ALL my water pipes started SHAKING at 5 PM. Scared the beejeezus out of me. I was sure my pipes were blowing up. I put out a Yelp request to some local plumbers while I tried to assess the problem. YouTube solutions didn't work. Thrifty was the first to get back to me and I know they weren't too far from my place. He told me what he suspected the problem was and a phone call later he assured me that my house was not exploding and I just had to turn the water off to that toilet. (And then he talked me through how to do that!) He set up a time from 10-1 the next day and was here at 10 AM on the dot. He thought it was one problem but that wasn't it so had to do a different fix. He only charged me for the parts he used and the hour of work. They were in and out in under 27 minutes. And they tightened the valve on the way out to stop the slow leak that I started when I was shutting the water on and off yesterday trying to solve the problem. He takes cash, card, and check. I only wish they would send an on the way text or ask if you want one because I was also coordinating something else. Good value and quick to calm down all my anxious nattering. We had a leak in our upstairs shower drain, the came opened up the ceiling beneath the shower and assess the problem provided the proper solution and then got to work after our approval. First thank you Yelp for helping me find Thrifty Plumbing. I had put a request out to plumbers in Modesto. Being new and a home owner here, I had NO idea what the problem with my sink was. We stupidly thought youtube would help, but we couldn't figure it out. Someone and I don't want to shame anyone oversealed the pipe under our kitchen sink because he thought it was cracked. In reality, our sink was clogged and needed a good cleaning in the pipes. After someone finally let me call Thrifty (and Thrifty being the most recent reply from the plumbers) we got an appointment in for Monday. Mike, a calm and efficient man, was able to figure this out right away. I wasn't there, during the service as I was working but my mother was there and let me know he came in and fixed/cleaned everything within the hour. Father and son came out to quote replacement of the hot water valve under the bathroom sink. The townhouse water turn off valve was also broken and said that would be hundreds of dollars to replace. So the next step was to turn off the main water to the complex. He said it would take hours (which he would charge to sit here- confirmed by his daughter at the office) for EVERY unit to drain before he could work on it. I had the water turned off by the water company, replaced the valve (ACE hardware that he also said was defective and I needed to buy his) and got the water back on...all in ONE HOUR. We bought an older home in Dec 2021 and knew we needed some updates. We wanted to remodel our master bathroom and contacted Thrifty plumbing. Mike, the owner, came out pretty quickly to give us a quote on the job. He was quick and thorough and knows what he's doing. We were impressed with his knowledge and pricing to do the job. We hired them and they started our project quickly, even with it being end of December! Mike and all of his team were quick, professional and very knowledgeable at their jobs. They are very direct and explain everything they're doing, even if they encounter an issue. They don't take short cuts and make sure their work is done well. We greatly appreciated that. While remodeling the bathroom, we had a feeling the house plumbing pipes could be bad and we asked them to replace all the pipes while they were under the house.
