I've had Martha on the Fly (a diner in the Tremont neighborhood in Cleveland) on my want-to-visit list for about a century now and jumped at the chance to order my birthday lunch from there as my boyfriend had a $25 coupon that was about to expire on a food delivery app. I'll spare you the details on the cost of food on a delivery app, and focus on the actual things Martha on the Fly could control. So for a grand total of $24.90, I got the Doris sandwich (a breakfast pork burger and egg sandwich) with added pickles and mixed greens, as well as an order of their famous cornmeal fries and a side of sunshine sauce. Everything was packaged fabulously in their iconic retro-diner style packaging and was still hot upon arrival. The buttery brioche bun was without a doubt, some of the best bread I've had in a while. I am marking my score down a mere half point as I wasn't huge on the signature egg and I would have liked an opportunity to opt for "light" sauce vs a standard amount of sauce on the food ordering app. The entire sandwich is gigantic and is definitely a diet killer. The cornmeal fries, which includes about 7 huge and filling fries, were so good! Definitely a must-order here. I ate a couple now and am saving the rest for later. I wish I could have dined in at Martha on the Fly. The interior looks adorable and has great vibes but I am happy I finally got to try their food! read more

So Good! Martha on the Fly did NOT disappoint! I got the Betty and it was BOMB. The egg on the sandwich was honestly the star of the show it was so good! Everyone was super nice and welcoming, and our food came out really quickly, probably within 10-15 minutes. I love when a place has great food and great service! I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu. If you're in the Tremont area, definitely check them out! read more

Love! Walk up counter, the guy working was knowledgeable and a sales guy fa sho. We took our breakfast to the beach and it was still perfect when we got there! The corn meal fries omggggg they are truly like nothing I've ever had before. Get some and maybe get them with the sunshine sauce. Probably made with mustard and with maple syrup. I got the pearl breakfast sandwich, cute name with the mushroom patty. I loved the bread and the melty cheese. Overall and this is only personal, I ended up not caring for the mushroom sausage patty. I don't eat pork and that was the only other option and I'm glad I tried it. I got my daughter a small carton of orange juice, she loved that. Pretty good, could've been great with a few tweaks. Got the breakfast sandwich and the corn meal fries. Firstly, the corn meal fries were super unique with an amazing texture. I really enjoyed these but you have to eat them immediately because they get cold fast. It was pertly perfect with maple syrup. As for the sandwich I ordered it with sausage and apple jam as I love a sweet and savory flavor profile. The first few bites were great but then it became overly salty. I think the sausage was very salty but my friends that had a mushroom patty said it was salty as well. If the salt levels were adjusted I think this sandwich would be really amazing, especially because the bread is so great. Not much seating inside but there are a few random tables nearby. Very delicious start to the day! Ordered online right before they opened and had our food by 9:20. Super tiny spot but they were speedy with making our order and it's super cute. I had the sausage sandwich and added tomato jam, and my bf got the sandwich with baloney and onions. It was my first time and I loved my sandwich, portions are HUMONGOUS, I was really hungry and only ate half. Sausage was flavorful, plenty of cheese, really good bread and the egg patty is really tasty and good texture. My bf enjoyed his but said he likes the sausage sandwich better, he'd been before. We both agreed the tomato jam was a bit too sweet and we'd have liked a little less of it, but yummy still! The cornmeal fries are the star of the show. It was our first time in and we enjoyed the funky, fun atmosphere. Just 4 stools at the breakfast bar and a couple of two seater tables out front so most of their business is carryout and they were busy! The server was friendly and helpful - she really knew the products. A must try on a beautiful day outside. I love the idea of this place, I just wish they had more seating. I can't imagine eating here in the dead of winter and not living in the area. I'd hate to have to drive home before eating and the food not being as fresh. The service was great and we didn't have to wait too long to get our food. About 15-20 minutes. The portions are massive and I like that everything is homemade. People rave about their cornmeal fries but as a person with texture issues I wasn't a fan of the mushy inside. If these pictures look sparse, it's because the food they contained was almost immediately demolished. We got the Jane (a classic breakfast sandwich with an egg patty), and a custom sandwich with the mushroom sausage patty, tomato jam, and caramelized onions. The buns were perfectly light and fluffy, and I highly recommend adding tomato jam to whatever you get. I also tried cornmeal fries for the first time, and thought they were great: soft on the inside with a filling most comparable to grits, and crispy on the outside. The space is indeed small (but very cutely decorated) with four seats inside and some limited outdoor seating. They text you when your order is ready and you just come pick it up. We lucked into the spots inside, and I have to