4++ Farmers market that pops up in the Downtown Martinez area on Sundays I believe. While the market isn't huge, there's a really good selection of produce purveyors along with some eateries, some bakeries, and some general vendors. This farmers market as a small town charm to it and every person I interacted with was friendly. I was in the area because I crashed at a buddy's house the night before. When I was leaving the area, I saw this place and wanted to check it out. Keep in mind it was around the holidays and it was drizzling a bit that Sunday, so I'm not sure if it affected the amount of vendors present as this was my first time visiting. I ended up getting some enchiladas to go from one of the vendors selling Mexican food and a loaf of quinoa bread from one of the bakers (West Won Bread out of Napa). The food was good and the quinoa loaf was amazing and enjoyed by my parents and I later on when we served with some stew. Would love to re-visit with better weather conditions and different parts of the year. But definitely an enjoyable market based on my first visit. read more

Martinez farmers market is the best around. They have lots of different veggie and fruit vendors for great prices. They have your typical kettle corn stand plus lots of pastries stands. There is also a local meat vendor who sells out quick. There is usually a slight breeze in downtown Martinez which makes it lovely for strolling the farmers market. Everyone is friendly and there are tons of families around. No dogs are allowed. read more

Such a lovely farmers market! There is a nice selection from many veggie vendors, fresh baked goods, fresh bread, prepared foods, food spots, meat and more! Theh also pair up with small goods businesses once a month for a mega market! Not only is the market great! But it is located right in the middle of the main street! So you are local to all the great businesses. We like to stop at one of the coffee shops before we stroll the market. Or there are so many great lunch spots to enjoy after. I thought I already reviewed this one, too. A great place for a Sunday stroll 9am-1pm and if you're from Martinez (I'm not) you'll probably run into a lot of people you know. The empanada stand (Argentinian I think) is a favorite but come early, as with everything else, to get the best picks. Fruits/veg are reasonable and good quality for the most part. Vendors are friendly and most also accept credit card but it seems to go smoother with cash. Flowers, baked goods, hummus, meat, misc knick knacks, all offered here. Great selection for a small town. Some places start closing it down early, so I'd go early if possible. Restaurants along Main Street very active during this time + the Starbucks. Very close to Amtrak if you want to sit and watch the trains for a while afterwards. read more

I really like this little market. And before I was pushed out and blocked from going to the farmers market, any farmers market, stretching my food budget, buying fresh healthy non-gmo and organic produce and veggies for the most part, going to any farmers market was a huge part of my life and in the beginning, before the hatefest on my life, the Martinez Farmers Market was one of my favorite markets to visit, I actually loved the feel of this market. Not so much anymore, since there is a darkness and anger to the atmosphere. A feeling of unwelcome and mafia-like territory, similar to the Concord and Walnut Creek Farmers Markets, unfriendly and territorial. Supporting farmers is important and really should be important to those who eat, which is everyone. Why? Because without farmers and their farms and the early morning hours and harvesting they do, we 'the people' wouldn't have any thing to eat. *In fact, because of COVID19, everyone should be supporting farmers and farmers markets more often than the regular grocery store. There have been several articles stating a food shortage could be on its way, farmers are having to dump food, dairy products and more b/c there's not enough of a demand. But who am I to tell ppl what to do or not do, I fought for farmers in the past and there was no increase in their support. It was fun seeing how many farmers markets I could go to, that is, until I was bullied, glared at, ostracized, pushed out of that arena, which was hard because I'm on a really tight monthly food budget and the farmers market helped to stretch that food budget. Plus, I was able to cut out the middleman and buy direct from the farmers. Anyhow, Martinez farmers market was the third farmers market I began to frequent and I even shared it with one of my brothers, shortly thereafter I was blocked and prevented from going to the Martinez farmers market and other local Markets too. It was really hard. The Martinez farmers market is located in downtown Martinez on Sundays from 10-2pm, the hard part about getting to the market is that its hours overlap with the farmers market that happens in downtown Walnut Creek. What makes the Martinez Farmers Market even better is, that all parking is free on Sundays. My original Martinez Farmers Market review was somehow removed, but I didn't receive notification of its removal and it was posted in 2016. I've found that the produce and products sold at the Martinez farmers market, are not old, has really good prices, and there is a variety of produce & products, not just the typical fruits, squash, and lettuces. I don't live so close to Martinez anymore, but if I did, I'd try to somehow get back to pick up fresh fruits and veggies. read more

