My husband and I had to bring our daughter to Dr. Hoff's office twice on different occasions to get teeth extracted due to overcrowding in her mouth: the first time was 2 years ago to get 3 teeth extracted in preparation for braces, and the second time was today to get her 4 wisdom teeth removed due to the way they were growing sideways and one wisdom tooth preventing one of her adult teeth from growing out. Both times, Dr. Hoff showed professionalism and was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done, showing us the x-rays of her teeth and pointing out what was being shown so that we had a better understanding. His staff also showed professionalism, both before her surgeries as well as after; my daughter gets very nervous and anxious when it comes to dentist procedures and the staff understood and was very patient with her, and when the surgery was over, they thoroughly explain d after-care procedures and asking if there were any questions that we might have had. read more

I had my Wisdom tooth extracted for the first time last week and it was quick and easy! Laid down on the chair, had a nose mask placed on me and IV placed in my arm. A few mins after that, all I remembered was waking up and it was done. I don't remember exactly when I closed my eyes and knocked out. I actually thought I caught my self dosing off while they were trying to prep me, but when I opened my eyes, the whole procedure was done. Tooth extracted, stitched up and a head band with an ice pack on. As scary as it sounds, or peoples past experiences making it sound scary, you're fully asleep and don't feel anything. I didn't feel any pain the day of after I got home or the few days after that. Just ate jell-O, pudding and scramble eggs for the next few days. Also Took my prescriptions daily, and I was back to doing normal activities the day after. read more

From the first Consultation Dr. martin was very up front about the pro's and con's of wisdom teeth removal. And assured me that as long as I follow the pre-op and post-op. Instructions everything will go smoothly. Then came surgery day and from The beginning the staff and Dr.Martin made me feel comfortable and assured it would go smoothly. And hour later it was done and there was very little to no pain, a bit of discomfort but that was it. Been following the instructions they have since then and I'm feeling superb. My daughter is in her early teens and needs her wisdom teeth removed, so we scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hoff. We got there on time, filled out a 3 pages form with a lot of redundancy, and after 45 minutes waiting we were put on a room with a TV. The woman who put us in the room barely said a word to us. She said, you can seat there and you will watch a video. We said, we don't want to watch a video about the surgery. She said, this video doesn't show the surgery. I said "we don't want to watch a video about the surgery" 3 times. It didn't register. She turned the video on and left the room. The video explained in detail all kinds of horrible things that can happen when you remove your wisdom teeth. It said some of these things can become permanent. It went on and on talking about bad stuff and my teenager - who was already nervous to start with - now is completely freaked out! We left. Didn't even want to meet the surgeon. I understand about liability and that surgeons want to cover their asses in case something goes wrong. But before even saying hello to us? With a video? Showing it to a kid? This was a terrible way to explain the surgery to a kid. A completely lack of tact in dealing with young patients. Do not recommend. read more

Dr. Hoff and staff did a great job helping extract my four wisdom teeth, and made sure my recovery goes well without infection. He is very experienced and skillful, patient explaining situations and concepts, really caring about the patients, and has a great sense of humor too! I strongly recommend Dr. Hoff for oral procedures especially for wisdom teeth removal. My bottom wisdom teeth were both infected, and the situation is more tricky cause they were also wrapped by some nerves. He referred me to a place to do 3D scan of the teeth to make sure we get a clear picture of what the situation is like. I didn't want to listen to all the nonsense of scalpels cutting flesh and and tweezers or pliers pulling teeth during the procedure, so I asked for general anesthesia. I got in the procedure room, made some jokes with the folks and woke up with four wisdom teeth short. It's that easy! Dr. Hoff gave me some tips on how to recover faster and meds for killing pain and anti infection. I did enough icing as Dr. Hoff told, and did not have any swelling. It didn't even hurt for a couple days but got so much painful since day 3. I couldn't stand the pain even with consistently taking pain killers. I called Dr. Hoff for an emergency call, and he went back to the office on his off day to check all my files to make sure he understood what could be wrong. He told me that the tooth came out from the painful spot was buried pretty deep and ensured me it's not dry socket since it's not like painful as hell. He gave me prescriptions for stronger anti infection to make sure I get more doses. I did painkillers on schedule like clockwork, and powered through the pain after another 4-5 days. I went back for a couple of follow ups and has been doing great ever since. read more

