I LOVE Family Laundry! The website is easy to place an order. They also have text message system that: confirms the order, lets you know when the driver is close so that you know when to set your laundry outside and confirms drop off. The pickup and drop offs are in a timely manner and the employees making the trip are always nice. My clothes come back smelling great and they are nicely packed and tied in stacks. I also really appreciate that they encourage sending the ties back with your next order so that they can be reused. I value the service as it gives me time to do other things. read more

I saw Family Laundry recommended in a local social media group a few years ago and gave them a try for bedding, throw rugs and pillows--best decision I made in a long while. You choose pickup and delivery windows on their app, select optional handling (oxy clean, double wash, etc.) from their default of wash, dry and fold--and that's it. They come right to your door and keep you informed on both legs of their trip. The standard minimum charges per maximum weight are spelled out in the app, as are charges for any of the requested special treatments--and they are great about clarifying anything you're unsure of. Life has been "life-ing" for me lately, and I've been doing everything possible to bring as much balance and relaxation to it as possible. Laundry was one of those things I've been looking to outsource. I found myself putting it off every weekend, and while I wasn't in risk of running out of clean clothing, my laundry baskets were still overflowing regardless. Now, I've come across Family Laundry awhile back, but in all honestly, I avoided them because they don't use the typical scented laundry detergent, fabric softener, etc. That's how I usually prefer my laundry and how I was raised. However, after using another service, that did offer the scented products, I was given a hefty bill, which didn't surprise me, esp since they made it a point to not advertise and only gave me an estimate after I reached out, and clothing that smelled like dirty washer machine water. I can't even begin to explain the scent, but needless to say, I was pissed (feel free to check my prior reviews for that one). When I started research for a new laundry service, I couldn't deny that Family Laundry had amazing reviews on Yelp, Reddit, etc. So I figured it was worth a shot. My clothes are cleaner and smell fresher, cleaner and are softer. This was amazing, especially because I was initially avoiding them due to their using non scented cleansers. My clothing, towels, and bedding were all returned to me, nicely folded, dry, and in pristine condition. Family Laundry will be my go-to for now on and I feel foolish for avoiding them in the first place! I was always curious about Family Laundry since I first saw their vans around town a long time ago, but was nervous about using a laundry service since I'm super particular about how I do my laundry. So I've done my own laundry my whole life - it's one of those chores I actually enjoy doing. I'll wash and dry without a problem, but 9/10 times my clothes will stay in my hamper, unfolded, and eventually scattered all over my house, still unfolded, and wrinkled. Given the overwhelming and increasing amount of clothes I own along with my never-ending list of things to do, I needed to call in reinforcements... enter Family Laundry. There's a lot to like about Family Laundry. My laundry preferences pretty much line up with Family Laundry (free/clear detergent, no softeners, medium dry heat), except I wish they washed in cold water rather than warm water. They're also right around the corner from me, so I can easily drop off my clothes for the wash-and-fold at $2/lb as opposed to the delivery service. I also like that they're actively involved with the community. For my first time, I had about 14 lbs of laundry, but didn't realize until getting there that they require a minimum of 15 lbs - they ended up charging me the minimum ($30), which was fine since I was only 1 lb off, but I wish their website specified the minimum because then I would've added another 1 lb of laundry. I dropped off my laundry on a Saturday afternoon and it was ready for pick-up on Sunday morning. I like the text updates that let you know when your laundry is ready for pick-up - you can reply to the text to let them know when you're on your way, but I'm not sure if that really did anything. Parking is a toss-up - the (small) lot was full when I came to drop off, but I managed to find a spot on the street, and thankfully there was one spot open in the lot when I came the next day to pick up. Anyway, so glad that I finally tried a wash-and-fold service, and that it was with Family Laundry... the peace of mind that comes with clean and neatly folded clothes that I can easily put away in my dresser is a game changer. This is awesome. I'm staying at the Marriott in downtown Oakland. I wanted a laundry service so I went online and I filled out their forms. They showed up within a couple hours grab my laundry that I put in a black garbage bag and then they got it cleaned within four hours and brought it back in their bag so I can use their bag from now on. It was all folded perfectly and tied together it was greatand it wasn't that expensive. I highly recommend. read more

Hey all, my washer decided to quit its job without notice. As a Private Caregiver, I need my scrubs fresh and clean. Came across this gem of a company called Family Laundry. It's local and I loved the background story of how they started, so I gave it a try......LOVE THEM!!!!... I scheduled a pickup online Thursday night. They picked up in the window they promised, and they just delivered my " bag o' scrubs". Swear to goodness they grouped the items and tied them up with a bow. Everything is " so fresh and so clean clean"... I wasn't sure how this was gonna go but FAMILY LAUNDRY just acquired themselves a new loyal customer. If your washer gets an attitude and quits on you , or if you just don't want to spend your day off doing laundry I HIGHLY recommend FAMILY LAUNDRY. Update 02-27: David contacted me and they replaced all of the lost items and also addressed the issue with the driver. He was on top of it, and the customer service was excellent. For those considering using this service, I recommend keeping track/an itemized list of what you send. As mentioned, I used FL since August and had one bad