The bargains are good if you can find them but the checkout line is LONG. I found myself here on a Friday evening around 5:30ish on a hunt for a specific Halloween costume piece. It's not the most organized place on Earth but they do have dressing rooms and had a present attendant to assist you in getting one. I found a cute sweater that when I tried it on, felt like was made for me so I opted to get it. Little did I know that meant joining and endless line that swerved into narrow rows that if you suddenly changed your mind, you'd be trapped in. Also, I hope you don't object to children and families because I definitely saw quite a few of them here though none bothered me and I actually felt reassured that home training and good family values still happen since the family in front of me behaved respectfully, the parents were attentive and they seemed like a functional family that cared about one another. Those rows are far from boring since you'll see all kinds of items there. I opted to include a hairbrush since I needed one and you probably can't have too many of them. The line did move, I got my items checked out and ended up on my way. I haven't usually found things here but if you have time and want something badly enough to brave the long line, you might just find something that fits the bill. read more

You need to definitely know that coming here on the weekends is mayhem. Always coming during the week between noon and 3pm or the am hours. I keep making the same mistake coming on the weekend. This place is super unorganized and it's only getting worse since the boom in people moving to the area. The line is always super love. I do give the people working here five starts because it isn't their fault customers don't put items back. There is a changing room here in case you want to make sure that nicely priced down dress you like looks good. I always appreciate the shoe section, they always have my size. The bedding area is where it gets tricky. You can find a nice bed in a bag but it's always a king size. It's rare for an nyc apartment to have a king size bed in it so I'm guessing that's why kings are always there. They literally have so many sizes here, there's home goods, pet stuff and electronics. It's pretty much like every other marshals you'd go to. Just remember about that line I mentioned earlier, it's a killer especially when there isn't a lot of people at the reregister. read more

Really tragic how terrible this location is. Why do I keep coming back? Because it's the closest Marshall's location within walking distance to me and for every 9 times I find nothing, there's that 10th time where I dig up something I love at an affordable price. That said, it is truly a dig in this Marshall's. I would avoid coming here during the weekends at all costs unless you're there when the doors open, it's a literal war zone. If you're coming here in hopes of having a successful shopping trip, you're going to need at least an hour to an hour and a half to comb through everything, try things on, and then wait in line to check out. The selection is inconsistent and you really never know what you will or won't find. I've been to this location probably hundreds of times over the past 10+ years, and I've never seen the check out line shorter than at least a 15 minute wait. During the holiday season, I've waited upwards of an hour. The cell phone service in here is also spotty, so if you're planning to kill time scrolling social media while you're waiting to check out, kiss those dreams goodbye. read more

Been shopping here for years and often at that. It's been getting worse over the years. Very disappointed in my last visit. Went to return something that had a tiny damage in the inside, not by me. This box was in perfect condition and I clearly didn't know it was slightly marked inside. When I tried to return the item, I was told they usually don't accepts returns like that. It doesn't make sense to have items on the sales floor which are opened or damaged and when someone accidentally buys something that they didn't think was used for it to be difficult to return. The makeup section always has open and used makeup as well. This locations customer service is no longer what it once was. read more

This particular location is very congested. The wait is usually for a Marshall's. When you go to these places you should know waiting to pay is a regular thing for these stores. I love me a good bargain will come again but definitely NOT on a Saturday afternoon. read more

I was waiting for 35min to return one dress and purchase hair clips and while waiting THREE people cut the line pretending to meet someone. The fourth cutter was t so lucky as the the woman behind me and I quickly had to tell her no way--she smiled and said please all I have is 1 item. While I appreciate her smile and effort I'm sorry but this is not how this works. You will need to ask the rest of the 55 people behind me. Much kudos to the staff here who are always in a good mood. I know Marshall's is very popular, and always busy. But, with that in mind, they need to staff accordingly.This is a very unpleasant location to shop in. It's always a Mac house. The line is very crazy. It always wraps around, and they don't have more than 3 cashiers. That's not fair to the customers or the staff. The organization and store layout is all over the place. Their selection of home goods is LACKING. The store is very messy. There's a lot of customers, snd I would imagine it's hard to maintain the floor. I would say the 2 stars is for the Pet Section and the cosmetics. The cosmetics section is large, and I'm use to seeing open packages in other Marshall's and TJMax. But, this location (surprisingly) had a good handle on that However, it makes no difference because I am not willing to wait online for 45 minutes read more

