This was such a great idea, because apparently the Merchandise Mart didn't have a bar space in it before? Definitely a much needed edition. I got the French Martin-ini which was this perfectly tangy passionfruit cocktail with that nice frothy egg white layer on top, and my boyfriend and I shared the calamari. The drink was perfect, and the calamari was pretty good although I would say it was nothing to write home about. I would definitely come back and try more of the food because I think this place has the potential to have some really good stuff. I looked at what all of the people around me were getting, and the burrata was the dish that really stood out to me. Will definitely be back to try. read more

I've been to lunch here a couple times and it's pretty much a disaster. I always seem to get a waiter with an attitude, which I always try to sympathize with until they make expressions like you're an idiot. I've seen plenty of stressed out but polite servers, so really the attitude is unnecessary. Having a quick drink here after work has been a little more convenient but our server always seems to disappear. I enjoyed this place strictly because I used to work in The Mart and it was easy as well for my friends or coworkers to meet up. By the far the best turkey I've ever had while simultaneously being the best food option located in Merchandise Mart. I honestly haven't eaten at every establishment here however out of the ones I have visited this has been the best. I'll start my review from bad to good. The breakfast sandwich, which was eggs & bacon, was pretty terrible. It was made to order however there was literally no flavor & priced at $7 I expected much MORE. Fast-forward to my second visit here which was a late lunch & my perception is totally changed. The best turkey I've ever eaten in my life is what resides here. The turkey isn't dry like most of my experience with turkey burgers. The brioche bun was a true match made in heaven. It was decadent as well as being light. You could tell the fries that accompanied the burger were hand cut in addition to having the perfect amount of salt. All of this tastiness priced at $12, before tax, & I was a very happy customer. I'll go ahead and say that I'm gonna give this place another try but my first visit wasn't ideal. Here's what I learned from my first trip: - This isn't a place to take conference calls/phone mtgs. It's too loud (ppl talking, building trash/maintenance), especially if you sit in the front near the walkway and cafe. - Do come here if you want to get out of the office/house and have an easy work day ahead (ex. solo "busy work") or an in person group discussion. -There is some healthy competition for outlets/charging. -The wifi is good. No issues with slow or dropped connection. Easy to sign on. -The cafe has coffee drinks but limited food options. The avocado toast was good. -The back part of Marshal's Landing never opened which was disappointing because that's what drew me in. I left at 11am and it was still closed. I'm definitely going to give this place another try and hope things go better then. read more

Great spot to grab lunch for a treat yo self moment during the work week! Located inside Merch Mart, at the top of the steps; this restaurant is great for both groups and individuals. There's a variety of seating: bar seating, lounge couches, booths, giant family-style long tables... so much seating. Coworker and I stopped by for lunch on a nice Friday. It's a little confusing since there isn't a hostess stand so we walked over toward the bar where someone came over and asked where we'd like to sit. We opted to just sit at the bar. We decided to split the ML burger with cheddar and the date salad. The burger was so good! The patty was seasoned well and the burger came with fries. The date salad was a nice as it came with bacon and goat cheese. Service was wonderful. The bartender took care of us and had the salad and burger split into two portions for us! We ordered saying that we'll split the burger and salad so it was very nice to have that done for us and on separate plates (fries were split too!). The bartender checked in on us periodically but never felt like we were being rushed out. Definitely check out Marshall's Landing if you're around Merchandise Mart! Simply put, I'm obsessed. I've worked in the Mart for about four years and this place is an amazing, welcome addition. They have free beer in my office, but I'd rather come here. I have dreams about: Rose on tap. Amazing, cheaper when included in their Happy Hour Special (even on Fridays). Cheese fries. I had them twice last week (shhhh). They are thin fries with an ah-mah-zing creamy cheese sauce, almost like fancy mac and cheese but with fries instead of noods. Service is ON POINT (sit at the bar or buzz when you need something from your table). Not to mention, incredible city views. I looked out the windows tonight and felt lucky to be in such a pretty city. If you're in the Mart or River North, this is a place you want to check out 100%. read more

