Food Outstanding! Ambiance was beautiful. Really attractive looking place. Service was not so good. The female bartender was great. After serving me a drink already, my father in law walked in and while the bartender was busy in the back I asked the manager if he could get me another drink. The manager made me go get my father in law before serving it. Didn't look at his ID because he was obviously older than me, who already was drinking my beer. Then the male waitor was quite rude and wouldn't allow me to order my second drink until I finished my first. So I immediately pouded it right in front of him. He took so long to get me my second drink, that I could have just casually drank it instead. I've never been told that I can't order a second drink while enjoying my first one. The waitor really negatively impacted my experience and their rules for alcoholic beverages are horrid. I will try my hardest to never go there again. Food was super tasty though. read more

Stopped in for a dinner here this evening. Food menu had a wide variety of many different items from burgers, pasta, pizza and seafood. Was not sure what to prefer but definitely wanted to try a martini! Had the watermelon martini and it did not disappoint! Had a salad for dinner and hub had the Ruben. Michelle our server was very good and gave suggestions for the menu. They are open on Monday nights! The ambiance is ok with a bar over 21 with high tops and a family dining area with tables and booths. Food was good and it was pleasantly quiet, but was a Monday evening. SERVICE- My mom wanted to sit at a table but they made us sit at the bar. Yet it still took at least 5 minutes before we got our drinks. We had to occasionally wait to ask for items such as plates for the appetizers. DRINKS- Old, sour, flat beer. Maybe the keg lines need to get cleaned out? Maybe the beer is just old? I don't know what it is but it just didn't taste right on tap or even in the can. Had a pungent with no carbonation taste to it. At least my mom liked her red wine. FOOD- Overall just alright and average. Seems to be a hit or miss. Calamari- Rubbery and hard to chew. I think it was over cooked Oysters Rockefeller- Tasted like a puke ball. There was only 5 of them. I couldn't even taste the Oysters as it was overwhelmed by other flavors. Tasted like buttery breadcrumbs. Chicken Noodle soup- Was told it is the "best" in Porter County. I got a cup. It was good but only half way filled. I think it needed more chicken. Chicken Parmesan- Sauce could have been better. Pasta was good Sausage and Mushroom Pizza- Thick raw crust on the bottom! Doughy and frozen pizza quality. The pizza looked good on the top but the crust on the bottom tasted raw and mushy. My brother said it was worse the a veggie lasagna from Gordon Food Service which we never even finished eating all of it. PRICE- Over priced for a "fancy" higher class restaurant. The bill was $95 for 2 appetizers, 2 entries and 4 beers and 2 glass of wine. How can this be a scratch kitchen with such a wide and diversified menu? read more

This is a favorite place of hours. Good food and good drinks. The owners are so nice and welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive. It can sometimes get crowded, but there's plenty of seating with dining, bar tops, the bar, and even outside seating. Cheers from the Guinness Couple! read more

We walked into the front door and came upon a sign that said "please see hosts for seating", with an arrow pointing to the family side of the restaurant. Since we were eating in the bar side. we thought that we didn't have to have a host seat us as a lot of the times, the bar is self seating. We sit down and the host slowly strolls to our table and informs us that we were not supposed to seat ourselves and that their protocol was for people to see the host/ess and be seated at the bar and wait until their turn to be seated at a table. Seriously!? There was absolutely no line waiting for a table. The bar had three tables seated. The host was rather disgusted with us, and I explained that we didn't know that we had to see the hostess as the arrow pointed to the family dining and not to the bar. There was absolutely no reason for him to come to our table and make a point of saying we need to wait for the hostess. He was rude and condescending. I would have left but my husband didn't feel the need to leave. I would have given this place a zero if it weren't for the rest of the staff who were exceptional and our food was good. Such a sweet spot. Their patio area is quite nice. We didn't eat on the patio but it was nicely done. The service is pretty amazing. Our server was cute and so personable. We ordered the Flaming Saganaki. She lit the cheese table side and it was so very cool. Again. I'm sure a lot of it had to do with her own little personality. The saganaki came with pita bread. Quickly seated. Friendly-- wait staff took order- then crickets. Finally tea- cloudy and tasted instant. Appetizer- crab cake- have no idea what it was coated with- but bland. Came here for dinner on Saturday night with my mom. We sat on the lounge side, which was nicely decorated with party decor for their anniversary. We first started off with drinks. I got the caramel apple sangria, which was pretty good. Drink came with a cinnamon stick and was in a good size portion glass. The waitress brought us some hot rolls and butter. Next, came our soup/salads. I got the lemon rice soup, which came in a good size bowl and had some good size chicken pieces. Then, our entree came out. I had the roman crusted chicken that came with mashed potatoes. The chicken was so good! It came smothered in Ceasar dressing, parmesan cheese, and seasoning that made some nice crunchy bits (like a tempera). I could only eat part of my chicken and was able to take the rest home. Overall, we had a great experience and really enjoyed our meal! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. There are so many good options on the menu for everyone. I will definitely be back soon! OMG we had the most amazing dinner in Valparaiso. Totally didn't know what to expect but wow. Pictures don't do it justice but it was great. My wife had the lobster ravioli with shrimp. She couldn't believe how much lobster. I had the special short rib pasta. OMG there was so much and it was so tasty and tender. We also had the homemade deserts of Ekmec which was so great and light. We also had the chocolate mousse tart with raspberry and so rich but again light. The owners Sophie and Louie came out and hung out and the service from Ashley was top notch. If you ever find yourself near Valpo you have to stop by Martini's. I would even say if you are anywhere in the general vicinity say an hour or two it would be worth the trip. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. It was a super windy day so we sat inside. It was busy but not too as we were seated quickly. My husband had the chicken Parmesan and I had the gnocchi with sausage pesto sauce and a wedge salad. My husband enjoyed his meal. I was disappointed with mine. The bleu cheese and the dressing on the salad were very bland. The gnocchi themselves tasted like salt & pepper. There was so little pesto that I would not have known it was supposed to be part of the dish. The sausage was just ok but i did eat it as I left most of the pasta. I might would come here again but I would not recommend the dish I got. read more

