This place was great, the bar staff and DJ were great as well. However, some of the locals walking were a bit too tipsy and they were getting too friendly and disrespectful towards our wives after several times telling the local drunk that they were there with their husbands. The locals were still very aggressive towards us as if we were the ones being disrespectful. Before things got out of hand I had to approach those who were making the setting uncomfortable to know that we were just here having a good time. Things were okay. I live in the area and I would expect this kinda of behavior from the city but not from a suburban bar. C'mon on now, We were in search of a local bar that we could have a good time at. I was not expecting this type of behavior. To top it off I tipped in cash and left a tip on my cc cause the bartenders were good. Prarie Station Pub... oh how many times I've passed thee, since the days of my youth three decades ago, and never ventured in... no more! A friend and I finally stopped in for a drink and a catch up. Originally I went inside, which is pretty divey... ok, the whole place is divey (full disclosure: I like divey!). But we ended up going out back to their beer garden. It wasn't busy when we were there (weekday evening) so we were able to enjoy a nice and chill atmosphere. The drinks are relatively cheap and the staff was friendly to us the whole time - what more could you ask for from a dive bar?! While I can't say that it is like this all the time (I honestly wonder what Friday & Saturday nights are like...) I can say that we enjoyed ourselves. In the future I don't think I'll be rushing back here, but this was by no means my only visit to Prairie Station Pub. read more

Doesn't look like much on the outside, but the staff is great, the drinks are strong and cold as they should be, and the prices are reasonable, They do Karaoke a few times a week, the food is fresh and well prepared/tasty, plus they also have an outdoor area with some fun board games and bags setup to play with locals and friends. Just moved to Bartlett and my husband and I decided to check this place out. There was a very suspicious crowd. The bartenders were rude (they spent their time talking to other customers while we waited for 10 minutes). We had one drink paid cash and left. I told my friend that used to live in the area about the uncomfortable experience and he explained to me how they are selling drugs throughout the place. Even one of the security guards was on the news for killing a family. I don't know who runs this place, but clearly they don't take their customers, satisfaction and safety as a priority. I will make sure I do not ever recommend anyone going to this hole in the wall. I'd rather go to a trailer park. read more

This place blows! Bartender walked past me numerous times. She even looked at me a couple of times as I held a $20 bill out, but didn't stop or say anything. Waited long enough to say fuck this place. Sure, the place had patrons but wasn't that busy she couldn't stop or at least tell me she'd be with me in a moment. You'd think that being there was a street festival right on the street in front of the pub they'd have another bartender with the expectation of more patrons from the fest. And then my girl was playing video slots in the other room. I went to get her so we could go. In the time I waited for even an acknowledgment, she lost almost $30. So she went to cash out her $0.49 voucher. The machine said it was too many bills or coins to cash out. Are you f'n kidding me? I should have listened to our friend who said to never go there. I've seen Prairie Station Pub a number of times, as I take the train from the train station close by. We decided to venture in for the first time tonight. Will most likely be the last and only time. Went in around 7:30 PM on a Tuesday night. When we first arrived, we were the only ones in the bar area. We gave our order of an appetizer, a couple of cheeseburgers, a beer and a glass of club soda. The burgers came out, but no appetizer. Reminded the bartender about the appetizer, which then came out overcooked, but cold at the same time. My wife's burger was cold in the middle. After we finished eating, went to the bar and asked for the check. Had to have the Tito's taken off the bill, because we didn't order it. Won't be going back. read more