This is the brand new lounge in the Merchandise Mart and it looks and feels super trendy but is definitely meant to cater to the business people in and around the Mart. They have a lot of large, group style seating so it's perfect for a team happy hour. There's a pretty extensive drink menu with beer, wine and a full bar. The sangria was seriously awesome--it's so hard to find white wine sangria and they kick it up with a bit of vodka. It's not a fruit-filled sangria like other places, which is fine by me--I'd rather the space in the glass be filled with booze instead of fruit. Drinks aren't cheap though! A glass of wine or cocktail will set you back about $12 but they do offer happy hour prices! They have a small bites menu and a burger. I didn't try the food when I went, but it sounded good. What's super nifty is they have these little buzzers at each table so you don't have to wait around to flag down your server--you hit the button and someone will be at your table shortly. They also have a reservable conference room behind a hidden door so you'd feel like James Bond whenever you're entering or leaving. read more

I have worked in the mart and have gone to marshalls landing a few times for an afterwork cocktail but it wasnt until recently i learned how truly delicious and actually reasonable their food is....for instance their turkey cheeseburger is possibly best burger i have found in chicago. Asiago cheese, arugula on a great bun...just the perfect flavor combo. Their fries are crisp and delucious and dont get me started on their salads. This is a beautiful new spot at the mart, but what doesn't make any sense to me is that it is on the same floor as the food court and you're not allowed to bring a Starbucks that you bought at the mart to the couch area. That would be like buying a Starbucks then finding a place to sit in a food court and it happens to be in the vicinity of a Mcdonalds and having them make you move. Sorry but If you're going to have an open space on the same floor as the food court in the merchandise mart, you need to have a door, a roped off area and reservations or something. read more

Marshall's feels upscale without the tab being too expensive. Just about everything I've had was really delicious. Highly recommend the chicken fries, the calamari, and the ML burger. I have come to lunch very often with friends and coworkers and the service is consistently slow. We've even tried to go when it's not that busy, and there wasn't much of a change. I've felt very rushed to order, and then the food is pretty late. On more than one occasion, we've waited more than 40 min. I'm not really sure what a typical wait time is, but that doesn't seem right to me. If you go, you'll enjoy the view and the lux vibe...and you'll certainly enjoy the food. Hung out at Marshall's Landing while a sudden, crazy thunderstorm was happening. I really like this place. Cool hangout and setup with the furniture. It's communal seating- so yes, there are couches and giant booths, but that doesn't mean that two people get that giant booth to themselves. My husband got a cocktail he really liked with barrel aged gin, I think, and I got a cider from Michigan, which was a very generous pour. We only got the housemade chips and onion dip to eat but from that alone we'll be back to sample everything else - it was really good! Great new space at the Mart for meetings, lunches, drinks. Had lunch today at the bar. there aren't a lot of tables conducive to eating a meal (low coffee tables) but it is geared more towards small plates apart from the burger. Speaking of the burger, I had it for lunch and it was delicious. However, I asked for medium well and got a barely medium burger. My friend asked for medium and got a very rare burger. To his credit, the manager came over and noticed it and asked if we had requested them that way. We said no, but that we were ok. When we checked out, we had a credit on our bill which I greatly appreciated. We also had the spicy chicken fries to start and they were amazing! You're looking at one of the biggest buildings in terms of business in Chicago, so on a Friday these guys get business. I was here from 2-7 pm, with a group and asked constantly if our checks would be separate. I just wanted to ensure it would be easy for all those involved. I'm a regular at the coffee joint.. or at least I used to be. This place can't seem to get my order right. When I ask for whole milk, I mean it. Skim != whole. They have no issue glossing over the fact that they are either out of whole milk (cashier will say they do have it) or just ignore the order (like today) and use whatever is the most convenient. Today, it was skim milk since the container was closer to the person making my drink. The whole milk was sitting out, just behind it. When they get it right, the coffee is pretty good. read more

Its as relaxed as you want it to be with open couch seating, tables, a bar, plugs galore, and a walk up coffee shop OR as restauranty as youd like with big booths, fancy cocktails, and an amazing view of the Chicago River. I work around River North so this is my go-to for meetings with clients as its central, comfortable, and i can get to the train without stepping foot outside.
