The neon sign of the location really adds a nostalgic, classic appeal. I had one pair of vintage Levi's cleaned after having acquired them on the resale market, and had challenges with getting them cleaned and thoroughly deodorized; even after three wash cycles, an overnight distilled white vinegar soak, and a direct sunlight air dry. After all that didn't work, I decided to bring my denim to Ideal for a final attempt. I dropped off on Wednesday and asked for Friday pick-up which the owner said was possible. I called on Thursday to see if an earlier pick-up was possible, and provided my ticket number to which I got a call back after checking on my piece. I was told that Friday morning would allow for service completion- which was fine. I picked the denim up first thing on Friday morning, and the scent I was trying to get out is completely gone. The quick turn around, friendly service and supporting a local business, Ideal is a great choice. For my one pair of denim, I paid $8. This is more than reasonable. Great service, quick turn around and much better than other cleaners. I will be going to Ideal for my pieces, and am interested in having a cleaning done on bigger pieces I have. Suggesting for anyone looking for a good cleaner to try Ideal. To note, with current construction in downtown Oakland, getting there is tougher than usual. And for new customers, push the door hard, it felt like it wasn't unlocked when I first came in. ahah

Tailoring: Jack, one of the employees, stopped what he was doing when I came in without an appointment and attended me very quickly. He was able to give me feedback as to how much bulk of fabric to take off to ensure a quality fit for my wedding weekend. Made the alternations fit me on the first attempt. He took good attention to detail on the top and bottom to ensure a good clean fit. Turn around time was about two weeks for this. Total cost was $170 for my work but I had a lot done. Getting a suit off a fast fashion website and getting tailoring done, you can have a custom suit for around $250, which is not bad at all. The dry cleaning for two suits and a shirt was $57 total. Considering my wedding was in Mexico and I sweat a lot in them I brought them to the store with plenty of stains. When I got them back they were totally spotless, particularly around the collar and cuffs. Overall good work by Crown Cleaners. I would come back for more alterations.

I had two dresses I needed work on: one being a wedding dress and another a dinner reception dress. For the wedding dress, all I needed was an inch hemmed from the front, the back length was completely fine. Second dress I needed altered and taken in at the armpits. She said it was easy and no problem. When I came back to pick up my dresses, she hung them up on the hook up front and I went to open the zipper of the garment bag to look at them, she insisted that everything was there and rushed me out saying that I could come back if there are any issues. Because of the great reviews I didn't think anything of it, but now I'm kicking myself for not checking then and there. I went home and checked and the reception dress was fine. There was some loose thread where they took it in but I can cut that excess thread, and some dark spots which can be easily wiped off using a tide pen, but the wedding dress had pulled thread in two areas on the front. I brought it back and she said they'd fix it. When I went back, she showed the dress and it was not fixed. I pointed it out to her again and she said that was already there, I brought the dress in that condition, the dress is cheap fabric and that they were trying to be nice in helping to fix what I had done. When I told her it wasn't already there when I brought it in, she said I must have done it when I took it home and they are not responsible for that. She refused to refund me. The positive is that it's not that noticeable and it wasn't an expensive dress, but there clearly wasn't any care when working on this dress due to it being "cheap" and the fact that they didn't want to take responsibility for what they did is so terrible. Learn from my mistake - take videos of what you're bringing in so that there's no question of whether they damaged your clothes.

I had a couple dress shirts and a pair of pleated Dries pants I needed dry cleaned. So, I decided to give them a try. I was welcomed upon entry, and a lady quickly asked me for my number, like she had always known me. I said, "I am not in your system". She said, "that's okay, I can add you". I provided my name, number and email. Then I gave her my two shirts and pair of pants and asked for the items to be ready by Monday, having brought them in on a Friday. She quickly said, "I'll put a rush on them, so they are ready on Saturday, but you can pick them up on Monday, no problem." It was so easy. She said, "we'll see you on Monday, sweetheart, thank you for coming in to see us." As I left, I got a text message tracking my order that I just dropped off and an email. In the text, I had a link to track progress of my order and the email gave me the option to add a credit card on file for future cleanings. On Saturday, like clockwork, I got a text notifying me of my order being completed- yes, in less than 24hrs after drop off. I did mention that I needed the garments cleaned for a funeral, which could have prompted the rush order. The two shirts and on pant came out just under $20. Pick up was super easy and very quick. I kept my pick-up tag and with one scan it was done. I am hoping to go back to try their alterations services. Great service, value and speed. They also have excellent hours, and are open 6 days a week, closed on Sundays. Try them out, if you need something dry cleaned. My pieces were perfect when I got them back.

I gave her several moth eaten sweaters with little hope that anyone could fix the holes so that they woud be wearable. Hanna was doubtful but willing to try. A week later I arrived to pick them up and OMG! Holes gone! Repairs visible only on the reverse side. This kind of hand sewing is obsolete and yet...it lives at Sherman cleaners in a gifter lady named Hanna. She also hemmed my pants perfectly. Wide leg, super soft cotton. I wanted them exactly, almost but not quite on the floor. She nailed it. They are now my favorite jeans. I also brought cleaning and it was ready in a few days. I've met three people there so far. All terrific. Highly recommend.