My husband and I were in the Valpo area yesterday and decided to go to Martini's....what a mistake! Ordered cup of beef veg soup...terrible, no flavor...salt pepper and crackers didn't even help Ordered three appetizers, Arancini, Pork Bites and Crab Cakes. All three were subpar at best! Ordered two desserts, which we got to go. Carrot cake was ok, but the Baklava was hard as a brick, you couldn't even cut it with a steak knife!! It was inedible! Now for the best part, the watered down drinks! We asked for absolute martini, no vermouth, no olives or lemon So basically, vodka shaken with ice and poured in a glass. Imagine our SHOCK when the bill came, they charged us $25 per drink! We have NEVER paid anything close to that at fine dining restaurants, which Martini's is not! We questioned the price with our waitress, who seemed a little surprised at the price too. She took the bill and said she would check on it. When she came back to the table, she said No, that's the correct price. We will never go back there again! $165 bill, for a cup of soup, 3 appetizers, 2 desserts to go, one of which was inedible and landed in the garbage, and 4 drinks None of it was good! After thinking about this more, it seems to me that they knew we were not locals, and definitely OVERCHARGED for their watered down drinks!!!! read more

I love Martini's! The food is so good and the salad bar is back! The servers are all so friendly and helpful. They always go out of their way to insure you have an excellent experience! I ordered the spaghetti and ate every bite! So flavorful! So satisfying! Can't wait to eat there again....to try a different Italian dish! There were quite a few patrons for lunch that day, but the noise level was not overwhelming. We were relaxed and enjoying ourselves. You know we will return! read more

This was one of our favorite spots to meet up with family. It has been a special occasion restaurant and it used to be a Sunday brunch restaurant. This last time we went will unfortunately be our last time. The time before this we could tell they were slipping on some items but maybe just having a bad chef day. The absolute last time we went, me and my mom got just appetizers: crab cakes, mussels, feta with sesame seeds and honey and the crab fondue. Except for the feta cheese item, we have had them all before several times and they were always delicious. These were not at all. They tasted like a completely different chef made these with completely different recipes. My aunt ordered stuffed mushrooms and an order of French fries. The mushrooms were inedible...really. My one cousin ordered a blackened chicken sandwich that was just blah. My other cousin ordered the portobello filet medallions and she loved it sooo? We explained to the waitress what the issue was with everything, thinking a manager would come over to talk to us but nobody did. And then she gave us the check with no discount or anything. We were all very disappointed, except the cousin with the filet medallions, and sadly, we now have to pick another restaurant to meet. Oh, the best part of the whole visit? Two of us had the small wedge which was delicious ( I would have the dressing on the side next time) Bloody Mary came with a bacon strip, a pickle and a pepper. Average. The Greek pork chops are huge and delicious as was the roman crusted chicken (Have a second meal with those) and the blackened chicken melt was also large and delicious. We visited this restaurant on July 16, 2024. In our party was a person with a physical disability who had not been out for a meal in over 18 months. When we requested a different chair for her, we were told that this particular table had matching chairs and a different chair could not be used at it. The guest was very uncomfortable in the chair that was offered. The service was good; food also good. We were all astonished that this patron was denied a different chair. My only gripe is that everything we ordered seemed to be missing any seasoning whatsoever..strange. The owner/manager and our server went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Avoid this place at all costs if you have a large group. The manager could not have been more put out that we wanted to dine there. We were more than willing to wait. Things got worse when the waitress was clearly equally annoyed that she had to serve a large group of nine. Was asked jovially to please start at the other side of the table and take orders. She was very rude and just talked over the requester. The food took an hour and a half to show up at the table. The food was good quality. However, the time from when the first entrees arrived to the last one arriving was about twenty minutes. Many in the group had to sit and watch those that got served. The waitress continued to express the most pretentious fake niceness. She clearly did not care about doing a good job because she already knew gratuity was automatically going to be included. I have seldom ever felt like I was being such a burden to even be served in my life. Please avoid this restaurant at all costs if you have a group over four people. I was on an Alaskan cruise recently where they had a Martini Bar and absolutely loved the different drinks. I had no idea that there would so many different ways to make martinis. So... I googled if there were any martini bars in my area and Martinis came up. I had the banana split martini and it was fabulous. We ordered wings for appetizer and they were delicious.
