I also bought their homemade hot sauce and jam which was great. My wife got the shipwreak which had lots of food but was too greasy. Also the fresh fruit that came with it was only half a strawberry, 1/4 orange, and a tiny slice of pineapple. More like a garnish. Also the price was a little steep. We both enjoyed our meals at Lucky's Cafe. I had the Reuben and my husband had the biscuits and gravy. The savory biscuits were stated on the meal that it was on the Food Network and I can see why. The Reuben sandwich is delicious with the homemade thousand island sauce but the potatoes weren't cooked fully. It could be because they were rushing to make my meal. I will say the service is extremely busy. Our waitress did get the wrong plate served to us so I had to wait for my Reuben. She did apologize. The ambiance is very crowded so be prepared to wait. The "canoe wreck" was a conglomeration of tofu bits, onion, large potato chunks, and some sort of curry or otherwise Indian inspired thin sauce. It was truly a pile of food. Can't say I appreciated it due to the lack of actual tofu chunks and how it all glommed together into a mildly spicy curry type mix. Not appealing to me. Came here on a Saturday morning. Ordered the waffles and the shipwreck. Also ordered the Lucky's signature latte which was very big and sort of sweet. The portion sizes were nice and very filling. I would say the toast is a little bit on the oily side. The jam used on the waffles were also pretty sweet. Overall, I would come back here again probably one of the better brunches I've had. I'm sorry to report that Lucky's is ABSOLUTELY worth the hype! We went on a rainy day, so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The service was fast and the workers were friendly. The food was phenomenal. I got the waffles and they were cooked very well. Light, fluffy, the homemade whipped cream was so good, and the strawberry rhubarb topping was to die for. We walked in at 11:40am on a Sunday and were told about 35 minute wait. (We gave our number and they called when our table was ready.) There didn't seem to be a waiting area inside so we walked around the neighborhood a bit. We were pleasantly surprised when only 11 minutes later we were called to be seated! From being seated at 11:52am... our food didn't get delivered until 1pm (not a typo). Our server was lousy. We asked for water 3x and never got it. We ended up walking to our car and bringing in our water bottles. He did acknowledge us eventually and took our drink orders. We were told that he'd take the drink order then the food a little later. When he took food orders, he didn't write them down. He had to come back to our table several minutes later to confirm our order before ringing it up. We saw him return to other tables to ask them to repeat their orders, too. We watched another table in his section repeatedly ask for water. We saw a table change their mind after waiting so long before being acknowledged. We watched him interact with a table (who had been warned of how slow he worked) tell him that she wanted to order both her drinks and food all at once. He flat out told her NO. So she just ordered food. It was a very frustrating environment to be in, as we saw other tables getting much better/quicker service from other servers and watched him not seem to care. We told ourselves that we would leave if we didn't get our food by a certain time. Then I convinced my husband to wait 5 more minutes. At 1pm it finally came out. (The potatoes weren't cooked as requested, but there was no way we were waiting any longer, and we received an item we hadn't ordered and sent back. Perhaps if our order was written down, this could have been avoided.) The bacon was delicious. We both enjoyed our food (was it really good or were we just starving, idk). The menu items were unique and sounded great. I probably wouldn't opt to revisit Lucky's (based on this experience). read more

I absolutely love Lucky's cafe for breakfast. Located in the heart of Tremont this quaint restaurant is a true gem. My friends and I went for a girls brunch on an early Sunday morning. We arrived within 5 minutes of them opening and we were able to walk right in and be seated immediately. Parking was available on the street but the spots get taken fast so prepare to walk if you have to. All the staff were so welcoming and attentive. Our waitress was so sweet and took great care of us. The food is so fresh and delicately crafted. I ordered the smothered cheddar biscuits from tv lol they were truly a star of the menu to me! A must try for sure. I also had a fresh cinnamon roll and that was tasty too. I will be back more often to try more menu items in the future. I rate this place a 9.5/10! read more

