    Fried fish and dirty rice
    Selena J.

My husband and I visited Auntie's in Smyrna for the first time about three weeks ago before one of our dance classes, and our experience was outstanding. In fact, it was so good that we made a point to come back. The first visit was memorable from the moment the food arrived. I don't normally eat cornbread, but their cornbread was some of the best I've ever had. I ordered the fried fish with dirty rice, and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the fried fish with fries and vegetables, and everything was excellent. We left impressed and excited to return. Unfortunately, our second visit was very different. We returned for lunch before a business meeting with our daughter. My daughter ordered the shrimp and grits, my husband ordered the fried fish and fries again, and I ordered fried fish with grits. I specifically requested that my fish be served on the side rather than on top of the grits. When the plate arrived, it appeared that the fish had simply been removed from the grits, as one side was still covered with them. I politely brought it to the server's attention. The fish was taken back and returned a few moments later, but it appeared the same fish had simply been re-fried, resulting in an overcooked, greasy piece of fish. At that point, I chose not to make a scene. As a business owner myself, I understand the challenges that come with operating a small business, especially in the restaurant industry. I quietly spoke with our server, who was kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic throughout the entire experience. Unfortunately, the issues continued. My grits were cold, and my daughter's shrimp and grits were also cold and lacked flavor. She chose not to send hers back because she felt it would not improve the situation. My husband's meal was the only one that seemed consistent with our previous visit. What stood out to me most was our server's effort. She truly tried to make things right and remained pleasant despite what appeared to be challenges happening behind the scenes. She even offered to have another meal prepared for me, and I appreciated her willingness to help. By that point, however, we were running late for our business meeting and had to take the replacement meal to go. Even the cornbread, which had been a highlight of our first visit, was disappointing this time. It was served cold with cold butter on top, which was a stark contrast to the fresh, delicious cornbread we had enjoyed just weeks earlier. I hate leaving anything that could be viewed as a negative review because I genuinely want local businesses to succeed. My first experience showed me what Auntie's is capable of, which is why the second visit was so disappointing. This review is not meant to tear down the restaurant but rather to provide constructive feedback. The biggest concern was consistency. Great food brings customers back, but consistency keeps them coming back. I hope management takes a close look at food quality, kitchen execution, and staffing needs so that every guest receives the same experience that made us fall in love with the restaurant on our first visit. Based on our first visit, I know this restaurant can be excellent. I truly hope they can return to that standard because there is a lot of potential here.

Peach Cobbler with a Carmel glaze

All I can say is to the chef. Everything was absolutely delicious. The food is "Memorable " The oysters were . The mashed potatoes were super creamy and the creole crawfish sauce was amazing. Now you have to order the peach cobbler. Chef didn't say it has Carmel glaze on it that takes it to another atmosphere. Oh and the music was a vibe too

I ordered takeout from Auntie's Kitchen and got the jerk wings, catfish, and cornbread and everything was really good. The jerk wings had a nice kick to them without being overwhelming, super flavorful and cooked well. The catfish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, not greasy at all which I appreciated. Cornbread was soft, slightly sweet, and a perfect side to balance everything out. They even added a little handwritten note which was a nice touch and made the whole experience feel more personal. Overall, really solid comfort food with great flavor. I'd definitely order again.

We decided to try aunties on Juneteenth and it was great! We got quite the spread... catfish, rice, salad, fries, corn bread.. all pretty good! The service was fast and polite. Funky atmosphere with lots of art! Outdoor seating is available. The food was great, my husband didn't really care for the rice and gravy.

Walked in and was promptly greeted and seated. Our waitress, Mariah, didn't rush us and even provided good recommendations. We started with the lavender Kool-Aid. I recommend pairing it with the vanilla vodka. What I didn't understand was why it didn't come mixed but I digress. For apps we got the soul rolls and wings. The wings are whole wings love it!! I would just say need to add more of the sauce. The soul rolls were different but good. My friend got the catfish punch a train he said it was good but not much if any crawfish in the sauce. I had the shrimp and grits and added the fish. The seafood was good but I felt something was missing from the grits but they weren't bad. Ended with the peach cobbler. That's a nice sharing size!! Overall, good experience i would recommend. Place had good vibes and music.

