So yes, I'm reviewing a Marshall's 1,000 miles away from my home. LOL. That tells you something..I'm a fan of this store for sure. I'm a Maxxinista for sure. We ended up at Marshall's b/c of the unusually warm weather in April - girlfriend needed some shorts. We weren't prepared for 70s when we packed for our trip. Anyways, this is probably the best Marshall's I've been too. EXTENSIVE plus size department and accessories. Speaking of accessories, PJ was the bomb. She is the accessory manager/coordinator. That's primarily why I'm writing this review. She was awesome and provided service that I expect at Macys, not at a discount store. I find some fantastic housewares and linens here: A Calphalon stock pot for $20.00, Mario Batalli spoons and spatulas for $3.00, some Massive red Ralph Lauren velvet throw pillows for $10.00 each... it's not just a disorganized bargain pit, it's a hidden secret bargain hideaway... (an oasis of relief once you get away from the predatory, pushy salespeople of Macy's: the ones who lurk around every shelf "Can I help you? How about Now? How about NOW? What do you mean you can read the overpriced label yourself? You need me to ram it down your throat because I want my commission!") The most popular ride at Disney World in August. That's the typical line at the checkout registers at this place. Despite some great finds in the clothing, luggage, shoe and pet departments, I dread actually FINDING anything because I'm going to watch my hair go gray in that infernal checkout line. They have 14 checkout stations, most unmanned, and the lines are this bad whether it's Tuesday at 11 AM or Saturday at 2PM. Upstairs at TJ Maxx, there's no issue. read more

I am no longer a fan of the TJ Maxx/Marshalls brand which is unfortunate because you cannot really beat the price point. But lately, every time I visit this Marshalls the store is a huge mess, no workers are there to help (ever), the selection in mens clothing is horrible (This is Michigan Avenue! What is the issue), there is never any furniture here either. I just won't even try anymore. read more

Marshalls - Oh. HELL. No! - Department Stores Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

It was at the tail end of a shopping trip, including a pit stop to the ninth circle of hell (aka Bed Bath and Beyond), when I decided to hit up Marshalls. I was a little skeptical, having taken a break from this location, and knowing that urban discount stores generally get picked over more quickly than their suburban counterparts. This was borne out when I noticed a deccorative basket, that I had been meaning to pick up on my way out, was gone by the time I had circled through the store. Ah, well. She who hesitates is lost, I suppose (lesson learned). This visit was a pleasant surprise, in that I found quite a few designer tops (Rugby by Ralph Lauren, Velvet, Free People, etc.). Since I was not really on the lookout for any clothes on this trip, I decided to bypass these, and headed for the bath/cosmetics section, as I was looking for some soaps to class up a bathroom counter. I was glad I stopped here, as I not only found the aforementioned classy pump soap (made in England, no less) but also some lemon-verbena bath salts, and an olive oil bar soap, milled by a small shop out of California. On the way out, I also hit up the accessorires section. The handbags were a bit bedazzled, but I did luck into a quilted, chanel-inspired ziparound DKNY wallet (the fact that it was only $30, marked down from $95, only sweetened the deal). The lines to checkout are long, but they move quickly, even on a Saturday. I will definitely be back to check out the ever-rotating array of designer goods and to source bath and beauty products that look pricier than they actually are. read more

If you find an item that doesn't have a price at this Marshall's, don't bother asking the cost. I found a cute green The Sak purse that didn't have the Marshall's price tag. I stood in the check-out line and told the cashier that the purse didn't have a price. He paged someone from accessories ... twice. I waited for 10 minutes and then left. I really really really wanted the purse but I was in a hurry and couldn't wait any longer. My friend was looking for a jacket and couldn't find anything because nothing was hanging in its appropriate rack. She was looking for shoes and couldn't find the appropriate boxes for shoes displayed. I don't think I would go back to this store unless I was looking for a purse because the purses were more or less organized. read more

They have a good selection of clothing at this location to include some high end items. Beware though! While trying on a sweater, at this location the other day, I was bit by something and my whole arm is swollen now. Whatever bit me, that was in the sweater, was pretty nasty. I am frugal when it comes to clothes. Strike that--I'm cheap. I think it's the after-effect of being a poor student for seven years straight, but I love me a good bargain. This is a fabulous Marshall's. They have a great selection of shoes (holy pumps, batman!), work dresses, and women's workout clothes. I get great sports tops and shorts--mostly Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas--for at least half the price of places like Sports Authority. They also have great accessories--bags, scarves, tights, socks, you name it. The line can be intimidating at times (especially on the weekends), but it moves pretty quickly. I look forward to my adventures at Marshall's--always a good deal, even if I don't need one. read more

