You can donate old towels ,blankets , and even kiddie pools here so they can use them with the animals as they await their forever home. If you prefer they are able to give you a receipt . I've donated here because I know it goes directly to the animals . I've also walked the shelter . In the dog area they have treats available so you can 'help' the dogs learn commands. It is located in an industrial area , but look for signs.

Loved this place! Didn't smell like wet dog, was quick, efficient, all the girls in there were so nice and friendly. Very informative. The Great with my 10 pound Samuel Greh medium hair domestic rescue. He's such a good boy for everybody, but they took a particular liking to him as well as everybody in the waiting room because while all the other cats were freaking out trying to get out of their carriers, my cat Samuel was fast asleep.! Thank all you guys for taking such good care of my Samuel !

We adopted two foster puppies and were pleased with the whole experience. From meeting them with the foster family, yo the medical appoints, to adoption, our new additions have been a great joy and made simple by this non-profit. If you're looking for a great organization to support; either through adoption or just by donating, this is the place.

I took my puppy there starting at eight weeks to get her all shots. And we got her fixed there at I think 5 or 6 months and they dealt with the hernia she had and everything was great. I highly recommend them , and the difference in the price to get your dog spayed. Is a lot cheaper even with getting her hernia fixed so I think she's due for more shots so I'll be going back. :))

Love fostering for MSR such a rewarding experience. I just had a foster fail though. I fell in love with Blaze the moment I saw him. Beautiful 6 year old husky, he was trained with great manners. So I fostered him, that was in June. He did return to the shelter while I was on vacation. Long story short I had to have him we really bonded. I adopted him on 11/11/25. He is now home

I used to volunteer as a dog walker at this shelter. Every staff was nice and the facility was clean. We adopted a beautiful Shepard mix dog from this shelter in 2011. (My Yelp profile photo is him) and he passed away in 2023. He was my first big dog. He gave us a lot of memories. I watched a video that a balloon was moving like a dog who passed away trying to see its owner. It was really touching and I thought one day I could have the same experience. And wow, it happened to me today. One of my dogs found the balloon on the hallway. The balloon was coming to the dog food bowls first, and I called his name and the balloon came up to me. and the balloon moved towards the refrigerator, so I took the treats from the refrigerator. All other dogs came up to me and sat, and the ballon was next to the female dog that he really loved. I didn't recorded the video because he didn't like cameras while he was alive. Anyway, what I would like to say is Thank you all. I appreciate all the work you all have been doing for dogs and cats. I had great experiences at this shelter, and could have a great dog.

I adopted two kittens about 8 months ago from Mary S. Roberts. They are the happiest, healthiest cats. They are best friends and they love cuddling and playing. They are absolute angels. Whoever fostered them must have done an amazing job! The facility looked well-staffed and clean. I took advantage of their low-cost shot clinics which was wonderful and easy. The process of adopting was very straightforward and they gave us plenty of time to meet the kittens. The areas for the adult cats were nice and furnished. I didn't visit the dogs, but the cats all looked well taken care of. I would adopt here again in a heartbeat. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a pet. If you aren't following them on Facebook, start now! I love seeing the cute pets every day.

I visited this shelter to meet a 7-month-old dog I was REALLY interested in adopting. During the meet-and-greet, the dog bit me repeatedly, hard enough to leave significant bruising. I understand some mouthing can be normal in puppies, but this went beyond that, and I was surprised the staff didn't give a clear warning beforehand. I was also left alone with the dog for about 15 minutes and was struggling to remove myself because of the persistent 'mouthing' . They continued to tell me it was normal and encouraged me to proceed with the adoption even after I voiced concerns about the biting and having small children at home. I hope in the future they'll give a clear warning PRIOR to meeting.

This is my second adoption with this wonderful location. Our family had the pleasure of taking home a loving male orange kitten four years ago. We lost him to heart failure and miss him terribly. I have been in and out of a few adoption places and just never connected. Today I found a beautiful orange baby Girl Ladybug! She was in the same kennel as our first adoption. It was kismet. Mary Roberts has been a blessing to our family

    Waiting to be called.

