Not to mention there were soft and warm on the inside with an incredible crust on the outside. To put it plainly, you're not going to need condiments. The French toast was good. Cooked the old school way. Solid! The turkey sausage was kielbasa and it was good. Not sure what brand they used but it was very flavorful and delicious. They also had the interior decorated for Valentine's Day which was a bonus. I'll definitely be bringing my husband back with me. Stopped in here for brunch on the way through Cleveland one Saturday morning. The atmosphere is very cheerful and the staff is super friendly! Also the prices are almost unbelievably low - many breakfast plates are under $10, which is almost unheard of today. The food was fine but a bit bare-bones. I was very excited for my fried green tomatoes, but there was a lot of fried and not very much tomato (it was honestly hard to see it). My wife and I both had some breakfast meat and our sausage/bacon portions were also pretty small. Pancakes were nice and fluffy but very plain tasting. You get the picture - nothing wrong with the food here per se, but not all that exciting either. read more

Was in Cleveland to go see the museum. Was staying in Midtown. Looking for breakfast, this place got good reviews. Fluffy pancakes caught my eye online. Service was good enough. Wasn't busy. Got pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. They were out of ham. Coffee was warm and blah. Pancakes were flat and thin, far from fluffy. Pretty underwhelming. This was my first time getting breakfast from here, and I got take out, so I can't vouch for the whole menu or the service (though I was greeted with a friendly hello, and the lady who gave me my order and took payment was very pleasant), but, GET THE FISH AND GRITS. The fish was seasoned perfectly and was nice and crispy even though I was late picking up my order and had to drive to my office before I ate. We found this little place online while searching for places to get breakfast close by to where we were staying and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and figured we'd give it a try. The food is amazing! I ordered home fries with onions and peppers, salmon patties and scrambled eggs. I had zero complaints with the food. I highly recommend those salmon patties! My son is type 1 diabetic and although diet soft drinks were not available, they were very helpful and accommodating in getting him some sugar free syrup for his pancakes without me even asking if they had any. Definitely an interesting experience. The culture is very different from what I'm use to, but I felt the family vibes that was there. The place had open sitting either at booths, tables or the bar table. I'm a booth person! Service was pretty standard; nothing remarkable. We weren't sure about parking so settled for street parking instead. Which turned out perfectly since the food was filling, so that 1-2 minute walk was good for us! Home fries were unexpectedly greasy for me, but of course I ate everything on my plate! Sausages are homemade, they were tough to chew for me and a bit dry. Eggs and toast were perfect. My friend had the pancakes (which is made from Annie's original recipe) and I was glad he shared because those definitely did not taste like "out-of-the-box" pancakes. They had some sweetness to them aside from the syrup. Overall, I am glad to have stopped in at this breakfast spot, but probably will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Pancakes. Get them. I'm not even a pancake person. I don't ever order them- keep my breakfast savory, please. Not here! The pancakes are incredible. I had so many crispy edges- daaaang. Also, the syrup is NOT watery stuff. Nope! Full flavah. My eggs were delicious as well! Much better than most diners. Sausage patties are scrumptious. The price is also right- $6 gets you a huge meal and coffee. Service is wonderful- we got tons of coffee refills and everyone is really friendly. Only cons? Stopped in here on our way home to Toronto on a Wednesday morning. This is a down home greasy spoon that does breakfast right. We were kindly greeted by the staff and seated ourselves. We had hot coffees ready as we checked out the menu. My wife opted for the fried green tomato breakfast and I had the pancake breakfast. The meals came with eggs (we took them scrambled) and bacon or sausage. The eggs were amazing cooked just right not under done or over done. My wife's tomatoes were great, better than we had a fancy spot in Louisville. The pancakes were amazing. 3 fluffy made from scratch pancakes that were golden brown. Try these. The sausage was also surprisingly good. Not sure if they were homemade or not. The best part the meal came in under $15! When i get a hold of a place that gives me the pancakes i need when I need them I take notice. Their pancakes are more than amazing. Something beyond your regular standard pancake. Place is cozy. Service is friendly and great. Price is nice. For me though it all came down to those pancakes. These pancakes may bring world peace to these troubling times. After being told no official estimate time I headed back to my car... After waiting 30/40 min I went back in only to be told another 10min wait... after waiting 25min after being told 10min the waitress then comes back and asks me what did I order in the midst of saying "I'm so sorry" what seemed to be 2000 times somehow she managed to tell me that she doesn't know if my ticket has even been prepared or how long it will even be before my food is done... We had a long layover in Cleveland and drove from the airport to eat here! It was well worth it. Annette our waitress was friendly, had us laughing and was very patient with us explaining the menu. The restaurant is huge with plenty of seating. The food was phenomenal. I had pancakes, eggs, bacon, and a salmon cake. The salmon cake was so juicy, and fresh. Many restaurants do not make their food scratch. At Annie and Earl's they make everything fresh and high quality. I also had a coffee, which had a cinnamon base. The best part is my entire meal came up to just over $10. Yes $10!! It's very inexpensive. Affordable food, with a spectacular dining experience. I had such high hopes for this place after reading all the good reviews on it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The customer service is very lacking - I went at about noon on a weekday and there was only one other customer waiting. After taking my order take-out order, the servers stood around talking. All I ordered was a Joe's Belly Buster (eggs, french toast, potatoes, and sausage) - I waited 30 minutes before I asked one of the workers if my order was done. I ended up waiting another 10 minutes before my order was done - turns out they forgot to make my order. The person, who got there before me, waited even longer for theirs - turns out that they forgot to make his order too...when there are only 2 customers there. The food was passable but nothing spectacular for the wait and the sausage was gross. On top of that, all their prices have gone up, so if you are looking at their menu online, you might want to double check to see what the real price is.