The bestie and I pulled up for dinner here on Valentine's day. It's a very cozy atmosphere with odes to the OGs we grew up with. They have a menu filled with soulfood classics (it's hard to pick) and their drink menu was decent too. Our server was nice and patient with my questions about the menu. The Lavendar Cool Aid caught my attention, so I got it with a side of gin along side the steak & mash potatoes. My gf ordered their corn bread as an appetizer and the lambchops. We were both satisfied with our food and would come back. Something worth reiterating: they close at 10pm on Saturdays too.

Wow! There has really been a restaurant that I went into where the food exceeded my expectations as much as it did at Auntie house! Everything we got was scrumptious. Including the appetizer and two main dishes. The service was really good from T! She gave us great recommendations. I even trusted her to pick my meal and she did not disappoint. The ambience was cool with sports playing on the TV, which added a nice element. If I lived in the area they would get my money frequently with how delicious everything was.

Shayla, my Dear, Bless you for the quick yet amazing service while I waited for my Daughter to pick me up. I carpool with a classmate, and this has become my meet-up spot. The name says it all...Hi Auntie! I ordered some appetizers to go - the delicious Brussel Sprouts and General Tso Cauliflower tossed lightly with Sriracha sauce, one of the best versions thus far. Yet, the menu offers a great blend of Cajun/Creole and Caribbean cuisine. The naming of the food is jovial: "Soul Roll" Egg Rolls "Give Em' The Blues" - Blue crab, boiled and sautéed Omelette You Finish The atmosphere is overly inviting and cozy, even with the full bar (fancy decor and craft cocktails) and TVs. Yet, you still feel the sense of being in one of your Auntie's houses and neighbors stopping by to visit. I eyed other customers' plates, and I could see the vibrant culinary twist on good ol' fashion soul/comfort food. The creation and aroma (yes, my nose was smelling too) really set it off. Such an easy price point for the portions. They offer specials Monday-Thursdays, with catering and special events services. You can make reservations via their website - Google. Auntie has a NYE event coming up from 11A - 10P. I'll definitely be back next week after class, and will have my Daughter pick up a little later so I can dine in and enjoy the full experience...I may let her join - smile. Excited to become a regular.

    Salmon with potatoes and broccolini

My mom and I decided to stop at Aunties House for lunch yesterday since we were in the area. We were originally going to JR Crickets next door, but changed our minds and I'm glad we did because the food was sooooo good. I was surprised when we walked in the restaurant that it was empty except for 1 other patron dining in. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with modern decor and a nicely stocked bar. They also have a small patio on the side of the building. The server greeted us warmly and gave us some recommendations. I went with the blackened salmon and my mom had the fish and chips. We were both blown away from the flavors. My mom loves catfish and she said this is one of her top catfish meals she's had in her life and she's eaten a lot of it lol. The salmon had a garlic butter sauce on it that was so good I had to ask for some to go. The salmon came with potatoes and broccolini. My only complaint is the potatoes could have been cooked a little longer.

I enjoyed my recent lunch at Auntie's . The restaurant is located on S. Cobb drive next to a J.R. Crickets. There's plenty of free parking available. The restaurant was nearly empty around 12 and I was seated promptly. I began with a Hot Girl which is basically a spicy margarita with pineapple. It was delicious and strong! I also ordered the chargrilled oysters. The oysters were really good and flavorful. For my entree, I ordered the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and dirty rice. The lamb chops chops were drizzled with a honey glaze and cooked medium as I requested. I'd probably skip the mashed potatoes next time, but I did enjoy the dirty rice. I also tried the brussel sprouts and they were a hit. Another drink that I tried was the Aunt Rita. It's a margarita topped with a red wine float. The drinks here are SO good! Customer service was good and I look forward to returning soon.

    Oxtails plate $33.00

I found them on yelp from searching for oxtails. We dropped by and we were really the only patrons. If what we got today is reminiscent of the regular day to day things I can see why! Anywho, we ordered drinks, the grown folk kool-aid and added shots of tequila and gin. They were very sweet, even with the liquor, just sweet. No kick from the liquor. On to the food. I had the oxtails, which came with green & white rice. My food came out cold! I had them reheat them. They came back out hot. They were old, tough not good. The white rice wasn't fresh and was hard too. I added yams, but I didn't even try them I was ready to go! It doesn't take much to turn me off. The greens were sweet. My friend said her salmon, mashed potatoes and asparagus were just ok too. Service was ok. 1 thing that irked me, that while eating the server requested that we stop eating to pay so she could end her shift. Which means I had to touch my purse, credit card, credit card machine to pay, then be expected to go back to eating NO MA'AM. I was done, paid and we left. I wouldn't recommend or return.

