I was happy that West-Cal Painting had flexibility in paint choice and I went with the Sherwin-Williams Duration paint. I had issues with getting quotes from other painters and them not being responsive. I was leaning towards another painter until they took over a week to respond. West-Cal Painting was professional and responsive. Early in the project I was concerned that it wasn't looking great (it is easy to miss spots in stucco texture), but they weren't done until I was happy. They went over the entire house with me and if there was any spot I wasn't happy with, they fixed it. West-Cal did the minor stucco patching they said they would and caulked stucco cracks. We recently contracted with West-Cal Painting. We are extremely happy with their work and professionalism and highly recommend them. They did an outstanding job painting the entire exterior, metal work, and trim of our 5400 sq ft house built on a hill in Rocklin, Ca. While the front of our house is the equivalent of a 1-story home, the rear is a 3-story, which necessitated the use of scaffolding. In addition to painting, West-Cal also removed and replaced 24 under-the-eve can lights and 21 exterior wall lights, repaired/replaced and painted the door frames for 2 exterior doors, and patched several feet of damaged stucco. They also filled all cracks and gaps. Our metal spiral staircase had patches of extreme rust which they sanded and painted. Oskar and Ulyssys were amazing to work with. Both were extremely professional and friendly. They consistently communicated with us as to updates and progress on the project, advised of delays and regularly walked us through the project ensuring it met our high expectations. Their crew worked hard and cleaned up everyday, moved our patio furniture and wall hangings, and put everything back when completed. They were prompt every morning and worked long days (unlike other contractors we have had working on our house lately). While they were not the cheapest company that gave us estimates, they were very close to the lowest bid and by far the most professional with the highest reviews, which we found were accurate (you get what you pay for). There were a few spots that needed touch-up after the scaffolding company removed their scaffolding and they promptly returned and touched those areas up. We are very happy with the professionalism and quality of West-Cal Painting. The owner, Oskar, was prompt in providing the bid. The work started soon after we accepted the contract proposed. The work was completed in a timely manner, with careful preparation, repairs of some dry rot found, and good clean up. The crew did some stucco repair, removed an old, unconnected roof satellite dish. They even disposed of the satellite dish for us, saving us a trip to the hazardous waste county facility. Good service! The color match with existing color palette on our house was excellent. The fact that WCP holds a painting and general building license was a plus. Two painting contractors that gave us bids overlooked (or at least did not mention) that there was dry rot repair needed. If dry rot repair is out their scope of license, they should have been able to recognize dry rot and refer us to a contractor able to repair it prior to painting. read more

Scheduled an estimate appointment. About 15 minutes into the on-site appointment, the estimator lets me know that the minimum quote is $1,100. As this is a small job which I described in full detail to the scheduler, this would've been helpful information YESTERDAY. The scheduler should've let me know immediately about the minimum, but maybe they figure people are desperate/ don't get multiple quotes. The scheduler also should've realized that a fair quote for the job described was well below their minimum. Not sure if this was purposeful or the scheduler needs training (or to be fired), but the cherry on top was the estimator repeating over and over "It's fine". I don't appreciate people wasting my time and I especially don't appreciate being gaslighted. Oscar & Elisias are what I have in my notes, so maybe avoid them read more

After a handful of calls, Osker from West-Cal asked if he could come by same-day, and he surveyed the work. He was extremely personable and a pleasure to talk to. After some back and forth on what work needed to be done (my wife and I couldn't decide between the whole house or the partial paint job), Osker got us on the schedule ahead of our move in date! It was a big project (3400 sqft house), and as such there were some minor delays, causing them to finish work on our move in date. I can't fault them -- we were getting last-minute turn around -- but it turned out to be a great opportunity to see how the team works. We were in the house when the team did some finishing touches and a few second-coats on trim. Their work was meticulous: You could see them painting extremely carefully, and working hard to make the paint job exact. We loved seeing this. It was clear they took great care in their work. The project manager, Ulysses, was wonderful to