Absolutely fantastic experience using Martin's Painting for the exterior of our 2100 sq ft home. After sending a message via Yelp, we were quickly scheduled for an estimate. Alejandro and Alison came on time and were extremely thorough in their inspection of our home's exterior. I am so glad because Alejandro found several items in need of repair and asked great questions to ensure that he would do exactly what we wanted in terms of paint and trim. We received a written estimate that was extremely fair and the job was scheduled to begin within 2 weeks. Other painters quoted us a 4-6 month wait before they could begin! We had easy and timely communication with the office via Liz and Alison. Alejandro's painting crew was fantastic. They paid great attention to detail. Unprofessional. This is after a couple of months post paint job and touch up that was asked for multiple times. Don't even get me started on the inside of the house with the kitchen that had wallpaper and they deiced to just paint over it . Windows we're covered with paint layered don't know why. All around would never hire them again. Especially when I asked for them to come fix it they "did" half ass and the same issue is still present . But they got paid and I got a $500 refund for my troubles lol a joke . Lesson learned to next time take em to small claims and reference jobs. read more

I went into finding a painter cold - relying only on Yelp reviews and came across Martin's Painting. I reached out to Alejandro and he promptly replied and came to our home the next day for a walk-through. Alejandro provided a fair and transparent quote that day (nearly $800 less than other quotes), and scheduled us quickly. In two days Alejandro and his crew painted all of our ceilings, doors, floorboards, trim and casings. They were meticulous and thorough. The job was done to a very high standard and you could tell Alejandro cared deeply about the quality and final result. Aside from being 100% satisfied with the work, Alejandro and his crew were all very courteous and respectful while in our home. I can't recommend Martin's Painting enough, and plan to use them again for all future interior and exterior paint projects. read more

We have an older home built about 100 years ago, and needed a paint job badly. Since our home is so very old, it contains lead paint, and we had to specifically get painter's who are lead paint certified. This means the job costs a bit more for us, but we needed it to protect the surrounding environment from the lead paint peeling from our home and leeching into soil. This is even more important to us -- since my wife is pregnant, and pregnant women (and little children) are more susceptible to damage from lead paint. Martin's Painting is lead-paint certified so we decided to move forward with them. As a disclaimer, I knew nothing about what lead-paint certified meant, and found out everything after this job was done, and I went to do more research. Unfortunately, Martin's did not perform our job to comply with the lead paint standards. They finished a day earlier than expected, but It turned out to be a rushed job. Some parts of our home look great, while other parts not good. For example, the old loose paint was supposed to be scraped off and sanded so the new paint would seal to the wood, however it's only been a couple days, and there are important areas (like the porch sitting area), where the new paint is already chipping off -- which means the old paint was not fully scraped off properly. Please see attached photos. Also, more importantly, a lead paint certified job is supposed to contain all the old paint and put it in heavy-duty garbage bags each day. Martin's Painting left huge chunks of lead-based paint chips scattered all around our entire yard from the very first day. I thought "okay maybe they'll clean it up later", but turns out they never did. On the last day before payment, Alejandro showed up for the first time, and I had the chance to ask him directly about the paint chips, to which he responded "Don't worry, they'll clean this up tonight." I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But it was never cleaned. After we made the final payment, they left. We paid a top price, but I don't think we got the best service. The communication wasn't great. The workers didn't speak great english, so there was some miscommunication at times. They were not able to paint one side of our shed because it was too close to the fence, but it was never communicated, and we were still charged for the full shed. They never mentioned it. I noticed it at the end as we were doing the final walkthrough, and that's when Alejandro finally told me they couldn't do it. It feels like we should have been informed at the very beginning if there were parts of our job that they could not paint. Also there were only 1-2 guys who were left painting our entire house, so it looks like they did just enough to get the house painted, where everything looks ok from far away - but there was no attention to detail. Our new paint job is already peeling, the old paint scattered all over the yard. In fact, I would not have left this review if it wasn't for the owner (Alejandro) telling me one thing, and not following through. I wasn't even going to complain about the unpainted wall, or the peeling paint. But the direct fib about cleaning up the paint chips is too much. Telling us something just to get the money and not following through on it just rubs me the wrong way. I finally decided to do more research online to find the lead paint procedures in California (as I truly had no idea), and learned there was a bunch of regulatory standards they failed to follow - beyond just the paint in the yard. However, paint all over the yard brought this detailed review out of me, and the only reason this company gets two stars (instead of one) is because there are parts of the job I appreciated. The screen doors look great. The white window trim and the red porch trim really helps the paint job stand out. But the health and safety of the environment (and our family), along with being able to trust the word of those we do business with, were the factors weighing more heavily in this review. read more

One door remains sticky and has again led to paint (and a piece of the frame) coming off. I will admit that these doors/frames are not high quality (so not the painters bad entirely) but if it can't be fixed I'd prefer being told that rather than a second failure. Overall, I would still definitely use Martins again and recommend them to others! I appreciate their hard work and initiative in trying to make things right. ------------------ Unfortunately have to update my review. Over time I've noticed a few spots that went unpainted (inside of door frame, part of a wall near a window, wall and trim behind dryer, etc). Also trim has peeled in some spots and some doors do not close properly or get stuck (which pulled off paint). Have to update this post because we are learning that not all outlet covers/light switch plates were removed prior to painting and now when we are trying to take them off to have electrical work done, the paint is getting ripped off because they were just painted around the plates. You can see the paint on the edges of the plate. I was assured that they would all be removed prior to painting as part of their process. Unfortunately that did not happen. Between that and the windows being splattered with paint I am left a little disappointed with the quality/details of the project. They are extremely efficient, communicative and reliable though so that was a big plus. read more

There are things we love and there are issues we are still dealing with after hiring Martin's painting to paint a few rooms in our house. First of all, the crew was extremely hard working and diligent about getting the work done. The quality of painting was top notch. We had a few communication issues including a paint color change request I made for a bedroom a few days before it was painted. I got a blank stare from the crew boss and no response from the phone verbal and text messages I left with Alejandro. I found out on the last day of the project, when the wall was painted that my request was ignored and they painted the original color. When I approached Alejandro about it he said absolutely nothing. No response. The white walls are too stark in this south facing room and I had wanted to soften it. All the other paint companies I had interviewed said they would check with us for every paint color in every room. We also had it in our contract to paint an accent color in the kitchen. I had inadvertently left the color off the list of paints and no one with the company followed up with me to see what color I wanted the accent wall and hood, they went ahead and painted the same color. I asked the crew boss about it and had to mention that it was in the contract before he would deal with it. The reason we chose this company is because they agreed the wallpaper in two rooms needed to be removed. The removal in the hallway resulted in a lot of needed wall repair and rather than talking to us about the difficulty they had to make it smooth, they just painted as is and it looks pretty crappy on some parts of the walls. The biggest issue by far is that we are dealing with hardwood floor damage done to painted and unpainted rooms due to extended use of blue tape to keep their floor covering/paper in place. When they removed the blue tape, it took up the floor finish in strips to match where the blue tape was attached. Our floors were not perfect to begin with, but we were not planning to have them redone at this time. The strips of removed finish really make it look horrible now. Please follow our advice and never let painters put blue tape on hardwood floors. And if you hire this company, make sure it is part of the contract that you can change your mind about a paint color before paint is applied to a wall. Who wants to hire a painting company that won't make a color adjustment? read more
