Martin's is the locally grown, owned and based biscuit spot here in Atlanta with the headquarters based not too far down the road in Mableton! This particular location sits on Austell Road at the corner of Floyd Road. Technically not in the Farmers Market lot, it is essentially connected and the FM is a solid landmark to know you are really close to some sweet biscuits! While Martin's staples are breakfast items, especially biscuits they do dabble in other items such as burgers and a few other sandwich varieties. Again, biscuits are the thing at Martin's and they have no shortage of choices! My personal favorite is the Steak biscuit. Depending on my mood, I will get it plain or get the Steak Gravy biscuit. Both are pretty great! I always side my biscuits with either hashbrowns or cheese grits. The hashbrowns are standard patty style, but are larger than some other fast food chains. A few other things they throw between a biscuit are pork tenderloin, smoked sausage, chicken, country ham and of course the classics of sausage, bacon and egg. While I have never had the lunch items, they do serve burgers, chicken/pork/steak sammies along and hot dogs. They have the normal sides of fries and onion rings, but also offer slaw. And if you want dessert, snatch you up an apple pie! The biscuits are really well priced and come in either small or large. Are the biscuits the best I have ever had? No, but are they pretty dang good? Yup! The biscuits are always hot and fluffy while the protein of my choice is always well portioned and filling! Also, I do enjoy their sweet tea...true southern SWEET tea to wash that biscuit down with! They operate until 2:00 PM each day, and if you happen to visit on a weekend, be prepared for a LOOOOOOONG drive thru line, but it moves pretty quickly! Environment - customer service was good. The menu is very self explanatory. The condition of the place is ok but it is a bit dingy and old looking. Its not a hole in the wall but it is not amazing environment. You can do drive thru or dine in. The dining area was clean. Food- I got a chicken biscuit sandwich and then I got a biscuit n gravy to share with my husband. My husband got the sausage eggs n cheese biscuit. His sandwich was good. The chicken sandwich was good, not the best I ever had but I would eat again. The sausage n biscuit is not good, the gravy is very thick and not flavorful. I'm very pleased with Martin's. I've pass by this place almost every day I go out of the house. And after 5 years, I finally decided to come by and try out their food. I'll be honest, I had low expectations. I don't know why. I just wasn't expecting much. When I first came here, the drive through was packed. I was lucky to find a parking spot and ordered. They were so sweet in answering all of our questions. Yo, the prices of the biscuits here are so good. It is almost dangerous how easily affordable it is. Their buttermilk biscuits are made from scratch and it is delicious. Their hash browns are pretty good. And after my breakfast, I almost went into a food coma. I didn't feel as gross after eating here. How does it compare to Chik-fil-A. I prefer here more than Chik-fil-A. They have the southern charm, but they don't lay it on thick. It doesn't feel forced. My daughter brought me one of their biscuits one day and I thought it was huge and delicious. I decided to go myself a few days later and my appetite was spoiled for them. I ordered my food and while paying at the window, I was able to get a glimpse of their kitchen area and floors. There was trash and food everywhere. It was so disgusting. Drive through wait was also ridiculous. I like their biscuits but the store is nasty and unhygienic. You can't eat at everybody house and now I will add everybody restaurant. Martins is a solid fast food breakfast joint. They have some of the biggest and best buttermilk biscuits I have ever had. Their chicken biscuits are better than chick fila in my opinion. You have 2 size biscuits to choose from here the small which is the size of everyone's else's biscuits and then you have the large. The large is twice as big as the small, trust me you want to get the large. Every biscuit combination they have is very good and worth trying, but my 3 favorite are the chicken biscuit, the bacon egg and cheese biscuit, and the sausage gravy biscuit (knife and fork only). They are open until 2 and serve a pretty good lunch too, try the onion rings. Martin's Fresh Tastes Best is an old fast food chain based out of Austell. In fact, their corporate office is 5 minutes from my house. They've been here since the 60's. It seems like a local hit, and they seem famous for their biscuits. Even Mark Arum, the radio personality, claimed they have great biscuits. Just like Chick Fil' A, which also started in Georgia, they put on the Southern charm. The employee I talked to seemed friendly and nice. She did look surprised