shout out the service--the staff made me feel like I was at a sit down restaurant with their attentiveness. We were driving through on a road trip. We had planned to stop in Cleveland as it was a halfway point. The cornmeal fries are creamy yet crispy. Staff was very friendly and helpful with us making a decision on our order and gave us coffee shop recommendations as well. I got the betty this time and added sausage and caramelized onions. It was so good! The cornmeal fries with sauce were good too. I dont think it's cheap, but Its worth it to me. When we got there we did not realize the building was so small, but we got lucky and were able to sit at two of the barstools at the counter. The server immediately recognized we were new and offered her help with the menu. I got the Betty, that's basically just egg and bacon. The sandwich was HUGE and the brioche bun it comes on is made in house. The egg patty itself was super thick and the bacon had great flavor. I wasn't a major fan of the sunshine sauce it comes with, but my partner loved it. I would compare it to a butter or aioli. The star of the show, for us, was the fries. They're a mix of grits and cornmeal and fried into logs. I have been thinking about them for 3 weeks now. Seriously, make sure to he them. I'm not quite sure how to properly word how good this place is. We were in town for work for 7 days and this is where I got breakfast 3 of the days because we loved it so much! The cornmeal fries were something different, but good! Very crispy, and the sauce is great. Definitely a different texture, but in a good way. I got the Doris add bacon each time and it was delicious. The signature square egg is perfectly fluffy, the sausage was good, and the bacon is super thick and delicious. The bun was fluffy and soft as well. The sandwich was so filling as well. I also got a cinnamon roll once to try and it was good! The icing has lemon in it, so if you don't like lemon then it isn't for you. It was a good size/ not huge but not small. We also got a slice of the chocolate peanut butter pie to have one night for dinner and it was so good! Didn't get a picture because I forgot. Wow, I'm so excited we tried Martha's!! My husband and I were staying at an AirBnb nearby and decided to walk down to Martha's for some breakfast. What a great decision! The inside is really small, but don't let that dissuade you. The counter is manned by a staff of some of the most friendly people I've ever met! The menu consists of a set of absolutely delicious breakfast sandwiches, complemented by hand brown disks and other small bites. We ordered the "Doris" (pork smash party with egg and cheese) and the "Agnes" (shaved steak with egg and cheese). I opted to add the caramelized onions and avocado to my Agnes and it was insanely good! The inside of the tiny restaurant does have a counter to eat at and is impeccably clean and well kept and very cute. I highly recommend stopping by! I initially went in for one of their egg sandwiches, but they had a breakfast burrito special on the menu, so I decided to try it out. All the components were really tasty. The meat was juicy and flavorful and the breakfast potatoes on the inside were cooked crispy outside, soft inside. Love this cute little space and the indulgent breakfast fare that they offer! Inside has four bar-counter style seats and outdoors there are a couple of small tables (and some larger picnic bench style seating on the nearby street corner). Most folks simply took their meals to-go, but we sat inside to experience the hustle-n-bustle vibe of the place. Given it was our first time here, we went a bit overboard with the food ordering...next time we may just get a singular sandwich and a potato side and split them both as the portions are gigantic and filling. For this maiden voyage, we ordered two breakfast sandwiches (the Betty and the Pearl) along with a potato crispie, a cinnamon roll and two regular drip coffees. All items are made-to-order, so there was a bit of a wait for the food to be ready. Coffees were poured and delivered, then all the food items arrived at once. We rolled up our sleeves and dug in! The potato crispie was like a giant hash brown patty served with their signature sunshine sauce (like a mild hollandaise)...would have preferred a bit more seasoning on the patty. The Betty breakfast sandwich was served on a bun with thick-cut bacon, a fried egg, melted American cheese and sunshine sauce. It was gooey, messy and delicious! The Pearl sandwich was even better, served with a mushroom "sausage" patty, egg patty and avocado spread. Between the mushrooms and the avocado it had a wonderfully creamy texture and flavor. Their cinnamon roll had a unique icing flavored with orange and vanilla, but was served cold (definitely needs to be warmed up). If you are near downtown and in need of a filling meal in a seriously chill vibe (either to eat in or takeaway) then this is the spot for you. The eggs are made in such a way it's like biting into a custard cake with out all that sugary dessert taste. It's real egg flavor. The buns are soft and tasty. It had hints of orange flavor. The icing was cream cheese flavor and just kinda wasn't my jam. The Pearl sandwich had a fat square egg patty, plenty of avocado, a mushroom patty, and cheese in addition to a strange citrus sort of tart sauce somewhere I could not identify. It was maybe the sunshine sauce? It was unusual and I did not want the citrus sort of bittersweet zing in the sandwich that was otherwise good. Shoulda just put mayo on there in my opinion.