Overcharged me to assess how much he was going to overcharge me to extract a tooth. Very nice, but billing practices are questionable. After I disputed the charge, the office person told me she would have told me how much it was going to be if I had asked her. Upfront transparency would be really nice. Shop around. I was not looking forward to having my wisdom teeth removed. I had gotten rather attached to them. I care a lot about having healthy teeth and so I was referred to Dr. Hoff's office for the extractions. They set up the initial appointment to review the xray and explain the procedure. I watched a video (made for this specific office use) it was clear and answered all my questions regarding the risks. Dr. Hoff was great, he asked me if I had any additional questions after the video and explained what I would need to do after the procedure to help prevent infection. Before I left I sat down with the office manager to go over the cost and insurance. She was wonderful, she gave me a breakdown to take home and a list of foods that I would be able to eat after the procedure so I could stock up before hand. They contacted me the day before to remind me of my appointment and my pre-medication. They also took the time to contact Kaiser directly so I could pick up my pain meds and antibiotics to be ready for after the surgery. The day of the surgery they gave me a tour of the facility just so that I wouldn't get lost. They explained in full detail what they were doing as they were doing it and what they were going to do once I was sleeping. Perfect I went to sleep and it was all over. They have their own recovery area where you rest in these big chairs until you are ready to have someone pick you up. The doctor made sure that my dad (who picked me up) and I knew what to do for the next couple of days until I returned for a follow up. The communication from the office staff was exceptional. The work was perfect! I have told everyone about the great service and would highly recommend. read more

This is not for me, but I had to take an elderly neighbor to have a tooth root extracted after her crown decayed and came off. The staff at Dr. Hoff were very professional and helped me get her an appointment very quickly. I did a dry run to see where the office is as it is in mixed residential medical office zoned area as they made a 8:00 A.M. appointment and I wanted to make sure we were there early. The staff is great and leave the parking places open for their patrons. You might want to know that they DO NOT BILL and expect the payment at the time of surgery. Brought my brother here last Friday to get his wisdom teeth removed! Putting a 16 year old through "general sedation" is a little scary - I was anxious about this at first but I knew this is what he needed in order to remove those darn impacted teeth! Not even an hour later, they called me to come back with them so I could sit with my brother while he was recovering - Dr. Hoff came by, chatted a little, explained all the post-op procedures and let my brother stay as long as he needed until he was fully awake! The two assistants were beyond kind, sweet and very informative. The office is also spacious and clean. 2 thumbs up to Dr. Hoff and his team for taking care of my brother. read more

My son needed for extractions, so he was a bit nervous to begin with. I had hoped that the staff could seat him quickly, so that he wouldn't have to wait around worrying about it. Instead, we waited an hour. My son was taken back to an operatory and then sent back to the waiting room. I realize that Dr. Hoff is a specialist, but my time is valuable, too. More than that, my son had to sit there worrying for an hour-- I had even taken him out of school a few minutes early to get him there on time. I would not recommend his office on that basis, but I do think that Dr. Hoff is very good at what he does-- great oral surgeon, but not very compassionate, apparently. read more

I had to have a tooth pulled and its been almost 3 months. I still have numbness in my mouth, tongue and gums and it appeared he hit a nerve with the Novocain. I had 2 follow up appointments and he showed no concern what so ever about the problem. Now I find out this could be permanent or if I am lucky might only last a year. I an told by my dentist that this happens in rare occasions. He used a novacain that was fast acting and he was in a real hurry like he tried to squeeze in as many people as possible and now because of that I may have a permanently messed up mouth, the left side of my mouth is drooping like I only have a half smile and I still have a bad taste in my mouth. I still have to talk to my denist about this referral, he had me sign so many forms that I spent more time filling out forms than the tooth removal and I am sure I signed a release in there somewhere. I did not feel good about the referral to begin with and should of gone to someone with more than on 4 reviews over a 5 year period. read more

