They have been there for me when ever needed and fixing other people's whoops. Just go straight to them ( after I've attempted of course ) and they even fix that with a smile. Coupled drain pan to air conditioner drain. New flex line installed from gas tee. Removed old salt water softener and installed bypass flex lines. Would not recommend. Needed sink hooked up and leaky toilet repaired. They showed up day before to look over job and figure out parts required. Next day showed up hour late and still needed to go get parts. I said job should not cost more than certain amount. Well got email bill for that amount ,bill was not itemized just for that amount. Used them couple times before bc of good reviews I read and they seemed good. Then I had toilet leaking water so I called them once again. Their worker was very friendly and was going on and on how great and expensive my toilets are and part that needed to be replaced is a major one that he has to special order and it is very expensive .. showed me catalog saying he doesn't make up prices and that he will do me a favor by reducing price a little ... It wasn't sounding right but guy seemed professional and nice. After he left, our conversation kept bothering me so I looked it up the issue I had with toilet on the internet and sure enough I was right, part that needed to be replaced was only couple bux(don't quite remember the exact price now) and 10 minutes to fix it and not as he was saying couple hours.. the same day I went and replaced part on all my toilets (bc others started to have same problem). I was so upset bc I felt he wanted to take advantage of my lack of knowledge about plumbing charging me very steep price. Wether he wanted to scam me or was highly unqualified to do that job my I don't know. My only regret I haven't confronted Martin Plumbing about it. And bc of this I will not be taking my business to them anymore. Very upset. Excellent service! I purchased a new faucet from HD and had martin plumbing install it. Josh came Sunday afternoon and installed the new faucet - only to find out that the gasket didn't quite fit my sink faucet holes correctly. He took it off, put it back in the box for me to return and told me what to look for to make sure it fits correctly. I own a rental property in Modesto in an older neighborhood that had tree roots growing into the sewer at the point of connection to the sewer main line in the alley. The city has a cost sharing program for this work, but it requires three bids from contractors on the city's approved program contractor list. Martin Plumbing was one of those. In contrast to other plumbing companies I contacted, who couldn't even get me a bid after several weeks and tons of phone calls, Martin Plumbing was professional, responsible and timely in getting the bid to me. Unfortunately, of the three bids received, another one was slightly lower than theirs. However, I still give them 3 stars because their bid and office procedures felt very professional to me. Especially in contrast to some of the other plumbers I contacted (see my other reviews). And even then, they weren't very much over the lowest bid, which suggests their pricing is pretty good as well. read more

I had a main line water leak, just enough to get a swamp. I thought I would handle it myself and started digging. When I got down to the action, the tree roots and other pipes exceeded my skills. I called a plumber (not Martin) and he came out for an hour and surrendered. By contrast Martin plumbing sent Josh and Chris. Chris came around noon and continued until it was done around 8pm. He even fixed my shower drain since he was here. The final bill was below the estimate. Chris and Josh are easy to talk to. They do a good job of explaining what's going on and what needs to be done. They know when to call for backup (like when we found a buried power line) , but there is darn little they can't do. Next time I need a plumber I know who to call. read more

I had a blocked shower drain and when I snaked it, it had seemed like I had cleared the blockage until I heard water hitting the ground in the crawl space. Figured I had hit a weak spot in the decades old pipes. I called Martin Plumbing on a Sat afternoon and they had a plumber out here on Sun afternoon and on time. Eddie was friendly and professional. After crawling under the house it turns out one joint in the drain from 20 years ago wasn't glued and I had popped it out. He glued it up and tested for leaks. He was here for about 20 minutes on a Sun and did the simple fix for no charge. Seriously. So after that I asked him for a quote on redoing the whole stack which is about 40-50 years old and I know needs replacing, all the drains are slow. He came back with a very reasonable number. If I could give 0 stars I would. I never write bad reviews on yelp, mostly cause nothing has ever been bad enough to warrant it. We had used Martin plumbing before for a drain clog and we had a great experience but will never go back now! For a quick summary they raised their quote by 40% and told us things needed to be replaced for hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars when it was just a simple fix that cost $5. Also the main lady Rose was rude! Johnny came out cause we had a shower leak and an irrigation pipe leaking. He was nice but told me the shower was bad (it was 1.5 years old and my husband had put it in), and we needed to replace it or re-caulk it. He quoted me over the phone and said he'd email me in the morning. I had talked to Rose in the office and mentioned we were landlords who moved to the bay area, and when we got a quote after Johnny had talked to her it was 40% higher!!! I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I was a landlord and assumed that I had money. Rose said the re-caulking job would take 8-9 hours. My husband disagreed and so did many other people with plumbing or construction experience when we asked around. The leak got significantly worse after Johnny came out and when I called rose about it she wasn't apologetic and blamed us that the problem was so bad. My husband and I went back and it was just the drain didn't have enough plumbers puddy so water was leaking below. Took my husband and the tenant five minutes to fix and cost $5. Then we re-caulked the bottom of the shower cause it looked a little gross and that took 15 minutes. Moral of the story, if it's not a clog and you are looking at a leak, they will tell you way more is wrong than it actually is. If we hadn't built the bathroom and had friends in construction, we wouldnt have known how unreasonable that is. Ask around first and don't waste your money. read more

