My SIL accidentally broke a middle pane of my 1955 door. Martin Glass arrived on time for the estimate. I had looked at the door, having taken framing courses, and knew it wasn't going to straight forward to remove the trim. I told the tech that and also said I hoped to replace the door with a new one soon that was energy efficient. Because I said that, they agreed to do my door as these 75yo doors can take cosmetic damage to remove the pane. Again, the glazer arrived on time. The end result, which he was proud of, was a tiny hole and a tiny crack ( easily filled with wood caulk if I cared). It was great! He was done quickly and I can't thank them more. Likewise with my SIL. But hey, cardboard and duct tape was more energy efficient during those really frigid days! read more

She is reviewing how repairs get tracked and helping with the customer service training for the new office staff, and she wrote, "The fault lies with Martin Glass, not you. Please accept my sincere apology. You are heard and believed." That was all I was after. I am leaving the review up because the visit happened, and I am adding this because the ownership answered and is doing something about it. --- Unfortunately, I can't leave 0 stars. My partner dropped off four window screens to be rescreened. On the first visit, the woman at the counter noticed the tension springs were missing from most of them and asked Sam, the manager, what to do. His answer was "well, if she's accurate, then we need to order some more, and it'll be a week." I hadn't been doubted about anything yet, and I was already being doubted. Two weeks passed with no contact, so I called and drove over. Sam told me they had texted and called. I received neither. The only reason I was standing there is that I called them. He then told me I had brought in three screens, not four. I told him it was four. He would not go look again. He told me I was trespassing, told me to leave, and said he was calling the police, and he started dialing. He stood there dialing for four or five minutes and never completed a call. While he was pretending to dial, I told him how it looked from where I was standing: he had decided I was wrong because I'm a woman, and he was keeping my property over it. He went back to pretending to dial. I finally asked the woman at the counter if she would please check one more time. She went back, said "oh, hold on," and my fourth screen was exactly where it should have been. The three large ones had been grouped together and the small one set off by itself. Their own filing was the whole mystery. I left with all four screens and no apology. The one star is not for her. She was the only person in that building who was willing to go look. A busy counter miscounts sometimes. That is not what this review is about. This is about a manager who would rather accuse a paying customer of lying, and fake-dial the police for five minutes, than ask his own employee to look one more time. If you use this shop anyway, photograph what you drop off with the full count in the frame, label each piece, and get the count written on your ticket. read more

