Stop in this past Sunday and was pleased but not bowled over. The food and atmosphere were terrific however the older woman who took our order (later found out she is the owner) should really retire. Besides being given only the "specials" menu to order from (which was all omelettes) she was forgetful and just unpleasant and ornery looking. After some time, my wife who was not feeling in the mood for an omelette, ask if the had regular breakfast foods and was told yes. You'd think at that point she'd offer up the regular menu but NO. My wife finally ordered the eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. The food including my roasted pepper balsamic, provolone omelet were very good. The younger wait staff were covering most of this woman's mistakes including my missing toast, forgetting I came in with my wife (are you alone? She asked after minutes earlier taking our order) Our advice is to definitely go to Mary's but avoid Mary if possible. Food and happy, younger wait staff are worth the trip. We were passing through Hammonton, when we decided to get a bite to eat . My sister had been to Mary's once before and suggested I give it a try . It was a good decision. Upon entering ,we were greeted warmly by Mary , and promptly seated and given menus. Our server came over with a big smile , asking if we wanted a beverage . We ordered , and she brought them right away. The menus were filled with plentiful items and I had the corned beef and swiss omelet, which came with potatoes , toast and Cole slaw ! My sister had a corned beef sandwich , aka Corned beef Special . My omelet , which took up much of the plate was filled with lean corned beef and Swiss cheese , accompanied by perfectly cooked breakfast potatoes , and a side of yummy Cole slaw . perfectly cooked and full of flavor , it never had a chance of becoming a left over . My sister was equally pleased with her sandwich, piled high with the aforementioned corned beef . It was so plentiful that she took half home . This spot is what I call a local gem. Have been in the area for quite a while and I went strait to Mary's Cafe. Marion always recognizes faces and instantly she says "haven't see you in a long time". We chatted at the counter while I enjoyed my cream chipped beef. Can't wait until the Jersey tomatoes are ripe. They make tv best burgers and the tomatoes always add that extra touch. We always enjoy going to downtown Hammonton and Mary's is always at the top of our list with that small town charm and the history of the original building that was preserved. read more

We had two specials, shared an order of fries, and two drinks which totaled about $40. Prices are really reasonable for the fresh food that you receive. Very quiet here. Nice place to drop in for breakfast, sitting down for a while and just staring around at the sunflower paintings. My family goes here for the omelettes, which are nicely rolled and beautiful (I personally wish I could do that sort of thing at home), stuffed full of whatever you want. While I'm not a fan of broccoli rabe, I've heard exclamations that it's extremely good here. Simple ham and cheese was marvelous in my case, personally. A side of toast and home fries let's you walk out of the building feeling like you can take on the world that day... or just head home for an after-meal nap. read more

I was passing through for work and popped in for lunch today. The reviews were good and I prefer to eat at "mom and pop" places over the big chains. We'll, I'm so glad I did! This place is great!! The ambiance is so adorable and cheerful! The service was fast, personable, and helpful. And the food- sooo good! My turkey club was freshly sliced turkey piled high, bacon was well done a crispy, the mayo wasn't too heavy or messy, but not to light and dry, the tomatoes were ripe and red, and the bread was perfectly lightly toasted. I would've taken a picture of the perfection, but I was too hungry and ate it all up! Haha! I also peeped the other people's food near me and everything looked incredible! Lovely place for breakfast. Beautiful place with good atmosphere, good service, and reasonable options. I got enormous blueberry pancakes and my family tried the cheese omelette sad well ("very cheesy!"). We left stuffed. My only critique would be that I'd like to see more vegetarian sides for breakfast and more vegetarian options for lunch. I probably wouldn't eat here for lunch due to my diet limitations. read more