I don't usually go for sweets at brunch, but I tried the waffle and it was absolutely amazing--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of flavor. I thought I ordered hash browns, but they turned out to be more like oven-roasted potatoes--and honestly, I wasn't even mad because they were still incredible. Un"Lucky"'s Never again. Was super excited to go this award winning family owned Gem in Cleveland only to have a terrible experience. We waited an hour which is totally understandable. From the time we ordered our food till the time we received our food it took 1 hour and 19 minutes. No joke. Kids were restless and hungry...Asked for Syrup and guy said that's an extra $4.50 and had to get manager approval. My son's waffle was cold by the time syrup finally came. Tried to order my eggs well done, no they only do it one way. Was waiting in line for the bathroom and server with attitude told me I was blocking the aisle which I wasn't. I dunno, everyone had an attitude and no one acted like they cared about our happiness. Will never dine here again. I'm sure there are a ton of better options out there! read more

I was impressed with this place! The biscuits entree was amazing: there was a great texture contrast between the crunchy cheddar biscuits and the smooth and rich sausage gravy. The potatoes were not hash browns as advertised (they were diced potatoes), but at least they were crunchy! I tried my brother's eggs en croute (eggs baked in cream, spinach, and Parmesan) which was so rich and delicious - but it was a misnomer. En croute means it's wrapped in dough and baked. I think they possibly meant eggs en cocette (baked eggs in pots). This comes alongside the brûléed oatmeal, which was fancy and also delicious! I also tried some of the toast with blueberry jam. It had a great crunch and texture, and the blueberry jam was just the right amount of sweetness. Food was slow to come out (45+ min) and there was not a ton of seating room inside, but worth the wait. Not a huge menu to choose from, but I'd eat those biscuits again in a heartbeat! read more

Went here for Saturday brunch with some friends and they do not take reservations so we had to wait ~ 1 hour. It was definitely worth it! I had the biscuits featured on Food Network and it was super creamy and filling, without it feeling very greasy. It comes with cheddar scallion biscuits, scrambled eggs, and sausage gravy. Eggs were spot on, the pecan bacon was delicious and the sausage patties were amazing. Some in our group got the biscuits and gave rave reviews. Waffles a hit! The coffee was really really good too! Now, the service. Our waitress did not check on us. Gave me an undressed salad and I had to wave another waitstaff down to get me some dressing. It's famous for being featured on the food network on several different shows so we were excited to try it. Most of his recommendations were spot on. We started with the cinnamon rolls. That was my least favorite food item. It was just "ok". The icing was sparse and dry. But the roll was yummy. The candied bacon was also highly recommended. That was also just "ok". I felt there was almost too much brown sugar topping. Probably wouldn't order it again. For breakfast, I ordered the BISCUITS, which was the breakfast item featured on all the Food Channel's shows. It was really delicious, best thing I ate in Cleveland. I am a huge biscuits and gravy fan, but this was a great version of it. My buddy ordered the WAFFLES. Those were amazing too. I normally don't write negative reviews, but this is one restaurant that I will never go to again. It is cute inside, however that does not make up for the poor service and sub par food. We did not have to wait to get a table, however it took a bit for the waitress to serve us. Once approached, she offered to get us cinnamon rolls, which we never got but ended up on our bill. My friend got a very watered down latte which she put to the side in hopes to get a different drink, but no one ever came to ask us how we were doing or if we would like anything else. We were just handed an incorrect bill at the end of our meal and they quickly ran away. We got the biscuits and granola to share. I thought the biscuits were bland but the granola was okay. First time to Cleveland area and to Lucky's Cafe. I saw many reviews and posts that recommended this spot. Plus a kind woman that I sat by on the flight also recommended it. It's located in a neighborhood on a one way street. No dedicated parking lot, only street parking. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. In addition to their menu, they also offer fresh baked goods, coffee and a variety of merchandise and gift options. This place is decorated so cute! So many interesting and cool details. We had a pumpkin spice latte ($5.25) and fireside s'more mocha ($6.50). Hands down the BEST cup of coffee I had my entire time in Cleveland! You gotta go by there and get one. You will not be disappointed. Our service was excellent and the staff are great. We had the Biscuits ($17.75). This plate was full of delicious flavors! Very nice portion and can be shared so you can try more than one option. I loved the T-shirts with their logo so much that I bought 2 of them. They are $18, super soft and high quality. We stopped at Lucky's Cafe to get some brunch over the weekend, and I really enjoyed my experience. They were crowded, but we got seated within 10-15 minutes. Due to the volume of patrons service was a little slow, but that's to be expected. Our server was so sweet, I believe her name was Nola, but I am not sure. The restaurant itself is nice and quaint with outside patio seating as well. The inside feels like a cozy coffee shop that just adds to the experience. I ordered the Honey Lavender Chai Latte with oat milk, the Waffles, and a side of scrambled eggs. My partner had the Biscuits entree and a Chai Latte. Their chai lattes are absolutely delicious! I will say that mine was sweeter due to the lavender syrup, but still great. My waffles were a great treat as well. I loved the lemon curd and the blueberry compote as they offset the sweetness of the dish. My partner enjoyed the biscuits entree. I personally would prefer if the eggs were not covered with the gravy in addition to the biscuit. The servers were all friendly and it was the cutest spot with a very "homey" feel to it. The restaurant is located in a small renovated home with an adorable outdoor area. I started with their seasonal honeydew matcha latte which was awesome! After reading some reviews on Yelp, we decided to go with the must have biscuits, pecan bacon, and famous Reuben. Everything came in huge portions for the price and ridiculously delicious. Their famous pecan bacon was to die for and both the biscuit/Reuben were must haves. Each bite was a burst of flavor and overall super enjoyable. Would definitely recommend Lucky's if you're in the Cleveland area, you'll get plenty of bang for your buck and an incredible meal! I was super excited to try this restaurant because of the many years worth of good reviews but I'm never going back sad to say. The experience was disappointing. They served me undercooked bacon, refused to take it back and cook it properly and, instead, placed it in a to-go box and charged me for it. I am giving two stars purely based on the biscuits and gravy which were delicious. However, the situation devolved quickly from there. The service was friendly at first, but slow because it was very busy. I went by myself first thing in the morning on a Sunday. There was a mix of people there, some of whom came based on the word of mouth and some of whom were regulars. The ambience was boisterous inside but reasonable conversational level, not sure how it was outside. I ordered the vegan soup, the famous pecan bacon, their biscuits and gravy that were featured on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, and a Reuben featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The vegan soup never came, and when I asked to have it removed from my bill, I was shot an evil look, no apology. I took one bite of the bacon and, as you can see in the picture, it was flabby, chewy and undercooked. I spit it out in my napkin. When I asked to send it back, they said, "Well, since you already bit into it we can't take it back." Huh? They not only didn't apologize, they refused to take it back and cook it properly. The woman then said it's cooked in an oven and if I wanted it crispy, I have to tell them I want crispy bacon in advance. Could the server have shared that with me when I was ordering? I said OK, just take it off my check then. She goes, "The manager will not let you return it." Instead of cooking it correctly, the woman actually took the bacon, put it in a to-go box and brought me the check. It was as if they were saying, "Hey, you're not the first person who has complained we undercook the bacon and we have a plan in place for people like you." I've been dining and working in restaurants, all my life, and I've never, ever been told that someone wouldn't refire an order that was undercooked. When I got home, I tried the Reuben and potato salad. The bread was crispy, the corned beef sliced thick and meaty but there were only two slices of corned beef on the sandwich. Clearly, it's not the sandwich Guy recommended. My advice to people ordering (which I will follow from now on): always ask for well done or crispy bacon. Consuming undercooked bacon can be dangerous and it can cause problems like salmonella or tapeworms. Google "Florida bacon tapeworms" for a recent example if you're curious. I'm sure the bacon they serve is high-quality but when I ask for bacon, I personally want it to be cooked through and not flabby. From a place that has so much popularity and so many people waiting, why is this the experience that they would want any customer to have and be vehemently unapologetic about? I don't like posting a negative review, but you earned it. If you like slightly undercooked bacon and service that says "the customer is always wrong", Lucky's is your spot and you should enjoy it.
