two workers came (no uniforms and unmarked trucks), but Brian came as well to oversee the project as well. It was also pleasant to see that the workers were red blooded Americans and could speak English which is a pretty rare occurrence these days. They came around 8:30 and started work around 9 am. They planned to finish by 2pm and it was great they finished ahead of time and I couldn't be happier. They did a great job of matching the shingle color on my roof to my current color (that had faded a bit). They cleaned up all the materials and even blew the saw dust off the driveway. Great and professional... they came and left as if no one was even there. I would really recommend them. They dont try to squeeze extra money out of you.... take pictures as they do the repairs... and point out any issues that may come up so it doesn't surprise you later. Orion recently reshingled and re-roofed my townhouse and built a new back fence. I would definitely recommend them. Brian G. came by and gave the initial estimate for the roof. He went into the attic and found some areas where birds were getting in, which really pointed to thoughtfulness in his approach. He was able to produce an estimate within 2-3 days. The pricing was right in line with what I expected and the team was able to start the following week. In one day, the Orion team replaced the shingles and about 25% of the roofing of my townhouse. They came back the next morning to replace the soffits and a chimney cap that had been removed in the recent storms. About two weeks later, Orion came back and replaced by back fence. They demolished the old picket fence and replaced it with a custom shadow box privacy fence in just two days. They worked closely with another contractor who was building a shed, so that the two projects work well together and really complement one another. In each of these projects, they took care and cleaned up after themselves. It was like they were never there. Rachel in the business office was great. Throughout the entire process, she worked right along with Brian so that they were in lock step. The entire experience of working with Orion was pleasant and the house looks great. read more

Overall I was appreciative with Orion's services. Jeremiah was our point of contact/supervisor on this particular project. The job was a very quick turnaround as we needed a small demolition of a garage mudroom attatchment to just an entry step into the main family room of our house. The job could definitely be classified as "rush" since I had them bid for the service just two weeks before we needed the job to be contracted and completed. This price ended up being a bit more than I had budgeted, but for the time needs/concerns I'd say it was very competetive. The only downside of this particular job came from when Orion needed some minor/quick drywalling to repair/complete the garage walls after the demo. Instead of bringing in their own contracted employees they asked another contractor working on another separate project to help with their job. I had no concerns with this method since time was of importance, but the other contractor did voice a word of slight dissatisfaction with this request. Jeremiah was very kind in returning on a Sunday to finish up some odds and ends with the project which I felt was definitely going the extra step since he could have very easily just told us to wait until Monday to finish the job. read more