I'd have to say that this is probably my favorite farmer's market! It's located in the beautiful downtown area of lovely Martinez. Yes, it's a bit further than most other markets in the area, but the deals and the service are just unbeatable! I love taking that drive down 680 and passing by the old train tracks and the cute old historic buildings nearby on my way there! There is ALWAYS street parking nearby and the market is never overcrowded. The farmers, workers, and locals are some of the most sweetest and down to earth people that you will ever meet. It's not the largest market of its' kind, but what they do have is variety! I almost always find a fruit or vegetable here that I can't find at other markets. The "wheelin' and dealin'" here really isn't wheelin' and dealin'. These people really work with you. If you tell them what you want to spend, they will happily appease you. They want your business and you want their product, so they won't stand on it and nickel and dime you. The produce of course is always fresh! A lot of the items (especially the fruit) that I get will last me up to 2 sometimes even 3 weeks depending on what It is. I usually come near closing time to get the best deal that I can. During the last hour, they practically start giving away produce to try and get rid of what they can. A lot of the stations will even let you sample and mix and match which I just love! There aren't too many food options as far as eating a quick lunch here. However, the location is close to so many restaurants and stores which is another reason why I love taking trips down here. The location is wonderful! It's also super close to the Marina and the Martinez Regional Shoreline. One thing to also note is that this market is open year around rain or shine! I can always count on it being there when I need to make my rounds! It's definitely worth a visit if you are a local! read more

This local market is my favorite. It's the perfect size. Has a few food vendors, live music, vegetables, fruits, and local organic meat!! There is a chip guy that I have to warn you about. Once you taste them you will crave them. The bread gentleman has a seed stick that is to die for. My number one reason to go here is for Alhambra Valley beef and pears. Their ground beef with liver makes the best burger you'll ever cook. And if you've never had their pears- then shame on you. They come from the oldest vines in California and taste like candy. Do shop local and come down one Sunday. TIP: come early around 10, so nothing is sold out! read more

Ive had to up my dollar amount from $10 to $20 in these times of having multiple children who need fruit and veggies in my life. My kids really enjoy the market. We start at one end and work I way up. With my hot little $20 in my hands Im prepared to stock up. Carrots, Romaine Lettuce for $4. A basket of Strawberries for $8 and for $10 two mini Cupcakes and a Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie and a Banana Nut Chocolate Chip Muffin. So, a little more than $20 our family was sufficiently happy. The bakery stall we bought our sweets from warned us of peanut allergy. What they didn't know was that peanuts are allergic to us. Do not forget the Cheese and Fruit samples. You get so much more than what you only have money for. Theres a knife sharpening booth that Ive had my eye on. My knives need sharpening bad. I stood and talked to the man running the stall. Im bringing some knives down on my next visit. Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall, still the best Farmers Market ever! read more

Came here Sunday. The market is in the middle of downtown so there's a lot of parking. It's only two blocks but there is definitely a lot. They sell fruits, vegetables,meat,eggs, and pastries. They have plenty and the quality of the food is really good. They have a lot of coffee spots around the market. It's very cute and definitely worth going. read more

The Sunday version of the Martinez Farmer's Market is on Main Street between the Bulldog BBQ and Starbucks. My son and I stopped by today as we were in the neighbourhood after checking out the Train Station in preparation for our upcoming overnight train trip to Portland. We had a nice time. My son ended up in some shade near the creek and some friendly dogs (who by law weren't within the Market itself). And after a convenient trip to the Bank of America ATM, I ended up with some sweet corn, pasta, and some really tasty pastry from a German Bakery. The Martinez Arts Association was also represented as was an entertaining Country Western band. Some of the local antique and and at least Victoria's (the old DiMaggio's) and the nearby Mexican place were also open. I would rate the Martinez Farmer's Market a little better than the similarly sized one in Pleasant Hill, but not as nice as the larger one in Walnut Creek. What I like here is being downtown next to the creek (and some shade) and with the Waterfront an easy walk away. read more

I'm not sure which farmer's market I should be reviewing but location wise this one made more sense since the other one is listed as the Court/Main Street market. I'm going to be moving closer to downtown Martinez and love that the farmer's market will be walking distance from home so this will definitely be a part of my new Sunday routine. Today some of the member's of Undead Bettys roller derby were hanging out which was cool to see (on skates of course!). Some of the ladies' male halves were hanging out with them (on skates as well) and one couldn't help but notice that the ladies looked like they lived in their skates and some of the men were wobbling around. Rather amusing. I'm all for absolutely non GMO fed and humanely raised animals for food. I will admit that I wish I could go vegan or vegetarian but I love meat too much to give it up. I was really happy to see a LOCAL rancher that has farm raised grass-fed cattle and hogs that are treated kindly. Their supply is limited. It's about quality of life and overall product as opposed to quantity for the folks at Silver Springs Ranch in Martinez. Refreshing to see and meet them today. I didn't buy anything but I will be back next Sunday grocery list in hand! read more