Had this one saved for some time. Visited with my Bff and it did not disappoint. The music/vibe was great not too loud. Ambiance was good and the food was great and the service by Mariah was spectacular. She had great suggestion and made really good drinks. I will say there wasn't much crawfish in my dish but was very flavorful. Greens good vingerbase with some sweetness. Could had been cooked a little longer. Will definitely come back.

    Cajun Garlic Shrimp N Grits
    Tunicia W.

My best friend and I came to Aunties for one last hurrah before she left Atlanta (insert crying emojis here). I had the shrimp and grits which were okay-they had a little bit too much sauce in them-i felt like i had more sauce than grits so it overpowered the other flavors in the dish. The bread that they have as a starter is delicious. I'll be back to try a different dish.

The place is nice inside but not as intimate as I was expecting for a speakeasy. It's a fairly casual vibe inside with a bar and some seating around the sides. I really enjoyed the cocktails. They're light but really well balanced in their flavors. We had called ahead of time and were told the place closed at 10 PM but at 9:30, they already turned on the lights and were getting people to leave. We felt rushed out of there which wasn't fun especially since we called ahead. Also, there were fruit flies all over the place and in our faces. The entire time, we were fighting off the fruit flies which really dulled the experience. There was 10+ so it was very annoying. Hopefully they can fix that problem and it will make for a more enjoyable experience.

The food was excellent, the drinks were on point, and our waitress did an awesome job handling such a large party. She stayed on top of everything and made sure we were taken care of all night. After dinner, we decided to check out the speakeasy through the freezer door--Eleanor's--and unfortunately, that's where the experience took a turn. The atmosphere itself was nice--semi-dark with a cool concept--but it could definitely lean more into a darker, more immersive speakeasy vibe. The bigger issue, though, was the service. It was night and day compared to upstairs. The waitress came across as rude and unwelcoming from the start. A few of us sat down in a small corner area with an L-shaped bench and some extra chairs we had to pull over ourselves. Obviously, with 12 people, there was no way we were all fitting there, yet she insisted she wouldn't take any drink orders until everyone was seated. That made no sense, especially since there was standing room and even a bar-height table available. To make matters worse, there was zero acknowledgment of the birthday--not even a simple "happy birthday," which felt like a missed opportunity given the occasion. When we asked about Fireball shots, the response was a blunt "um, no," followed by "you can have water," as she started filling glasses. That pretty much summed up the vibe we got. Not sure if this is typical service down there or just an off night, but it was enough to make us decide we wouldn't come back to the speakeasy. Bottom line: If you're in the area, definitely check out Muss & Turner's for dinner--it's worth it. But I'd skip Eleanor's and save your time and money.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the hostess, plus a very inviting bar behind the stand. Prior to coming, we needed to change our reservation and they were happily able to accommodate. It was everyone's first time here, so the server explained how their menu works and what are the popular dishes. We started with the seasonal Thai salad, Smokey cabbage and pork belly. Our server put in the incorrect order, instead of the pork belly, she put in the chive fries, but she happily comped this due to error. Out of all the apps we tried, my favorite was the salad and actually the chive fries. Salad was fresh with corn, tomatoes, snow peas and the dressing was nicely salty and a bit spicy. The chive fries are reminiscent of chive pancake but cut in long strips, shaped like fries, though I found the sauce it came with too sweet. For our main entree, we all shared the chicken satay (my personal favorite and that satay sauce was to die for), crab fried rice (flavorful but found the old bay seasoning a bit too overpowering), whole market fish was trout that night (loved this was topped with a fresh salad) and crying thaiger (I didn't eat the steak but the grilled okra and the sauces were delicious). All of the entrees came with jasmine rice, but there's an option to get sticky rice and garlic rice for extra fee. I thought this was a good meal and our server was great. We found service to be a bit slow, but they were pretty busy. It got better towards the end of the night as people were leaving. They also gave free dessert as someone in our party was celebrating their birthday.