After i got a "thanks for your business" email from the owner, upon receipt of my check, I never heard from them again until I received the bill. I want consumers to know that Orion Home Improvements installed new gutters for our home and repaired shingles and fascia boards that needed to be fixed after we had several squirrels tear up our gutters and part of the roof. The first point of contact that answered the phone was very nice. She was very helpful and got me an appointment asap so the representative could come out to give us an estimate on fixing our damaged gutters, fascia board, and shingles. Brian arrived as promised and I was immediately impressed by his honesty and professionalism. He gave us an estimate and time frame for completion. I had a good experience with Jermiah at Orion HI. There was a total of three visits. The first visit was an evaluation of the roof damage we had. The guy came on time and answered all my questions. The 2nd visit was taken care of by two guys who had to do work on our roof outside. And the third visit was someone to come and do work on our office ceiling - patch up the damage (dry wall) and paint. Everyone was on time and cleaned up after themselves. We would never use this company again. It was a terrible experience. We hired them to do some misc work on house including, new gutters, repair rotted wood, replace rake board, window caulking, replace a couple spots of a few shingles. The project started badly from the very first day. I received an email that work was to begin on June 21st, a week after we paid our deposit on June 14th. Nobody showed, called nor emailed on the 21st to say no one was going to make it. On the 22nd a roofing guy showed up and did the roof repairs. He also replaced some wood but he had to leave as he wasn't scheduled to do any work other than the roof on our house. The person to start the other work showed up but didn't stay to do any actual work. The gutter guys showed up at 3:30, discovered rotten and unpainted wood so they had to stop since there was no one available to repair the wood which was part of the contracted work. The gutter guy called Geoff (our sales contact) and sent him pictures of the wood. The gutter guy said Geoff was going to call me with a plan but he didn't. On June 23 work was done on wood replacements. 6/24 nobody showed. I called Geoff about why no one was working and he said he'd call me back, he didn't. By 6/27 when nobody had showed up still and I still had not heard from Geoff I called Jason (supervisor), I explained the situation and was told he'd get us back on schedule. 6/28 power washing started 6/29 work was done all day, Geoff showed up and we went over in detail all that still needed to be done. I didn't hear one word nor did anybody show up to do any work until July 29, yes a whole month. 7/29 Geoff called and we set up a time to meet that day. I asked him multiple times why he didn't think they were in default on this contract, he would never tell me why they were completing ignoring our job. I went over all of the outstanding items, and he agreed to all of them. He told me he would call me on Monday, Aug 1st to let me know the schedule. 8/1 no call from Geoff 8/2 Geoff called and said work would start again on 8/8 8/8 nobody showed 8/9 nobody showed 8/18 received email from Geoff saying that someone would be at our house on 8/19 to finish 8/19 Rob here all day 8/20 Rob was here all day I think this should lay out why we would never use nor recommend Orion Home Improvements. I called Orion (amongst many others) to get an estimate to repair our vinyl siding which came loose during Hurricane Sandy. It was a small job (only a flap came loose) which other companies were charging and arm & a leg. Jeremiah was very professional and courteous. He had reserved 1.5 hours for our service call, so he waited in his truck while I tried to get a hold of my husband. His estimate beat all of his competitors and my husband gave the OK right away. He started the job and completed it professionally and promptly, making sure on both sides of the vinyl siding that the nails were secure. Our Estimator was Brian. He seemed very knowledgeable about the work and spent about 90 minutes going over my questions and walking the job. We had several estimates and their's was in line with the others, but I had a better feeling about them. The estimate was put together as I had asked with a core job and separately priced alternatives. We had a full roof, ridge vent, gutters and some other repair work done. They came on time and finished the job in one day. They took the time to show me when unexpected things came up (and thankfully they didn't cost us anything!) and spent about a half hour looking for roofing nails (this is a big deal as my last roofing experience and flat tires can attest). It's not cheap, but it looks good and like it will last. read more

This review isn't based on work actually done - it's just based on the estimate experience we had with this company. We have mold and some water leakage near a chimney, and the mold remediation company recommended Orion to come and see if there was a leak in the roof, which seemed the most likely thing. Orion spent an hour here looking for the leak and talking to us, and in the end told us there was no leak in the roof and they just couldn't take our money for work that didn't need to be done. Then they helped us figure out what to do next to find the source of the problem. We also asked about fixing another part of our roof, and they pointed out that it was just that there were some leaves and debris up there, and it didn't need repair. This was all completely free. I am just so impressed with the honesty of this company and thoroughness of the inspection. I almost hope something goes wrong with my roof so we can hire them. read more

I found Orion through online yelp/google searches. I found only good reviews and their BBB accreditation is a big plus for me. Hurricane had blown siding off our house. Jeremiah was VERY fast to set up an appointment for estimate. The email estimate contained clear pictures of the damage, and the price was very fair. The estimate indicated supplies would be delivered one day and work completed the next, but when the 2 workers arrived, they spent the whole day and completed the ENTIRE project that day. Looks great, and they even hauled away the debris we had stacked behind our fence without us having to request it. They did a great job. We needed a quote on a new roof and gutters. Orion actually had someone come out to our house on Saturday. If you've called other places you'll notice lots of businesses expect you to take time off so you can give them work. Orion's guy spent a lot of time going over the details and making us feel very comfortable with the options. Follow up after the visit was great.