I called to ask if they could send someone out to look at a leak in my window and the woman on the phone interrupted me to say they didn't do that and that I needed to bring the window in... this is an installed 107" x 65" window in my home, that likely just needs to be caulked. She said I needed to call the manufacturer and so I explained that the manufacturer directed me to them and that they told me what the problem likely was. She again interrupted me to say she could send someone out but there would be a service fee and it would take a month. If that's the case, that's fine, but would never pay for a service here now that I've seen how they talk to people. Felt very much like they just wanted to get me off the phone. If you're too busy, just say that. If you can't help, just say "unfortunately, we don't do repairs of that nature" or point the person towards another business if you know of it. I had a huge glass replaced in the living room about 2.5 years ago, it wasn't cheap including they charged $300 to install. During the two winters, my wife would complain that it was colder than normal when she sits next to the window, but I just mistook that as normal as she is sitting next to huge windows. Well, few days ago, with the huge storm we got hit, we had water coming through the glass that this company has installed. Water was pouring in through the gaps. Well this explain my wife complain the colder air coming through. It doesn't seem the company sealed the glass very well when installing. It is amazing that Martin Glass after I emailed them told me that this is normal. This is the response I got from Martin Glass; "The water filtration is unlikely to be caused by glass installation. Big rain storms with driving rain can cause minor water filtration." This wasn't minor water filtration, this was me wiping the water and it would come in right away, and there is no way that any air or water coming in through the glass is normal. We were looking to have some very dated floor to ceiling mirrors on a wall in our living room removed. We contacted at least five different glass places - most never even responded. Martin contacted us with a reasonable quote. We liked the price and the fact that they were in the neighborhood too so we hired them to remove the 12' by 9' wall of mirrors. The two friendly workers were prompt and super efficient. They were able to remove the four large mirrors without even a crack in them and did it all in 30 minutes. That includes hauling them out of our place and into their truck so we didn't have to dispose of them. All of this for a good price (much less then the other quote we got). I used Martin Glass to replace 1 out of 6 double-paned windows in my living room. Some pros: I was able to make an appointment quickly. The technician that came out measured multiple times to make sure the size would be correct. I received a replacement window shortly after approving to the invoice. The installation was quick. The cons: First, the technician incorrectly re-framed the window. I then noticed that the window was accumulating more condensation than any of my other windows. I called Martin Glass and they sent out the owner to fix the trim, which he did, but left a number of unfinished nail holes through out the trim that I will need to get finished. When I told him about the condensation, he repeatedly dismissed my concern telling me it was to be expected, despite me pointing out that my other windows did not condense as much. He then repeatedly told me that the window they had ordered indeed had lower insulation, but that was because a higher insulation window in the same color wasn't available. Had that been discussed with me prior, I would have gone with a slightly different color but with higher insulation - the previous window was a slightly different color and that didn't bother me. I called Martin Glass again and told them about my concerns. After some email exchanges, I was told I would receive a call, and I did not. I then noticed that from the outside, the replaced window was actually a different color than the others. After that I didn't want to work with them anymore; It was getting on winter so I paid the invoice and moved on. read more

I had Martin glass put tempered glass into a storm door sash. They put it in the wrong channel & the sash was crooked on the lower left corner & wouldn't fit into the door properly & wouldn't slide up & down. I took it back & the manager hammered on it & it was still crooked but told me it would work. It still wouldn't fit into the door properly & still wouldn't slide up & down. I took it back again & he wanted to charge me $100 to come to the house to see if it wouldn't fit. I had pictures of how it sat crooked but he dismissed me. I explained that the sash wouldn't slide up & down like it's supposed to & he dismissed me. He was argumentative, rude, demeaning & aggressive, so aggressive I became aggressive right back. He refunded my money instead of standing behind his work. Why would I get a refund if it was done right? My blood pressure went sky high dealing with such horrible customer service that I called him a few choice names. I took the sash to a different place & when I told him my experience he physically described the manager at Martin Glass & said he's heard about this guy's behavior before. If you're looking for amateur work done poorly & don't mind being talked down to, go to Martin Glass. If you want quality work done, don't. At least until this guy is gone. read more

I am a westsider but had experience with Martin Glass previously when they reglazed some windows I brought from my northwoods cottage for reworking. I then called them to rescreen my porch and they did a wonderful and skillful job remaking the inserts in aluminum and rescreening them. They have also removed some of the failed thermopanes in my windows without need to replace the whole window. read more

Excellent service from Martin Glass, very satisfied with my experience! Final price was consistent with the estimate. The repair men could not have been more professional or friendly. My only regret is that I did not call them sooner. They were able to repair a large window that I was afraid I would have to replace at great expense. The fix was more complicated than they'd thought, but they got it figured out and stuck to the very reasonable price they quoted in their estimate. I'm glad for those that had a good experience with Martin Glass, mine was not. I used them several years ago to replace failed glass units in my home. The work was great and I assumed it would be again as I needed more units replaced. Despite my telling the employees that I could remove the units so they could be worked on safely on a flat surface, the glass was replaced on the home. I now have deeply scratched window trim, and they finally came to clean up the child like caulk job they did. One of the workers was very rude saying they were already 2 hours past completion time. Needless to say there was no response from an email I sent them bringing this to their attention. Never again will I use Martin Glass for the un-professional treatment from this work crew. read more