The lines are incredibly long and I genuinely don't understand why they do not have more cashiers. The minimum wait in the line is between 30-45 minutes. You simply cannot shop peacefully, pay for your stuff and just go home . Random staff members coming up to you and offering you 'tjx store card' like some scammy salesperson while you are on line or shopping. And if you somehow manage to avoid it there, when you get to the cashier, the pushing starts again to apply for the card. You will hear the 'it's free/ it has 10% discount / you get rewards' and so on and on and on. Even the people selling the cards cannot answer basic questions like what is the interest rate. They do not tell you it's a credit card - they dance around calling it a rewards card/ store card with rewards. It is beyond fishy . You would have to be a foreigner or an immigrant with no financial literacy to fall for this . Like, I don't understand why somebody would put their personal information like phone number and social security number in a retail store computer system to apply for this card? God knows what they are doing with these sensitive personal data in their systems ?? No. I don't want to apply. You would have to be stupid to apply to a credit card that is 32% APR. very very stupid. I would like to shop in peace , wait in a very short line and go home without getting scammed and bothered by this legitimately see through scam read more

This location has gone downhill FAST! I've been in once a week for the last month and each visit gets worse. The shelves are disorganized, there are broken items on display, and general disarray everywhere. Getting to a register on line takes a MINIMUM of thirty minutes and sometimes almost an hour. More than once I have wanted to just put things down and walk out, but once you're in that maze of a line it's like you're trapped. Last week I arrived at the register with a pair of pants that did not have a tag, but I had taken a photo of the tag of the same item in a different size. The cashier gave me a hard time until a manager came over and took over. Today I was called a liar by a different manager because I said they had sold me an open package of drink mix a couple of weeks ago. I was attempting to purchase another one today, but had asked for a discount because one of the packets of drink mix was missing. She said it's their policy not to sell open food packages, but they absolutely did before except in that case none of the packets was missing from the box so I didn't ask for a discount. So the cashier would have just rung it up again today and sold it to me if I hadn't asked for a discount and gotten a manager involved. I understand if that's their policy, but there was ZERO reason to call me a liar. Her attitude was beyond rude. I think it's going to be a VERY long time before I shop in this location again. And I have a feeling the lines are just going to get worse with the holidays coming up. read more

This store is the most crowded Marshalls that I have every been to. That is why the store is so messy and disorganized you really have to be patient to shop here. You would think that they were giving away free merchandise for the amount of people who shop here. I come in here very rarely because I hate shopping with crowds. People can just be outright rude and they really invade your space. When I do come in this store I am just looking around with no expectations at all. Sometimes I find items that I want to buy but I always have to really consider if I really need it or not because their check out lines are ridiculously long. Worst service ever, asked for the bathroom lock number and even the manager and the cashiers lied to say the toilet was clogged. Found another store clerk to input the number for the lock, there wasn't a problem with the toilet when I went inside. And the nerve of the cashiers to say you are disrespecting us by using it. I love Marshall's and TJ Maxx, but this store is ridiculous. They're well stocked, because no one wants to wait in line. I went in for pillows today- made my selection and was in line within 10 minutes. An hour and 45 minutes later I exited the store. Yup, over an hour and a half in line. On a Monday afternoon. There's 15 registers and only 3 open. The line extends to the back of the store. It's like this every time and every time I ask myself why I return. read more

The reasons are not as far fetched as one would think. If presentation were a grade, Marshall's scores pretty close to an F. Many areas of the store (especially during peak hours) are simply unkept and very unappealing to look at. It's kind of like visiting a restaurant where most of the tables are available, except each of them are littered with dirty dishes / haven't been cleaned. No one wants to sift through a pile of clothes, not even the one who is looking to save a few bucks. The staff could be to blame - what little staff there is. Simply put, there aren't enough associates around to keep the place from being ripped apart by the non-stop hordes of low budget shoppers. The employees that are here aren't in the friendliest of moods half the time because they have so much on their plate. It would be easy to cut em a break out of pity, but no one ever said working at a Marshall's was glamorous. Every holiday when there is an ugly sweater party I'm invited to, this Marshall's usually comes through. Beyond that, I've yet to walk out with a quality purchase and for that, I'm less likely to ever step back in here. read more

I have been to consignment shops in the sketchiest of neighborhoods that are better organized and offer finer quality than this Marshall's. The racks are constantly in disarray. The crowd always confuses me. And each time i come here I think, this is the day that it will be a good experience. Sorry to say, no. It makes my skin crawl. The chaos gives me anxiety and in the end I would rather go to the Old Navy not too far from here because at least that is organized. read more