Cheap beers, chill atmosphere, can get packed on weekends! I went here as a stop on a train crawl and had a few beers with my friends. Three beers ran me $11.50 so they weren't badly priced at all. One weird thing is they needed my pin for a bank credit card transaction. Also you have to tell them your tip at purchase time instead of privately writing it down. Stopped in several times and had little to no problems until I was confronted by some little pushy Indian dude towards closing. He shows up while we're ending our game of pool( we were playing for drinks) and accuses us "gambling".. He and i get into a shouting match over his lack of proper people skills and while he screams how much he doesn't give a f*** and he doesn't want to lose his gambling license..Oh! To me, it seems like they have karaoke every night, and if you suck at it, you're more than welcome.. well more to the point, encouraged. It may look like a biker bar from the outside, but it is a helluvalot of fun. There's an enclosed smoking area in the back for all us nicotine addicts, a backyard for bags and such for warmer weather, a scratch 'n win lotto machine inside, a pool table, darts, what more could you want??? I am bummed to see some bad reviews on Yelp. I had a great time! It was karaoke night. The bar was busy and had a good vibe. A neighborhood bar. Definitely some regulars there but everyone was friendly. The bartenders Amber and Caitlyn (sp?) were prompt and nice. The drink prices are fair and good drink specials. We didn't order any food. I would like to go back when the weather is nicer and hangout in the back bar. read more

Love this place... First time I came in I was surprised at how friendly people are here. In the back bar there were some people playing a bowling game and some people sitting at the bar and every single person said hello. Since then every time I come here I get the same feeling. The owner always greets everyone, Danny, one of their bartenders always goes out of his way to say hello and let you know he's glad you're back. They throw a great customer appreciation party. Okay, where to begin... well, before I berate this place with all of its discrepancies I will say that it is a very one-of-a-kind bar. It has a very different look from other bars and interesting layout. That being said, the pool table was very sketchy. They had an outdoor bar area. Unfortunately, after buying drinks inside the main bar you are not allowed to take them to the outside bar patio. This would have been good to know prior to purchasing our drinks or have a legal walkway to access the bar patio. Customer service was poor. The best thing about this place might not be the place itself or the drinks, but the people and crowd that goes here. read more

This place is neat! Can't believe I'm first! It's a cozy little pub in a neat old house-like building. They got a nice patio out back, with a covered section and an open area for tossing beanbags. Place has a really cool fire station theme. Staff is super-nice and friendly. My folks decided to have my mom's 60th birthday celebration here and the owner (sorry, can't remember his name!) could not have been more helpful, friendly and accomodating. He kept reiterating that my parents didn't need to worry about anything but having fun, and he was right. He put out a buffet that was, for a little pub, a really good meal! He let us bring our own champagne. My dad's band sounded great. The owner did say that he was not going to tell his regulars they couldn't sit at the bar out back, but that they wouldn't interrupt our good time, and it was fine. They were all totally chill, and no one tried to swipe our food - some of them even came out to dance! I was really surprised to find such a cozy, quirky, good-time spot out in Hanover Park. Seems like a great hangout, and definitely a great place to rent out for a party! Aces in my book. read more

In all fairness the Prairie Station pub is one hell of a craphole. No big selection of drinks, a few dishes that are fairly good - and in every other pub that would be a death sentence. But Prairie Station is not your average pub - it is a karaoke place and one of the best karaoke places in Chicagoland - if you care for such things! During the day it is a pretty boring location - just a few TVs located so that people only at the bar can watch them - but come 8 in the evening and the regular crowd comes in! The ones with mighty voice and the ones without one, all of them good singers and a cheerful crowd. And then all those things I wrote above turn out to be silly and meaningless - because if you sing along (and drinking along!) a visit to Prairie Station pub could easily be one of your best experiences of all! PS Do not be afraid to loose your karaoke virginity - you will get support aplenty there! read more