Well, I had resisted having my wisdom teeth out for almost half a century, but finally the bell tolled for them, and I gave in, not happily. I had them out on only 1 side. I will cut to the chase. I was very concerned about the pain and recovery, and had nothing to worry about. Having been asleep during the procedure, I felt and remembered nothing. No pain when I woke up, b/c of the local anesthesia. Some pain later that afternoon, controllable with oral meds. No swelling. After about 24 hrs on a soft-ish diet, I was almost back to normal, with effectively no pain and minimal discomfort. Had a normal dinner on day 2, carefully chewing on 1 side, but felt perfectly fine. Day 3, back to baseline, w/just a hint of achiness. Dr. Hoff was a pleasure to deal with, and if anything, overstated the discomfort I would feel. While I still wouldn't recommend having your wisdom teeth out if they are not causing trouble, if you do need them out, call Dr. Hoff and don't worry! I would say this experience was far better than having a filling or a crown done. read more

I went in last week for my first consultation, and I was blown away by how friendly all of his staff were. The office is extremely clean and modern, all of the assistants could not have been friendlier and were extremely warm and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Martin Hoff was also just as friendly. I got my upper wisdoms pulled out yesterday, and I DID NOT FEEL A THING. When I woke up I was in no pain, just very drowsy. Dr. Martin Hoff is extremely good at what he does. I am still in the healing process, and it has gone very smoothly so far. I recently went to Dr. Hoff for a single tooth implant procedure. I was extremely scared of the procedure - having never been "under" before. Dr. Hoff made me feel at ease right away. He gave me a lot of information about the entire procedure and results. The surgery itself was a piece of cake (for me that is - Dr. Hoff and his staff were working hard!). I woke up, zero pain, and my husband drove me home. I waited for the pain to come, but it never did. Dr. Hoff and his staff have been wonderful and helpful throughout the entire process. Terrible experience. Had a consult with Dr. Hoff regarding my daughter's impacted tooth. He seemed nice, reviewed the procedure. We scheduled the surgery on a day in which my daughter would not miss school. The office said they would call me with the exact time and financing. After 3 weeks and 3 phone calls (me to them), I had heard nothing back. Finally, I reached a receptionist who said they cancelled my daughter's surgery because the referring ortho (who is a block away) did not send them a prescription. Huh? About a month later, there was a small problem with a tiny piece of bone protruding from my gum in the same area. I was very worried, and made an appointment to go back ASAP. I went at the very end of January to get all of my wisdom teeth pulled. I was very nervous about it and how much pain I would be in afterwards and the procedure itself but if you go to Dr.Hoff you wont regret it! He is very nice and friendly, as well as the rest of the staff at his office, which definitely made me feel more comfortable about the whole thing. He has a good sense of humor too but is able to be professional at the same time. They knock you out completely and before I knew it I woke up and it was all over with! I thought I was going to be in so much pain but with the ibuprofen they gave me I was able to deal with the aches and soreness just fine! I went back twice afterwards for check ups and both times they said everything looked fine and I felt fine too! He also took out my boyfriend's wisdom teeth, his brother's, and even their cousin's wisdom teeth years ago and none of them have any complaints about him! read more

I had my wisdom teeth removed around 2 months ago. I was very scared. The front office was very helpful. They helped my mom schedule my appointments and billed my insurance. The girls were all nice too. But the doctor was my problem. I give this office one star for the front, one star for the assistants and no star for him. He was rough with me, didn't explain anything he was doing and just did not make me feel comfortable. He was rude to the girls in the room. He made a comment to one of the girls that was rather vulgar right in front of me! It was uncalled for! I would recommend the office because of the girls, but if you're looking for a good doctor, keep looking!!! read more