5:45 PM - Enter store. 5:55 PM - Choose items for purchase. 7:00 PM - Exit store. How did I end up spending an hour and 15 minutes inside Marshall's when I was able to select my items within the first ten minutes? I'll tell you - THE LINES AT THIS STORE ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. No... they're beyond disgraceful. They're beyond any superlative. I can't swear on here, but choose any four letter word. Go ahead and do it. THAT describes the lines at this establishment. When I was there tonight, the line started at the front by the cash register, weaved around the designated miniature aisles in the front, then extended in the back past the Men's and Women's clothing sections, all the way into the furniture department AT THE OTHER END OF THE STORE. There had to be 200 customers in front of me in line. The worst part about it, though, is that the LINE NEVER MOVED. There were 12 cash registers lit up, but only 6 or 7 of them were staffed by cashiers. And the people working there were moving as slow as humanly possible. Note to management - There are a lot of really great deals at this store (as is evidenced by the fact that the lines are always long, and the place is always crowded). But do us all a favor, and please, PLEASE hire more cashiers to work during these busy periods. And for the ones that are working, light a fire under their can so they can move a little more quickly. Maybe make a competition that whoever checks out the most customers between 5 and 7 PM gets a free lunch. Or whoever has the fastest average checkout time gets an end of week bonus. So, I read all the horrendous reviews for this location but decided to see for myself. The store didn't stand out to me as particularly disorganized, dirty or crowded....because to be honest, I feel like a lot of Marshalls locations get that way on the weekends.. My biggest gripe was.....I didn't find anything I liked! This has almost never happened to me in a Marshall's before. Not only did I not find what I was looking for, I wasn't even seduced by anything...it's unheard of really. I'd say I'd give this place another shot, but I prefer the Marshall's location on 6th Avenue in Manhattan b/c there's a TJ Maxx right above it which doubles your chances of finding what you're looking for! read more

Okay, okay, okay... this Marshalls is crowded, somewhat unorganized, and occasionally dirty. But there are some really good deals here if you're willing to put in the time to find it. I recommend coming here if you have a specific item in mind. For example, I needed a dress for a party, so I looked only at dresses. It did not take too long to pick dresses and try them on. I find that this Marshalls has a bunch of great gift ideas in the housewares section in the back. Again, you must be patient, but you're bound to find something great for a housewarming or birthday gift: olive oil sets, stationary sets, picture frames, or sets of soap. But you'll certainly wait in line to check out about as long as you spent looking around the store in the first place. read more

Well it's my favorite store. Also, it a few blocks from my house . They carry the most wanted items because if you happen to come her on any day from 4:00-closing time good luck in line. In all Astoria, Ditmars, woodside, this is the only Marshall's. And it's the most loved store. The cashiers are friendly and polite. Mostly the cashiers are always available but still line?? Lol. The prices are great compared to the competitors. I gave 3 stars for - messy shoe department. Any time you want a shoe, the other is missing. I mean. A whole pair is a chance of luck especially in your size. Next, cleanliness, the overall store appearance is not very appealing. I do see the new manager is working towards it. I love Marshalls, however during the Christmas rush they seem to be lacking cashiers which makes for a miserable shopping experience. The line was the length of the store, front to all the way back! There were maybe 5-7 cashiers out of 13. I spoke to the woman standing behind the cashiers and mention maybe she should hop on the register. The line is way too long to not have a full staff during the holiday season. This is a growing issue amongst corporations, to yet again add to the piles of money they are already making. With minimal costs on production shipped outside of the US and still not using the money to hire adequate staff. Shame on this shit!! read more

Mom was shopping and I was sitting on the chair when this lady working who looked like she ain't sleep in months came to me with and attitude telling me the chair they have are not for sitting and for sale which I get but she had no courtesy what so ever, it was like telling me to gtfo, why do yall sell display stuff then and how are people supposed to buy if you can't check em? Then she proceeds to insult me by calling me uneducated when I asked her why she was being rude. My last trip there I swear the cashier was high, I would put money on it. She was so slow, and clearly dazed, no wonder it takes forever. Seek out another location if you can. Management really needs to do something about this or have more cashiers ringing. Ok, this has to be the busiest Marshall's in all of North America. It is absolutely insane how many people are shopping in this place at any given time. Where do all these people even come from? Seriously, don't even bother going after 4pm on a weekday unless you are prepared to spend at least 45 minutes in line. I'm not sure there is a time you can go without waiting in a long line. One of the cashiers told me people start lining up outside minutes before the store opens in the morning. Uhh I can't even blame the staff like I've read other yelpers doing. There's just always so many people, and they all seem to be buying a seasons worth of clothes for their entire family. I get anxiety just walking by that Marshall's. Unfortunately this is an extremely packed store. I went last week and waited over an hour on the line and it's not because they are short of cashiers but it's because there are that many people shopping. But they do have a lot more in stock compared to the TJ Maxx that opened in Astoria.