It's been about 7 months since I…read morecompleted the level 1 group training with George and I figure it's time to leave a review! I adopted a 1 year old terrier mix from Mary S. Roberts and took advantage of their discounted training rate. I like to say my little one had NO manners. She was exhibiting a lot of concerning behaviors that you can't discredit come with adopting a rescue dog. We already had a 4 year old husky with us that we've had since he was a puppy, but that didn't stop the terrier from coming into the house like she was the owner. She was very anxious and scared and it seemed to be reflected in her trying to be dominant and somewhat aggressive with our dog and visitors to the house. It was a defeating feeling that first month before I was able to get her into training. She nipped, barked, was always afraid, would freeze when I would leave the house, and couldn't be left alone. I really want to thank George because he is so good at recognizing dog behaviors and probably more important, human behaviors with their dogs! The class setup was only about 6 people, enough to learn from others but also not so big that any dog didn't get the attention they need/deserve. George taught ME some dog behaviors and traits and I've been able to extend what he taught during the class to outside of the classes to better train my dog. I think the most important thing he taught me was to pay attention to how I'm reinforcing certain behaviors, because we are reinforcing (positively or negatively) whether we know it or not. Now my dog is so much more confident and excited to follow directions since we finished training. Everyone who met her when I first got her has noticed and mentioned the positive shift in her mannerisms and personality since training. I wish they had more training levels available because I would happily join another group lesson with George!

We shopped around and talked to several trainers and they all wanted to do a boot camp situation. Jason could have pushed for a board and train/boot camp option but he let us know that doing private lessons (very affordable when purchased as a package) would give us the best results for taking care of her issues. We appreciated that Jason didn't push for the highest cost option and wanted to give us the skills to work with our dog and her problems in normal day to day life out in the "real" world. He's always been really patient with all our questions and has been more than happy to field questions about our other dogs and things we can improve on with them outside of working with our "problem" dog without asking for additional compensation. As I said, if you're looking for a dog trainer who cares about your dog, uses positive reinforcement methods and gives you the skills to make your dog the best they can be then Jason is your guy. He does private and group training several times a week at Mary Roberts Pet Adoption Center. I almost forgot to mention that he posts videos that reinforce lessons you get in person. I would not recommend this company. I hired this company…read morewith one goal in mind and the person that came out (I think he was the owner) had convinced me that he could do what I asked of him for my dog Bogey. At the time I hired this company for training, Bogey was 16 months old. I'm not expecting Bogey to be Lassie or anything close, and I'm not blaming the trainer or any of his employees for Bogey's behavior.  A little bit of background on Bogey. He was traumatized by someone when he was 6 months old while at a doggie day care.  Bogey and my son-in-law, who my dog used to get along great with, changed after the incident at the day care. My daughter and son-in-law were there to watch the presentation for the training company. The trainer saw Bogey's reaction to my son-in-law, obvious signs of fear and apprehension, and convinced us he could change Bogey's behavior. My daughter and I signed up with this company, feeling assured the trainer could change this behavior in Bogey. It was a $2700 investment combined. Due to Bogey's reaction to my son-in-law, my main concern was to get help in changing this behavior and stressed this concern with the trainer. Unfortunately the sessions seem to only focus on sitting, staying and placing. Honestly, I became frustrated with them only "training" me on how to teach Bogey how to sit, stay etc and NEVER addressing the reason I hired them. This is what caused me to quit going to there "group lessons". I felt it was truly a waste of my time and apparently not a concern of their's either, having paid $2700 for a lifetime of training. In addition, no effort has been made on their part to reach out to me to find out why I quit going. Now that I am living with my daughter and her family,  Bogey is traumatized throughout the day. When he sees my son-in-law, who works from home, he will hide behind furniture and won't socialize with other family members. This behavior only happens around my son-in-law. Bogey is so fearful he will urinate in the house and has even done so on my granddaughter.  I can't afford to hire another trainer now and am questioning if this company lacks concern for their clients or possibly it's a lack of knowledge on how to properly train a dog with behavioral issues. This has put me in a difficult situation and I now have to decide whether to let this trauma continue daily, not what I want, or find a new home for Bogey, which I also do not want. That's no life for any family member. So if you're looking for someone to teach you how to say "sit", "stay" or "place", this may be the company I would recommend but I feel that they may be limited in their training skills. If you're looking for a company that will follow up with you, you might want to keep looking for someone that cares about results and accomplishments. There were many other things that showed lack of attention on their part but the one thing I was hoping for never was addressed even when I brought it up. They either lack the skill to train out behavior issues or they simply don't care. If you look at their own post on Facebook, their only focused is on sit, stay and come. No mention of training out negative behaviors. No success stories about other training issues.
