This place seems a bit better organized than Ross, though the general layout of the place and items sold are strikingly similar to Ross. Bought myself a nice new pair of work shoes today, for under $20. Score. I'd say the prices are right in the ballpark of those at Ross, if not slightly higher. We also found some nice things for my nephew here, and found some nice Late July biscuits as well. Their customer service department could use some improvement though. I was looking around for someone in the shoes section but didn't see any employee there for quite some time, even after inquiring. The shoes I was interested to get had been labeled as "display" so I figured I should leave them on the shelf for someone else to look at. Unfortunately I could not find another such pair in the shoe shelves, but I finally flagged down an employee, who told me that even items marked as "Display" can be directly purchased. Nice surprise there :). Overall, decent place to shop, as long as you don't expect immediate customer service. This place mainly sells all kinds of clothing, but also has other home items like bedding, toys for children, shoes, and other miscellaneous items. I'd have a hard time choosing between here and Ross, but based on how horrendous the lines at Ross tend to be, I may find myself here more often in the future. read more

I come in for no reason and leave with at least 3 tiems. Usually shoes, a top and a belt or accessory of somekind. Yeah I'm cheap and I like a good deal so I am at Marshalls when I want to shop and know that going to the mall will just disappoint me because I won't see my money go as far. Use their bathroom at your own risk! It is always in need of a clean-up. I know, because I have been shopping here for a decade. Some of the clerks are rude (not acknowledging customers, giving icy stares, trying to force customers to sign up for a credit card, etc.). Today, I could only find one thing I wanted to buy - a pair of Skechers slip on sneakers for $17.99. I looked through the whole store, and this was all I could find that I wanted. The merchandise was extremely picked over. The clothing was not organized. The bra section was a disaster - looking for bras by size was difficult, because the sizes were all mixed together. Anyway, this clerk at the front register apparently could not handle that I was buying one item, and gave me attitude. He asked me twice if I was sure I didn't want to buy anything else. Then, seeing the $20 bill in my hand, he asked me if I wanted to apply for a store credit card. I said I was not interested. Then he asked if I shopped at TJ Maxx, saying I could use the credit card at both stores. I again politely said I was not interested. He looked really disappointed, like I ruined his day, and reluctantly took the $20. After he handed me my change and purchase, he sternly told me that I needed to shop here more often so that getting a store credit card would be worth my while. Wow! This sort of interaction is precisely why I take a break from brick and mortar stores from time to time and shop on the internet. They do have a good selection of athletic shoes and cell phone accessories. Parking can be crazy - the lot is shared with Safeway, Panda Express, and bunch of other businesses. read more

I love shopping here. It's hard for me to come here and not walk out with something that I didn't know I needed. Sometimes it feels like a treasure hunt and that's part of the fun - just going through disorganized racks and shelves. Some of my favorite pieces and the clothes I wear most often have come from this very Marshalls location. Sometimes it's some name brand and sometimes it's some brand I've never heard of, but I don't really care - if I like it and it fits right and the price is right, I buy it. The price tags make it seem like you may be getting a really good deal but who knows. Sometimes the original price tag is on the clothing and it doesn't match with the Marshalls comparison price so I think it's kind of random. I've also heard that some of the products they sell are designed specifically for Marshalls and TJ Maxe stores and didn't come from department stores or the original stores. The juniors dept is called the Cube and has some cute trendy things - I've found some cute dresses here. Shoe dept has lots of boots in the fall/winter, sandals, and dress shoes. Bag department has a wide assortment of purses. Home goods has cute mugs, dishware, cookware (even Le Creuset!), journals, bedding, decor, and more. It's fun to just look around. The bath and body section is also fun with all kinds of fancy looking soaps and lotions. I've even found Shisheido products here! In terms of customer service, I've never needed anything from the employees. What's out is already out. Things are organized by size and if you can't find a size it's probably misplaced somewhere or that's the only one. If the price tag is missing, I find something the same item or something similar and bring it to the register to the register. The people at the fitting rooms are always really polite. The only thing is that the cashiers always ask if you want to open a credit card with them which can get annoying but they're just doing their job. read more