SMALLER THAN CONCORD'S, BIGGER THAN ORINDA'S Yelp has a note saying this location is closed until April 25th, but today is the 21st and they were open 10 to 2. We arrived about 1:45. It wasn't our plan to hit up a farmer's market but we saw the signs as we left the John Muir House and figured the end of the day is the best time for deals. Guess that's only true at the bigger Farmer's Markets, like the great one in Concord. It certainly was the end of the day and the sellers began to put their items away. Many of the greens seemed a little tired from spending their day in the sun. But I ended up spending almost $20. I supported 4 or 5 different farms, plus bought some falafel and the Mr. bought a $2 pastry. All in all, glad we stopped, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this market. read more

This is a great local farmers market in downtown Martinez. The vendors are very friendly. The fruits and veggies are so delicious, you don't need to do anything more than cook them. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 rating is that I wish there was just a few more vendors with a bit more variety like offering chicken, pork; more cheeses etc. A few more non food vendors would just take it over the top. I go every Sunday and do my shopping for the week. If I have to go to the grocery store you can really tell the difference in the quality (flavor) of the food. This farmers market has been steadily going down hill in the past 2 years. At present there are barely any vendors. The sellers themselves are friendly and accommodating. I believe it is the current management that is running this once cute little market into the ground. First the "Market Manager," neglects to treat people with a welcoming manner or basic kindness. He approached me today abruptly telling me that my dog had to be on the side walk. I moved to the sidewalk to accommodate the rule. I was going to purchase some pita beard but this interaction put a bad taste in my palette and I decided to leave instead. I walked on the sidewalk and re-entered the street where there were no not tables set up in order to approach my parked car. This is where the Market Manager aka Hall Monitor returns and shouts at me "you need to leave," "excuse me, I say." He reiterates that dogs need to be on the side walk. I point out to him that I'm well past we're the vendors end (sorry your turn out is so bad that there's empty lots : ( He shouts, "it does not matter, you need to leave now." I was walking slowing because I had major surgery that week and was still in a ton of pain. I pointed out my car and that I was basically leaving. And I told him that "he's a nice guy." He says that the place could get shut down for dogs (despite the fact that my dog and I were following the rules). This place will get shut down due to lack of vendors/turn out and the bigger problem of management who seeks every opportunity to harass potential costumers. I am a home owner who lives in Martinez, I will not be returning to this market despite the few but pleasant vendors, and will actively steer away my guests and friends due to hostile management. There is a way to approach and correct patrons in a respectful and not demeaning manner that would still endear them to your product. This guy's behavior has assured a loss in revenue. read more

We've been to this Market quite a few times. Such a cute downtown area with some cool antique shops & some of the best mom 'n' pop coffee shops! The Market itself is kind of small, and there's less variety than other local Markets. This one features mostly fresh food (fruits & veggies) as well as a some prepared/ hot food spots, bakery, pita chips, popcorn... but there aren't very many craft/ merchandise vendors. However, on my most recent visit, I did notice more variety than usual so maybe they're in the process of changing things up. I've witnessed a handful of concering behaviors with some vendors (handling money, then preparing food without swapping gloves! Like uuhhmm, the gloves aren't meant to shield your hands; they're meant to shield the food, silly!)... (or allowing customers to handle perishable goods, then accepting them back, yuck!), but I'm sure that isn't limited to THIS particular Farmer's Market. I just avoid those vendors now. It's not the biggest market but it has lots of organic produce with yummy samples. It's worth a stop by to try the Ohana Bros potato chips and see the adorable boutiques and coffee shops in Martinez. I'm surprised the Martinez Farmer's Market hasn't already been yelped. It's a cute little one-block long Farmer's Market right next to the Martinez Court House on Thursdays from 10am-2pm. It's a little smaller than the Pleasant Hill market, with some of the same fruit and veggie purveyors, plus flowers, tamales, BBQ and other goodies. On a hot day, Martinez can have a nice cooling breeze. If you've got kids in tow...get fresh goodies to supplement (or create) a picnic and walk to the nearby park (across the tracks, by the train station for lunch and playground time. If not, take a stroll through Martinez's downtown shops and antique stores while you're there. I was all stocked up on fruit....so came home with some beautiful tomatoes and fresh peas to eat raw as snacks and in salads. read more

