Some of the deals I found were amazing: strawberries for just $0.98 a pack, a large pack of raspberries for $3.98, chicken breasts for $1.98 per pound, and ribeye steaks for $9.99 per pound. With grocery prices being so high these days, stores like this are such a huge help. The only downside is that weekends are extremely busy, so I'd recommend going first thing in the morning if you can. Even with the crowds, it's absolutely worth the trip. Normally, we avoid it due to the madhouse scene that is usually here (like when traffic can't even enter the parking lot from busy Milwaukee Ave because the parking lot is overflowing lol).  Well, it was -3F on a frigid Friday night and we were across Milwaukee Ave at the Jewel, and it was eerily quiet in Jewel, and we thought it was as good a time as any to also visit Jerry's lol. Well, it was relatively calm, and we found a close by parking spot, but there were still plenty of shoppers in Jerry's.  Their inventory is huge and truly impressive as are their prices.  No wonder this place is so super popular.  We picked up some cherries for $2.49 per lb and strawberries at a promo price of $0.79 per 1 lb container.  I would say 4.5 stars for our visit tonight, but really on their normal super-crowded shopping basis, I would still say 3 stars overall.  I don't personally think the hassle factor of shopping here for fruits and vegetables is worth it for the savings and the variety of offerings, thus the 2 star deduct.  But you have to decide for yourself, and apparently for many others, Jerry's is well worth the trip, and kudos to Jerry's for that and continued good luck and success to them.

I always spend between $ 106-110 buying six to seven meat entrees specials along with fresh fruits and fresh vegetables and bread and cereal for myself and my two adult children. I do not often buy the household products as they are a premium but the food specials truly are special! This approach saved me 30-40% as my weekly bill at Jewel would consistently be $30-$40 more on any given week. Selection is limited here, but stick to the specials and you'll do great!

1 Star - Very Disappointing Customer Service…read more I have never experienced customer service like this at a grocery store. I understand that customers can sometimes be wrong, and I also understand that every store may have different policies. In this case, I was not aware that Caputo's does not bag customers' groceries, and I would have been completely fine with being politely informed of that policy. What I did have a problem with was the way the cashier spoke to me. Regardless of whether a customer is right or wrong, a cashier should never argue with or talk back to a customer in a disrespectful manner. There is a professional way to explain a store policy without becoming argumentative. What made the situation even more disappointing was that I had the manager standing right there. I explained to the manager that I felt the cashier should not be arguing with or talking back to a customer. Unfortunately, the manager ( short lady with curly hair) did nothing to address the employee's behavior or even speak to the cashier about the situation. To me, that sends the wrong message. When management witnesses an employee treating a customer this way and does nothing, it makes the employee feel that this type of behavior is acceptable. That is bad management and poor customer service. I am not upset about having to bag my own groceries. I am upset about how I was treated and how management chose to handle the situation. Customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect, even when there is a disagreement. I hope the management at this location takes this seriously and understands that allowing employees to argue with customers without addressing the behavior is not good for the store or its customers.

This is a small location catering to the neighborhood residents in Belmont Cragin. There were some shady characters outside loitering, so be aware. This was one of my typical grocery shopping trips. I purchased one (1) bag of cello spinach ($1.99), one (1) bag of red seedless grapes ($0.95/lb. for $1.30), red delicious apples ($0.65/lb. for $2.13), plum tomatoes ($0.65/lb. for $1.32), one (1) cantaloupe ($0.95), two (2) bags of carrots (2 for $0.95), and four (4) regular-sized avocados (2 for $0.95; $1.90). Everything came to $10.78 after tax. No one can say that buying groceries is expensive, if you know where to shop. This location is on the corner of Cicero and Diversey. The CTA bus 54A (Cicero/Skokie Blvd.) runs during AM and PM rush hours only, so the more reliable public transportation is to take the CTA bus 76 (Diversey). If you choose not to exercise during the gorgeous spring season in Chicago, driving your own vehicle is an option as well since parking is ample.

The prices are also higher than before the change in ownership and the competition. For example they sell regular and organic bananas for 79 cents and 99 cents a pound. Whole Foods sells for 69 cents and 89 cents. I'll go to Tony's in a pinch if I desperately need something because it is walking distance but usually prefer to drive elsewhere where I get better quality for the same or slightly better price.