First thing I want to say, which really has nothing to do with the review is how much I hate how different brands of clothing have different versions on their sizes. RAWR!!!! MAKES ME ANGRY. On with the review. It's definitely true that Marshalls can have some great finds and they're always hard to find. Maybe I'm just a picky person, but shopping is a difficult sport for me. It's always nice to find a deal, but it always sucks knowing you probably don't like those nice deals. Mostly my fault for getting a nasty sunburn from the chest and upward, I couldn't find a dress to cover the redness. The dressing room attendant was a nice, quiet lady who seemed kind of shy. Good selection on name brand tops, good selection on shoes for the most part, and a good selection on accessories. Excluding the dresses and shoes however, I can typically find cute tops and accessories over at a local Target while getting my other shopping done. If you're into searching for cheap deals on name brands, this Marshall's is a good bet. read more

I enjoy Marshalls mainly for its budget items, which is of course its main draw. I have found much success with socks here as I really got some awesome Puma socks! They have a great men's clothing selection as far as budget stores go, and they have a particularly good choice of jackets (seasonally of course). They have a good amount of electronics, and home furnishings, and I always find good stuff here. This is a great place to start shopping before you search at more expensive shops. read more

I love shopping at marshalls but there is a real problem with the check out. Every time (and I go at least one every every two weeks) there's an enormous line at the checkout. The most cashiers I've seen at one time is 3. Meanwhile, there about 5-7 other employees milling around the store floor. I get to hear several people in line yelling at the clerks for more cashiers while I'm waiting. It's frustrating and ruins my shopping "high" every time ! I don't go to this one very often because it's out of the way. I usually stick to the one at the Great Mall. However, one day I was standing in the returns line at the Marshall's Great Mall and I saw this women in front of me wearing these amazing boots with an adorable button. She told me she got it at this very location. I hauled ass in search of these boots. When I got here, I was pretty awestruck by the spaciousness and that I had my pick of the many genuine leather Italian boots they had on hand. Nice and spacious store. I've usually been able to find what I want at a great price. Don't even bother going to the department stores anymore since I know it'll be at a discount here. I've also gotten into the habit of buying my puppy's treats, toys and accessories from here before I head over to Pet Food Express next door! The prices are just unbeatable in that sense. Selection is usually pretty good here. Great pet items. Kitchen ware can be lacking sometimes, but usually well stocked. Women's clothing is always full. I'm always a huge fan of TJ Maxx and Marshalls (TJX co.) department stores; their selection of designer jeans is amazing! You really can't get these jeans any cheaper. I've picked up 7 for All Mankind jeans for just $20! On a different day, I got some Joe's denim for only $18, and C&C Jeans for only $20! These pairs of jeans are normally priced over $170 each. What a deal :) I am extremely happy with my finds, and I wear my jeans every day. I am very surprised that I constantly find such great deals on jeans that are in my size and in the clearance section. Marshall's and TJ Maxx really do provide THE BEST deals for all their items in stock. If you can find it for cheaper elsewhere, they used to give it to you at the cheaper price; not sure if they do that anymore. Also, Marshall's will generally accept TJ Maxx coupons and vice-versa, because they are the same company. Some other great finds: I picked up some American Eagle Outfitters shirts for $4 each, and a juicy couture swimsuit for $40. Marshall's is the perfect place to go when you're in the mood for treasure hunting, and I guarantee you that you will be walking away with a smile on your face and something fabulous in your bag. I shopped at this Marshall on Stevens Creek Blvd in San Jose for almost 25 years and never had I had such a negative experience until today. One of the cashier Mauricio was very rude to me. Instead of a greeting "hi" he said "go ahead" I was confused not sure what he meant. He kept saying "go ahead" finally I got he meant for me to come up. I said " Hi, I need to return a few things" and he mumbles something in Spanish and rolled his eyes. In the end he shoved the receipt into my hand and said "here you go". Very rude cashier. this location was better-stocked than i expected. we came in for guys casual clothes, and they had a pretty decent selection, bigger than ross and tj maxx. we were also looking for mens underwear. they have a ton of tighty whiteys in boxes, most of em were pretty cheap and skeezy looking, like one colorful brand called "papi". mercy. not very many pairs in black. we were wondering why we couldn't find boxers, and then were about to leave, when we saw that they have all of their boxers sold individually, they are hung up on racks, lots of brand names, mostly 5-8$ each. not a lot of them seemed to be in comfortable fabric, so we moved on. like ross and tj maxx, they also have a bunch of overpriced "gourmet" candy that's probably expired. read more