It's open from 7:00 am - 2:30 pm which is a bit odd. However, the business hours of Hammonton is a bit off the beaten path of 9-5. After walking inside to get a menu and check it out personally, I could see the food looked delicious and nicely plated. It is very chic inside so I have high hopes when I finally go to eat here. Been going to Mary's since Christmas last year. I have tried their omelette they are ok their home fries could be better. What I love the most about them is their specials. I love the chicken parm and eggplant parm both have great flavor and their tossed salad with balsamic is excellent. Minus one star for service it could be better, sometimes it's empty and you have to seat yourself, get your own menu all while they look at you. Last time I waited seated for a couple of minutes and left because they kept going pass me ‍ if you're going alone I recommend sitting at the bar. read more

I've heard about this spot for years when I was working in the area, and had the chance to stop in late morning.THE BEST HOME FRIES EVER! Seriously - amazing. All due to the old cast iron skillet only used to toast the surfaces of soft interior chunks of deliciousness. Inventive and tasty omelets and specials, awesome dishes on the daily menu, Lunch and/or Breakfast. The tender and fluffy quiche came with loads of bacon and a nicely dressed, generous side of spring greens. Eggs done to order - a soft omelet was, indeed, soft. Imagine Pastrami omelet with sides of Russian dressing and creamy coleslaw, and those amazing home fries! We were able to sit out back and it was a delightful day for it. We'll be back. read more

We didn't know where to eat so I ask a couple sitting in an outdoor cafe and they said Mary's. Cute place. Very clean (I thought it was new) and the food--I ordered the sloppy joe--was PHENOMENAL. I haven't had a sloppy joe in years, but it came recommended and it because it was a combo of beef and italian sausage I'd thought I'd try. It was served with coleslaw and a cucumber salad, and it did not disappoint! I will have to go back soon, as I am now a fan. read more

I stopped by here with a friend because I've heard it was a really popular place. The restaurant is located in the small, but easily accessible downtown. We were immediately seated by a very perky waiter. The place was empty since it was near closing time. The place looked tidy but the silverware was cheap looking. I ordered a pepper & egg sandwich and the waiter asked if I wanted fries. I replied I did & got both promptly. The sandwich was small, not a generous portion of egg & pepper, but nicely cooked. The bowl of fries confused me, since I wasn't expecting this separate portion. The waiter never asked to refill my Coke, but I finished my sandwich quickly enough & wanted to get going. I got my bill & almost choked. Between an OK sandwich, Coke & fries (never thought the fries would be à la carte) & tip, my bill was almost $20. While I'm glad the downtown has one less empty storefront, I'll pass on Mary's. I'll stick to the Coin. Bigger portions for the same amount of money. read more

Quick summary: Good food but HORRIBLE service. I was in the area over the past weekend to watch the Challange Atlantic City and ended up in Hammonton since it was along the race route. After supporting the racers, my friends and I were looking for a place to grab lunch before heading to the boardwalk to see the finish line and (regrettably) ended up at Mary's Cafe. We didn't realize that the place didn't serve lunch on Sundays and our waitress was sure to inform us in the most rude tone ever that they only served breakfast. Her tone was the first red flag and unfortunately the experience did not improve from that point. Although the food was delicious, we couldn't help but continue to feel disrespected by our waitress. Meanwhile, she seemed pleasantly chummy to everyone else she was serving. When we were finished eating, a young man cleared our table and asked how we wanted to pay. We asked if we could split the bill 3 ways and he said sure. Minutes later, we heard an argument occur between him and our waitress about the bill because she was unable to split the bill (BTW, it's completely unprofessional to argue in front of your customers). The waitress then came over and continued to speak to us in an unpleasant manner. We offered to then pay with 3 different cards and write down amounts for her and she threw the receipt and pen down on the table, which was the biggest turn off ever. In the end, we decided to just pay with 1 card so we could get the hell out of there and far away from Mary's cafe as possible. She even had the nerve to say "Next time you come into a restaurant, let the waitress know if you want split bills" as if we've never been to a restaurant before. I should also mention that the restaurant was not busy so she could have taken the time to make us feel welcomed or to have at least handled this event better. I even signed up for a yelp account today just to write about how poor their service was. That's right--I went out of my way to complain about how horrible our experience was. If you don't mind being served food by a rude staff, then feel free to eat there. I hope people get a chance to read this before they decide to eat here.