Worst service ever. Tuesday at 10am, line is so long to check out....dropped all items and left. This is the third and last time. If you wonder why there are piles of merchandise everywhere, it's the things that customers selected, but didn't have an hour to check out. I was there today checking some bed sheets and employee "Harrison B" was fixing the merchandise he was really mad and complaining and throwing the packages of sheets in the shelves in front of me and he never say excuse me or sorry , he was very rude . I'm been customer of this marshals at least for 14 years and never experience nothing like this . I feel Very disappointed !!! So I know its June/summer time but last week the temps in Chicago dipped down to the 50's. Hubs didn't pack any long sleeves so we stopped into a few shops looking for something simple - a long sleeved shirt, a hoodie, whatever. Apparently Chicago doesn't believe in sleeves b/c we could not find anything in Marshalls (or several other stores we stopped in) that was suitable for the weather. Ugh. So yeah, we went in out of necessity and even though we didn't make a purchase this Marshalls is worthy of a second visit. It's large, well stocked, clean and I noticed plenty of cash registers open which is always nice. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, unless I was looking for long sleeves. read more

This is my favorite Marshalls in the City of Chicago! They have a wonderful selection to pick from. This is the only Marshall I can go in and find great items and my fiancé also. I found some great Michael Kors Boots and Michael Kors Wool winter at such a great price. They are always restocking with new things to pick from. First of all, THEY ARE NOT ON MICHIGAN AVE. They're on ONTARIO at RUSH, just across the street from Lawrys the Prime Rib. Google that address instead. Now, the store was very poorly organized. I could hardly find anything I was looking for. Then, their shoe selection was sparse for folks in the size 10 range. Practically nonexistent. The TJ Maxx downstairs was no better. I will say that their customer service was decent, but that doesn't help too much when you've got frustrated customers who can't find their size or whatever they're looking for. Boo. read more

I love the store but i have to note that employees are really unprofessional and not giving consistent messages! I am customer of Stores since i moved here and did have a reward card with them. Last month while paying at cash till using my card, Sales rep asked me if i want to upgrade! I am really new to country and i have asked her for details, i also specifically asked if that is a new card and my credit check to be performed, i was assured(!!!!) since it is upgrade no check will happen and my master card will just replace reward and i have to do nothing. I got suspicious when i received notification from credit karma on card addition. I called syncrony bank and they told me that instead of upgrading store opened new credit card and that is why i had hard enquiry on my card!!!!i wanted to file complaint, they suggested to do with store directly, which i did...and all i heard from stand in manager was apologies that staff is new and need to go through training again! You gotta be kidding me...someone in a store made a mistake and customer have to suffer???? read more

Yes this Marshalls has 2 floors but NO it is not one of the better marshalls I have been to. Let me also be clear that I have been to A LOT of marshalls, in fact I am a huuge marshalls fan. The prices here are just not that great, their clearance items are not even that cheap. The store is like maze on the second floor...I almost got lost trying to find the bathroom. You will NOT freaking find the bathroom, it is behind a thousand layers of walls... The store is also pretty disorganized, especially the clearance section. My concept of Marshalls is that you get a good bang for your buck and feel good after shopping. But this place, I came here and I just lost my shopping vibe. If you are coming to magnificent mile, go somewhere more distinctive, shop at marshalls at your nearby neighborhood shopping center. read more

The store is much less organized and inviting than TJ Maxx upstairs. I tried to shop but they placed a greeter at the door thats yelling over and over and over and over....at the top of her voice...WELCOME TO MARSHALLS. HAPPY HOLIDAYS. COME ON IN YALL. I shopped Marshall's in Cali and didn't find nearly the amount of stuff I find in this location. Don't know why, but this one is a whole lot better. I've found pictures, housewares, a gorgeous vase for $10 -- this place rocks! One thing is for sure - if you see it and want it, get it. It probably won't be there if you go back later! Love me some Marshall's. I like it better than TJ Maxx and a little better than Filene's at times. read more

Nice store my advice take your time and look some hidden gems.

Obviously, Marshalls is great for catching deals on designer items or random knickknacks. Some staff are more helpful or initiate being helpful more than others. The major issue I have with this store is the complete lack of register staffing or response when there are lines. At 11 am there were 3 registers opened and a line wrapped around the corner. Management team, why? I understand the sales floor needs attention, but you have customers waiting in line unnecessarily for long periods of time. read more

Some years ago, with great views of the city, this Marshall's location just off of Michigan Avenue was a great place to find stylish outerwear by the likes of Ann Klein, Kenneth Cole or London Fog, and other great finds, that one would not see at the other locations, that made the long checkout wait times bearable. But, unfortunately, in recent years it seems that even Marshall's flagship N. Michigan Ave store has definitely gone downhill. Failure to restock the empty isles, edgy sales-staff and the subpar, limited selections just aren't worth the lost time or hassle. There was a time when you could be sure to find a great coat or shoe selection at either Marshall's or their TJMaxx branded stores, but no longer.. Unless you're simply looking fr luggage, bedding or kitchen cookware accessories, look elsewhere as you won't find much by way of fashion selection availability. If you're trying to budget or just really looking for a great deal on wardrobe and outerwear, wait for one of the the black-Friday or black-monday sales at either Nordstrom's or Macy's and in a pinch try Burlington's for outerwear and maybe DSW for footwear. Spend some time here and you'll find some great deals. I visited during my lunch hour and spent well over my 60 minutes. Tons of clothes, outerwear during the fall/winter and a men's Big and Tall. They also seem to have a generous shoe section and tons of purses. A real great place to stop after you've seen all the high prices on Michigan avenue. Dressing room attendants were nice. Ladies, you're limited to 8 items at a time in the dressing room. Checking out was quick, as well. Overall a great experience, just plan to spend some time going through all the available merchandise. read more