experience. Something to keep in mind. Original: DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE--ITEMS LOST! I have used FL for several months now and had a great experience until today. I did not receive 2 pairs of pants that I sent to clean in the bag--a tan pair of sweats women's S and a women's white pajama pants size S, the former which I had received as a gift this past Christmas. This is unacceptable!!!! I use the service just for myself, so I keep close track of what I put in the blue bag. On top of that, the driver that picked up the clothes claimed that she couldn't see the side door when I saw through the window that she didn't even try to get out of the van to pick up my clothes. She texted and came out of the car when I approached her half way with the bag. I understand that there is rain, but I am a customer and for the price, this is not ok. You have lost a customer!!! If you lack time, have money and would like to skip the laundromat.. well this is your spot! Download the app, schedule a pick up and delivery. Leave dirties in trash bags on your front porch or hand them over directly to them and wait until delivery. They will fold and place them neatly in their own blue bags that you can reuse for your next pick up. The only thing is I like to add softer or fragrance to my clothes but they use non fragrant detergents which can be great for some. I haven't asked if I can stick my own softener in the bags. We returned from a 2 week overseas trip and had heard good things about Family Laundry. What an understatement! We gave them a try and were so pleased, decided to go with their subscription service ... and we're only 2 senior adults ... but have 4 cats and a terrier pup. I want to commend Lili in particular for her patience in answering all my questions via chat/email and being so patient, friendly and understanding. She was awesome! John and Luis were also helpful. Working w/Lili made everything about FL a breeze and we have decided to continue our service with them. Sending laundry out is a new experience for us and I must say, it's saved us a lot of time, esp. now that I'm busy as a care partner for my hubs who's no longer driving and has had Parkinson's for 12+ years. With subscription service, PU/drop off is no charge and oxyclean is free. It's a lux service to send laundry out, but I feel the value is very much worthwhile. FL also washes pet bedding, rags, etc. I try to put them in a separate bag from our personal items and they are always returned the same way. In the Bay Area thus far, no laundry service has come close to the Family Laundry. 1) they are like family. The way great moms and great maids are. Always doing your laundry perfect and on time 2) their laundry carrier is human sized. You don't feel like you're getting ripped off like those apps with their small bag sizes. This is realistically 2 loads of a small washing machine and it looks and feels great 3) details you care about: they recycle the string they return clothes in. They are smart to separate delicates and just add on a charge. Etc They like the Costco of laundry services. Honestly for me laundry is more about trust than price, but they win on both. read more

I've never used a service like this but I was behind on laundry and very busy so decided to try it out. There is an app to set up and manage your account. Unfortunately, my address was showing as out of the service area. I called to double check and they were great- my address and account were set up by someone there same day. I put my stuff out for pick up the next evening and you get a text when they pick up. Your order is ready the next evening and arrived in a reusable laundry bag with everything perfectly folded and tied in bundles. I will definitely use them again. It's not a necessary service for me but it's great having the option if I don't have the time to do it myself. The prices seem reasonable to me though I didn't compare to others. UPDATE: the owner has reached out and clarified a couple of things: They do NOT use another laundromat to wash clothes. And they use unscented detergent. I truly appreciate business owners that take the time to reach out so I'll bump the rating up. However, it still doesn't change my opinion from my original review: I will not be returning as a customer. If it's not their facility bringing in bugs, it's the vehicle where the clothes are delivered. I have an actual physical (lined zapper) and chemical bug barrier everywhere in my home due to my extreme phobia. Conclusively, I did several tests and the only time I found a baby roach was when they dropped my clothes off. Again, the owners/service here are professionals; their team responds well and fast and are one of most polite people I've ever encountered. I downloaded their app and even gave them more chances than I care for, but I truly wouldn't recommend their laundry wash and fold services. :/ Not once, not twice but EVERY time they dropped off my blanket and clothes, it just didn't smell right :( and I've never been bitten by bed bugs so once I removed the blanket they washed I stopped getting bitten. The only reason I started using this was because my place has no washer or dryer and from understanding they take your clothes to the nearest laundromat and wash / dry them??? Even though I paid extra for oxiclean, my white clothes faded.. What really caused me to switch to their competitor was that 2/4 times in a month.... the guy who dropped off my clothes also dropped off a baby cockroach !! I did a test, which was one of the last orders I placed just to see I wasn't crazy and lo & behold, a small cockroach died near my clothes (due to the bug barrier I sprayed) Then I switched.... and no more roaches or bugs of any sort. Saying they were helpful, kind and communicative is an understatement! I am very impressed with family laundry! They have an easy to use app to start a service and you have your own account to help keep track of your clothes at each step. This place is very clean and organized. They just opened up to the public. They have someone in place to assist the customers how the system works as they are automated and how to run the machines using a card that you purchase. I came here for the wash and fold service, where you leave it up to them to do everything fo do everything. They charge by pound with a minimum of 5#'s at 2 dollars a pound. They do a pretty good job of washing and folding