when we told her we've never been to a Martin's before. So she discussed the menu at length to us. Even though the employees seem pleasant, they are not SUPER friendly like Chick Fil' A. Chick Fil' A lays it on thick. The people at Martin's seem just friendly. I think Martin's should follow Chick Fil' A's model and lay on the Southern charm thicker. Like I mentioned, the biscuits seem like their specialty. They offer a lot of biscuit sandwiches such as sausage, chicken, pork tenderloin, and others. They also have regular sandwiches, hotdogs, and burgers. They offer two sizes for their biscuit sandwiches: small and large. The large is pretty big. Two will fill me up. And they're cheap. They cost between $1-$3 each. So it doesn't seem like a bad deal. I had their chicken and egg biscuit sandwich. Their biscuits are made from scratch. It tasted pretty good. It was nice and fluffy and had a good taste to it. I think it tasted just as good or even better than Chick Fil' A breakfast biscuits. Except, you can order it anytime, not just in the mornings. Their hotdogs are nothing to write home about. It's just a hotdog on a bun. The chili had a decent spice to it. But it's nothing special. It's tiny and the ingredients looked like they came from the supermarket. I would avoid the hotdogs and just go for the biscuits. Their fries tasted like normal fast-food fries. They had a nice crunch to it. It didn't seem soggy. It was decent. This place seems like a decent fast food chain. Also since this is a fast food chain with a Southern theme, don't expect anything healthy from this place. I can remember not being so impressed back in the day (co-worker and I disagreed BIGTIME) , so I wanted to see if anything's changed. The Good: It does have a fresh taste to it, as in I don't think it's frozen biscuits in a bag, but I don't know how they make it, really. It's HOT, obviously just made. After having hearing great things about Martins, especially from a colleague who eats there every morning, I decided I had to try this place out. I walked in abt 1pm and the restaurant was empty except for one table of older adults chatting- no big deal! The dining room looked pretty clean- good! I started looking at the menu and was offered help for a nice lady who took the time to give her opinion on a few if the items. As I walked up closer to the counter, I noticed she was covered in flour. This place is "serviceable" at best. This place does not have the best chicken biscuit as I've had better at a gas station. While slightly better, my steak biscuit seemed to be a chopped cubed steak patty thrown into a biscuit. Found myself in Cobb County with a man that knows Cobb like the back of his hand. I had mentioned I'd never been to a martins before, and since we passed two in 15 mins we decided today would be the day. Word of mouth and ajc.com informed me I needed to try the chicken biscuit. I was there around 2:30 and didn't think I could get a biscuit so I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Even though my chicken wasn't hot it was tasty. When served hot and on a biscuit I could see how it would be better than CFA. Besides being lukewarm the sandwich also had an unexpected smear of mayo. After waiting over an hour to complete my fasting blood work at the Austell VA Clinic, I was starving!!! Usually I go to another close by place for breakfast, but thanks to Yelp I discovered this place (despite passing it for 10 years). One review said the chicken biscuit was better than CFA, and they were right! Biscuits are wonderful also. Remember this is a fast food place, so the chicken was a little greasy but fresh made. Personally I don't mind the grease... Just glad my blood work is finished! You also know you stumbled on a great place when it is filled with locals, mostly over 65. A van from a senior home pulled up while I was here and dropped off 10 people. You know something has to work when that happens! Grossest place I have ever set foot in. Needs a health inspection stat. I had heard good things about this place and wanted to check it out..Not such a good idea. Highly rude employees, trash EVERY where, garbage overflowing, tables dirty. When you go to this place you can't see the dining room right off hand, if I had seen how disgusting it was before ordering I would have walked out immediately. We ordered and it took forever, when we finally got our food, the cashier tossed the receipt directly on top of the food and was floating in the gravy of my gravy biscuit. Needless to say I did not eat it. The service was so bad that another customer who had been waiting in the drive through came inside and started screaming and yelling dirty words about not getting his order yet. I was worried any second he was going to go ballistic on everyone. Can't understand why anybody gave this place a good review, one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had.
