Growing up in Hammonton, you learn pretty quickly which places matter. West End Grill & Bar is one of them. What I love most is that this place has kept all its charm. Walk through the door and it still feels like the West End should--comfortable, familiar, and unapologetically itself. No forced updates, no trying to be something it's not. The wings are really good. They do serve half wings, which I normally don't prefer, but these are huge for halves. Meaty, cooked right, and more than satisfying. Easily one of those orders you'll come back for. The crowd is friendly and lively, the kind of place where conversations flow, people are laughing, and everyone just seems glad to be there. Get more staff! One waitress who also seemed to be the cook. Tried to order food amd the one waitress turned her head and started talking to another table. The place was not busy at all at the time either. The woman behind the bar was much more friendlier. We think our waitress/cook left and went out the back door! My wife and I started coming here for the cozy bar and solid bar food 3 years ago. We specifically liked the sandwiches. Yesterday we popped in because she was craving the a cutlet sandwich (the cutlets are great). I got the hot roast pork with provolone and broccoli rabe. It was so far from anything acceptable for a $14 sandwich that I couldn't even eat it. The provolone was straight out of the fridge, cold and crumbly. Very little pork and room temperature. Bad roll. Since we moved to Hammonton this was our second time here. I ordered a bacon and blue cheese hamburger because the picture had bacon hanging on the sides, blue cheese crumbled and a thick burger that was the size of the bun. What I received was a piece of bacon crumbled on top of the middle, a white glob of sauce that didn't taste like blue cheese and a hamburger that I didn't fill the whole bun. The fries were hot and good. Our server was friendly and checked back on us a few times. We prefer the bar side it's decorated but the side dining room has been forgotten. Stopped by on a Saturday just prior to an NFL game. Not too crowded, we were greeted and seated right away. Served was attentive promptly bringing our drinks and taking our food order. Food came out rather quickly ... loaded Chili and wings with "Eddie's sauce" were both very good. Would give 0 if I could. I had the worst experience at this bar. They had so-called 'security' guards who were clearly not professionals. They kept yelling at us, claiming we weren't 21 even though we all showed our IDs. One of them acted like a fake 'ID expert' but didn't know anything. They yelled at us the entire time we were there, and the bartender didn't do anything to stop them. They called us offensive names and were extremely racist towards a customer, asking if his ID was a green card. They were also using homophobic slurs, creating a hostile environment. Stopped here for a quick bite after a long day of hiking. All of the prices are fair and there is a variety of bar food items on the menu. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their meal. The fried green beans came with a sweet and spicy sauce that everyone should try! The quesadillas were also loaded to capacity and full of flavor. I would def recommend if you're craving some food bar food. No drinks were ordered on my visit. The service was adequate. Nothing over the top. Food is great! Jaime was a super helpful and a very efficient waitress. We were a large soccer group and found tables in the back dinning area which was perfect for us. Jaime came in and was the first to say Hello. We told her we were a large group and her smile kept going. We asked if separated checks were possible (we are so use to people saying no with attitude) she said yes and kept her great attitude going. We asked her what her favorites were, she said The Walnut Pear Salad and the Chicken Ranch Club. WP salad was so fricken good and those who orderedthe club we also happy. Jaime kept husseling, all 17 of us were so pleased with everything, Drinks from the bar were good too. I got High Fives from everyone for picking the place. And some of us loved it so much we returned after our game on Sunday. FYI- This is a bar but has plenty of tables in bar area (lil loud @ night) and a separated rooms. We visited here on a semi-busy Saturday and were excited because we reviewed the online menu during the ride here and saw all the varieties of food. We ordered four appetizers, all good. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Our drinks were good. But my wife and I ordered the roast beef AND SWISS club and the ham AND SWISS club. We got them take- out to take to the Blue Rascal next door. We tipped our waitress a very generous cash amount. The new siding and signage may have you thinking that the West End Grill is a middle of the road tavern just south of the center of Hammonton. That impression would be wrong, as this place is a first class heavily knotty pined bar and grill. TVs at every angle (even a small one behind the bar for the tender), excellent service and even better smile (Linda). I stopped in for a late lunch on my way to AC yesterday based on Yelp reviews, and found myself in a perfect place to wet my whistle sitting on a stool with a couple of biker dudes and a big menu. I went with the homebrew ice tea and the Hammonton Burger (Cheese, Onion, Pepper, Shrooms on a Fresh Roll). Both were way above average, and the burger was one of the better ones I've had recently. House specialty is a container of slices hot peppers available for the sandwich, or just to nosh as an unadvertised appetizer. The accompanying Fries were also pretty good. I was happily sated returning to my car for the balance of the ride to the shore. West End Grill is a great place to stop before hunger forces a visit to the rest area on the AC Expressway. Looking for a place to get a quick