your clothes and no piece of clothing is lost in the process. If you don't have the time to do your own laundry, this is the place to go. So I needed to use a laundry pick up and delivery service because I usually go to the laundromat and I got covid so I could not go do laundry while I was contagious. I needed a laundry solution. Most of the places I called were drop off and I could not do that. I needed a place that would pick up and deliver at my house. Well Family Laundry totally does that and it was easy to set up the account and get it going. It is not cheap but it is totally worth it for what they do - they come to your house, take your laundry away and deliver it back clean and folded in a really nice bag. I've been using Family Laundry's services off and on for over a year, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Most recently, I had to tackle many loads of clothes from a closet that hadn't been opened in over three years. I needed help as there was a lot to wash. I sent over probably 3 loads of clothes and they came back looking brand new, refreshed, and incredibly soft, completely eliminating the dust and musty smell. I'll start with the good to show that this isn't made out of spite: If you want your clothes washed here, it's a solid service. Good concept, they tie things up nicely with a string and make clothes easy for people like me who struggle with disabilities or just don't have the resources or time. They hire strong people, (one really impressive person works here who can lug HUGE bags over their shoulder like it's nothing,) and they're relatively quick. It's been a lifesaver for the tragic times and I was glad to originally find them. Plus, I like their bags. And Luis, despite not always being the nicest, usually resolved issues with either a rewash or the offer of 20% off a next order, which was nice of them. But I will say this: Have had times where I've had to contact the business to ask why my clothing was returned to me dirty; as in back when they used to have the option of using hot water, (they no longer do tho, btw,) they didn't, no OxiClean used when I paid for it, and basically being handed back a bag of unwearable funky clothing with the facade of being washed the way I like DESPITE paying extra and putting it in my order instructions as well. They've had to, on multiple occasions, come back and re-wash my clothes again. Really irritating, especially for the price, to think I'll get clean clothes and blankets back on a Friday night for me and my family but getting them still filthy, then needing to wait another 24 hours to get them re-done. How does one fold dirty clothes, tie them up with string, and hand them back to families without issue? Luis was nice enough to offer either a rewash or a discount though, so, kudos to him. I would find other people's clothing in my own bags sometime. I have screenshots of times I've found other people's socks, and even once a thong that didn't belong to me, in my clothing when returned to me and had to contact them about that happening. Not really happy about that, but it was (presumably) clean, at least. During my last wash and fold, I was charged for 3 bags worth of laundry when I only sent in two. It turned out they had *yet again* mixed up someone else's items with mine, and so I had to call and text the company to let them know that someone's huge bag of duvets, blankets and sweaters were in my bag with one item of mine, and the driver had to come back around 30 minutes later to take the huge load of items that weren't mine from me. They thankfully refunded the fifty bucks, but yeesh. Their original attitude over me inquiring over the huge price I was overcharged, just to learn they 100% overcharged me and gave me clothes that weren't mine? Lord, the professionalism is weak here. And sometimes I've had incidents where they just straight up contact me to say they'll delay delivery by an extra day. Got banned from the business recently for getting salty with their customer service team, who for some reason kept pestering me on if a 2 dollar difference in my laundry would be okay or not. I said seven different times that it was fine and to just charge me the 2 dollars, since I had no issue with it, and just needed the money taken out my account (with a 400 dollar a day bank limit and a 388 dollar order, I didn't want days to go by with me not knowing when I'll get charged and can't buy other things I need that day/week, like groceries, or transportation for work,) , just for them to keep lecturing me on how I'm getting such a good deal/discount and not charging me for hours despite me repeatedly asking them to. I feel bad for not communicating better when pissed off, I do. But... Frankly, if I were at any establishment where an interaction was them going back and forth with me over something I 100% said I didn't mind and to just charge my card and take my funds, (and them pretty snootily acting like taking 2 dollars off of my 388 dollar order was such an amazing deal, like it was a gift from the heavens,) instead of just charging me, I'd have an attitude. Delivery people had a history of not caring wherever they sat my bags on the sidewalk, despite the easiest access to my door. Seeing them sit my bag of clean clothes directly on a huge obvious piss spot in the street that a dog left when my hands are outstretched to grab the bag from them? Not pleasant. No one cared when told, either. That's gross. Still a solid service for those with no washing machines in-unit, and if you're down to splurge a bit to get it picked up versus lugging the clothes around to laundromats or doing folding yourself, it's good. I also questioned their previous 'don't tip drivers! we pay them well enough' slogan before that they had up for years, but I think they removed it and gave people the option to tip, sometime last November. Kinda weird either way. Will post screenshots too, just so some people can be careful and be aware. WOW!!! Very impressed with Family Laundry. I was falling very behind on my laundry, and it didn't help that the banks were limiting how many quarters we could take to even do laundry. I decided to try out this service and I could not be more impressed. They have an app so placing an order is super easy. They came for their pickup and dropoff in the time frame I requested and texted you updates every step of the way. My clothes came out SO soft and folded very neatly.