Please check around for pricing before you use this company. An elderly customer (87 yrs) hot water heater went out. This company was called and quoted her 336.00 for heater assembly. I called Rheem factory who had an order to ship the water heater assembly under warranty. I asked the factory what the average price was to install the assembly and was told 90.00 to 150.00 tops. I called another repair company who came out and installed a new coupler for under 100. It never needed the heater assembly! The owner then tells me the gasket needed to also be replaced to "do it right". Again, called the manufacture who said not necessarily the case. Check around. read more

Amazing company! Tim from Martin plumbing came out and diagnosed a fairly complicated situation expertly. The solution was to involve a good deal of digging, which I elected to complete myself. While doing so, Tim drove out twice to check on my progress and to offer some tips. Upon completion of the job Tim actually charged me less than his already very reasonable quote and never charged me a dime for his previous visits. The service from him has always been excellent, he is timely, honest and does great work that he stands by. Most recently, we purchased a new dishwasher and oven from two separate stores and the total for installation was going to be $320+ for both, our quote from Martin plumbing was almost $100 less. He sent one of his employees out right away, this was the first time we had someone other than Richard and he was awesome. Very friendly, clean and timely. After trying all the easy fixes we needed to call a plumber to just come out and get it done before we waisted more time and money trying to do it ourselves. On our initial encounter with Martin Plumbing we ran into a few snags. While most of the work was good a few things could have been better. Instead of automatically slamming them on Yelp, we asked to meet with the owner. He rearranged his scheduled and met with us on a Friday night to address our concerns. He was open, honest, and appeared to be trustworthy. We went over some of the concerns that we had in regards to outcomes on a few of the items we purchased and he not only addressed the issues...he improved on them! Everyone is going to have an off day...what I LOVED was the owners willingness to work with us and listen to our concerns. Together we worked to resolve the issues and we have even hired them to come out and do more work at our home. I felt that small-town-everyone-knows-your-name feel and that they clearly do stand behind their work. I thought that Tim and Josh were OUTSTANDING! Nice, respectful, honest, and hardworking. It was one of the most stress-free work that I have had done at the house. From the original crew Chris and "the other" Josh were also great. Today we had an emergency with our hot water heater and they were here within the hour to look at it and even on a busy holiday weekend they made time to get it replaced. Even in a big town you can still get that small town "your hand shake is better than a contract" quality and dependability. I rarely give reviews so this should indicate how outstanding this business is. Chris had came out to give us an estimate and emailed us the quotes within days. The work we had was fairly extensive which included fixing a leak from a 2nd floor, adding a kitchen sink connection to a guest house, connecting gas lines to a fire pit, installing outdoor grill and cooktop and basically fixing a previous contractors mess along with making sure we passed inspection for permits from the city. Chris accomplished everything and in such a professional manner. Due to the complexity of the gas lines, his supervisor Duane had also came out and gave his suggestions to make sure we pass inspections. Great teamwork! Duane was also great in giving pointers. Highly recommend this business if you want things done professionally and correctly. I told Chris they are our go to plumbers from now on, but I hope I don't need one anytime soon (Lol). read more
