Our team was so happy to have discovered this place recently because we all love a deli sandwich, but I had a disappointing experience on my third visit last week. There was some confusion at the counter about which of the completed sandwiches were for my order and when attempting to explain it to me, all three women behind the counter started speaking at me at once. I have sensory processing difficulties and it wasn't possible to make out what any of them were saying due to them all speaking at once. This was very confusing and overwhelming. I responded with a thank you and took my items and left. Before I got out of the store, I heard them start talking about me. One woman said "That was a weird face. Did you see her face?" And as I held the door open for the delivery driver, I heard them continue to talk about me.. not a great feeling. It's important to remember that everyone is differently abled and might process information differently. While I was confused about what was happening, I remained polite and there is no excuse for talking about someone like that when you are in a customer facing role. A small, upscale market centrally located in St. Charles' New Town subdivision and across from the amphitheater. I've found markets like Marsala's typically have terrific made-to-order sandwiches, which is why I stopped in. Marsala's didn't disappoint. It was busy before noon so I thought they'd have some standard sandwiches prepared to go. Nope. They're all made to order. My stacked turkey and cheese sandwich was loaded with veggies on fresh whole wheat bread. Fresh also described the veggies on top. That's my sandwich review but Marsala's is a grocer. It features Boar's Head deli meats and cheeses, breads from St. Louis' Hill neighborhood, other local foods such as Fitz's sodas and Old Vienna chips, delivery side dishes, and some major brands in packaged foods. The meat, bakery, and produce areas were very light on selection. There was virtually no fruit in the produce section, which had a few standard vegetables. (An apparently forgotten full produce box in the middle of an aisle created an obstacle and tripping hazard.) As a deli Marsala's satisfied. But, as a market it lacked in fresh options for standard foods while offering gourmet packaged items at premium prices. read more

Marsala's Market is a tiny little gem of a market situated right in the middle of New Town St. Charles. Throughout the past year I've been to a few events in New Town and have always made sure to stop by Marsala's to pick up a sandwich and a few things for later. I have mixed feelings about New Town... I wouldn't ever want to live there but every time I'm in the area I can't help but notice how adorable the place is. It's literally an entire world in there... if you really wanted to not ever leave, you wouldn't have to. Which in my opinion is what makes it a little creepy... Back to the point, though. Marsala's is filled with everything you'd ever need in a grocery store but it's probably about 1/100th of the size of one. I'm not sure if anyone can relate to this, but when I was little and we'd go camping, all of the "good" campgrounds would have a little store where you could by anything you really needed while toughing it in the wild. Marsala's totally reminds me of that kind of place because it's the only place you need to go while shopping. Fruit and vegetables? Check. Wine? Check. Lighter fluid? Check. Really delicious pre-made deli sandwiches? Check. (Had to note the lighter fluid since I referenced camping.) The employees rock, and I wish Marsala's was close to me so I could make use of the awesome deli meats and cheeses, and more importantly, the small but solid wine selection. Just perfect! read more

I frequently drop by Marsala's Market and it is always a very pleasant experience. The general manager, Dustin, always greets each customer with a friendly hello and has never failed to ask me if there is any way he can be of service. The store is clean, organized and full of every day merchandise as well as hard to find items that I can't find at regular grocery store chains. I am thankful to have such a unique store with old world charm so close to home. read more

Cute small town market in the center of town. Lots of choices Beers and wines and a decent amount of groceries. It's not schnucks but I would have been disappointed if it had been so. They have a sandwich order to go area with many choices plus you can create your own. I had the breakfast sandwich. HUGE! I stuffed down half and was very full. It came in chobatta bread with sausage egg bacon and cheese. Tasted fresh. My daughter got the club. Good. Nothing spectacular but she was very happy with it. We also got a side of their Mac and cheese. It was more like a macaroni salad. They have about 4 tables outside to sit at while you watch people come and go to the post office next door. Everyone seems to know each other making this stop quaint and precious. I would love to live in a town were people have time to stop and chat. If you love the Gilmore Girls your first thought will be of Dooses Market and immediately stat looking for Dean in his green apron. read more

For folks in this small community, Marsala's offers a quick stop for necessities and also wants, including a nice selection of craft beer, wine, cheese, meats, fruit, veggies and desserts. What I discovered recently was their lunch options. They have a very nice selection of sandwich choices, such as chicken salad, roast beef, turkey and the like. The sandwiches are ginormous - just packed with all sorts of goodness like fresh and crispy onions, lettuce, sprouts, never mind the large portions of the main ingredient. If you order off the regular menu, you get a large sandwich and a pickle spear - I saved a half of my sandwich for dinner that night, it was so large. They do run daily lunch specials, which include chips. The price for a sandwich is around $6, which is a deal for what you get. The service is good - prompt and pleasant. There are seating options outdoors, an you can often find cyclists who've stopped off to enjoy a cold drink and some shade. It reminds me of many of the corner markets that can be found in my favorite city, NYC - mainly in the prices. Obviously, since they are the only option in New Town for groceries, they inflate the prices. But, if you've forgotten something for dinner and don't feel like driving a good 10 minutes one way and spending the gas money, head on over to Marsala's. And hey, you're supporting a local business, which is always a plus in my book. read more

Love this place! They have amazing lunch specials, great craft beer selection, and all the essentials you need from a grocery store. While I wouldn't do all my grocery shopping here on a regular basis, I stop in all the time to pick up an item or two. Also, the Deli Special is can't miss. 1/2lb Boar's Head Turkey, 1/2lb Boar's Head Ham, 1/2lb Boar's Head American Cheese, and a loaf of bakery bread for $10.95! This is my all time favorite place to get groceries and amazing customer service. The fact that it's such a family oriented business with great staff, and great food..I have continued to give Marsala's my business for years. I've been coming to this market since I was a little girl. I have had nothing but positive experiences here. There is an amazing wine and beer selection..along with liquor. The Boar's Head deli meats and cheeses are always sliced with care and precision. The sandwiches taste just as great as they look. At Marsala's you get great service and awesome recommendations. It is worth the trip even if you don't live in New Town. Great beer and wine selection and specialty items. Be sure to get breakfast sandwiches there which are pretty much homemade and are soooo much better than any fast food breakfast. For lunch, they have you covered on made-to-order sandwiches. No need to get one from any of the chains there, either. And lastly, you can get awesome pies from them if you request it and give them a heads up. My family loves Marsala's! read more

Marsala's Market is part of a the new town subdivision and is open on weekends - unlike the other eateries in the complex. They have great deli sandwiches and a good selection of cheeses, drinks, good selection of fresh brewed coffee, and other items you'd expect in a corner grocery. Also kudos for having vegetarian/pescaterian options (very veggie sandwich on a roll, and albacore tuna), which can be challenging to find in the midwest! TBecause it's tucked in a little subdivision and is more for the convenience of the residents, it does charge higher prices to make a profit since it has lower volume. read more

We just moved to New Town. I was excited to have a little market so nearby for those last minute grocery items. I went to get an 8 oz container of mushroom. They looked fine from the top. When I opened them to slice them, all but two were slimy and rotten. No use by date on the package or anything. Very disappointed in the quality. read more

I am in here almost daily. It is walking distance to my House of Zin II. They have a little bit of everything and it's ALL GOOD!!! Great wine selection for such a small store!!! Wonderful employees. Awesome Deli! Lot's of smaller brands you would see at Trader Joe's but they still carry some of the big brands. Plenty of the basic fresh veggies and fruits as well as stuff to make basic dinners with. They have about 3 tables inside if you want to eat there or about 4 outside if the weather is nice.
