A-mazing. Top notch personal service and cleaning. But wait...there's more! I don't know how many seamstresses Sherman Cleaners has but I had the great fortune to walk in the door and meet Hana. I gave her several moth eaten sweaters with little hope that anyone could fix the holes so that they woud be wearable. Hanna was doubtful but willing to try. A week later I arrived to pick them up and OMG! Holes gone! Repairs visible only on the reverse side. This kind of hand sewing is obsolete and yet...it lives at Sherman cleaners in a gifter lady named Hanna. She also hemmed my pants perfectly. Wide leg, super soft cotton. I wanted them exactly, almost but not quite on the floor. She nailed it. They are now my favorite jeans. I also brought cleaning and it was ready in a few days. I've met three people there so far. Brought in a blanket to be dry cleaned... that my dog had urinated on. After they said it was ready, I went and paid $32 and opened up the package and all I could smell was dog urine and nothing else. There was no scent of any cleaning agent or dry cleaning smell. The blanket was untouched and was not cleaned. Avoid this place. They are ripping people off. read more

Had to get the hemming redone on a pair of dress pants and decide to dry clean as well. $21 for all the work and the hemming was done with high quality. The cleaning left the dress pant looking new. The ironing was also well done except at the very bottom of the pants where it was crocked. Asked about bringing in suits to get tailored due to having gaining weight and she told me it'll be over a few hundred dollars for all the work and advised to buy a new suit instead and not waste money on resizing. The worse cleaners ever. I took a pair of pants to be altered. I told them exactly how I wanted my pants to be taken from the waist down to the helm of the pants legs. I also asked her to take up the length two inches. Come back to pick up my pants and they didnt take in my pants nor took in two inches in the helm and charged $59.00. I recently brought a dress here for dry cleaning. It is from the 1940's, and I had carefully repaired some beadwork on a section of fabric at the neckline. I pointed this out when I brought the dress in. After paying $35 for the cleaning, I noticed that the beadwork I'd done was wrecked, along with some other beadwork that was fine when I brought the dress in. I went back to the shop and pointed this out to the proprietors and received an inadequate and garbled 'explanation.' I will not be bringing my cleaning here again, especially at those prices. read more

BE WARNED: this cleaner damages clothes! I was a loyal customer of this place for two years, during which time I found their service to be satisfactory. But the other day I reached into the closet to retrieve one of my favorite dress shirts, and was dismayed to notice that the top edge of the collar was all chewed up: the fabric shredded, the shirt ruined. This is not an old, worn-out shirt; it's relatively new and in good shape, since I don't wear dress shirts that often. I knew this damage was something that had happened the last time it was cleaned. So the next time I went in to pick up a batch of clothes, I showed the ruined shirt to the owner, Serena. She denied that she was responsible, shaking her head and saying "It's an old shirt." I was not convinced, but what could I do? So I sighed, shook my head, and left with the new batch of clean clothes. When I got home, I examined the freshly laundered shirts I had just picked up, and what did I find? The collar of one of these dress shirts has been destroyed in exactly the same way! This couldn't be coincidence. I knew beyond any doubt that this shirt was in perfect condition when I dropped it off a week ago; now it's destroyed. So I went back to Sherman Cleaners with both shirts and insisted that their machine had done this, but Serena still denied it, again saying that they were old shirts. Her husband (?) came out of the back and when I tried to explain it to him, he threw up his arms and yelled "Old shirt, old shirt!" before exiting in a huff. And that was that. Now I'm out two $100 shirts. I'm not vindictive, but you need to know that if you bring your shirts here for laundering, they might get damaged. And if that happens, Sherman Cleaners won't take responsibility or try to make it right. You will be screwed, as I was. Don't take the risk; find someplace else. read more

Reliable dry cleaner in the Grand-Lake district. I having been using them for years and have not had a bad experience.

Really disappointing service. They "repaired" two holes in my pants, for 25 dollars each. Doing so required sewing a patch being the fabric and reinforcing the knees. Instead of using a thread color that vaguely matched the jeans. They used black thread. This means I have to get their sloppy work redone elsewhere. When I told them about it, they told me that is how they do things and they were sorry but not sorry enjoy to fix their poor quality work. I hope you save your money and go somewhere else. read more

My family owns a dry cleaners so let's suffice it to say that I am VERY picky when it comes to where to take my clothes. I have tried many places around the bay area and finally found Sherman Cleaners. They have always done a wonderful job - used them for about 3 years, every other month or so. They do everything they can to eliminate stains, and if you get oil on silk as I have a habit of doing - they are good about not over-promising. They really went above an beyond in a way they didn't have to this past month. I had to move very last minute out of state for work, and I managed to forget that I had left all of my dry cleaning at the cleaners! I called them when I realized and they went out of their way to ship me the clothing even though they knew I had moved so I couldn't be a regular there anymore. Okay, I decided to give them one more try. The location is very convenient if you shop at Trader Joe's frequently and I do. I went in there with a pair of dress pants. Half the hem on one leg had fallen out. Just want them to sew it back up. They tell me to come back in 10 minutes and it will be $5. Good so far. I get back there and the hem had been tacked back up with about four big, loose stitches. I could have done that! My 5-year old nephew does higher quality sewing on his kindergarten projects. To top it off, it was uneven, bumpy and unpressed. And it's impossible to communicate with these people, as they do not speak English. A young employee who does speak the language got them to re-do it but it was still a half-ass job. I will NEVER go there again! read more