meal after a day of wine tastings in the area. We found it on foursquare and no problem in getting to the location. Not very busy since it was Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend but the bartender and waitress couldn't have been nicer. The waitress asked how we had found the bar since, according to her, there a very few bars in Hammonton. She was a little surprised to find out that I was using foursquare! For a small place the menu was extensive with a fairly good selection of beers on tap as well as in bottles. I was going to try the pork sandwich coated with Cap'n Crunch, bit they were out so I opted for the "Why Not" sandwich. This consisted of a grilled cheese sandwich using 2 cheeses on thick sourdough accompanied by mac 'n cheese and barbecue and a large side of fries. It was excellent and I brought half home with me. My wife had a killer burger with blue cheese and bacon. Also had a side of boneless wings with "Eddie's Sauce" - also excellent and too big to finish. Entered the restaurant no one greeted us, so we seated ourselves. We were not acknowledged at our table until 10 minutes later when the waitress (without introducing herself) finally got our drinks. Then another 5-10 minutes later she finally asked for our order. There was only one other table and it seemed like she had no regard for service at all. Hammonton has more Italian and Mexican restaurants per capita than any other small town I've seen. Have never been disappointed in any of them. Driving through town regularly I have wanted to try the West End since a friend of mine told me about it several months ago. Not knowing what kind of bar it was hadn't stopped until yesterday for lunch. It's in an older building right on 12th (the main st.) just South of the railroad tracks in the Center of the business district. Walked in to large oval shaped bar with several workers having their lunch at the bar. Plenty of seating adjacent to the bar and several small areas away from the bar if your not into the bar atmosphere. A rather complete menu so whatever your into they seem to have along the lines of Pub fair. Primarily sandwiches, wraps, salads, quesadillas and burgers. A delight to bar foodies like myself. Several variations of wings so we ordered the house special that has a sweet and slightly tangy flavor. Wings were drums only and very meaty. Well cooked and tasty. Ate a few and saved room for lunch. Yes we brought them home for snack later. I ordered a house club that was essentially a cheese steak sub with bacon in a club sandwich. Very good and more than enough to eat. Next time I'm in the mood for a sandwich I think I'll try the cheese steak sub which is actually slightly less expensive. Wife had Southwest salad which was again more than enough to eat with a side of an avocado/ranch dressing that tasted like a light guacamole dip. Very good. Salad looked kind of plain when it came out because all the goodies were under the lettice. Different. Bar is clean and welcoming. Prices are reasonable on the high side. Will stop again. read more

Looks like a total dive. The phone manners are less than desirable. BUT, as a relative newbie to the town, it's worth the hype from the Hammontonians (?). Delicious burgers cooked to your desired doneness. Super yummy salads. I don't like the house balsamic but that's splitting hairs. The buffalo wings were tasty. I ordered them like the locals... With Eddie's (propietor's) homemade sauce. Yes! Sweet & spicy! Yum! Crispy fries and onion rings. My son had issues with the cheese in the made to order chicken and cheese quesadilla. Hubbie and I don't understand the reasoning. Tasted good to us. The original chicken quesadilla looks super yummy. Going to try next time. My family isn't into the bar scene so we'd never stay for dinner with our little one. Someone said $7 for a pint... Yikes. However, the food is really tasty for the price. We judge a place by the caliber of their salads and this place has really nice salads! Now the ambience would rate 1 star. Eww! Take Out Only! And... when you walk in the staff couldn't be friendlier. So, it wasn't a Friday when we ordered take out ... We're definitely coming back on Friday to try the famous homemade mac & cheese. I got the buffalo chicken Philly cheesesteak with eddies sauce. It's super good. I've had it before and didn't enjoy it but after this time, I dig it. The bread is kinda soft but it's okay. Was my 1st and last time ever. The service was horrible 1 waitress for the hour myself and fiance waited to even get acknowledged literally, she passed us by numerous times and didn't even get a high. The menu was basically sold out, no pork products, chicken tenders sold out, so if you didn't like grilled chicken you were screwed, waited an hour to order ribs that haven't been in the facility for 2 years, now, but still on the menu, also we watched 3 others patriots walk out after they were waiting just like us, we literally were betting on who would stay and go. The place is run down, you can obvious see the money didn't go back into the service, or menu update, or stock. First time at West End proved to be a success. We went just for dinner. Got the Why Not Sandwich and the Italian Chicken Sandwich. Both sandwiches were very good. Chicken and veggies were very fresh. I don't know which was worse, the blaring music or the middle aged bartender who made eye contact with my party (who was waiting to be served) multiple times. after 15 minutes of waiting and watching the miserable woman serve people just coming in the door, continuing to ignore us, another bar tender finally stepped in to serve us. I've heard this is one of the only bars in Hammonton, thank God I don't live here. But I suppose when you have a default monopoly over the bar scene in a town, your bartenders can afford to get away with treating patrons like garbage for no apparent reason.