The farmer's market is seasonal and the only one I am aware of is on Thursday's on Court St. in Martinez between Main and Escobar. There are a variety of produce vendors. Sometimes there is live music, but I have noticed that they are different almost every week. The bbq is a must try and you can smell it anywhere you are when your in the farmer's market. This is a great "small-town" farmers market. It has friendly vendors, with clean fresh produce which generally has a long shelf life for the week of use, as it's always a bummer to buy on the weekend at some markets & the spoilage starts Monday! They also keep their area's neat and clean. They have a lot of different products, for example, ranging from a meat vendor, an egg vendor, sauces, produce (of course!), a knife sharpening guy, cheeses, to pastries and so on, so there is plenty to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. We have been attending tis market almost every weekend and have noticed an increase of vendors selling. That's great news More choices mean great prices. Parking is also friendly and there is plenty of restaurants to get lunch or a cup of java and watch the crowd walk by or just enjoy the day. So go take a leisurely stroll and show your support for the vendors bringing us great fresh food products. We really like this Sunday market - there are a variety of vendors - and I am sorry I did not catch the names of all the stalls we shopped at - I recommend taking a quick walk around - it has moved from Main St to a nice square a few blocks off the main drag, follow signs - making shopping more convenient. We did stop at Dore Bakery - which has traditions in both French and German baking - offerings tend to dwindle at the end of the market but whatever is there is really fresh and good. We bought the reddest strawberries I have ever seen, picked this morning - and smelling and tasting like a strawberry conjured from memories - there are times when something is so fresh - it simply demolishes even your expectations. There was a plentiful supply of California's best apples, peaches, nectarines, grapes, apples, pears - and I have not even talked about the TOMATO STALL.... Vegetables - fresh salad mix, herbs - and local olive oil, vinegars, soaps, meats, and full meal items such as packaged homemade Bolani, and tamales. Plus it is a morning in Martinez, a bit of the old and new California sleepily rolled together with laid back people. We have always had a pleasant time in Martinez. read more

This is a small but enjoyable Farmer's market. It stretches across 2 City blocks in February and offered an assortment of booths from gourmet potato chips to pastries, from smoked salmon to delicious Cara Cara oranges. The market itself is frequented by bike riders, local shoppers, and the occasional tourist. This is not a huge farmer's market, but it's also not crowded so it feels relaxed. I will visit again to pick up a pineapple cream cheese turnover!! read more

I always go to this farmers market once a week. It has a great selection, everything is always delicious and everyone is really friendly! It definitely helps force me to eat healthier and eat more fresh fruits and veggies so they don't go bad. Plus, the prices and value are always way better than the stores that had their food shipped in from somewhere else! Just last week I left with some persimmons and plums that were bigger than my fist! You can get there, stop into Starbucks and then start browsing through all the stands. Cobblestone Bakery has amazing croissants and cannolis, the fruit stands always have something new and sweet to to try and there's a salami vendor that has the creamiest salami I've ever had. The Martinez Farmers Market is awesome! My wife, kids, and myself go here just about every weekend especially during the summer time when the weather is beautiful. The fresh vegetables and fruits that the vendors sell are always so delicious. We enjoy walking down there (not far from our house) and listening to the live music when they have it, my son loves to dance. I love the sunday farmer's market! it's pretty small (one block) in the winter but in the summer it's a lot larger. Quite a few organic vendors now as well. I bribe the kids to go with me by promising kettle corn, and my husband by promising the 3-for-$5 pastry, but my favorite non-product sellers are the hummus guys and delicia's falafel, which is probably the best falafel sandwich i've had in my entire life (get the spicy). read more

I love our farmers market! I take my 2 young daughters with me almost every Sunday morning, it isn't too big which I love because I don't feel over whelmed or lost. Great variety of fruits, veggies, nuts, baked goods, eggs, honey, and so much more. Pardon me for having issues with buying grapes from Chile and apples from New Zealand. I mean we live in California, there's no excuse not to shop at your local farmers' market. This is why over the years I've gravitated toward my local farmers' markets. Why wouldn't you? The Martinez Farmers' market is smaller, but it actually has grown over the last couple of years. Our go to spots are the granola stand (best granola EVER), the egg vendor and the certified organic produce vendor. There are a number of baked good stands too (of course I've sampled a few). Overall it's a great way to fill your produce needs for the week. There is no denying farmers' market produce tastes fresher and better than grocery store produce. Every time I'm in town I make it a point to come here. Love the atmosphere and the lady who makes falafels is amazing! They are so yummy! I also make sure to stock up on my honey while i'm here.