First of all, my clothes are always done exactly the way I want them...and they're always on time, if not early. When I need something in a rush, they always accommodate me. Beyond the excellent service, they are always pleasant and fun to chat with. John always remembers my name and makes sure I'm well taken care of. In fact, once he noticed that one of the buttons on my shirt was broken and it was fixed right on the spot. Well aware of the fact that Yelp maintains negative reviews on their site for longer while filtering out the positive reviews I had to communicate my experience at Sherman Cleaners. Although their quality of service seems very high and they appear to have done an acceptable job with our post-wedding dry cleaning, I am giving Sherman Cleaners a one star review based on their failure to disclose the price for boxing of my wife's wedding dress at the time this service was requested. Upon pickup I was shocked to learn that there was an over $70 difference from having the dress simply dry cleaned vs. having it cleaned and placed in a box. The box is very large and has an open window for viewing of dress in the front / an appealing presentation, however my frustration is that the cost for this service was not revealed when requested. When you drop your items off, their service ticket does list the price at pickup. This I appreciated and is the appropriate way to conduct business. Our miscommunication occurred when no price was provided at the time the additional service of placing the dress in a box was requested. This should have occurred and at the time of pickup this was explained to them and they were notified that their failure to communicate would result in this one star review. Some matter of fault is shared and it was also our responsibility to ask. Overall, their service appears high quality and living locally we will continue to use this dry cleaner. They appear to be a small, family owned operation and this is appreciated. If you choose to use Sherman Cleaners be aware their prices are higher than neighboring cleaners and if additional services are requested please inquire about pricing. read more

Everything from my old review holds true, but now the pricing is consistent! They still are not cheap for the area, but they are ABSOLUTELY worth every penny. They do a great job with everything from my limited edition tee shirts to my suits. I have been bringing my dress shirts to them for at least 20 washes per shirt, and they are holding up very well. They do a great job with the cleaning, and they do not damage the shirts over time, which I have experienced with other places. Amazing friendly service every time. I don't write reviews, but my recent experience with Sherman changed that. So that you can learn from my mistakes. I had been going here for a few months. Dropping off 3-6 dress shirts weekly. Not the cheapest, I thought it must be a good place. I now have three bad experience. I should have moved on after one. But mistakes happen, they seemed like a nice family run business. And the location is close. Experience 1. Grease strains on shirt that weren't there when I dropped them off??? It was their shirt pressing machine... no refunds. They tried to clean it again not luck. Bye bye shirts. Experience 2. Burned shirts. Their pressing machine it so hot, white shirts are returned with brown stains, especially when you accidentally leave the plastic collar stiffeners in. They don't take them out so they melt and burn the shirt. Thinner shirts are brown around the chest. Happened more than once! Experience 3. Couple minor sports on a white shirt. Please get them out. Sure not problem, little piece of red tape to mark the spot. Great. Shirt returned spots still there. Reason: Regular laundry does clean all spots. Oh really? you said it would.. Then they suggest dry cleaning for $7.75 /shirt. Same results, no sorry, no refund too bad. Three strikes. You are out! They can't clean regular dress shirts! Never again. read more

Very disappointed with this cleaners. I was a loyal customer for many years and spent a bunch of money there. I took in many high end suits and dresses weekly. Usually they taped the buttons and adornments; they are not damaged. However, when I picked up a coat with the clasp damaged, and jewels missing, they took no responsibility, or offered any compensation. I called first but after 30 minutes on the phone trying to convey the problem I realized that it was hopeless because of the English deficit. I then went back in with the coat and was told to call back at the end of the day when the machine was cleaned. They promised to find the pieces of the clasp to glue back in. Having already wasted my time, I told them to call me when they found the pieces. Six month later I am still waiting for the phone call. I'm giving a one star because I can't believe that I was treated so poorly after so many years of loyal service. I'm still looking for a good cleaners to replace! read more

Don't take your clothes to be dry cleaned here. I took clothes there, suits and dress shirts and skirts. They charged me $85 dollars and my clothes were still wrinkled. The worst part is that they wouldn't fix their mistake, and they weren't very nice to me after spending so much money there. No complaints with the dry cleaning or the service. However I had a pair of my scrubs altered because they were just too big for me. The shirt was just cut shorter and now has these strange looking half pockets because instead of just removing the pockets she just cut them shorter and the pants are still way too big despite being measured. Two fails in a row, I will no longer use Sherman Cleaners. Two years ago, they ruined a trench coat - lost one of the embellishments on the shoulder. They did not compensate me in any way. They at least owned the error. But I didn't want to trust them ago. So 6 weeks ago, I took clothes there - they are use a "green" dry cleaning process and I wanted to give them a 2nd chance. Most of the clothes came back perfectly fine, except for 1 short that went from being a lovely ivory to a bluish white. I took it back as soon as I noticed, and they are refusing to accept responsibility for the error. I felt for the young woman who works there - she even acknowledged that it is clear to her, looking at the shirt, that the current color is not original. Their argument is that any irregularity would not be so uniform - that it would have been in splotches. Heck, the young woman even acknowledged that another customer had the same issue! Clearly, the owners are refusing to take responsibility for the fear of "paying out' for new shirts for customers. This is not customer service. This is not a good dry cleaner. Next. read more

Clothes seem to come out OK but the place is expensive with no posted prices. The staff barely speaks English while they watch a very loud TV airing Korean daytime soaps, really, they barely look at customers so they can keep watching their soaps. Simple laundering of shirts is $4.25. read more

Ok, so maybe I've gained weight and that's why my pants seem tighter and tighter every time they come back from dry cleaning. But have my arms really grown that much LONGER over recent months, so that my 3 favorite (expensive) sweaters no longer fit?