Bargain hunting Betty here, and I love finding great deals in pricey cities. I needed a pair of jeans for the brisk, windy city I had been wandering around for a week. I marched over from my hotel and found numerous pants and jeans to pick from. I tried on about 6 pair before deciding on the perfect pair. Not only because they fit perfectly, but because they were on clearance for $13 dollars. Holla at your girl! I love a sale. I also found a dress on clearance, but decided against buying it, only after thinking, I have enough dresses and I bet sweaters will be on sale soon, and I can hit up the Marshalls in my own town. The jeans are hot...OH and so was this Marshalls. What is it with all the businesses in Chicago being about 15-20 degrees warmer inside than the outdoors? I do not like sweating while I eat. I do not like sweating while I shop. This was a consistent thing I noticed the entire time I was in this city - too hot to shop? Blasphemous. It took everything I had to stay in line to pay for my item because I was so hot and cranky. Not OK. read more

I regularly visit this Marshalls and I often find great deals, but I've recently had an especially great experience. I found a white shirt for a business meeting and it was the first that has ever fit me really well! The last one left had a TINY mark on the collar. When I went to check out, I asked if they ever take off any cost for a stain (I hate to ask things like that, but I was a little low on cash). A manager was standing behind the cashier and overheard me say that I was excited it was the first white shirt that fit me. She came up and said she was glad I found it and she knows how hard it is to find a good fit. She gave me a nice discount! I'm super appreciative of the guys at this store. read more

I was shopping late Friday night and I was trying on a jacket by a mirror and I decided I didn't want it so I placed it down while I tried on other jackets. Priscilla an employee there made a B line straight to me and said to me in a really rude manner that if I didn't want something to take it to the check out area and give it to an employee there. Ummm excuse me ?! It made feel so uncomfortable I no longer wanted to try anything on so I went back to her and gave her everything I had in my cart! I get it was late and she probably wanted to go home but that's not good customer service and when I handed the clothes to her she made another smart remark "have a blessed day" with an under tone of "get the heck out of the store". Went in this store today and had a horrible experience and this isn't the first time either, it's been this way since before Christmas, the rudest of the coordinator was unbelievable. I found a cute throw in the clearance area, no price, no name, nothing on it, so I ask up front what the price was.......this creep gets a throw and puts the same price on the clearance item, so I ask is this the clearance price......I don't have a price for this so I am marking it as a regular item for sale, and I can do that.......what the f................it was in clearance area and he could care less. This has been happening again and again and now no more layaway's either. So now I will find a new place to go shopping for this company has an attitude problem in not taking care of their customers.......they must think they are Macy's now. read more

I was so excited to see Marshalls and TJMaxx as I walked to lunch on a recent visit to Chicago. The others on/near Magnificent Mile are not really my thing for the most part. I do most of my shopping at discount stores. I walked around for quite a bit, but didn't find much that I was interested in. They have a pretty good selection of athletic socks, but I just decided to buy some at home. There was a cute junior skirt, but I couldn't find it in my size. The only thing I purchased was a bottled soda cause it was much cheaper than buying at my hotel or at Walgreens. read more

Marshall's is always going to be a hit or miss shopping experience. That being said, this marshalls is larger and cleaner than most. With a larger than average selection of travel gear (it is one block off Michigan Ave) and seems good for tourists. read more

This Marshalls is conveniently located in the city by Michigan Ave. I really enjoyed coming to this Marshalls because it was very clean and well organized. The shoe section wasn't chaotic and majority of the shoes were nicely put back (might be from the workers). This Marshalls had a lot of variety which didn't help with the fact that I came specifically for bathroom stuff and left with a pair of shoes, bathroom stuff, athletic attire and almost a clutch! One thing that I have always liked about these department stores is the low price. I was able to find everything I was looking for at a lower price and ended up returning items I purchased at Target the day before! Definitely coming back here for the hell of it. read more

This is actually a decent Marshall's, unlike the store on Fullerton. They have decent merchandise here and it doesn't appear to be super disorganized which is refreshing. But, like all discount stores it will be a hit or a miss. read more

I love this Marshalls. Just like the Marshalls in a non-big city, the prices are the same and very reasonable. I got a Jake Arrieta shirt for $14, which is a pretty solid deal. I also got nice dress shirts for $10, shorts for $10, tees for less than $8. The only downside is the line at the checkout takes roughly 10 minutes to go through because of the sheer number of people, but for me it's worth the wait. read more

I hadn't been in a Marshalls in quite some time, so I walked in, I felt a bit...disheveled. It was a lot to look at, not the prettiest store in the world, but it's not too bad. I'm not a big fan of their junior section, namely because I'm not really into plain tee shirts with a name brand logo on them, but if you look long enough, there's nice stuff. I like their shoe and handbag sections. read more
