They do great work for decent price. My only complaint is their operating hours. They are only open Monday through Friday, which interrupts pick up time. My dress was there for over a month, because I couldn't pick it up. They didn't lose my dress though! They do answer the phone and return phone calls, which is important for customer service reasons. read more

I have going to Mary's for over a decade. They recently had a hiccup with my dress and they promptly called me to inform me and addressed the issue in a reasonable manner. Just came from the midwest and was in shock when i saw the cleaning prices at this place. The work was ok but i wouldn't say anything exceptional but the pricing was simply insane. TERRIBLE DRY CLEANING SERVICE, do not come here. They are extremely expensive as well. I was recommended by a friend and decided to give it a shot. I took multiple items here and two came back ruined. The armpit areas were bleached. They tried telling me it was something that happened "gradually" instead of taking responsibility for damaging my items. I understand that it could have been the sweat mixing with their dry cleaning products however I have taken my clothes elsewhere for two years in the city and this has never happened. For their reasoning alone and lack of owning up to their mistake , I'd love to give no stars if I could. Terrible customer service will make sure to never recommend this place to anyone ever. This is a joint review on behalf of SO, who took a suit to Mary's for cleaning. A jacket, shirt, and pants. Almost the minute he arrived home, he got a call from Mary's - how many items had he dropped off? Three. Jacket, shirt, and pants. "Uh...we can't find your pants." Seriously?! So he had to go back down there. Yes, indeed, less than a few hours from dropoff, the pants were already gone. Never fear, instead of the pants that match the suit, he was offered another pair. That's right - here, have these other pants. No, they're not the same size, type, or brand, but hey, they're pants, right? All pants are the same. Best part is Mary's rates are expensive to begin with. I, personally, almost had a coronary that SO had effectively paid someone to lose his pants and basically render his suit jacket useless. Lesson definitely learned - stay away from Mary's if you don't want to go naked from the waist down. read more

I dropped off shirts here last week when I noticed my shirts in the back of the car since I forgot to stop at my regular place on the way over the hill. Today I picked up 8 shirts and 2 sweaters. Not thinking to look at the actual bill,( why?) I paid $41!! I got to Starbucks and it hit me; Wait, I just paid like $41 dollars for laundered shirts! I went back and asked dude if the bill was correct, all he said was "Yes, $3.25 per shirt". I said wait, my other place, your competitor charges me $1.25.. Mary's was recommended to me by a friend who drives here all the way from North Berkeley and I've been using it for years now. They do an excellent job on everything, including neat repairs and alterations. And most especially wonderful--they are very quick, if needed. They did an great job on a stained suede jacket that another cleaner had given up on. The best cleaners money can buy. Unfortunately, it does cost a little more money than other places. But I know they will do a good job and my clothes are an investment. Mary's took out stains another cleaner couldn't and the other cleaner is the one which put the stains there ! (see my review of Alameda Towne Cleaners...stay away from that one!) This place is the best! I never thought I would ever need a dry cleaner but here I am. I bring things in every week and they are always nice and remember my name. They always have my clothes done on time. I even have to ask for rush service once in awhile because I forget to drop off. No problem, no extra charge. I've been coming here for a weekly for 6 months now and on and off for 5 years and NEVER had anything lost and never had any problems. I've also NEVER not gotten jelly beans at the counter! This cleaner's lost my husband's tuxedo shirt. When he went to pick it up they said it was "not ready yet." The next day, they couldn't find it, but claimed it might have been given to another customer who was "out of the country." Then it was, "Call later, we will see if we can find it." No offer to replace it. Sounds to me like they lost it and told us one or possibly two fables about it. I will not be going here ever again. read more

I have been bringing my drycleaning to Mary's for 2 years now, and they are great. James, the owner, is a really nice guy and very attentive to any special requests. Alex is there on the weekends, and he remembers me every time, and sometimes has my clothes ready for me when I walk in because he sees me parking. On a Friday, I realized I didn't have a suit for an event on Sunday, so I went in and asked them if I could have a suit ready on Saturday, even though my order wasn't going to be ready until Tuesday. Alex said sure, and sure enough, on Saturday had it ready. He actually grabbed it for me between customers so I didn't have to wait in line, and said, "just pay for it all at once on Tuesday."