work with. He clearly cared about our satisfaction, and also made sure his team did a great job. He was highly communicative and let me know what to expect every step of the way. Our house took nearly a week to paint, and Ulysses made me feel comfortable throughout. I would highly recommend this company! Oskar, the owner was great to work with, as was Ulysses who was there each day of the job as the person in charge--very important to us. From the initial quick response to my request for an estimate, they continued to be very responsive to concerns and/or questions during the whole painting process, which is something I appreciate with any contractor. I got a number of quotes, but what sealed the deal for us was the fact that this is a construction AND painting company. We had some areas with dry rot and wanted the repair done properly. Some of the other contractors we got estimates from either didn't point out the dry rot areas at all (which would have possibly meant additional SURPRISE costs in the middle of the job--if they did it at all), and others did point it out, however, their plan to repair it didn't make sense to us, even as people who have very little knowledge in that area. I also appreciated the fact that they're punctual, and work the same hours for each day. Also, they' leave everything neatly put aside at the end of each day, as well as at the end of the job. I spent several weeks trying to locate a painting contractor for our 3364 square foot single story residence. I don't intend to move or sell, and the stucco exterior of my 15 year old house had existing cracks, along with weathered wood fascia boards. I have experience painting myself (painted four houses and numerous interiors) and I was aware of the scope of work required... but am tired of climbing ladders. I used Yelp to request bids, which resulted in one contractor actually coming to my home, and several more who responded via phone to give me bids...all of which were sight unseen. The contractor who visited came in 50% higher than the rest. Those who did not inspect my house all told me their level of experience enabled them to quote a cost sight unseen. I felt I wanted at least one more bid from a contractor who would visit my home. Further online searching led me to Angie's List, which revealed West-Cal Painting with a five-star rating. After checking West-Cal Painting's license status with the contractor's state license board, I got in touch with the owner Oskar Vargas, and requested he give me a bid. He made an appointment with me to inspect my house. Meeting Oskar admittedly caught me off-guard, not because he appeared younger than I expected, but because of his level of knowledge as he walked me through what repairs my house required, coupled with his estimate of the time needed to perform the work, as well as his personal professionalism. Oskar left and later e-mailed me a professionally prepared estimate that detailed all of the work we discussed at a very reasonable price for the full scope of work, which I chose to accept. Oskar then sent me an electronic version of a contract, which I was able to sign electronically. About two weeks later Oskar had a three man team at my house that arrived in a new commercial vehicle loaded with the proper equipment to begin working. Jose, the foreman, Jorge, and Jesus spent just five days to complete a mountain of work. They were all extremely polite, easy to get along with, and were very receptive to questions and comments. The scope of work was reviewed and was clearly communicated. It was quite apparent these three painters were well organized, knew how to address the full scope of work required, and worked efficiently as a team. I never once sensed or heard complaints from this team - they simply got a large volume of work accomplished in a very efficient manner. My wife had picked out the colors from one paint color vendor and Oskar had the paint color perfectly matched using Sherwin-Williams top quality paints. The scope of work detailed all surfaces would be properly prepared, pressure washed, and covered with two coats of paint, which also included back rolling the second coat. I saw them perform all of the work called out in the contract. When all was said and done after just 5-days of work, my house looks fantastic. This is evidenced not just by my neighbors passing by with nothing but positive comments, but also by a next door neighbor who inspected the painting while in progress...who then promptly sought his own bid based on the quality of the painting my house received. Can't say enough about how impressed we were with West-Cal Painting! First, Oskar was very prompt in all our communications - a huge plus in our book!! Oskar and his workers were very professional and polite. West-Cal patched and painted a very large amount of baseboards following the replacement of our wood floors, retextured walls that were damaged during the floor replacement, matched and touched up wall paint, and repaired/painted our weathered facia board. All-in-all it was a two day job.