Good store setup..better than TJ Maxx or Ross. The only thing is when I went in today there was a terrible smell of urine that hit me like a ton of bricks. They had doors open and fans running so who knows what happened in there. I like how they keep the place tidy, like in the shoe dept. you don't find shoes lying all over the floor. read more

I love shopping for the brand name clothing here, that you would not normally find at Ross. Compared to Ross, things are much more organized and cleaner at Marshalls. The associate at the check out are the rudest and most disrespectful to customers. They refused to take back merchandise from another Marshall's store. They had the audacity to talk very poorly to me even though i had a legitimate receipt. The Indian lady had a very bad attitude and argued back to me for no fault of mine. Corporate or HR needs to intervene and retrain these people and teach them some respect and manners. Very mismanaged store. I usually go to the Marshalls on Grant Road as it is a closer location. But, on a rabid search for interview heels and already at Loehman's, I utilized my GPS to head to the closest Marshalls. First of all, this location is pretty large. I am not sure whether it is larger than the Grant Road Marshalls, but they fit a pretty decent number of items in the store. As I walk in, I first head over to the general shoe section and proceed to try on every pair of size 8.5/9.5 designer heels that look comfortable. Having limited success, I continue on to the next section of the store on a shopping mission. Now, while I am supposed to be looking for shoes, I always browse through these stores hoping to find the one perfect item that is marked at such an unbelievably low price that I have to do a double take. And today I found it!!! Nine West heels for $5 + BCBG heels for $6=a grand total of $11.46. Wowza. I was extremely proud of this find. These shoes were on a shoe clearance table at the rear of the store. I am not sure why they separated their shoes because there were also clearance shoes at the front of the store. But, considering there were about ten different price tags on these shoes, they must have been marked down substantially. While these shoes were enough for the trip to be considered worthwhile, I really wanted to find some more inexpensive Free People, but this Marshalls didn't have any. I did try on a couple of workout tops, a junior's dress, and a shirt, but I wasn't excited about anything. Wow.. worse Marshall's ever. Went here to return a pair of Calvin Klein sleep shorts that I bought for $9.99. The older Asian cashier was suspicious of my return so she went to ask the curly haired girl (I'm guessing she's a manager?) about it. They go look on the floor to find the same item that I bought but couldn't so they accused me of returning an item that came in a set. Like really? A Calvin Klein set for $10? Keep in mind the shorts are a very nice and thick material. Also, they brought up a set of ugly thinner Calvin Klein sleep shorts and those were already $19.99. Just ridiculous. read more

I went here looking for a tie and a belt for my job interview. The selection was a-ok. There was only 1 rack for the belts and ties but I found a brown/black belt that was reversible and this yellow tie. This was my new power tie and I believe the tie got me my job! This Marshalls is not the best Marshalls but I did find what I needed. I came here looking for a belt and tie and I got it. If you focus and only get what you need and not want you will be satisfied with what you buy from here. Do not get any junk you do not need, this is what makes you give lower reviews. Junk! Store is very unorganized. Cashiers are clueless, pooooooor customer service. They tried hard to get me to open their credit card. I like this place because it never gets too crowded and not as messy or disorganized as the SF branch. They have great discounts on brand-name shoes and if I have time to scour the racks, I always find cute tops and dresses. My last purchase was a bargain: a Tahari suit for $70 in a 2petite - I can never find this size anywhere! Plus their edible section has great preserves and baking mixes. Found some good Thanksgiving decorations for a very good price. Also discovered that you can find paperback books there for significantly less than cover price. Seems like a hassle to buy clothes there because the racks are kind of a mess, but I like the housewares section -- it's sort of fun to wander through and discover all those things that you forgot that you needed. This Marshalls is fairly clean for a discount store and offers a decent selection. The display, however, is not very organized (misplaced items, missing price tags, and whatnot). I rarely find anything good, but my wife claims that great bargains do exist here. You just need the time and patience to sort through the stuff. read more
