The gym itself had everything I needed and all the usual PF equipment. I really appreciated how much open floor space there was for stretching and floor work. A forgettable Y, old and run down and needs a major facelift. Definitely one of the less enjoyable YMCAs I've used and despite how old and run-down it is, it's also busy so you will have to wait for certain things on certain days at certain times more than you would in the average YMCA location. And some of the other members are not so friendly. A good parking lot though, and nobody bothers you in it if you're hanging out in it for awhile.

Then came another class, another instructor, and one was better than the next! Each class is different. When you give it everything you have, you leave totally spent. I have been there now for about 15 classes and am up 7lbs of lean muscle and down 10 lbs of fat... I look forward to the classes and they are the highlight of mayday. I have been to the 530 am classes, the 930 am classes and the lunchtime classes. They are great. Every one is great. They have all the equipment you could want to work out on your own, before class or at an 'odd time' and clean showers that make getting back into a suit and to the office easy. The woman who assisted me at the desk was super nice and helpful. After warming up I joined up with the main group. For a Monday night I was shocked to see what was about 40 people in the room doing kickboxing warm ups. I struggled to keep up for the first few exercises, but the individual next to me encouraged me and showed me the combinations a little slower so I caught on quick. The instructor also came over to check on me to make sure I was okay since I looked a little lost. But by the end I was smiling and sweaty. There is no "take a break," it is a high intensity 45-minute cardio experience. I loved every second and will probably stay after my initial Groupon is up. Recommend you bring water if you do this class... and maybe a yoga mat as you do lay on the floor for some of the course and it can be a bit dirty from all the shoes on the mat. The kickboxing classes meet Monday nights, Wednesday nights and Saturday late morning.