Prairie Station Pub... i know we just met but I think I love you. I wanted to sing some karaoke soooo bad and couldn't find anything on Sat nights nearby Bolingbrook where I was staying so I searched the world wide interweb and found this gem. (Mind you it was a 45 minute drive but it was totally worth it.) It was inhabited by real people, regulars, everyday folks who each have something special and wonderful and unique to offer this world: There was Denny, who looks like a 90s stoner (ala Jay and Silent Bob) and yet has the sweetest voice you've ever heard, Hef (aka "cheese and pepperoni") another vocally blessed individual who told of his days in the 80's as a roadie for a band called "Bitch" (whose claim to fame was opening up for U2 one night in Cleveland), Ice Man was a sweet gruff voiced retired Elvis impersonator, there was Deb in tight black jeans who I had the pleasure of forcing onto the stage for the first time... yup I popped her karaoke cherry to the tune of Bob Segers "Turn the Page". And I made friends with Olga from Latvia who is soon to be my newest BFBF (Best facebook friend,) a dude named Cowboy Jim, karaoke was hosted by a seriously sweet and seriously talented chick called Babs... They were all amazing. They had a huge selection of songs and best of all, I felt so welcomed and right at home. If I lived here I'd be here every weekend and these people would be like family. I walked in Saturday around noon. The bar had a handful of older regulars handing out and talking. I ordered a watermelon spritzer and walked out to the patio. It had lots of seating and even a bean bag game. It was all empty except for me out there. I feel like this bar would be nicer and busier if it was located somewhere else....it had a Naperville Peanuts vibe, but without the amazing location or young people. Went there for lunch on a Monday. The place was completely empty, really quiet, no music or anything. Service was friendly, but that was about the only redeeming quality. The three of us all ordered hamburgers. They were cold. Not lukewarm, but actually cold. Luckily the fries were warm. We asked the server what their specialty was. The owner is a jerk to the customers and his staff. Guess that's why the bartenders don't stay long. He actually argued with me about who owners the place I've worked at for years. Pretty sure he cheats his bartenders on their tips too; makes them wait a week before they can get the credit card ones & withholds taxes on them but doesn't account for it on the check. Came in here for drinks and a place to watch the rest of the game after dinner over the weekend, and found a wonderful, classy dive bar. I'm almost 30 and I'm the youngest person here on this Saturday night by what looks like 15-20 years. The people that aren't in my "younger" group are ok but very judgmental about the songs you sing...if it's not a Beatles or skynard song they think you are dumb with very few exceptions. Cheap drinks yes but you can get better service elsewhere for the small price difference. I get there are a lot of 5 star reviews ...it's what suckered me in but most of them are from the workers/regulars. Also the patio and bag and horse shoe games mentioned In the other "reviews" are owned by the same owner but considered a different bar so taking the 3 steps from the one section to the other you are warned you could be ticketed/arrested if you take a beer from one to the other. Last tid bit...although it's true when the other reviews say that even though it looks like a biker bar that it's not ... You get the same judgement from the patrons and workers as if it were plus it's very very cramped and last time I say this but I must again mention it's no place for anyone who relates to the under 40 crowd. Not great karaoke even though is held on a Saturday. I guess to make a judgement on any place from one visit isn't completely fair but this is what I have to say based on our visit on 08/01/2015 a Saturday night. read more

Where has this gem been hidden? We went last night with a few friends and had a blast! It's small and cozy, which makes the karaoke even better (yes, every wed, fri, & sat night) The bartenders were great - so friendly! Beer prices were cheap. They also have a great beer garden - but it is completely separated from the main bar. We went there looking for a fun dive bar experience and were not let down. We'll definitely be back! read more

Few things I like and hate about this bar. The good, most of the bartenders are nice, but the class of people is a little less than desirable, but still nice. The problem is the Liquor, taste a little watered down in my opinion, not that I expected too much, but for a dirty, old bar, I guess it is what it is. Bugs and cleanliness seem to be an issue. Draft beers look like they are served in re-washed plastic cups, dirt, dust....just don't trust it. I would not recommend this place unless you are desperate, or just want to trash it - its half way there anyway. read more

Awesome little bar. My wife & I stopped in here after a being in the area at a family party. We decided to stop and have a beer on a Sunday afternoon and were really surprised by how much "Fun" was being had on a Sunday. A fun/crazy crowd playing great music on the jukebox. The bartender was awesome as well. He was really friendly and even shook my hand after we closed out. It really made an impression on us and whenever we're visiting my sister we will definitely stop by this place for a drink! read more
